Established in 1988, Thoroughbreds has positioned itself as the Grand Strands leader in Fine Dining with year after year recognition. Most recent being the 2005 locals and visitors top selection in fine dining and most romantic restaurant, Golf Digest Magazine recommended dining and Wine Spectators’ Award of Excellence (we have over 300 wine and champagne selections in our cellar). Among the glut of restaurants in "restaurant row", Thoroughbreds is a modest location with good service, great food, and great atmosphere. Prices were higher than I expected from other ratings. Our bill for three was $50 per person with wine. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Overall it was an enjoyable meal and I would return again.

Tableside preparation of chateaubriand for two and bananas foster was stellar. Service was superior. A great dining experience - and quite unexpected in Myrtle Beach.

My wife and I requested a romantic table for two. Small booth,tucked away in the corner beside the fireplace! WOW! Table seven is very romantic! Staff were excellent! Caesar Salad for two very enjoyable! Top of our list when we vacation in Myrtle Beach!

My wife and I have been dining at Thoroughbreds for years on special occasions. I requested their most romantic table and we got the booth right by the fireplace. It was very quiet and it was almost as if we were there by ourselves, even though the restaurant was fairly full on a Friday night and there were occupied tables close by. The wait staff was very attentive and the Bananas Foster was a both a visual and culinary delight. The main entrees were not quite as tasty as in previous years (the medium rare filet was slightly dry - don't know whether it was the quality of the meat or cooking technique), but everything else was top notch.

The service was great! A well trained wait staff with knowledge of the menu and wine list. The food from the wrapped scallops to the ribeye steaks was outstanding. Keep up the good work.

We ate there late on Saturday night. The service was slow, but we didn't mind as we were not in a rush. The food was excellent, as always and the wait staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

Had the feel of a big city prime steak house with some of the same touches. Menu was good, wine list was impressive. The quality of the seafood was quite good. The quality of the meat, on the other hand, seemed lacking. Certainly not a "prime" steakhouse. Servers were friendly and entertaining...they made for an enjoyable meal.

This was our second visit. While our waiter was amicable, he did have a tendency to spend more time with the two booths behind us. My steak was good and the veal francais was a little lemony but still quite good. There was quite a wait, particularly for the entrees.

This restaurant is fantastic!! My wife and I went here for our anniversary and we had the most wonderful time. The food was prepared perfectly and service was excellent. Free slice of cheesecake for anniversary!

Since Collector's Cafe has gotten bad, Thoroughbred's is the ONLY fine-dining option in Myrtle beach! Great wine, great service (although trainee at next table was clueless) and really good food. The only thing that isn't great is the butter served with the bread which seems to be mixed with sugar.

This was our first trip to Myrtle Beach and one of the best dining experiences EVER !!! From the table side Caesar salad to the Banana's Foster the food was exceptional. Coming from New York we have been to some of the best restaurants in the world and Thoroughbreds is now among " The Best " I will definitely recommend Thoroughbreds.

I ordered duck and my husband ordered sirloin. The duck was ok. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good either. My husband's steak was awful. It was so bad he had to completely smother it in steak sauce. The restaurant was nice and the staff was very friendly. The food was cooked correctly it just tasted as if it was not of good quality.

We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Thoroughbreds. The food was fantastic and the service was very attentive. We started with escargot which had garlic, butter, brie, and breadcrumbs. Need I say more?! We also had the blackened lamb lollipops which we were very happy with. We shared the chateaubriand for 2 which was cooked table side and was served with a variety of sides. Hands down the best creamed spinach I've ever had and the steak was so tender. I highly recommend checking out Thoroughbreds!

Great food. Great Service. Very relaxing and pleasant environment. Without question the best dining experience we had in the North Myrtle area. Best duck I have ever had and the sauce (rum and fruit)couldn't have been any better. Pricey but well worth the cost. If you don't want to pay for a great dining experience, go to McDonalds.

Very good quality food - steaks are outstanding - the intimate setting is a challenge when you have a number of large golfing groups in your room - the wait staff does the best they can, but noise bounces off the brick walls - definitely give it a try, but would encourage a group, not a romantic night for 2

The service, ambiance, and pricing suggest a great restaurant, but the food is most definitely not up to par (and the menu itself leaves something to be desired). I would not recommend for true foodies, but non-foodies will probably be okay with it.

Wonderful restaurant with great food! Will definitely go here again if we ever find ourselves in the area anytime soon. The steak was so tender we could have cut it with our forks, and if you have room for dessert definitely try the apple spice cake. It was amazing! We had the Chateaubriand Bouqetiere as our main course and we loved every bite. Our waiter was very friendly and took good care of us. Our water glassed didn't get two sips low before someone was coming around to fill them again. We were very pleased with our experience Thoroughbreads. It's expensive, but worth the money.

This was my third visit to Thoroughbreds and my first disappoint. Although we had a great table near the fireplace and our waiter was more than accommodating, I was quite dispappointed this time with my filet. I asked for medium rare; received medium well (fully brown throughout). It was replaced promptly but still not cooked to my liking nor was it of the quality and size it should have been for the price paid. As I live locally, I will revisit this restaurant and hope this was just a misfortunate event. BTW, the other 2 diners with me were happy with their meals.

We have enjoyed many excellent meals at Thoroughbreds over the past 20 years and this visit was dissapointing. The filet mignon was excellent but the other items were lackluster at best. Bread had no flavor and possibly was stale, vegetable of the day appeared to be a and tasted like frozen vegetables with no seasoning, and the salad was simply lettuce. Waitress was average and frankly acted like she could care less if we were dining there. Conisdering there were not many diners at 7:30 pm on Saturday night if looks like other folks have noticed the decline. Other restaurant parking lots were full. This was one of our favorite restaurants in Myrtle Beach so we hope they will address some of their issues.

Other than a poor reception and poor initial seating by a less than able hostess(which the manager recitified) we had a wonderful meal. Quite, dark and comfortable. Food was great, and Susie our waitress is a gem. 22 years with the restaurant; sweet, knowledgeable and helpful.

My husband and I both ordered appetizers. Shrimp and Grits and the Pecan Encrusted Duck. I thought the duck was a little overcooked, but still had great flavor! We both ordered the 6 oz filet mignon, which came with mashed potatoes and a house salad. I recommend trying their house dressing, which is a poppy honey mustard. It was delicious! The filet mignon was perfectly cooked! We finished off the evening with cheesecake and the Kentucky derby pie. The cheesecake was really rich and I think it needed a bit more sugar. The Kentucky derby pie was like a chocolate chess pie. It was very good! The service was excellent! In the middle of our dinner, another party was seated next to us and they were quite loud.

Excellent dinner at a warm and cozy place. Food was prepared to perfection and very delicious. Waiter was friendly but not intrusive. Special treat of a piece of cheesecake complete with candle for the birthday celebration. Would highly recommend Thoroughbreds for a special occasion dinner.

Great food, but the table full of loud strippers sitting nearby ruined the experience. The meal was much to expensive to have it spoiled by embarrassing behavior of other diners.
