The Soca Kitchen
Food was mediocre. Calamari was raw and rubbery . Tomato salad too runny flavors didn't blend well. Enchilada was ok and yucca fries too greasy.
Was having super for the first time with some friends and we really enjoyed it. The food was very good as well as the ambiance!
A+ form us.
Incredible tapas and tastings...one of the best places to eat in Ottawa. If you want so something delicious with savoury flavour from out of this world go here.
Also...their old fashioned drink comes in a vessel with a glass bell smoked..the rum is divine! Best drinks and knowledge of libations/Spanish food/and service OUTSTANDING!
Everything was phenomenal from the service to the food. We will definitely be back! Hubby had steak and I had enchiladas and cauliflower. So good!
Great food, and environment! my whole family was very happy! We will be back. Not to mention the service was excellent!
We really enjoyed our meal here - such fresh seafood very well cooked! Apparently the steak was excellent too. Has a good atmosphere and is a lovely space to eat in! Would recommend, especially in the summer for their super cute patio.
Staff was very welcoming. Atmosphere was warm and fun, colours were Spanish classic. Waitress was prompt and friendly. Food came quickly and was excellent, we weren’t able to eat all of it and took the rest home.
Great afternoon out with the ladies. We had a variety of tapas. All were judged very tasty. The drinks we had were delicious. The margarita had tons of flavor. Service was excellent.
A must to visit in Ottawa West. Be sure to make a reservation to avoid disappointment specially on weekends. Service is friendly, thoughtful and timely. Menu items change from time to time and are wonderfully tasty. Order a few plates to share!
The service was friendly and professional. My friend and I share the charcuterie board to start with. I had the calamari, and she had the beef tenderloin, and both were delicious.
Good quality food, cool little house, they have parking and also free on street parking.
We came for early dinner at 4:30, and we seated inside. The menu was not large, but had something for nearly every desire. I had the enchiladas and octopus and my wife tried some cheeses and Spanish charcuterie, and it was just right. It was tasty and of perfect proportion. There's a nice dining area outside, and he servers are nice, attentive and hip. I think we will come back often. I really recommend coming here.
There aren't many veg/vegan options in many restaurants but we found Soca. I had the cactus nopales and the bread and tomato. Both were delicious. The grilled cauliflower took the show. It was an amazing dish. Ended with tres leches which was excellent.
Wonderful journey of flavors! Everything was absolutely fantastic
Our dinner reservation started off a bit poorly, as we were seated in an upstairs dining area with no ambience. Shortly after being seated, a large group arrived and their boisterous discussion was deafening, mostly due to the poor acoustics (nothing to dampen the sound). We asked if their might be space downstairs, and the server was able to accommodate our request. The ambience and noise were much better in the ground floor dining room. Make sure to request the ground floor when booking a reservation! The food, as always, was amazing in terms of flavour and texture. The one disappoinment for us was the whole fish - we had it on a previous visit and it was a large portion with more accompaniments. This time, it was a small sea bass, with just a small amount of topping (salad and sauce?). Definitely not what we were expecting, and not worth twice the price of most other dishes. We will not be ordering the whole fish again. Perhaps the highlight was the Old Fashioned Soca cocktail, served smoking under a glass dome! The first one had a grilled orange slice on top (preferred), and the second (it was that good!) had the orange slice at the bottom of the glass (unappealing). Why was it prepared differently? Maybe a different mixologist? We will go back, but will do so with our eyes wide open and a little more cautious about what we order and what to expect.
Really enjoyed our meals. Steak and vegetarian tapas were delicious. Service was attentive and friendly. We look forward to our next meal.
The food is outstanding. The portions are generous and there is NOTHING that they serve that isn't delicious. The service is outstanding! I am definitely coming back. Soon!!!!
The food was amazing. Excellent seafood. Our waiter was originally from Venezuela and was very attentive. The tres leches cake with cinnamon was to die for!
Many people have recommended this place to me and so I wanted to try. It was a very good surprise. All dishes and service were excellent.
We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary at this delightful restaurant which was new to us. Our server was friendly, our food was incredible, and we left wanting to come back. Thank you Soca!
We made a reservation for our anniversary night here on a whim and boy, were we happy we did! The staff was extremely welcoming and friendly, and while we perused the menu, we enjoyed delicious mojitos! Price was just right for all that we got in terms of service, quality, and enjoyment overall! Will definitely be back.
