The Salmon House is world renowned for its fresh seafood and comprehensive BC wine list; accentuated by breath-taking views, warm comfortable surroundings and native art decor.
Went for a belated Mother’s Day brunch. The food, the service, and view was great.
This was my first visit to the Salmon House. Our first impression was very good and the view was outstanding. My friend ordered the Salmon Trio, while I order the Beef Tenderloin. When our meals came they looked delicious however as the meal progressed we were quite disappointed in the quality especially for the salmon which was overcooked and over peppered. The beef tenderloin was delicious however, the heavy use of salt on the top was a bit much. I also must omment on the mashed potatoes which were served with the beef. I did understand that horseradish was utilized but I fould that the potatoes were heavily flavored with the horseradish. Maybe our expectations were set too high as I have always heard about how declisous the food was at the Salmon House. Considering the price of the meals, I would far rather go to the Beach House!
The views of Vancouver downtown from the restaurant were superb and complimented the wonderful food and wine. The service was excellent and the manager went outside with us to take photos and knew the best spots. Made a special family occasion even more special
Ambiance is lovely especially with the view on a beautiful day. Service was just okay. The seafood chowder was a bit of a disappointment - tasted like canned soup, we did not feel it was worth 9.50... The bread was really good - warm, fresh and chewy. The sablefish was amazing and made the night. It was missing the artichokes though. Overall I would come back again if they have some new menu items.
Food and service was good. The meals were overpriced. They also charge for a soda water. Nice place though and great view.
We've been to the Salmon House several times in the last 2 months. Always excellent. They recently made some menu changes that are RIGHT ON!!! Will make us come back again, sooner. Everything they do is just perfect. WE had the Halibut this time and it is OUTSTANDING!!!
Really REALLY impressed as were our out of town friends!
An anniversary dinner for two. A wonderful evening
Been there twice before and this the worst experience by far. Food flavor was good but most items were not hot. Waitress never returned after food was served. Had to keep asking buser for dessert menu and refills. Very very long wait for food. Noticed similar situations at other tables. Read other reviews with similar complaints so could not recommend and be some time before we return. Very sad....
The view is spectacular. The service was amazing. Our waiter has to be one of the bet waiters we have ever had. He made excellent suggestions and took care of special requests. The food was great. This dinner was the highlight of our vacation.
We recommended it to our friends and they were extremely happy with the location, view and the food.
Such a nice dining experience with good service and food... strongly recommend!
beautiful view, creative menu, service is excellent. main pasta and seafood dish was a bit bland and could have had a sauce on the pasta. Lamb was good value but again not much flavour. Desert was excellent
Visit this restaurant for the decor and the service. Excellent view of vancouver downtown from West Vancouver
Dinner was spectacular. On the pricey side but I am very pleased with what we got for our money. The food and the service were absolutely top notch. The view and ambience are classic west coast living. If you plan to spend some extra money for a good night out then the Salmon house is a sure thing to get the quality and service you are paying for.
Good experience. Nice view with delicious food. Not busy on weekdays. Highly recommend.
We were apprehensive about bringing our children, but the attentive staff made us feel very welcome. An exclusive vantage point with a great view from West Vancouver over English Bay, Stanley Park and Downtown. Good quality fresh ingredients and well presented dishes in a casual atmosphere. We'll be back.
It was a lovely evening. Our water filler fella was very friendly and attentive and our waitress was amazing. It was a special birthday and I'm so glad we went there. A very memorable occasion.
We were a group of three and requested a window table. we booked on a Sunday for a Thursday 7 pm evening. I guess it was not early enough so we didn't get a window seat. Or only party of four gets window seats? Maybe tables a re more available for 8 pm reservations?
The menu included there was a special three course for "before 6 pm only", perhaps it was for 5 pm seating only. I wish it was announce at booking. We could have done a 5:30 pm booking.
The service was excellent, very professional. The menu did not include calamari, or fish and chips, a disappointments for one of us.
The (Salmon House)chowder was not tasty and included very touch pieces of "fish". disappointing.
The other maim courses were acceptably. But in general not very fresh.
I will recommend mainly because of the location and the service, not the food. Try making reservation earlier (maybe a month ahead), and stick to table for 4, to get a table with a view.
We were in Vancouver for business and remembered this restaurant from a few years ago. Most enjoyable.
