Our second visit. Our server was obviously new and not getting enough support. The food was very tasty.
They discontinued the preshow menu, which is why we went there.
Very impressed. I didn't expect to leave with a full stomach.
The Whitney is a stunning castle with a romantic classic atmosphere.
I love the wine choices, the details in the food preparation and the dessert parlour.
I celebrated a birthday that night and the menu I was presented with had my name on it!
What a keepsake.
Thank you for another amazing night to remember<3
It was so much fun! I enjoyed myself, the ambiance was gorgeous and the food was wonderful.
I made the reservation for our anniversary dinner quickly and easily through open table. The valet was nice. Immediately seated. Beautiful atmosphere and decor. We got personalized meus for our anniversary, and was treated to a few small treats! Our server was wonderful, she knew all about the menu, what to suggest, and answering all questions. The entire experience was delightful and I look forward to maybe attending an event here in the future that isnt just a special occasion.
We had such a fabulous time. Our server, Stephanie, was extra special and we so enjoyed her. She pampered and spoiled mu aunt, who was there for her 86th birthday celebration. The food was divine, the drinks were delicious. We had such a wonderful time I've already recommended it to all my friends!
Greatly enjoyed our evening at The Whitney. The mansion is amazing. The 3rd floor bar was perfect for cocktails... interesting chat with bartender and locals... plus excellent piano player. Our meal was fantastic with excellent service. Same piano player for dinner (a nice bonus). All in all a wonderful way to spend an anniversary.
Great ambience in a historic Detroit home. Food was good well presented and deserts were amazing.
Amazing food, great service! Pianist phenomenal!
We enjoyed the Sunday brunch. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was very good.
Excellent food and atmosphere
Ask for Josh, he was a fantastic servicemen. Thanks for a great evening.
Overall we had a nice time at The Whitney. Really the only thing that was bad were the actual chairs for sitting at the dining room tables. I changed my chair three different times and still ended up with a chair with a worn out cushion and very uncomfortable. We also witnessed two other tables exchanging their chairs in an attempt to find ones that were comfortable.
My wife and I are just empty nesters (woth 2 children off to college and our oldest already married) and decided to treat ourselves to a nice evening out in downtown Detroit. Dinner at the Whitney Mansion did not disappoint! We really enjoyed Brianna's very informational tour of the building for which really enhanced the visit.
My wife really enjoyed visiting the formal dining room where she immediately asked, "Where is the trap door?" This was significant because she had no idea there was actually such a thing in the mansion. My wife explained that once she walked in the room it reminded her of old movies with large homes that all had one so why would this on not. Once Brianna chuckled and said, "Wow, have you been here before?" My wife responded,"No". Then she was immediately told there was one. What a highlight to a great evening. By the way, dinner and dessert was great also!
We are ready to explore so many things together with our new found freedom without extra bags in tow! Thank you kids for preparing us to go have fun.
Thank you Whitney Mansion staff for a great evening!
Abu and Bernadette Young
Amazing service, great atmosphere, wonderful food, and you get to explore the mansion!
Great brunch, excellent food presentations. Excellent price point.
Fantastic food. Ambiance was entertaining. Definitely will visit again!!
Overall great experience but did take longer than expected
Wonderful Brunch, great service and the Whitney is awesome just to see. Food was superb too.
It was our anniversary and my wife's Birthday. Overall, it was wonderful! The waiter-I'm can't remember his name, made us feel like we were the only guests in the restaurant. We plan to make the Whitney our restaurant our place for special occasions. For both of us, it had been over 18 years since we last dined here. That won't happen again. Perfecto!
The food was pretty good, just not that good for the price. The building was amazing and the service was ok. We told our waiter we were going to take a tour of The Mansion before dinner. When we came back, our table was completely cleared and champagne gone. Other than that it was a good time
We went for dinner right after getting engaged. The entire staff was so kind and excited. The food was incredible. It was a perfect celebratory dinner.
My absolutely favorite restaurant in the world (and I've done a bit of international travel, eating at some very fine places)! I love to celebrate special occasions here (I recently brought my mom and sisters here for tea on her 90th birthday) and make sure that my out-of-town friends get an opportunity to experience this "gem" of a restaurant when they come to visit. The food and its presentation was excellent, the staff was very attentive, personable and friendly, and the beauty and elegance of the setting goes without saying. Finishing off the evening by walking upstairs to the dessert parlor was the "icing on the cake," so to speak. I never worry when bringing new guests that they will be disappointed. Overall, just an exceptional dining experience!
A nice meal in a beautiful setting. I loved the quiet ambiance, which is a stark contrast to most dining downtown. It was very relaxing. The servers are very attentive. The food is not as dynamic or creative as it is at the newer restaurants. The menu reads as classic Anglo-American (expect lots of beef and pork). It's a nice to place to get dressed up and go for a special occasion. The building is beautifully preserved with lots of original fixtures and gorgeous details. That alone is worth the price of dinner.
The Whitney is a very special place. We were celebrating my daughter’s 16th birthday, she had the best time, something she will always remember. The house is amazing. The food was delicious. The dessert room added such a special touch. The whole experience was truly unique and so elegant.
Great food. Cool place!
Delicious food. Amazing mansion with original feel. Great menu selections.
We had a lovely brunch. We liked the choices for each course. We would return.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here and had an amazing experience. The service, food and ambiance were perfect, and we had a chance to dance to our song as the pianist played our special request.
My wife and I came here for our 25th wedding anniversary. Beautiful mansion for sure. We showed up early and went up to the Ghostbar for a cocktail before dinner. Enjoyed a glass of wine and a crown n coke as we melted into very soft leather chairs. Food and service were fantastic. Our table was right next to a window looking out at Woodward. This area of Detroit is amazing compared to where it was years ago. Very clean and safe. Go check it out and spend some money in the old hood!
We had a nice evening! Our server went above and beyond for us - we had a great date night!
Wonderful location. The house itself is amazing. The dining rooms nicely set up. But the food was pretty pedestrian and disappointing. How does as chef at a high-end place over - cook a big, thick pork chop (on a quiet night)?? I'd recommend it for the ambience; not the food.
Great food, very good service, beautiful place, wonderful historic site. I recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable evening.
First time visiting the Whitney for brunch and it did not disappoint. Food was very good, and service excellent. The facility is truly one of a kind.
Great as always. The service was outstanding. Such a beautiful venue. Nice choices for Sunday brunch.
We had an amazing dinner and time at the Whitney. The food was outstanding and service great. Wedding on first floor so restaurant put us in room on 2nd floor. Very quiet and perfect for our group. Would go back again.
Great as always!
Always an amazing time! Food, ambiance, and service are always above average!
Excellent as always .My aunt cried when she saw Birthday wishes and her name on the menu . Just one of extras the Whitney does .
Beautiful place. Great history behind it. Excellent food and service. First class all the way.
