   The service was excellent. The main course was very good. The fish was cooked to perfection but needed more sauce to make it delectable and same for the rice. The rice was dry and bland. The salad was excellent especially with more dressing. The dessert was excellent. Overall the experience and food was very good. We come back here again and again because we love it!!

   Lovely restaurant! Enjoyed the location away from hustle & bustle. We had 4 entree choices, with one which could be made vegetarian, so really 5. Had the rib-eye & red gait curry seared ahi. Both are excellent! Both the salad and soup 1st course we're delicious! Pricing for what we got, especially here in Maui were very reasonable! We'll be back, for sure, next thing we're on Maui.

   This was our fourth trip to the Wooden Crate, always for a special occasion. But, I’m sad to say, we were very disappointed this time. We both had pork chops, which were very thick. We weren’t asked how to cook them. We both had to stop eating as they went from cooked to pink to RED! As we got close to the bone, the pork looked like sushi. This is not safe! At that point, we just packed up the food and went home. Once I had the light of my kitchen, I was horrified by what we’d been eating on the dark porch. I called the restaurant a couple times over a few days. They kept sending me to an assistant manager’s answering machine and not calling me back. The health department would be horrified to see the undercooked pork they were serving.

    Location and food were exceptional! The only minus was that the service was very rushed, the courses came out very fast and we were done in less than 1 hr even though the restaurant was not fully booked. Would have appreciated a bit more time between courses.

    New Year’s Eve dinner. Food was tasty but not anything I couldn’t make at home. Setting is rustic but nice. It seemed slightly solemn for the holiday. Not sure I’d go back soon given the other options on the island but it wasn’t bad.

    A great Christmas dinner, pri fixe was $75 per person for 3 courses. The ambiance is quiet, private and hidden. The food is overall good with generous portions, though pricey. All seating is outdoors on the terrace. Would recommend for a special occasion!

    Lovely, relaxing environment with low, mellow music in distance. The food was fresh, crisp and plentiful. They incorporated vegan items into the meal, which we generally enjoy…but they didn’t have the umami flavor that you get with using cream and butter. The prime rib was well done, even though we asked for rare, so that was disappointing. The thanksgiving meal was nice and moist. The dessert buffet was delicious. Good price for farm to table experience. Overall a good experience, especially for after Covid conditions. We would try it again.

    The food and service was outstanding. Charming eating area on the lanai. I ordered a vegetarian dish the Chef had prepared with fresh ingredients from the garden. My husband had the mahi-mahi. Best meals since our last trip to Maui. Will definitely be back. Looking forward to trying something new.

    This is a beautiful little restaurant in a lovely setting. The food is spectacular and everything tasted so fresh. Our server was so kind and made everything that much better. Highly recommend when you’re in Maui and want to escape the crowds of tourists.

    We made reservations here at the suggestion of our Airbnb host. Very happy I followed the suggestion. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and full of history - I hope to come back and experience the Yoga retreat! Our server was extremely personable. She made us feel welcome and there was never a moment we found ourselves looking for her. She was born and rained on Maui, so it was fun chatting the little bit we did about what all we'd done. I am not a huge fan of curry, but that was the menu for the night. I was pleasantly surprised - it was really good! My husband had the steak and he really enjoyed that as well. I love a true farm to table experience, and this was one. Absolutely recommend if you find yourself in Maui wanting some good food and ambience.

    Very disappointing. Steak was over done,. The server did offer to re do but I decided to go with the pad Thai.(there were 3 entree options). The Pad Thai was less than acceptable for a good pad Thai. The sprouts overwhelmed. The taste was non memorable. Desert was a pan Scott’s which was fair. Non creamy and again, unremarkable. The price was outrageous. Very different from what is advertised. I would not recommend.

    If you want a magical dinner in a fairy-tale setting, then you must try The Wooden Crate. The food was beyond delicious, the ambience was soothing, and the service impeccable. This is a "must" for anyone visiting Maui who has always "been there, done that". Give this place a try.

    I live on island and love the Wooden Crate!! This visit was an exception. They usually have an amazing fish dish. Not this time. They had "chicken piccata" which was not good at all. The salad and the desert were amazing however. I look forward to returning another day

    The Wooden Crate is a unique find! The restaurant is on the grounds of a retreat center so be sure to go early and take a walk through the peaceful environment. Not knowing what would be served on the pre-fixed menu was terrific. Nothing to think about!! Garden salad with watermelon and macadamia nuts was outstanding and the swordfish with curry sauce was unconventional and excellent! Service was very good and friendly, wine list was simple yet complimentary. Overall, cost was a bargain compared to some other places we went to in Maui. We will be back on our next vacation!!

    We were guests at Lumeria. We knew that the food was outstanding from prior trips. Even when we aren’t staying on the property we travel to enjoy the amazing salads and fish. Service is outstanding and we particularly enjoyed meeting Ila. My wife and she really connected. Great service. Great food.

    A rare gem and a fantastic culinary experience … Only downside is you don’t know what you get up until you actually arrive. The chef creates a new fix price appetizer and entrée every day and there is nothing else to choose from. If you’re okay with that and open for surprises then it’s one of Mauis rare hidden Gems to go. Currently open only Thursday-Saturday…
