We where there Monday evening before Thanksgiving - sat at a bar-top table in the small room off the entrance. Food and service was outstanding - 2 of us got chicken fried filet - was delicious. Overall the total was a great value too. We will be back!

Unfortunately, we received extremely poor service. Not one drink order took less than 20 minutes to arrive. In fact, our last drink never arrived but our server did try and bill it. The food was good, however, one of our steaks was overcooked. We couldn't complain because our server at times did not come around for over 30 minutes. We booked this reservation several weeks in advance and the bad service turned what should have been a special evening into a frustrating, unpleasant, and angry way to end the night.

Johnathan provided us an outstanding evening with great service and attention to detail. Everything from the cocktails, delicious ribeye and Marie Antoinette cake was delish! We will definitely keep this place in mind when we visit College Station.

Beautifully appointed establishment. We were a bit disappointed with menu items' pricing relative to portion size and our "sides" were barely warm. We were there for our anniversary. We’ve driven to Houston, and visited other restaurants in the area, this one is our hands-down favorite and will come back for more special occasions. I had a steak, my wife had the jaegerschnitzel—all delicious. Had the apple French toast dessert—I’m not a big French toast guy—but it was delicious!

Steak was not tender and poor quality. Steaks are served with 4 different dipping sauces to compensate for the quality of the meat. Mac and cheese was sub par. Cheese plate was ok as was tomato salad. Martini served in a glass that was not chilled and drink was close to room temp. Server was attentive, however overworked as we waited over 5 minutes after being seated to have drink orders taken. Very disappointing meal after hearing this was one of the best restaurants in town.

The Republic’s filet mignon was the best we’ve ever had. The cut was quality, cooked to perfection, with outstanding choice of house made steak sauces. Likewise, the sides were chose including mashed potatoes and steak fries were excellent. The bourbon ketchup was a nice touch. Our server was also attentive and proactive. The ambience is also second to none. Classic style with dark wood, old style patterns, and tufted leather booths that were comfortable and gave an upscale feel. Wonderful experience!

Food was fantastic. Started off with the Notorious FIG cocktail. Similar to an Old Fashion. Very good cocktail. I had the Caesar salad. It was a little different than a typical Caesar, but also delicious. The smoked short ribs were tender and delicious. Nice smoky flavor and the potatoes and cabbage were also fantastic. Finished it off with the crème brûlée once again a little non traditional but again very tasty. Highly recommend this place.

I ordered a prime strip and was surprised that was a vein steak (the sirloin end of the loin). I wasn't able to eat about 1/4 of the steak because of the gristle and connective tissue. Other than that, the mac and cheese and asparagus were fantastic. Service and ambiance were phenomenal.

Unfortunately, our waiter created an extremely bad situation for our small Birthday Party of four. When asked if he could move forward with the order of service, he became extremely defensive. I asked him in a congenial tone (half laughing), "Are you arguing with me?". He immediately responded, "Yes, I am arguing with you!". I talked with the manager outside of the restaurant, he only said..."Well, he shouldn't have said that... sorry that it happened. " There was no expectation that the waiter would be counseled. Not a sincere apology. Too bad. This is our about our 6th time at this restaurant over the past few years. We will not be back. Gheesh.....what a damper on a celebratory night.

I enjoyed the visit however I think that brining up the lights just a bit in the dining room would be nice. It was hard to read the menu in the. Lower light. Also I think since the restaurant is called the Republic which is a reference to the start of Texas independence that more items in the restaurant on display of Texas history would be a nice touch.
