The Soca Kitchen
Our delightful server was super helpful with the menu options for dietary restrictions. The food was delicious! I want to go back right now. I had the ceviche & pork tacos, my dining partner had the steak and chicken enchiladas. We were both too full for dessert, but next time I’m going for it!
Limited menu that is too expensive for what you get. Fine dining should include option for gluten free bread/crackers for charcuterie boards... and cold seafood tower??
The food at the Soca Kitchen is very good and well presented. It is a tapas restaurant so you would have to expect that the portions are smaller-the wait staff suggested two dishes each but we found three selections for the two of us to be sufficient. We also had a cheese plate to start which also very good. We were fortunate enough to have a table set apart from the row of tables so we had more privacy-I suspect that if the restaurant was full one might find your neighbours to be quite close. The restaurant was not busy on the rainy night we went, so noise wasn't an issue but, once again, if the restaurant was full, it might be. Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive. I have noticed that some reviewers found the service to be a little rushed and I would agree-plates arrived before the previous plates were finished. Some reviewers also found it to be pricey but it doesn't present itself as a budget restaurant so the cost shouldn't come as a surprise. Overall, I would recommend the Soca Kitchen based primarily on the quality of the food.
We enjoyed a very nice selection Tapas on Saturday night. The food came a bit too fast, next time we will ask to slow it down.
Quite pricey for the quantities, but excellent favour.
This is my second time dining at Soca with family and friends for special occasions.
Love the food, service, surroundings, music - all wonderful, relaxing and a terrific celebration of food.
The tapas plates are all substantial, and provide a great way to share and experience new tastes and beautifully presented dishes.
Hola - keep up the great work and I will keep introducing more friends and family to this Ottawa gem.
Terrible front of house service, we were seated for our reservation ask what we would like to drink then she never came back with it had a second server come over 10min after we were asked the same question luckily I ordered food with the drinks or I don’t think we would’ve eaten anything within the hour we stayed we had a serve come to our table twice left starving and had to flag over to pay bill and have her come for the third time the charcuterie we had for 2 was delicious the Spanish olives not so much overall left frustrated and not happy for the value and time
Food is always fantastic , great discoveries every time we go!
The food was good but over priced for portion size. The service was very slow. They added a 20% gratuity to bill without telling us.
Tips are based on food and service, you should not decide what we tip. When we asked if we could remove this from the bill and add our own gratuity, we were told this cannot be done as it was policy. There was 6 of us, 2 bills, and gratuity added to both bills.
Food was generally quite tasty - and I know it’s tapas - but the small portion sizes were very overpriced. Service was slow and seemed disorganized at first but improved through the evening.
Everything was delicious, had an amazing evening 😊 highly recommend!
Great service as always, I love coming for dinner, their specials are great. Tapas are delicious and consistent.
Had dinner with my partner and had enchiladas, tostada and calamar, all the tapas were super yummy and pisco sour is a must! Really enjoyed our evening at Soca Kitchen.
Excellent and different from anywhere else in the city.
Beautiful environment with delicious food. This is a great place for dinner with a friend or in a group. The dishes have delightfully complimentary flavours and cocktails were super exciting.
We enjoyed some of the best oysters and tapas we have had in Ottawa. The service was prompt and good. The wine list had the wine we wanted at a reasonable and logical price considering the offerings.
I have been to Soca before and as always there was absolutely nothing that could of been better with our service or food. From the cocktails and wine selection to the tapas ordered. Beautiful selection and simply fantastic.
Amazing all around. Food, service, drinks and atmosphere all top notch. Its pretty expensive but well worth the cost. You get what you pay for here, top products! Will be back again.
The Soca Kitchen is always such a treat! The food is so unique and the atmosphere is always on-point. Whenever I have friends visiting, or special events, I can always count on Soca for an amazing time, food and excellent service!
Over priced, small portions and not many vegetarian options. Sorry, won't be going back.
It was a fun evening where we could have good conversation. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. All four of us are wine lovers and I am a sommelier. The wine selection offered is minimal and terribly overpriced. I am not stingy when it comes to good food and good wine but I find it difficult to pay a very high price for a modest bottle of wine. I ended up having beer.