The service was excellent from beginning to end. Our server was friendly and professional, very helpful, made great recommendations, even helped with capturing the memorable event with our cameras. We were given a table with a terrific view; this was greatly appreciated since we had brought our cousin who was visiting from Toronto. We ordered Seafood Towers - the food was beautifully and artistically displayed. And every morsel, from the dungeness crab salad to the lobster tail, was succulent and delicious. The lime coconut broth which bathed the sable fish was flavorful and out of this world. There was nothing negative about our experience at the Salmon House!
Excellent food and service. A bit pricey, but worth it.
One of our favorites places to dine especially when we have out of town visitors. Fine view and wonderful west coast atmosphere along with superb food and service. Thank you!
The rack of lamb is superb and to get a whole rack is unbelievable.
It was my friend’s birthday so we decided to have a brunch at the Salmon House. We were not disappointed with our choice of venue. The weather was great so we had a great view of the lower mainland.
Appetizer was amazing. We ordered a croissant and the shrimp sprill roll... we love it! The Croissant was fresh baked and warm and the shrimp spring rolls was just absolute heaven!
For our main course we had the Omellete with Dungeness crab and I had the Fish and Chips. The Omelette was just oozing with deliciousness and the crab was fantastic in it! Fish and Chips was crunchy and the hlibut flaky... just perfect.
You should go!
It’s was our 15th wedding anniversary, had the whole lounge to ourselves with a beautiful view of the water & downtown. The food was very good. Service was great.
Excellent Experience!! would highly recommend and would be a must dine on dry
Sunny clear evening.
By far the best Seafood restaurant, and long standing reputation for the best seafood and creativity. Best variety, and ability to mix items for varied flavours. The "wood style" BC ambience represents the West Coast amazingly. Best view of the city, and superior service. Our server has been there for 25+ years. Presentation is artistic without sacrifice for flavor.
Dessert menu was nice, but perhaps a house creation or more variety.
Great experience as usual...being a local. We always take out of town guests.
Wonderful restaurant to come to with Friends!! Service and views are spectacular
A lovely place to celebrate a birthday. We were fortunate enough for the sun to make an appearance and enjoyed a lovely view of the water and downtown. We can always count on excellent food at the Salmon House and they did not disappoint. The Salmon Trio was cooked to perfection and I would definitely order it again. I'm sure we'll be back.
It was dinner with my wife before my second heart surgery scheduled for the next day.
Service was really poor to the point we had to ask for our dirty plates to be removed, pour our own wine. And wait for ages to get the bill.
Disappointing for an expensive meal, shame.
Outstanding as usual. Everything was PERFECT as usual. A very special place with wonderful servers who add to the enjoyment of the evening. I can't compliment them enough!!!
Fabulous as always. So nice to go to a restaurant that you can make reservations for, where every seat in the house has a killer view, white linen service and wonderful service. The food is beautifully plated and absolutely delicious.
We booked a reso on Open Table for brunch on a Sunday. We tried to get a table for 8 and we were declined so we opted for 6 and were able to get in. When we arrived the restaurant was surprisingly quiet and not busy so we were puzzled why we couldn't get a bigger table but it worked out ok as some of our party canceled in the end. We had a lovely window seat of the amazing view of the Vancouver skyline and ocean. The decor is very old, I like the wood accents but they definitely need a renovation. The dark green is very outdated for such a nice restaurant location.
I had the seafood bennie which was delicious as did a few others. We also had a salmon omlette and salmon salad at the table that was throughly enjoyed. The champagne OJ was a bit overpriced for the tiny glass it was served in ($9.50 for like 2 ounces lol). The maple pecan tart was devine. Our server was very nice and helpful. We over all enjoyed our brunch very much and had a great time.
Good for get together with friend
Location and views are amazing. Was really looking forward to going as we had a gift voucher to use. Found the food bland and main course over cooked (fish pasta) it took ages to come as husband had lamb and his was cooked well. Ordered tiramisu for dessert but again bland. My parents have been and found the food fantastic so maybe it was just an off day.
A delightful dinner at a beautiful venue to celebrate a special birthday milestone with family! Dinner was excellent, the choices were delicious and the portions were perfect!
Lovely ambience... our server Diane was great.
Food was presented well and main courses were delicious. Soup lacked substance though and very watery.
Very good well prepared sea food. There are also steak and lamb options.
I was there 15 years ago and I wanted for my husband to discover it. The scenery was as spectacular as I remembered it. The ambiance was cosy and the service pleasant and efficient. The food was a little more then average. The overall experience was a definite high 4 out of 5.
