The Salmon House
The Salmon House is world renowned for its fresh seafood and comprehensive BC wine list; accentuated by breath-taking views, warm comfortable surroundings and native art decor.
The views of this place is only reason they can fill the dining room. The food is absolutely terrible and you feel robbed after paying. if you can take the drive to see the views but don’t bother eating. very disappointed I hope they figure it out.
Of course the view is spectacular, but so is the calm ambience and competent service. Food has always been very good, especially the seafood. Rather a North Shore go to sort of place.
I like the Salmon House and have been a number of times, and while the food is generally very good, there seems to be difficulty bringing the plate together.
I had the Miso Sablefish, and the fish was great however, they paired it with coconut sticky rice which came across 'gloopy' next the the delicate sablefish.
My wife had the lobster gnocchi and again, the lobster was great and the flavours were spot on however, the gnocchi was so dense that it really brought down the dish. Store bought gnocchi is several times better, but in a restaurant such as the Salmon House, I would expect that the ricotta gnocchi is hand made delicate little pillows.
The Salmon House is a good alternative to The Keg. We'll go again some day.
Great food. Great staff!! Wonderful views!
The view is spectacular and the food is delicious! Worth it every time!
We had a great time celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary at Salmon House, the noise level was a little high and detracted from our ability to have an intimate conversation. But we had a wonderful time together.
It's been years since we have been at the Salmon House. Happy to receive a warm welcome upon arrival and a well-maintained restaurant. Our only complaint was that service was slow.
I asked for a table close of window. My wife likes to see the sunset. It was her birthday. But my opinion is they didn’t read my request. So my question is Why do they ask for special request?
We had three salmon dish and sable fish. The Salmon was seriously overcooked - dried out and tasteless. The sable fish was also overdone but not as much as the salmon.
the server (a woman) who's name I've forgotten was amazing, anticipating our needs without being asked. We both had the lobster, one steamed and one thermadore, while beautifully presented did not have much flavor. Suspect it had been previously frozen although I've brought frozen lobster back from Halifax and it had lots of flavor. That part was a bit disappointing but everything else was great.
Excellent food and service. Good wide Menu, including "non-fishy" items for those who don't like fish.
awesome view with awesome food
Birthday for my wife
I requested a table by the window and they gave us a booth. We were very unhappy
Great all around experience.
Only negative comment would be, the portion size could have been bigger.
Always enjoy the beautiful view.
food was good, not outstanding, my daughter had to wait so long to get her pancakes, that we had started eating, otherwise our eggs would be cold. We were almost finished by the time they came, and they were not very good.
When we have friends in town we will generally have a meal at the Salmon House. The view is superb and the decor is interesting.
However the food is not consistent. This time it was very slow in coming. Apologies were made @ as our threesome got behind some large tables.
The calamari appetizer was very run of the mill
Our friend's portion of halibut was quite small and the flavours of the meal quite bland.
My husband and I had the chargrilled salmon..a good portion but quite dry and the mashed potatoes bland and uninteresting. No pepper was offered.
The scallops with each meal were also quite chewy.
Standards are high and there are some very good restaurants locally which we have been sampling in the past two months. This one needs to fine tune itself.
Off season the food can be most yoothsome
Great place overall. Food was decent. Don't get the sword fish.
A wonderful spot to enjoy the view in a lovely setting. Service was great. Food two weeks at a brunch was excellent - the best restaurant omelette I've ever had. The Alder Salmon last week dry. Veggies were delicious.
Smooth on-line reservation, no waiting time, cheerful staff and servers, excellent food! View from the restaurant is gorgeous! Pricy but worth it! It was a special dinner for my in-laws, and they had really good time having the dinner there. Thanks to the Salmon House!
Nice restaurant with an excellent YVR view. Good service. Mediocre execution of quality food. Lobsters were way overcooked. It could be very noisy if customers from next table do not have public ettitque, who like to "broadcast" their conversation.
The Salmon House is a really nice restaurant. We loved the beautiful views and the decor, and it’s not hard to get to from downtown Vancouver. It’s pretty expensive, and we had to wait a long time for our food, but it was so delicious we soon forgot about that.
Definitely an experience that you should have if you live or visit Vancouver
Food and price were the big draw back. Location and view are great. Service was great. For over 500$ bill would expect much more
All in all it was very good and improved from the last time I was there a few years ago. Only criticism is the lack of an additional non-seafood or fish item on the menu. They really should have a chicken dish for those who do not wish to have fish or seafood. Steak is a good substitute but the lamb is not something that everyone likes.
The dinner sas marvelous.
Salmon Ways perfect.
Scallops was very good.
We appreciate a lot.
Took my mom to Salmon House for a Absolutely Wonderful Mother’s Day Brunch!
The food was delicious and the view and service outstanding!
Fabulous dinner, server (Katie) and ambiance. Music from the lounge was a little too loud at times but overall it was a great experience and we look forward to returning.
Our server Sonja was excellent!! The view was great.
We went to the Salmon House for dinner in January and ordered the seafood tower for two. We came back to order the same. The price has been increased by 20% since January but the items on the tower had also changed. Everything was truly delicious and cooked to perfection. Well worth every penny. I will bring each of my visitors this year to treat them to the view, excellent service and superb food.
Great restaurant to come to celebrate special occasions. The food and service are always terrific, and the scenic view is breathtaking.
Great food, very nicely presented. All seafood prepared according to individual tastes. Salads were okay to very good; desserts were beautiful and tasty. Our server was gregarious, gracious, and attentive. The setting itself shows its age a bit; although the west coast aboriginal theme is very attractive and the view as usual is spectacular, the tables, carpets, etc. could be spruced up. However, I understand that one would want any furniture and flooring to go with the afore-mentioned decorating theme.
A great mothers day and all 5 mothers at our table loved it. Menu was great. Service and food was excellent.
Our server couldn't have been more efficient - just excellent. The reception ensured that we sat at a booth close to the entrance to facilitate our mother's easy access with her walker. Thanks.
This restaurant has been a staple in our community for two reasons : great authentic seafood and unparalleled views. Thankfully it does not have blaring music and designed in tiers - there isn't a table without a vista. Great for a romantic date, for out-of-town visitors or Sunday brunch. A gem.
Upon arrival the woman at the reception desk could not find my reservation. This after confirming the reservation twice. We were then seated and waited 20 minutes before a server took our order and this occurred only after specifically asking a passing server if we could order. Another 20 -25 minutes passed before we received the items ordered.
I am uncertain about returning to this restaurant as I noted it was not busy. An unusual occurrence for Mother's Day based on my previous experiences here. (Why was it not busy? Were other patrons experiencing the same frustrations that I was? In addition, the choices on the menu seem to have been reduced from previous years. This observation was based on what we received in previous years did not seem to be available this year. I do understand that restaurants are continually changing to meet public demands but nevertheless my perception was the offerings were less.
Lovely atmosphere and decor highlighting West Coast aboriginal artwork, amazing view, good food at a reasonable price. This is a good restaurant for a special occasion or to show off Vancouver.
Although it is beautifully situated overlooking the Burrard Inlet, the food was not impressive in any way.
We arrived at 8, and as we ordered our predinner cocktails, we expressed that we wanted to lengthen our dining experience by ordering food as we wanted it. Great said the server, only to return at 8:55 to inform us that if we wanted a main course we needed to order it immediately because the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes! Not good.
Thank you for the wonderful evening, hope to be with you soon
