The Soca Kitchen
Excellent food, charming server and great ambiance. We just left 2 hours ago and I have already booked my next visit.
We go to Soca Kitchen often and it never disappoints. The food and service are always excellent.
It’s just around the corner from Wellington Street West which makes for a slightly calmer atmosphere. I suspect that if it were right on Wellington it would be absolutely packed 24/7.
We're very picky, only frequenting a few favourites. Soca is consistently excellent from every respect.
Excellent food and service. Would recommend this restaurant and hope to go again.
Soca kitchen is always a great meal. Good portion sizes, great flavours and nice cocktails.
Very nice restaurant. The tapas were great, reminded us of pinxos in San Sebastián Spain.
Nice, but over the top expensive! The grilled meat plate was very generous and good in the past, i dont know why restaurants take us for fools! It was a great place and now the prices are rediculous!
we enjoy Soca
Best meal we’ve all had in a long time. Seems like they are always tweaking the menu and making it better and better every time we go! Server is outstanding as always!
Tapas at their best. Great vegetarian options although not vegan friendly. You must try their Serrano ham and their sourdough bread. Best ever had! Cozy and casual, makes a very good business or regular casual dinner. Amicable and knowledgeable staff.
Excellent and enjoyed the décor. Be careful not to order too much
Went for anniversary. Great tapas menu. Sauces are off the hook. Deep fried duck heart was delicious. Drinks are well done. Only one server so service suffered slightly. Absolutely will come back and recommend.
Food was fantastic and service was good as well. Very nice veggie section and beautiful Spanish cheeses. Loved how we were seated upstairs, great private room makes a more intimate dinner or a fun event of you are a larger group for dinner.
As we get more into winter its great to find a super cozy spot (with parking) with divine food and somewhat exotic cocktails (they were delicious but I had never tried a tamarind mojito). All the wood in the decor makes this spot very unique.
Did the blind tapas tasting on a Tuesday night for $35 per person. Food was awesome and all explained to us. Wine included was fantastic. Great little place in Hintonburg. I dont recommend if you are not adventurous with food.
Best shrimp ceviche I’ve had in my life! Great authentic resto. All-round a fantastic dinner.
Perfect dinner! Service was upbeat and attentive but not overwhelming. Great wine knowledge which definitely helped when picking the wine! We shared 5 tapas and they were all superb!
Only one waiter per level...not enough staff! No one at the door to great us, to pour water or take our wine order. Too bad. Food was good, but unequal. The salad dish was somewhat rough, with big pieces of out of season tomatoes...Odd pricing for some items on the menu, with a slice of cauliflower at 24$, about the same price as the steak. Excellent presentation and complex plates in general with good flavor, but not always complete in terms of texture and seasoning. Decor not up to par with the menu (plastic plants!)
Second we have gone there since a year ago.
We felt the food was not as good as it was the first time we went.
The Chef Board needed more items, especially cheese and the chicken liver pate was a weird choice to have on it as it not something everyone likes. We definitely didn't like it. The amount of pickle cauliflower so tiny as well. Our main tapas was good , the churros for desserts were amazing. We'd give a 3/5.
Really enjoyed the restaurant and the food. The passionfruit mojito was especially delicious.
Love the blind tapas I hope you start it up again in the new year
Fantastic food and service, great mixed drinks! Background music is a touch too loud when the restaurant is full, tough to converse with people at your own table. Other than that we’ll keep going back it’s a favourite spot.
Amazing! Soca Kitchen never disappoints! The food was delicious like always and service was great. We had an amazing night and we cannot wait for our next visit! Simply delisious
I like the sharing. Nice place, great service. The steak was not great. Some dishes were quite good but not all.
Great food. The only glitch was the fact that we ordered 6-7 plates of tapas to share and it all came out at once. We had to decide what to eat first before it got cold and the last one did end up being cold. That made us feel rushed to eat and basically rushed to leave. The waitstaff was nice, but didn’t come by more than once as they left us with pitchers of water (maybe to save themselves from coming back?) and never asked if we wanted wine refills. If the food hadn’t been so great, would never consider going back.
