Will go again ASAP - best new find in years!
Thursday night pre-fix pricing is great for a mid-week treat. This was the second visit to this restaurant and good overall.
Wonderful food .... Great wine pairings As good as it gets.
Once again, we were blown away. Food is just fantastic. The service is incredible. Couldn't ask for more from any restaurant.
Favorite restaurant in Wilton, by far. Happily come multiple times. Always delicious and a pleasure!
We thought it was very good. The room is not big and there were a large loud party on our side of the room. So the room was loud.
We enjoyed the meal very much and will return in warmer weather...
Excellent food and service. Rivals the best.
I never tire of this wonderful place.
As always, we had a wonderful experience at The Schoolhouse!
I had been meaning to try this restaurant for some time, but after reading up about it and the Chefs accolades as well as the reviews I finally went. And it did not dissappoint! Everything was Excellent, from the most tender octopus ever to the rabbit and cavatelli.Even the desserts were great! Will definatly return.
Every dish was interesting and delicious--beautifully prepared and gorgeously presented. Although the space is tiny and noise from a large group next to us celebrating a birthday was a bit much at times, the ambience is normally both cozy and modern. Our table was not ready when we arrived and the tiny vestibule does not make for a great space to wait on a cold night, BUT the staff took good care of us by giving us a glass of champagne and presenting our table with a scrumptious cheese platter appetizer the moment we were seated. Very nice touch! Schoolhouse is even better in summer when one can wait or dine outside, but it is excellent in any season!
Always an outstanding dining experience.
A dining adventure! Thursday night's 4 courses for $40 is a perfect way to experience Tim's exciting and unique taste combinations. Artistic presentations and outstanding and inspiring dining.
Delicious, fresh, innovative cuisine. Best in Fairfirld County!
This'is our favorite CT restaurant -- for lunch and dinner.
The service is friendly and efficient, and the food never disappoints.
Never had a bad meal in all the years Schoolhouse has been open, by favorite restaurant of all time.
Loved the personalized menues and the food was outstanding.
This was our third visit to this great little restaurant in Cannondale. The food was excellent for the most part again. We will be back.
As always, Tim and his staff serve up flavorful food, with an attention to detail that consistently impresses. In the five years we have been going to his restaurant, he has never disappointed us.
We just love the Schoolhouse at Cannondale! This was our second visit, and once again the food was superb. Worth noting is the excellent and attentive service. The staff are kind, easy-going, and willing to fill any wish you desire. That, combined with the delicious and fresh food, makes for a wonderful night out. We will surely return.
Great all around, worth a drive.
Overall it was just okay. Some if the food was good, some
of it very mediocre. Wine list was very disappointing. Noise levels
are unacceptable. Everyone was yelling to make
themselves heard. For those prices I have eaten
much better elsewhere.
Love this restaurant, but on our last visit we had a 7PM reservation, confirmed by email and phone call. When we got there we were told it was an 8PM reservation, which we never eat that late. Clearly our table was given to someone else, as the restaurant was full! Also did not realize there was a limited menu on Thursday night, at least in our case, and did not care for some of the selections. I live in Florida and every time I visit my daughter in Ct., we come to dinner and have never had a bad experience. Not sure when we will go back right now as still upset about last experience.
excellent food and service. I especially like that the chef comes out to speak with diners. The only criticism I have is it's very noisy. I don't know if any soundproofing can be done but i would highly recommend it!
Great as usual! We were celebrating a birthday and two anniversaries and were really touched by the personalized menu with congratulations.
Foie gras was delicious, steak - juicy and melted in the mouth, the souffle irresistible.
We keep this place in mind for very special occasions.
This place has seen its day go by a long time ago. Salty unimaginative food with a inexperienced waitstaff visibly counting down the minutes until they can collect their $120 tips and leave. Time for new ownership and a new chef. My last 2 meals here have been borderline awful. Go to Le Farm or Dressing Room and eat good food instead of eating poorly cooked food with a menu that prints your name on it so you feel special.
