The Whitney Ratings and Reviews
Had an awesome experience! Was my second time attending and service and quality was very nice! Will definitely be back!
It was our granddaughter's 14th Birthday..They made it so special..she will never forget this b-day..
Bud Liebler and his staff do an outstanding job to make every meal a special occasion. Great food, service and ambience. A real Detroit gem.
Service was disappointing, waiter didn’t check back after bringing out main course, 3 of us had filets, all ordered med rare, one was med well & 2 more med. when shared w manager, apologized but nothing more.
It was nice as it was first time to Whitney for our nephew in visiting, but I’d be hard press to go back.
The food and service was amazing.
Jacinda was a delight!
My wife and I tried the weekend brunch and were not disappointed. We tried the lobster/shrimp omlet and the cabcake benedict and both were delicious. The service was much more personable and attentive than our previous visit 2 years ago. The Whitney is a lovely historical place, so we are happy it continues to evolve and improve. The Qline stops next to the restaurant, so you can park elsewhere for an event and still have convenient access to the mansion without moving your car.
Food could have been a tat warmer.
Sitting by the window was beautiful although a bit cool.
Steak was a bit over cooked for me but quality was fantastic.
Overall the food was extremely good, service was great. Could have had one more server working the room, waitress was over loaded at times.
The prime rib was amazing.
Had a wonderful anniversary dinner here. The service was amazing and it was a beautiful, cozy way to celebrate. Will definitely return
Lovely meal. Good “nice meal” option in Detroit. Server Jacinta was wonderful.
The original server was rude when we asked about a tour of the mansion. Her response “there is no one available to give you a tour. Anyways we don’t give tours until after your dinner bill is paid.” She made no effort to make our dining experience pleasant and seemed inconvenienced by our presence.
I haven't been to the Whitney in years, and I was afraid their service wouldn't live up to my expectations. I was wrong. The food, service, and atmosphere were all better than I remembered. I was seriously impressed.
Took my wife for the afternoon tea as she had never been to the Whitney before. She really enjoyed it and the service was excellent.
The Whitney never disappoints - food was great and service impeccable.
We went to The Whitney for our anniversary. It was lovely. What a beautiful building! The food and service were outstanding. It was quiet, romantic, not rushed and so special. The dessert room was such a treat. Thank you for a lovely evening!
We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary and were treated so well. Everything was done with our best interests and preferences in mind. The food was delectable; well-prepared; and beautifully presented. The service was exceptional as well. And, one just can't enough of that amazing/historic mansion!! In all, it was a perfectly lovely evening.
From Brian the server....to Joel the pianist....to the dessert staff....everyone is ALWAYS so pleasant...the only complaint that I have...is that it was VERY COLD inside. My guest and myself were FREEZING. So we DID feel a bit rushed through our meal so we could get to the fireplace.
Overall excellent experience at the Whitney. The historic mansion in itself is worth the visit, let alone the amazing cuisine and excellent service. Something to enjoy on every level of the mansion including the very relaxed and exquisite Ghost bar (Old art gallery) to the private dining quarters down to the main floor dining areas. Definitely will be going back for another event. Take the tour as well!!
It was my second time here and the 4 course menu was hit or miss. Apps, salad, and dessert were pretty good, but the wellington wasn't anything to write home about. My dad had the lobster bisque and it wasn't that good. My first time there was much better, but that was years ago.
It was very nice and the food was amazing! Definitely will go back.
Beautiful historic building in Detroit. Great history.
This is a Detroit icon. It could use a little bit of cleaning. it is a beautiful place but there seemed to be a lack of shine. The Christmas decorations did a good job of distracting from the need of a a good cleaning
The mansion is spectacular. Stain glass windows, magnificent wood staircases, comfortable seating, quality service, excellent food, perfect place for my boyfriend's 21st birthday dinner.
They did mention a tour was available on the third level near the bar, but after waiting 20 minutes by the "Tours begin here" sign, no one ever showed up. Oh well, maybe next time.
professional service always a good expirence
True gem! From the moment you walk in the door you take a step back. Service is top notch and never misses a beat. Food is incredible and beautifully served. On our wedding anniversary we had specially printed menus that we got to keep and complimentary champagne. The ambiance is warm and inviting, you don’t even want to leave. I can’t wait to come back again and again!
Best chicken and waffles I've ever had in my life. And I eat a hell of a lot of chicken and waffles. So full of flavor, juicy chicken and unique syrup. I will absolutely go back if I am ever in Detroit area again.
The food was wonderful. The staff were friendly and charming. The atmosphere was lovely. What a special birthday celebration!! The Whitney is a true dining experience!
Don't mess around and just get the beef wellington - trust me.
AH-MAZE-ING!!!! It's a MUST!! The food, the service and the tour was fantastic. Everyone was so incredibly friendly!!
Beautiful place, nicely decorated for Christmas. Chic, classy, great for special occasion, out of town visitors.
Took my wife to celebrate her 60th Birthday, we ordered the chateau briane for 2, the portion was hardly enough for one, the vegetables were barely warm almost cold, the waiter never brought the salad.
We went upstairs for coffee and desert, the heat must not have been working up there because it was cold, the fireplace we sat next to must be for looks as it was not lit. Hope my review saves the next person the nearly 300. I spent there.
From the starters to main course the service and meal was excellent. I wish we lived closer so we could visit more often.
We had a reservation and were seated promptly but not greeted for a while. Poor choices of wine and scotch for a place of this caliber. We ordered off the early dinner menu, whitefish and lobster tail. Salad and soup to start. Tomato soup with crab was great. Took a long time to get the bill at the end. Pricey for value. Better venue for business meals.
Birthday dinner. Really good and the early specials before 6:30 are worth coming a little early for!
It was exciting to be in the beautiful setting of the Whitney, and we enjoyed very much all our food. The only downer was our waiter, who was frankly a little unpleasant--completely unengaged with us, slow to bring water and check, did not offer coffee to all at table, was not pleasant or affirmative, and brought the experience down a notch or two. I would return if I could be sure we would get a friendly waiter--the kind you expect at an elegant restaurant.
The food was good overall but the steak my father had was very poor and full of grissel. Waiter was prompt but not overly friendly. Would have liked a little more cheer and enthusiasm. I was not offered a tour which would have been very nice. Overall, beautiful place.
Warm, cozy atmosphere. Wait staff knowledgeable, attentive, not intrusive. Interesting food selections & variety. Salads outstanding with appropriate dressings. Sophisticated wine selections. Genuinely comfortable accommodations in a grande house that offered a dining experience that was delightful. Certainly looking forward to another visit
Wonderful setting in a beautiful old mansion. Food and service was amazing and really enjoyed the guided tour after the meal.
Never a bad experience at The Whitney!
