Definitely an experience that you should have if you live or visit Vancouver
Food and price were the big draw back. Location and view are great. Service was great. For over 500$ bill would expect much more
All in all it was very good and improved from the last time I was there a few years ago. Only criticism is the lack of an additional non-seafood or fish item on the menu. They really should have a chicken dish for those who do not wish to have fish or seafood. Steak is a good substitute but the lamb is not something that everyone likes.
The dinner sas marvelous.
Salmon Ways perfect.
Scallops was very good.
We appreciate a lot.
Took my mom to Salmon House for a Absolutely Wonderful Mother’s Day Brunch!
The food was delicious and the view and service outstanding!
Fabulous dinner, server (Katie) and ambiance. Music from the lounge was a little too loud at times but overall it was a great experience and we look forward to returning.
Our server Sonja was excellent!! The view was great.
We went to the Salmon House for dinner in January and ordered the seafood tower for two. We came back to order the same. The price has been increased by 20% since January but the items on the tower had also changed. Everything was truly delicious and cooked to perfection. Well worth every penny. I will bring each of my visitors this year to treat them to the view, excellent service and superb food.
Great restaurant to come to celebrate special occasions. The food and service are always terrific, and the scenic view is breathtaking.
Great food, very nicely presented. All seafood prepared according to individual tastes. Salads were okay to very good; desserts were beautiful and tasty. Our server was gregarious, gracious, and attentive. The setting itself shows its age a bit; although the west coast aboriginal theme is very attractive and the view as usual is spectacular, the tables, carpets, etc. could be spruced up. However, I understand that one would want any furniture and flooring to go with the afore-mentioned decorating theme.
A great mothers day and all 5 mothers at our table loved it. Menu was great. Service and food was excellent.
Our server couldn't have been more efficient - just excellent. The reception ensured that we sat at a booth close to the entrance to facilitate our mother's easy access with her walker. Thanks.
This restaurant has been a staple in our community for two reasons : great authentic seafood and unparalleled views. Thankfully it does not have blaring music and designed in tiers - there isn't a table without a vista. Great for a romantic date, for out-of-town visitors or Sunday brunch. A gem.
Upon arrival the woman at the reception desk could not find my reservation. This after confirming the reservation twice. We were then seated and waited 20 minutes before a server took our order and this occurred only after specifically asking a passing server if we could order. Another 20 -25 minutes passed before we received the items ordered.
I am uncertain about returning to this restaurant as I noted it was not busy. An unusual occurrence for Mother's Day based on my previous experiences here. (Why was it not busy? Were other patrons experiencing the same frustrations that I was? In addition, the choices on the menu seem to have been reduced from previous years. This observation was based on what we received in previous years did not seem to be available this year. I do understand that restaurants are continually changing to meet public demands but nevertheless my perception was the offerings were less.
Lovely atmosphere and decor highlighting West Coast aboriginal artwork, amazing view, good food at a reasonable price. This is a good restaurant for a special occasion or to show off Vancouver.
Although it is beautifully situated overlooking the Burrard Inlet, the food was not impressive in any way.
We arrived at 8, and as we ordered our predinner cocktails, we expressed that we wanted to lengthen our dining experience by ordering food as we wanted it. Great said the server, only to return at 8:55 to inform us that if we wanted a main course we needed to order it immediately because the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes! Not good.
Thank you for the wonderful evening, hope to be with you soon
Came for a Sunday dinner, wanted a break from our usual suspects. Food was excellent and hot, delivered timely. Server was friendly and attentive. Found the noise level a hair on the high side, but not unbearable. It's been many, many years since having dinner here. Not sure why we stayed away so long. Highly recommended!
Made a reservation and called ahead to say that we would be 5 minutes late due to traffic. When we arrived, there was a group of three people that had just arrived ahead of us without a reservation. The hostess took their name and asked them to wait. She then asked if we had a reservation and proceeded to seat us in the dining area. I noticed there was a window table available, and asked if we could sit there,to which she replied that the window tables were first come first served and the walk in group was given that table. I told her that it seemed odd to seat a walk in group of three with no reservation at a table that a group with a reservation would most likely prefer to sit at, seeing as the view is the best part of the Salmon House.
We then waited over 40 minutes to get our food, which was not a particularly complicated order.
Croissant was still raw in the middle, with stringy uncooked dough...brought this to the attention of our server, yet it still appeared on our bill.
Cobb salad was a 4/5, with good looking fresh ingredients.
Eggs Benedict was a 3/5 , potatoes that accompanied it were overcooked (soft) and lukewarm.
Halibut & Chips was a 1/5. Fish pieces were not the white flaky halibut we were expecting...instead they were small dark pieces that were mostly batter. French fries were limp.
Our server was very good as were the support staff.
