We were very pleased with the dinner: a very nice gin-lime cocktail, assortment of tapas we shared, included an excellent set of oysters, charcuterie for two, whole beet salad, octopus, beef strips. Interesting pineapple strips for dessert. Highly recommended, reasonably priced.
A tad pricy, however, worth every penny. The food was outstanding, specifically the tacos and the sourdough bread combinations. The cocktails are so different and delicious too! Will definitely be returning.
We felt we were pressured to order our food and leave the table as quickly as possible. Our server didn’t explain the menu but suggested we should order our main meal at the same time as our charcuterie dish for two. Our mains were then delivered to our table and we were barely 1/2 way through the appetizer. The tapas should be delivered one dish at a time, not when you are eating the appetizer and not when there isn’t enough room on the table. The food was good but not enjoyable, because we were rushed. We wouldn’t recommend this restaurant for that reason.
Great food with great flavor, friendly and helpful staff and great ambiance. Will definitely be back.
Always a good time. Food on point (gotta bring back that Dirty Rice dish though) and the tamarind Mojito to die for.
My girlfriend and me celebrated valentines a day early and were surprised that it wasn't busy at all but it was nice cause we got basically the whole restaurant to ourselves.
We enjoyed the tacos, piqullo peppers, shortrib steak, grilled calamari, and the totistos.
Highly recommend if you enjoy a sharing plate type experiences.
Incredible dinner at The Soca Kitchen! Loved how they pay with sweet and salty in their tapas! I had the calamari, beets, crispy plantain and bread with tomato and everything was outstanding! Next time I will try the charcuterie.
The food was fabulous and the best part is that we could try so many different things with variety of flavors. And the service was fast and friendly :)
I was super excited to try the Soca kitchen. Some of the food we had (the pan guerilla, the beet salad) was super delicious. I found the calamar and tacos to be just good. The churro dessert was a huge let down, and extremely overpriced. An unfortunate way to end the meal. We often waited a long time with empty glasses, waiting for drink orders to be taken and drinks to be brought. The restaurant is in a lovely old building. Unfortunately, this means poor insulation. We sat upstairs and would freeze for 6 minutes, and then feel like we were in a sauna for 6 minutes alternating. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning as it was slightly unpleasant. Overall, I would say that although some of the food was really great, and the service was super friendly and kind, we were a little disappointed.
We were looking for something different from the usual. When we arrived and began reviewing the menu, we then decided to let our server be our guide. Gustav was very helpful, we let him lead our adventure. There were 4 of us and he chose a great selection of sharing plates with lots of variety and the $ amount at the end of the evening we felt was reasonable.
We enjoyed dishes not available elsewhere. And, the originality was tasteful. Recommended for people who want a change from regular fare.
Je regrette que la carte n'était pas bilingue.
So many small tasting dishes to share, I couldn’t finish them, all delish. Good for a romantic outing or with friends! Recommend making a reservation as it is a popular place and tends to fill up rather quickly
My first time at The Soca Kitchen and it will not be my last. To start we all tried different cocktails and I have to say they were all fantastic, the rosa maria was by far my favourite. Then we share a charcuterie and cheese board.. loved the presentation and the pate was outstanding. Then we shared some times (ceviche, tacos, beets and octopus) everything was soo good we opted to go for a whole fried fish! This did it for me.. it was THE BEST FISH I HAVE EVER TRIED.. if you haven’t been to this place, you are missing out! Oh, and the waiter was very spontaneous and knowledgeable! Thank you!
Such an authentic place! The vibe is very Spanish the waiter fantastic and the food is always so earthy and fresh. This dinner really took me back to Spain and lovely Barcelona.
I always come here and it never disappoints.
The upstairs seating is very cozy and confortable. The service staff was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations for tapas, cocktails to start and Spanish wine. Sharing plates were delicious, would recommend for couples. I will be coming back on my next trip to Ottawa.
One of the best restaurants in Hintonburg hands down! The food is irresistibly good, we always share plates, but if you want to get your own you can too!
You can tell everything is fresh and home made. Their calamar is out of this world tender and the cauliflower if the perfect main course leaving you surprisingly satisfied!
Great ambiance upstairs and downstairs, I personally prefer upstairs and the noise level is lower and it feels more like a private dinning scene.
Always a good time and good eats!
