The patio was too cold
We had tea on the patio because of the covid restrictions and even though it was a bit cold we had an amazing time. The tea and food and service were all fantastic and they even brought a little something extra for my moms birthday. They even had fancy tea hats to borrow for a 5 dollar donation
Food quality disappointing for the price paid, sandwiches cold and soggy, pastries sad looking
The manager was rushing us and making it clear she didn’t want us there. We had a two hour time slot for a gender reveal and she went above and beyond to make us feel unwelcome. This is the first bad review I’ve ever written. There were no other customers in there! Not one. And she truly attempted to make us feel as unwelcome as possible and really dampened my gender reveal. She just stood there scowling at us.
In addition the scones where dry and obviously not cooked fresh that day. I didn’t eat any. No one did. The clotted cream was cream cheese! I’m British and I know the difference. The server we had was doing his best (Jordan). We appreciated him. His manager was literally ruined my gender reveal, continually reminding him to make us hurry up and leave. It was a very special occasion for us and that woman completely ruined it. You should have seen the scowl on her face when we popped the gender reveal balloon. Even though asked first AND offered to tidy it! Jordan was very good about it. Five stars for him. I just feel awful for him working under such an unprofessional and inappropriate manager.
I have been going to the Windsor Arms for High Tea for least 30 years. The High Tea experience has always been excellent. Yesterday was a game changer! Although the ambiance and service was lovely, The food was HORRIBLE!!! The sandwiches were tasteless, sad looking and possibly previously frozen. The sweets were unattractive and uninteresting! The wonderful scones from previous visits replaced with large, dry and crumbling doughy masses! Tea for 2 came to $199.73 pre-tip. Apparently, this was the special holiday tea. A colossal disappointment! Don’t waste your time or money!
The food was obviously previously frozen. Scones were dry.
Server was very kind and helpful, ambiance was very elegant.
Would not come back, especially for $85 per person.
The atmosphere and room were absolutely beautiful. The food was fair, although I found the bread stale on the sandwiches.
We had one waiter, who was very friendly, but service was fine.
Considering the price, I would have expected better tea, food and overall service. We also dearly missed clotted cream.
Excellent, would have been better to have a different selection of cakes instead of bars or mousses eg Victoria sponge cake…a more traditional tea item.
Exceptional experience, service and ambiance were fabulous
The tea was excellent, the food not quite as the little sandwiches are taken from the fridge and they have a moist bottom. The croissants were also stale😢
Service and ambience were outstanding. A nice Anniversary plate was prepared for us🥰Kudos for that
Very disappointed in the cost vs value. We booked for Dec thinking the the weekly costs were $55 only to be presented at a cost of $85 pp at the end of the meal. I spoke to the manager and she stated that the flyer states "prices subject to change at holidays" but we were never at any time told it was $30 pp more. Not in any email or verbal conversations. The food was not great either. You could tell the sandwiches and desserts were mass produced. And for the cost the food was not reflected in its authenticity. The turkey sandwich was a cheap paste ! The desserts were not english at all. We would not recommend this high tea at all.
Excellent server, very attentive.
Product extremely overpriced.
Would recommend with a warning of high cost for experience.
The price advertised at the time of booking was not honoured. They advertised $55.00 for tea and charged $85.00. The staff indicated the hotel can change pricing anytime without notice. Was totally shocked when I went there to find the price increased by $30 per person without notifying me. The manager there was useless and argumentative about not honouring the price they advertised. The service was a little to be desired. For afternoon tea, you expect higher service standards. The food was mediocre. Scones were a little dry, sandwiches were a little stale as it has been in the fridge. The selection of tea was good. I would verify the pricing before going as what they advertise is not what you will be charged. Not worth the $85.00, in my opinion.
Not worth the money, would not do this place again. Food was not that great the scones very dry. The service was excellent though.
A unique experience if you have never had high tea before. Highly recommend. The room could have been decorated much more for Christmas though.
Service was great. Scones were a bit dry but the quiche was lovely.
Not nearly as good as usual. I wrote a detailed critique but it didn't post.
Once again, we received excellent service while enjoying afternoon tea. The food is well presented and tastes delicious. Boxes are provided to take home all the fabulous goodies you cannot eat.
What a wonderful experience! I’m from England and miss my high tea experience! This was pretty close to what I’m used to! Service was top notch food was amazing! Ambience was perfect! I will definitely go back!
Lovely experience, attentive & knowledgeable server. Scones and cream & jams were the best. Sandwiches were ok.
Pretty pricey for some nice sandwiches, a few fancy desserts and tea. The hotel itself and the dining rooms are beautiful - outstanding. I enjoyed the experience but all in all don't think it was worth the high price tag.
I love how quiet it was. The service was very good. The options for the food was ok. It is not worth 75 dollars. Loaded on scones on the first tier and less options on the other two tiers. Too much bread. Mix it up with veggies to wrap sandwiches, etc,
The decor and ambience of the Tea Room was so enchanting. The service was attentive and professional. Looking forward to visiting again soon
I have had many lovely visits to the tea room and Friday's was special because of the people I was with. I feel sure that the pandemic has something to do with the tired look & feel of the Windsor Arms. The wait staff tried hard but the food and ambience was not up to scratch. It was passable but not delicious. They were in the process of putting up Christmas decorations and not only were they a little sad, the people doing it needed some serious help. I hope somebody came to the rescue. Tea at the Windsor Arms has long been a tradition and I will go back as I am willing to give them a bye on my most recent visit. I really want them to survive.
Incredible experience! One of my favorite things I’ve ever done in Toronto.
Very bad. Overpriced. Service was good. However, overall ambience and food was terrible... don't go here.
Nice selection but definitely paying for the ambiance.
Excellent service and great food, well worth the treat!
Lovely environment and high tea experience. Service and food were excellent. Would visit again.
Charming hotel. Charming tea room. Close to subway . Easy to get to. Enjoyed the scones the most. Great tea selection. Well done
The food was all stake, bread for sandwiches was hard. They gave us the wrong tea.
The vibe was nice with the decor but it wasn't well maintained. Bathrooms in poor condition. Looks like an old hotel that wasn't kept up
Took a friend out for afternoon tea at the Windsor Arms and we had a great time! The food was good and the quantity of snacks was more than enough for 2 people. A great selection of teas as well and great service.
Decor is very nice and cozy! Défini recommend!
Not enough attention by server throughout. Price on website was incorrect. Cost had increased by $15 and was only notified when confirming booking 48 hrs ahead. Website should be updated.
Went for high tea as a birthday treat with my mother. Service and scones were were good. Unfortunately the price for high tea went up from $40 per person to $55 per person from the day I made my reservation on Nov 2 (as advertised on their website) to the day we went for high tea Nov 8. So I received an unpleasant surprise when they brought the bill. There was no manager to help sort things out and I have not received a response from Windsor Arms requesting they bill me for the price advertised on their website when I booked.
They need to update the music selection. It can still be refined but not quite as stuffy and predictable.
Beautiful venue but less food for what you're paying compared to other afternoon tea locations
High tea was lovely. Service was excellent, we were disappointed some of our sandwiches were on breads that were out in the air far too long. We had our sitting at 2:30 perhaps next time we will book earlier so we get soft fresh breads.
Service was great. Food was disappointing. Left with a upset stomach.
I was charged 15$ more per person than advertised on their website. I was treating a friend for her birthday and did not feel it was appropriate to contest the bill in the moment. I emailed the hotel afterwards to inquire, and have not received an acknowledgement or response more than a week later. Despite this, my friend and I had a lovely time.
The quality of food was substandard for the price.