My nephew was visiting and I wanted him to have a great view and meal to top off his visit. Success
As all was Salmon House does not disappoint, the food, staff and view stellar
This visit we were disappointed and made the decision not to back.
We have been there twice before and everything was superb for the two times.
We feel the service and food have gone downhill.
A magnificent view with service to match. A very beautiful atmosphere. I booked a table here after seeing the place on open table. I hoped it would be nice for my husband’s birthday. It did not disappoint. A fabulous evening. The halibut was cooked to perfection and they have a great selection of BC wines.
Brought a friend, visiting from London, UK, who was hugely dazzled by the whole evening.
The Salmon House has always been my first choice restaurant to invite friends to, especially those visiting Vancouver. Thanks for always "delivering"!!
The rating I have given specifically for this time. I have been there a few times in the past and I had amazing experiences. Unfortunately, this time was not one of them. The wait between our main courses and starters was nearly half an hour yet we didn’t complain anything. When the main courses were served, I asked a lady who brought out our main courses if she could fix or do something with a light bulb above our table that started blinking just before she brought out the food. I also asked if i could get share plates because two of us ordered the seafood tower ( The share plates should have been brought for us before our food was severed and that how it has been done whenever we go to a fine dining restaurant) We also had another two main courses which were not brought out at the same time so I asked the lady if the other main courses were coming out as well and her reply was “I have only two hands I can’t do everything at the same time and I can’t fix the light so we can either move you to another table or you can sit here still. What do you prefer” I understand that a person can have a bad day. But the behavior like that is unacceptable especially at the restaurant like this. I asked to speak with a manager who is exceptionally nice to us from the beginning. We emphasized that we didn’t complain about the lady just to get some discount, but the lady deserved some advice. I honestly felt embarrassed for locals as I have told my out of country guests how nice & friendly Canadians are. The manager took all costs for our main courses out of out bill as their apology. However, we put 120$ back to the tip, of course, not for the service of the lady on that day but for other servers who work hard and give their best services to customers.
Had a wonderful dinner for my Birthday and enjoyed an exceptional meal. The sable fish was absolutely perfect.
I recommend it for the service, ambiance, location, and parking and not really for the food. I had Ling Cod. It was fried and I could smell the oil that was not a high-quality oil.
My husband and I went to Salmon House on the Hill for old time's sake, for our anniversary. It is such a special setting, and we have fond memories of dinners there years and years ago. We decided to drive in from Ladner on a beautiful evening. The ahi tuna appetizer was fantastic, as was our salmon trio for dinner. Our cocktails were also excellent. Unfortunately, my husband went home still hungry, (having also eaten ALL of the bread in his appetizer, which he never does) So, in terms of appetite satiation for the price, not so great, unfortunately.
We had a great dinner
They do salmon incredibly and everyone who has it raved. My brother had a filet and loved it.
The waitress was fantastic and knew her stuff
We tried calamari...it was really bad so we sent it back. Lots of batter and very little calamari. Over cooked and heavy. Too bad on an otherwise great evening
We would go back
A delightful family Easter celebration dinner. The seafood dishes were fresh, uniquely presented matched by superlative service...and major score for ambiance and view!
This was my first time back at the Salmon House in over ten years. I cannot say I was impressed. The food took over an hour to arrive (in fact we asked if the Chef had fallen ill). Obviously this restaurant has a captive audience with the view. However, the Salmon Wellington was dry and dismal. This menu item cost $24 when in reality it was more of a $12 value. One at our table had the eggs benedict and they were just okay. Another guest had a club sandwich and the bread was dry - she was so hungry she just ate the fillings as she could not wait for another order. Overall a very disappointing experience and I will not be returning or recommending to guests from out of town.
Amazing place for Vancouverites, and a must-see for all visitors. A true legend.
The view and the food were fabulous but the restaurant itself needs a refresh. It’s very dated and a little dusty. I would love to see this special place back to its former glory.
Lovely dinner and ambiance at Salmon House. Picked a perfect sunny day and Colleen and the entire team took great care of our party including two very elderly and not terribly mobile diners.
Food very good...seevice great. The view is, of course, exceptional
Outstanding in all respects, thank you!!
Overpriced for the food choices. Service started well but went downhill shortly after.
To have a window table we were in a corner of the lounge, not the main room. It was very comfortable, no loud noise, windows all around with a gorgeous view. The service was excellent, the waitress Johanna was very professional and cheerful. The food, as every time, just perfect, the salmon trio cooked to perfection, moist and well seasoned. We could have not chosen a better place to celebrate our anniversary.
A bit too expensive but great place to take visitors to our city
Salmon was over cooked, lamp was cold and didn’t taste good at all, chicken fingers from kids menu was actually chicken strips and wasn’t fresh either. Definitely doesn’t worth the price.
