Our choices were big disappointment including the bru sprouts , Canadian eh pizza and sausages
Drinks were good
Prefer their brunch food
Came 15mins before they opened by mistake and they welcomed us in for coffees so we wouldn’t have to wait in cold. Awesome staff!
Great service, great food, great ambiance. This was our first visit. Your web site said wheelchair accessible but my wife, who has mobility issues, found the first step very steep. Kudos to our server.
Way too loud - high ceilings and open concept makes it hard to hear people at your table
Great burger (appreciated the use of local beef from Gateway Farms) and great service!
Flavourful menu, great value, very attentive service.
Didn’t realize. Memorial cup weekend. Resto was good tho and they coped w the hockey folks well. Great service.
First time at the Stubborn Goat. Loved it! Food, service and atmosphere great! It is a bit loud in there but it is part of the over experience. Definitely will be back!
Excellent service and food!
Service was GREAT. Friendly, helpful, understanding. A bit loud with the live Music, but that was just me who did not know about it. It created a good atmosphere. My food was a bit cold (meatballs) and my fries were all the ‘small ends’ Of the fries. But i loved the idea of ‘social food’. Overall we had a good night!
While the stubborn goat offers a great atmosphere, location and social plates. It’s food is very subpar. They have a few stellar dishes while most others are mediocre at best. The servers are nice but it is difficult to get refills, etc. As well, neighbouring tables are very close.
The Stubborn Goat has amazing food, great service, and I love the atmosphere
We had the most fantastic breakfast/brunch at the Stubborn Goat.... smoked salmon, banoffi waffles, buffalo chicken waffle tacos..... all delicious! Now I want to go there for dinner too!
Great brunch and fantastic value
Service was awesome, food was good, love the atmosphere.
Great atmosphere. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable . Great new menu additions. Made the reservation on line, so easy! Had best seat in the house by the window. Not our first visit and definitely not our last.
Ive recommended many many people over the yrs
Espec on the boardwalk location
Fun place with a good vibe - but go for the vibe and drinks - not the food. Sorry to say, but the food lacked taste. No pizzazz. But it was an enjoyable evening due to great service and fun surroundings.
Went for wing night. Service was extremely slow. We were there for over an hour and a half just to each order 1lb of wings which are on the appetizer menu. It took half an hour to even be asked our food order and another half hour for the food to be served. Thankfully the wings were delicious, but they were the only good thing about our visit. I typically love the stubborn goat and have good experiences so was very disappointed by this last visit
We had brunch on a Sunday Morning. The service was fine for coffee and water refills but the food was not the greatest. We could see the kitchen and watched as our food sat there and sat there and got colder and colder.Which was strange given that The Goat says that the food comes to your table as it is ready. This definitely did not happen. All of our food came to the table at the same time.
This is the second time in a row that the food has been less than average.I don't think that we will go back for a very long time.
This is a tough one to write because it's a really popular resto. The four things that turned me and my table mates off were:
1. The excellent server (who was great all evening) advised us after ordering that the style of service is "social" meaning the food comes out when it's ready to ensure it's hot and perfect. Meaning we may receive our meals up to 10 min apart. What? That's abdicating the hardest part of cooking for more than one person!
2. The mushroom risotto was a deep fried hockey puck of dryness. No smooth creamy wonderfulness
3. While the risotto was unexpectedly fried he coconut shrimp was not. It was overcooked and bland.
4. It was expensive. Three mains and one app (just water) was over $100 after tax before tip.
The next night we went to 2 doors down and was blown away.
It’s always a pleasure to visit the Goat. Excellent service, a huge selection of beer and cider, decent wine list and generally very good food. The thin crust pizzas are particularly fine. For me this and the Old Triangle are Halifax’s premier pubs.
Food-wise our table was hit and miss, 4 meals, 2 were great and 2 not so much. However the service and atmosphere will bring us back for another try.
Food was great. Portions were too small. As as appetizers, the food was about right, but the prices were too high, imo.
I was happy with the service. The server was quick and would check up on us but she was very quiet.
The food is what I was disappointed in the most. It came way too quickly (probably 5 mins after being ordered) which indicates it wasn’t made on the spot.
We ordered the lobster Mac and cheese, which only tasted like lobster (no cheese flavouring) and the consistency was off. The roasted Brussels spouts came out either boiled or steamed and was definitely not roasted. The pea croquettes were our least favourite. Not sure why that’s on the menu.
Our favourite appie was the fries. I guess it’s hard to screw up fried potatoes.
I’m not this aggressive ever about food but it was extremely disappointing and I don’t think I’ll be back for food. Probably just drinks and maybe the fries again.
Our server was excellent. Very knowledgeable on menu items as well as beer. Great smiles from staff, made for a comfortable and pleasant dining experience!
We love the Stubborn Goat. This is the second time we have been here and it was just as amazing as the first. The food is delicious, service is very friendly, and price is right! Making a reservation is very easy on line. We will be back, my son picked the Stubborn Goat as the restaurant for his birthday lunch (he just turned 12!). Thanks for making his day special.
We will be back. Portions were perfect, food was delish, and prices were very reasonable.
Try everything, it's all great.
Unfortunately the food was not as good this visit. We've been to your restaurant three other times. We had the chicken pizza this visit and the chicken seemed like "yesterday's" old dark meat. The rest of the pizza was good, but chicken on pizza should be fresh and tender. And this was not. The ambiance is great, the server was friendly, the drink options were wide and varied. Overall, we'll be back... but we'll try something else next time.
super good, food was fast and delicious. even thoguh its loud, the tables are far enough away that it doesnt really affect your party
Only one negative. They need to fix their bathroom.
They have a new brunch menu which we all thought was terrible. None of us will be back
Went for Brunch... great vibe. Meal hit the spot!
My group had a wonderful experience at The Stubborn Goat Gastropub. Our server was very tentative and gave great food and drink recommendations!
They were clean, nice atmosphere, food was great, food came out fast, waitress was very nice. Have been there before and found the nois level high but we were seated at a different table and the nois was not nearly as bad
First time there. My husband and I shared a pizza. It was great!
It was a fantastic dinner I have been their before it’s great food as well as fantastic atmosphere. Little noisy with the music but the food is the best part.
had the fundue.whoever made had gone overboard with the cheese.there was next to no cheese flavour to it,just an off putting wine taste.the rest of the food was fine
Food was excellent. Two of us had the lobster Mac and cheese and it was one of the best we’ve ever had. Truffle fries were great. Waitress was very good and made sure we have everything we needed and was very friendly.
Service was incredible! The food was amazing and the drink as well! We had a wonderful night with friends!