Fantastic first experience at Soca. Came with family so we were a party of 8. Great service, amazing food. My sister raved about her whole fish. Shared a delightful charcuterie platter for 4 (could have used more crostini though). A bit pricey so probably good for a special meal. We will be back!
I had very high expectations for this restaurant. We went for Valentine's Day dinner. The service was very ordinary. We had 5 courses and finished it in 50 minutes. Each service was "tossed" on the table. We hadn't finished our plate until the next service was already on the table. Plus, the food was very cold. I don't recommend it at all, very disappointed.
Set menu was very poor - raw food was bland, service staff couldn’t recommend pairings, markup 200% on a $45 bottle of wine is outrageous. Won’t be back
Valentine’s Day supper was a real joke. We were rushed through a four course meal in less than 40 minutes. Not only was the food mediocre - and one course was not even edible because it was so disgusting - but the portions were extremely small. The menu was pretentious and the fixed price per person was ridiculous. We ended up with a 300$ bill (after tax and tip) and had to go eat somewhere else because we were still hungry.
The food was great, though the service seemed impersonal, and either unconfident or unkowledgable about what they were serving.
We went for the Valentine's Day menu, so it's not really fair to base The Soca Kitchen experience on just this menu. The menu itself was good. The Oysters were tasty, the Halibut Seviche delightful, the Beef was very tender. My husband who is a vegetarian got the disappointing Broccoli Steak, which for the future, no one wants to eat that size of broccoli. The dessert was okay, but not outstanding. We enjoyed the atmosphere, but the picture of the pig snout kind of bothered me as it really served no purpose. As for the cost, it was pretty high considering we ended up actually going out later that evening and ordering more food because we were hungry.
Overall I enjoyed myself with my husband, and will most likely return to try your regular menu.
The chef and kitchen were obviously experienced and turned out some very tasty dishes.
Love Soca! Amazing as always! Food is incredible and service super friendly... be back soon!
Our dinner was outstanding, service was very friendly and knowledgeable. Reservations recommended as they are usually very busy.
Came for brunch with the fiancé and it was an excellent experience! Service was very friendly and helpful. Cappuccinos were excellent. The meal itself was superb: we shared a pan guerilla; super tasty, the bread was unreal, the flavours were simple and fresh. I had the taco breakfast and fiancé had the traditional Venezuelan breakfast: the flavours were perfectly balanced, the textures complemented each other, everything tasted amazing, I cannot say enough good things about our meal. I am already thinking of when I'll be back!
We ordered about 8 dishes off the menu. Tacos and the stuffed peppers were good. The enchiladas were bizarre tasting only if super sweet olive juice. Service was great!
I brought my honey here for his birthday dinner, his first visit, and he said it was the best restaurant he has eaten at in Ottawa since he moved here 15 years ago! Food is wonderful and I have recommended Soca Kitchen to several friends and family members. I can't wait to try the brunch! Must tries: yucca fries and sweet beetroot salad.
The brunch is amazing! and the size of the plates is perfect!
Great restaurant ! Looking forward going for supper :)
GOOD FINE CUISINE, TAPAS IN PARTICULAR, A BIT PRICEY BUT HIGH QUALITY FOOD.
Soca had a lively atmosphere. The servicer was friendly, helpful and engaging. Our group of four decided to share the dishes. Each dish provided a good tasting portion. This was our fourth visit to the restaurant.
The owners put their hearts and experiences into their business. From A-Z a very positive customer experience. Always up for returning to SK!
A wonderfully eccentric menu - from cocktails to desserts - beautifully presented and, more importantly, delicious
The chef’s blind testing menu was very nice, especially the octopus carpaccio with potato espuma and the dulce de leche cheescake mousse with alfajore. However, the service was pushy, as if the two servers just wanted us to finish and leave. Courteous and helpful, but always asking if we were done, if we wanted something else, etc. Give patrons a break, especially if the restaurant is not busy.
The overall experience was great. Our table was in a cozy part of the restaurant where we were able to "park" my niece's stroller. The lady doing the service was very nice and efficient. The food was just amazing, lots of flavours and diversity. My favourite plate was the Cauliflower Stake, perfectly cooked, delicious flavour and vegan! I would totally recommend this place to my friends.
