   Service by reception was so poor we were forced to leave. Once we were seated the manager who was moving chairs eavesdropped on our conversation and made a snide comment. Insulted by the intrusion, we left without ordering. We have eaten here many times. It is very noisy, the food is average, wine list poor but bartenders very professional. Skip the food and just go to the bar area for proper service and respect. Or hot to Fiorellos next door. We are always treated well there.

   Had a reservation for 6:30pm but had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. Very busy restaurant. Salmon and brick chicken were good, s’mores dessert was a real treat and the reason we came back for a return visit. Service was pleasant. Noise was excessive, with dining noise and street noise. Despite the dessert, we won’t return unless it would be an off-dining time and low street traffic time. Way too noisy.

   From my first interaction at the host stand to leaving the restaurant I was impressed with the pleasant and professional staff. They took care and have systems in place to make sure my gluten allergy was taken into account. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fresh and tasty. The bathrooms were serviced and all in all it all a great experience. It was a bit noisy but after awhile it seemed to quiet down. I highly recommend.

   We have dined many times at the Smith. The food is always excellent. We had oysters,mussels, flounder Milanese and a chicken sandwich, all delicious! Our only criticism is the back room behind the kitchen was very loud, extremely difficult to carry on a conversation. When we reserve a table next time I will only sit in the main room or outside.

   The food and service was great, but the outdoor seating is a real crapshoot because an entire row of two-tops has one seat basically in the middle of foot traffic on the sidewalk outside the restaurant. Additionally, the outdoor section is in an almost totally enclosed area with a roof (the open end is where the sidewalk traffic is), but there is no shade from the sun during the time of day when the sun is setting. We were at the restaurant Memorial Day weekend with a 5:45 reservation, and from about 6:15 until we left at 7 I had the sun in my face to the point I literally could not see my meal. The sun came through an open-air gap between the roof and the window, and I literally have a slight sunburn. It’s irresponsible to put paying customers in that kind of situation. If you can get a seat inside, you’re going to have a good experience but if you book outdoor seating bring sunblock and sunglasses in case you get one of the seats in the middle of the Lincoln Center hustle and bustle.

    Great outdoor eating area for lunch. Service was very good. Menu didn’t have very many healthy choices. Salad choices limited. On the expensive side. Flounder Milanese was alright. Husband did not care for the calamari. Was okay. Overall we did enjoy our get together with our friends and did not feel rushed which was appreciated.

    The Smith is a great place to go when heading to Lincoln Center. The food is always well-prepared and tasty. Service is friendly and efficient. It is rather noisy -- surprisingly, slightly less noisy to sit outside, even with traffic on broadway, than inside the restaurant...As an older person, I find that ambient noise can deter conversation with companions...but still enjoy going to The Smith.

    Let me start by saying that I am a big fan of The Smith, so it is hard for me to write this review. I have been at this location more time than I can remember over the years. However, I think it is important to share my less-than-favorable experience on 5/23/2023. The first server probably needs additional help to learn to manage food (her thumb was comfortably resting on the bread pieces); she was also very disinterested. I ordered burgers and fries, something I had many times. The fries resembled those one would get in McDonalds. They tasted worse. Definitely, it is time for a new approach to fries.

    The only reason I'm taking a star off is because the metal chairs used outside are made for SMALL people and if you are an AVERAGE American you WON'T FIT into the chair. Very uncomfortable. It's not like we were going to linger there anyway—we had tickets to a show. It's possible that the chairs are deliberately uncomfortable, but I doubt it.

    Food and service were great. Tables are too close together, and it is unfortunate that customers can bring their dogs to outdoor tables. I did not appreciate being seated outdoors next to a group with a large dog. I had to climb over the dog to be seated, and a member of my party is allergic to dogs. Not a great situation.

    We love The Smith, but they do not know how to manage people who come in for reservations. The first time we ate there, they said they would come get us at the bar when our table was ready. They forgot about us several times. We ate there last night and were told someone would get us outside when the table was ready. This time they sent a text -- I didn't see it until 15 minutes after it was sent. The reservation desk should tell people they will get a text when the table is ready instead of saying we will come and get you!

    We loved eating at the Smith -Lincoln square.I especially enjoyed the salmon. The food was delicious, the service was so friendly and attentive, and the ambiance was wonderful. We would absolutely eat here again.

    We adore gong to The Smith! We LOVE the CHICKEN! Our favorite waiter is Sam Encarnation and our favorite manager is Kevin O'Malley. We look forward to going all the time and frequent the restaurant several times a month, with deliggt!

    Had reservations and was warmly greeted and seated. They even welcomed us for dining there the first time. The menus have a vast selection without overwhelming you with choices. The server never left a glass empty and unfortunately we were in and out faster than we planned. Great experience & can't wait to return!

    Brunch on a Saturday at Lincoln Center — We had outdoor seating on a rainy day, so it was nice to not have too much noise (as the case inside the restaurant). Could not sit close to the tarp panel as water was dripping in. The service and food was very good and overall we thoroughly enjoyed. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive.     Food lacked in flavor and presentation was subpar. I have been to the smith at different locations and had good food. Appetizers were awful and it as described on the menu. Entree was also lacking. I would not recommend this location and stick to generic food option if you do decide to eat here. Even my cocktail was bad. overall would not return.

    I ate outside and it is very unappealing to eat on wooden tables that are defaced, Table cloths should be on them. The tables on next to each other and the noise level is very high. The steel chairs are about as uncomfortable as any I have ever sat on. The food is excellent and it is a shame that the place is so awful.
