The Red Coach Inn Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful historic building, excellent service, excellent food! Came to celebrate my dad’s birthday. Wanted to take him out for an elegant dinner and it truly was. Clean, elegant atmosphere. Like being in a Bavarian Castle. Cozy tables, warm fireplace. Had a beautiful evening and everyone was impressed with the restaurant.
We have been going to the Red Coach in for 36 years. Always a great experience. We recently dined there when we were driving through New York. The menu was very contemporary with something for everyone. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was friendly, welcoming and professional. We'll be back.
Most historical place to eat in the area but food was disappointing. Dessert was great and pork dish OK but seafood platter tasted defrosted. Service was great and waitstaff was lovely. Would still recommend if you’re in the area.
Service was excellent, appetizers were plentiful, food was mouth watering delicious. Our servers were also very friendly and personable. We can’t wait to come back next year!!
The food was impeccable. I very much enjoyed the architecture and decor. Will definitely visit again next time we are in the area!
Excellent meal with all dishes having a unique twist, from the lovely warm bread with 3 spreads, to the cedar planked salmon served on the plank with pecan butter plus new potatoes and veggie blend to the unique pear/cranberry/walnut/goat cheese and buttery leaf lettuce salad. Extremely well trained and friendly staff with great ambiance. Best meal we've had in ages! Too full for the dessert choices!
Excellent food and service. Great Ambiance and location. A bit pricey.
Very cozy and welcoming ambiance! Loved the location-close to Niagra Falls and you can see the water. Food was great and our waitstaff was friendly and helpful, attentive but not smothering. There were 3 of us and we all had different entrees and we were all happy with our selections. I would go back.
The food was great. There was a large variety to choose from. The service was great.
We were there on a mini vacation and it was recommended. We were not disappointed.
Ah-mazing food. Had the cedar salmon. Easily the best salmon I’ve ever had. So good... the dessert was great too!! I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fine dining in Niagara falls. We didn’t stay at the hotel but it looked beautiful and I have only heard great things!!
Great place, Niagara Falls gem. Every thing was perfect, food, ambiance, service all that and a view of the river. Never a disappointment.
Unexpected find in Niagara falls. Cute atmosphere and good food!
What a great find! We are from out of town and visited Niagara Falls and, after eating here and seeing the location of the Inn, we will be coming back again someday. Wonderful, friendly staff! Food was excellent and wish we had some room left to eat dessert.
Food was better than Applebee's. Portions larger tha fine dining restaurants. Service was pleasant but erratic throughout our experience. We stayed at the Red Coach Inn so had breakfast included each day in addition to the separate dinner reservation. The Inn is failing. It is dirty and tired. The staff smiles but is basically incompetent. I would not stay or dine here again.
The place was nice and the people were very friendly. However the service was slow and the staff did not communicate well with each other. My meal was runny but the portions were huge.
The Manager, Bartender, and Wait Staff were great. Fun to hang with, even though they were working.
Had a great time food was great people where really nice
We were there for my Dad's 85th birthday and I have to say the staff were very friendly and accomodating. They honored my request to bring out a birthday cake I had purchased from their supplier after dinner as a surprise for my Dad. They put candles on the cake and sang happy birthday which was a nice touch. The food is okay and a good value for what you get. My biggest complaint was that the waiter was not familiar with the wines on the menu, and when I asked the difference between two similar wines he could not help me other than tell me one was more expensive than the other. However he did offer to let me taste both and make a decision, so that was agreeable, and because of the tasting, I opted for the more expensive bottle of wine. They should continue that practice!
The food was excellent except one of the dishes had too much pepper and had to be sent back
We had reservations through open table. They said we didn't show. Had to call and talk to the manager, told him to check his credit slips, and then got our points. The host did not seem to know what he was doing. There was a wait for a table and a line of people waiting during our entire meal and plenty of empty tables. The host was having to explain to everyone about the specials; this is not his job but the waiters's job. We sat for a good 10 minutes before anyone came to ask if we would like anything to drink. The food was so so and definitely not worth what we paid. Since we were on vacation they will not have to worry about us ever showing up again, though if we lived in town, the same would be true.
Our meal was delicious and the staff very friendly. I was glad we made a reservation, as they were very busy on a Sunday evening. The only real downside was a long wait for our drinks and very long wait for our food. The staff was super busy, so we didn't mind and the food was definitely worth the wait. I was disappointed we were traveling because I didn't want to leave my leftovers. I would highly recommend this restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation. 😊
The menu promises more than it delivers. It sounds classy and upmarket but the execution is average. The coconut shrimp were tasty in themselves but the sauce was basically marmalade. My French Chicken dish was ok but the chicken was a bit overdone. The accompanying risotto was good but there was far too much of it.
The chocolate creme brulee was another dish which promised more than it delivered. It was served in a deep dish, which meant that the top part of the dish was a good texture but the bottom half was cold and too dense.
Our server was pleasant but there were a few things about service which were just not on. Firstly, they brought our mains while my wife was still eating her starter. No acknowledgement was made of this but we knew that sending them back would result in them simply staying under warming lights and ending up overdone (which mine was anyway).
Secondly, we ordered a bottle of wine to accompany our dinner but this didn't arrive until nearly 10 minutes after the mains had been served. This meant that most of the wine was drunk after we had finished eating.
All in all it was a disappointing meal, especially as it was an anniversary celebration which the restaurant were aware of. There were simply too many niggly things that irked us that prevent us from saying that we enjoyed this meal.