Spectacular dinner! Food was superb and service was consistent and knowledgeable throughout the night, not overwhelming.
Beautiful space, I will bring the rest of the family for our next visit to Soca!
C’était bien et les prix était quand même correcte !
This restaurant was one of my favorite restaurants in Ottawa. I am not sure what happened but the quality of the food and the service have gone down a lot. It is still a pleasant restaurant but nowhere near as good as it was. With a variety of great dining experiences in the neighborhood, Soca Kitchen will have to step up their game. Next time, I will likely be dining somewhere else.
Expensive for quantity. Suspicious if this restaurant was the reason my girlfriend and I had very upset stomachs within 6-8 hours after eating here.
This restaurant is a great little hidden gem. Excellent tapas. Great service.
Amazing food and service as always!
Amazing food and quality! Love going to Soca, specially to eat on their patio during the summer :)
Three of us met there for the Tuesday $5 Tacos and Margaritas special at 4:30pm. The place filled up by 5:30. We each had two tacos - pork or vegetarian were available. The guys had the pork and enjoyed the tastes and decent portion size, the woman had vegetarian and found it a bit spicy but just ok tasting. The hungry guy ordered two extra tacos and was satisfied after eating all four.
Margaritas were good with a spicy rim on the glass. The table next to us ordered a second glass with extra alcohol, which I could understand as there was not much to taste in the ones we had.
Service was good and friendly and knowledgeable about. I finished with an espresso which turned out to be a capsule product, but very delicious.
There is some parking in the back, otherwise look around on the street.
Excellent food, great ambience. We were very happy and will come again!
Our last visit was our 5th or 6th visit to the Soca Kitchen in a year. It has become our No 1 place for dining out. We are looking forward to our next dining experience. We have always been treated like very valued customers, have never had that experience with ANY restaurant ever before. The staff is very observant and attentive in every way.
I highly recommend this restaurant for a truly exceptional dining experience!!!
Great food and service. Good gluten free and dairy free options.
Excellent restaurant although somewhat expensive, but definitely worth a visit on their special nights: tapas for two, flamenco, margherita, etc.
Had a great meal with friends at Soca Kitchen. It was our first visit and we enjoyed the tapas offer which included a cocktail. Will be back.
This was my second visit
Fantastic food and drinks
Will come again
Food was good and nice atmosphere. From a value perspective it was not great. The waiter way over-sold us on food and so it was a bit expensive especially since my husband and I paid for the dinner for the entire party. I pushed back on the quantity a bit and he pushed to order more than I thought we needed for our group and we had a tonnes of leftovers (which we took home) but it was an expensive evening for us. Some of the tapas dishes were better than others. Didn't like the calamari, steak and duck hearts as much but loved the tacos, cauliflower steak, burritos, potatoes and fries.
Straight off I have to admit that I have not been on the restaurant scene the past couple of years for all these great reason, kids, divorce, house, blah, blah, blah but I have to say hands down this restaurant is the best I have EVER eaten at in Ottawa!
The food was beyond fantastic, the combination of flavours just blew my mind.. I kept expecting the next dish to come would ruin our evening as there was no way it could top the previous but they just kept getting better. Even the dessert was something special.
I actually do NOT want to go back to this place only because I fear the food could never top what we had there last night and forever mar what was the best culinary experience I have had in decades.
This wasn't the first time we eat at the Soca Kitchen and it definitely won't be the last. This supper was to introduce some friends and business clients to Soca and they were equally as impressed. At supper, we started with some cocktails which brought a tasty twist to some classics. The cocktail I had was Soca's take on the "old fashioned" which came in a very impressive glass bell filled with smoke giving the drink a nice smokey flavour and looked very fancy. After a few drinks, we shared appetizers which were beautifully presented and tasted unbelievable. Of all the appetizers we shared, I think the Duo Tacos (pork) were my favorite with juicy pork and a nice light sauce, but the Nopales Ceviche and Charred Cauliflower Steak were amazing as well. Nothing disappointed and the service was terrific. We look forward to coming back and tasting more of the amazing menu!
Great decor, elegant and cool setting, welcoming and friendly service and delicious food, fresh ingredients always top quality cooking.
I've visited Soca many times in the last 4 years and I'm so impressed with the consistency in service and food quality. I can't get enough of their seafood tapas- We always feel welcome, the staff is very wine knowledgable and attentive in a friendly way (never over-done or stuffy).
Service was very disappointing they rush you out of the restaurant by 9:55 pm