We recently moved from NYC to CT and have been trying a number of restaurants in the area and were blown away with The Schoolhouse at Cannondale. The food is amazing, the restaurant is cute and cozy inside and the service is great. We will be going back again soon. HIGHLY recommended!
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and had a wonderful meal. The service was fantastic and the food was a treat. The personalized menu was a brilliant little touch.
Lunch at The Schoolhouse was a great experience. The food was great, the staff friendly and attentive, and the building was quaint and nicely decorated.
The Thursday night tasting menu is well worth the trip.
Really terrific meal once again! Spot on pork tenderloin. Nice skate over the best cole slaw you've ever had. Fig salad and squash soup were both nice. White anchovies make for winning dishes in my book so the pasta was great. Dessert outstanding tonight. The Tart Tatin with maple ice cream - scrumptious and even more so because of the candy on the plate. Great night.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere. Suggest the server notes menu items that are no longer available well in advance of taking orders. It's disappointing when you plan your meal and the server tells you they are out of something.
THIS WAS A REPEAT VISIT TO THE SCHOOLHOUSE FOR US AND IT CONTINUES TO IMPRESS IN ALL RESPECTS, INCLUDING SUCH NICE TOUCHES AS THE NAME OF YOUR PARTY ON YOUR MENUS. WE ASKED TO BE SEATED OUTSIDE ON THE RUSTIC PATIO AND THEY DID SO, NO ISSUES. OUR MEALS WERE GREAT ALL THE WAY THROUGH. BY THE TIME WE GOT TO DESSERT, THE TEMPERATURE HAD DROPPED CONSIDERABLY; WE ASKED OUR WAITER IF WE COULD MOVE IN FRONT OF THE THE LARGE FIREPLACE AT ONE END OF THE PATIO. AGAIN, NO WORRIES, AND WE FINISHED IN COMPARATIVE COMFORT (THEY WERE ALSO QUITE ACCOMODATING IN ALLOWING ME TO THROW AN OCCASIONAL EXTRA LOG ON THE FIRE TO BETTER FEND OFF THE CHILL). IT ALL COMBINED TO MAKE THE EVENING JUST THAT MUCH MORE MEMORABLE.
A very special place in a charming former village. Excellent service and imaginative cuisine. Good for a special occasion.
I went here on a business lunch - maybe the best BLT i've ever had. GO GO GO!
We've eaten here quite a number of times and we love the restaurant. Last night's rating of Very Good for food is only indicative of last night's meal and only Very Good because we've had better meals there. That said, the cauliflower course was OFF THE HOOK! Also, notable were the puree with the duck course and the maple ice cream/plum cake combination.
The Schoolhouse is always solid. You have to be willing to accept their limited menu but what is on the menu never disappoints. A bit more pricey than we remembered.
I think we were just expecting more from this restaurant. We were treated wonderfully, but the food was not worth the considerable cost. If a steak is going to cost $42 and scallops in the $30+ range, one would expect to have the best. This just wasn't, and based on our experience, I don't think we would return.
There were diners outside but we preferred to be inside. The surrounding businesses were quaint but marginal, mostly related to pets, so this is a gem among its surroundings in an old, remodeled one-room schoolhouse. But inside there wasn't any relics of its prior use, which is ashame. We were there for the fixed price 4-course dinner. They were small plates of food sliced and diced into small pieces. The duck for the entree were in nuggets and the pork bellies were in two narrow strips. Everything was very tasty and a nice presentation, but the pieces in the appetizer, the secondi, and the entree veggies were so small that the texture of each morsel was strange. Nonetheless, the meals were satisfying and, for $40, a fair price.
Chef Tim LaBant serves up a great selection of dishes based on locally-sourced ingredients, though regulars may notice he is present in the kitchen less and less as of late. Still one if the best and most-creative spots in this end of the universe.