My husband and I dined here as part of our anniversary trip. We loved it! The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was very appealing. I can't say enough about the service; all of the staff were friendly, helpful, and quick. We ended up returning for another meal before our trip was over. I highly recommend this experience!
Had a very nice meal with a couple of bumps. Coconut shrimp was really presented well, large shrimp, nice batter. French onion soup was hearty, lots of cheese. A cup is plenty. Caesar salad was bland, tasted like bottled dressing. Shrimp pasta entree was outstanding, cream tomato sauce with feta. Chicken French entree was a breast served over risotto with artichokes. Great flavors, plenty of food but risotto was unevenly cooked. Some parts were undercooked, crunchy. Some parts overlooked, mushy.
The big kicker for us was that I had used Open Table to make the reservation and had noted that this was a special occasion, my wife's birthday. When we checked in, they had the reservation in their system and welcomed us. When we had finished our entrees, staff cleared our table. Expecting a dessert menu or Birthday recognition, we were shocked when our check was brought instead. No coffee, no nothing.
We paid our bill and left. But there's more. I got a email from Open Table saying that I had missed our reservation with an admonishment.
I would recommend visiting them but would hope that things go more smoothly.
Great ambiance, view, food and service! Best place near the American Falls!
The Inn is very rundown. Not Quaint. There may have been a view but the windows were too dirty. The coffee was cold and tasteless. Potatoes blah. The crab omelet was ok. The waitress was pleasant.
They need tea and coffee servers with tops that are insulated. The tea didn't stay hot ,nor the coffee. We ate outside and things got cold quickly. Maybe need to screen in outside or remove flowers from top bannister pots, wasp and yellow jackets were diving and bothering us the whole time. Breakfast potatoes were a little greasy. Otherwise,it was nice.
The excellence of the food and the staff was unexpected. The food was simply on another level. It was literally one of the best meals I have ever had, from the crab cakes to the creme brulee. The flavor combinations and prep were incredible. My wife and I will most definitely return.
Great location, view of the rapids, good food (must try the cinnamon-chocolate bread pudding) and very inviting old-world-ish style.
Nice meal and great staff
The food was good, a bit pricey for what we received. The service was excellent. A bit disappointed that the dessert that was stated on the menu was not available
We arrived a few minutes early for my husbands celebratory birthday dinner but they had a nice patio table ready for us with a view of the falls. Our host, (Shawn?) Was welcoming and friendly. Our server Sara was knowledgeable and our service was very good with her helper, Sofia. Only disappointment was they didn't have our preferred after dinner liqueur. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
Great view of the upper Rapids if you eat outside. Might be one of the only restaurants in Niagara with view of water. Short walk to pedestrian bridge for Goat Island. Walk over to see fireworks after dinner.
The service was excellent, the food was very good but one of the best things is the location. If your fortunate enough to sit outside you can view and hear the falls from your table.
The Red Coach Inn was recommended this place for dinner. We looked it up in the AAA NY book and decided to try it. We were very pleased with this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Niagara Falls.
The staff was very friendly but the food was unfortunately mediocre. They even had no olive oil left for the salad, so couldn't offer any which was weird for a restaurant. The staff did everything in their power to make up for it though, which we appreciated a lot.
This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. We were very disappointed Expecting exceptional food but only getting mediocre. I ordered the seafood platter. Scallops decent, shrimp very salty. Before we left the area to return home, we wanted excellent fresh seafood. Being so close to the ocean, we thought we would receive fresh, well prepared seafood. Disappointing. The server mentioned they get their seafood once per week. This was unlike other restaurants that received daily fresh seafood.
Is this the best that Niagara Falls NY has to offer?
The server, Sarah, was Exceptional. Friendly, helpful.
We could not recommend this restaurant nor would we return again.
Understaffed! Unbussed tables sat there for hours. I thought our waitress went home - it was so long since we saw her. Overpriced wine - 4x retail. Undrecooked risotto, overcooked veggies in the chicken teriyaki. Generally a poor showing for a place that had potential.
The strip steaks were great and prepared to perfection. The sides - smashed potatoes and asparagus was an excellent addition to the meal. The staff was friendly and our server, John very attentive. Would recommend this restaurant for special occasions or for a casual outing.
We remembered having dinner at the Red Coach many years ago, and so we were delighted to find that it was still open and thriving as we made our recent visit to the Falls.
We had a lovely Sun brunch there - we were able to see the white water just across the street - the water is rushing by on its way over the edge of the American Falls, and the sound is delightful! The Cafe has both indoor seating with windows on the water, and a beautiful outside covered porch that offers great views.
They serve a Sun brunch menu until 11:30am (their web site says 11, but the let us know that lunch items weren't available til later). The menu includes the traditional varieties of Eggs Benedict, with some interesting additions - like a version with crab. There were also several omelette choices, a couple of French toast and waffle options, a good-looking steak and egg dish, and a very nice apple oatmeal. Nothing way out of the box, but enough variety to satisfy most anyone.
We got the feeling that they were understaffed a bit, and that the folks at outside seating many not have been on anyone's assignment sheet at first. But they finally got things together and were helpful and courteous.
The setting at the Red Coach is the winner - and if you want to enjoy the sound and sight of the rushing water and the strolling visitors as they come by to take photos and enjoy the scenery - this is a great place to be. Its a lovely place with pleasant staff and good food - and a great place to relax and take it all in!
NOTE: Because this is an older building, it is not truly "accessible" - no ramp, etc. I was able to use a walker to manage the few steps going up into the terrace, and then down a couple of steps into the dining room. But if you're in a wheelchair, this would be a difficult situation. Sorry!!