Food was delish and the service was great. Highly recommend this resto!
We very much enjoyed the food (especially the Secreto). Unfortunately, it seems they were short staffed the night we were there. While they tried hard (the lone waitress was literally running to the kitchen) it was a long wait for food. The value was quite good though a couple dishes (piquillo peppers stuffed with goat cheese) were quite small and therefore a tad pricey.
We would go back though, the Secreto dish was a knockout and we also really loved the Hamachi crudo
Food was fantastic, the service was good but the servers seemed to be spread too thin for the number of people in-house. The overall experience was good, however, the noise level upstairs was well above tolerance and I could not have any conversation with my partner. When we return, we will choose the much quieter seating downstairs.
Awesome experience at Soca every time I go. Excited to try different items on the menu each time.
We had a very enjoyable evening at the Soca Kitchen. Everyone was delighted with the food which was fresh and innovative. The tapas selection is terrific. There was only one flaw - and a minor one. One of the party ordered a cocktail and it only arrived with the food. Minor but annoying. Cocktails are cocktails after all. Otherwise everything was superb. We were delighted to be able to share our dishes as they were all delicious. Will definitely return.
Staff were friendly and acommodating. Made us feel very welcome. Food was delicious and portions certainly big enough for sharing with our group of 3. Loved the ceviche. We shared 3 tapas dishes and a charcuterie for 2 and we left quite full. Will be back.
Excellent food. The host was wonderful, explained the food and ingredients with some background of where dishes originated. One of these best octopus dishes I have had! The pork tacos were a hit with both my wife and myself.
Well done! We will be back with friends in tow.
Great culinary experience.
I went to Soca for the first time. I had heard positive things about it, but wasn't sure what I'd think of it. The entire experience was great. We tried a number of different things. Everything was very good. Service was fantastic. Our waiter was very good about giving food and drink recommendations. He also gave the right amount of attention (not too much, but we always had everything we needed and things were timed perfectly). Great experience overall.
My family and I took advantage of the blind tasting menu and it was spectacular. Everything that they brought was delicious, even the complementary wine! Overall our dinner was fun, delicious and appetizing to the eye.
Food quality is excellent. Price is as high as the quality of each dish. I Love it and will continue to go back again and again!
Restaurant has just five tables, little bit too close to each other, plus it has "open kitchen", it also makes some noise, not really romantic ÷)
It was our first time, menu wasn't "descriptive" for me, and waiter didn't help, even he tried. So, we ordered just rely on our luck. It wasn't bad at all, the food was good, but not exactly what I would like to eat that night.
Plus we forgot to order bread, which was necessary for the meal we've being served, and we waited for another 10 minutes before we got it.
Overall it is a good place if you like tiny restaurants and familiar with the cuisine.
I was disappointed. After seeing the reviews, this is a good place to visit when they have a special's promotion.
I was in Spain this summer, this is a creative take on the food which is presented nicely but small tapas portions and limited menu for the prices to be so high isnt worth it for me.
Service was okay, not super friendly, seemed like they rushed us out when we didnt order dessert.
Not a lot of choice if you are vegetarian.
Every dish was so tasty and creative. It was wonderful. Tastebuds still lingered after we left the restaurant. Service excellent and pleasant. Would recommend for any foodie occasion which should be anytime.
The food was so good and the service was also great. My friend and I shared the pan serrano, tostones, tacos, and huevos (eggs). My favorites were the pan serrano and tostones but my friend’s favorite was the tacos. I highly recommend sharing everything so you can try more things!
One of the best meals I had!!! The cauliflower steak was amazing with its 2 different sauces and the pulled pork tacos were amazing. The sangria was delicious and the grilled mango with the added cinnamon crisp was fabulous. Fun atmosphere with excellent service. A definite must as it is well worth it.
