Toasted Oak Grill & Market Ratings and Reviews
We were at the Toasted Oak for Sunday Brunch prior to heading for a matinee at the Fisher Theatre. It was a great spot and we will do this again.
Really fresh seasonal food and an exceptional selection of wine. Warm, comfortable atmosphere- I loved the fireplace! Our Waiter was charming and knowledgeable. Excellent dining experience.
The cheese board was fabulous and the duck was tasty, juicy and tender. Darrel made our experience wonderful.
Toasted Oak is a fun and unique restaurant. However the past two times I’ve been, th service has been very slow and the waiter came across like he wasn’t actively listening to us. We both had to repeat our orders more than a couple of times.
Left after waiting over 15 minutes without even being greeted by our waiter
The food was unique and excellent. The portion sizes were just right. The wine selection and the wine that we selected was good. The server was very helpful and knowledgeable and had a very pleasing personality.
Though the list of items on the menu was limited but, I understand this is very seasonal and keeps changing. But, the menu items were enough to chose from.
The seating by itself was good but the location where we were seating was not the best. It was right in the way to the lobby of the attached hotel and there was at times traffic passing by.
Was the first time here and found the food awesome and will definitely return again. But the prices do not make it a regular go to place.
First visit. Liked the menu options and made my selection nearly immediately. Couldn't spot it at first, but then realized the venue was the former location of the Novi Chophouse and it was inside the Baronette Renaissance. Our server was very accommodating and attentive. The "almost bottomless" mimosas were also a nice perk ($2 refills) with brunch. It was a little cool due to being near the glass and we changed tables, but can't blame the restaurant at all given the extended deep-freeze we've been going through. A "normal" winter day would probably have been just fine. The string-bulb lit patio looks nice for warmer weather.
The food is outstanding, along with the service. The short rib and sweet potato dish was great. I love the entire atmosphere of the restaurant.
The server was great. Good was delicious, and the drinks top notch. I would recommend to anyone.
We dined there on New Years Day for brunch. Food was great as was our server Matt. Definitely will be back!
Went on double date with friends. It was kind of loud, but ok. Food was good. Server was awesome.
Food and service were excellent. We will be going back again. The only thin I can think of is the restaurant menu did not match the online menu posted on open table and their web site. Went in with a specific item in mind and it was not on the actual menu.
Besides mistaking my daughter as my date it was a good meal with fantastic service.
Hardly got to see the server, who spent most of her time with another table.
Service was disappointing.
Had a wonderful birthday dinner. We had all Vegan dishes.
Ryan, our server, was polite and knowledgeable of the menu. Jackie helped us choose a wine. Ferris, the manager, was outstanding talking with us and making sure our experience was delightful.
Up front let me tell you that management apologized and tried to make things right with a bill discount and a certificate. Also there is going to be a change of menu coming soon with their new chef. But overall - what the heck has happened to one of my (formerly) favorite restaurants? Menu was dumbed down in October. I did not review the very mediocre meal in November - I should have because that portended things to come. This night, of 8 dinners, only the burger was decent. The $30 charcuterie plate had less meat and cheese than the samples Kroger meat deli gives out. Steaks were undercooked and under flavored. Two orders of steak were sent back only to be returned very late in the meal and incorrectly done again. Brussel sprouts were inedible - overpowered by whatever they put on it. The chicken tasted like chicken but not in a good way. Everything is a la carte now? Not worth it. Waitress disappeared for 20 mins without filling the drink order. The restaurant was practically empty. I could go on but all 8 of us left disappointed and frustrated. They charged an 18% gratuity on the before discounted meal cost. Sorry - but that was not right to do given the level of service. All in all a disaster of what was supposed to be s special evening.
The rating is based on our dinner on New Year's Eve. The food was very good. But, it was loud. I think the problem is the ceiling is low with mirrors. The table tops are metal. So, the sounds just bounce off. If it was not New Year Eve, it would still be the same problem with the noise.
The food is very good and the waitress was friendly. However, I would not be a repeat customer.
The service was slow. In their defense they did try to correct it when we brought it to their attention. I was very disappointed with the beet salad. I ordered it as my entree thinking it was going to be like it used to be, substantial size with pistachios and goat cheese. This was like a side salad. Very small and sweet. I won't order it again.
I went out for brunch with my mom and we had an excellent time. We were seated at a table for two by the window and received outstanding service throughout our experience. Try the egg white omelette! It was fantastic!
Menu was very limited and small portions for the prices. Also, the items were a little exotic for our tastes. A simple pasta dish, burger or meatloaf would have been welcome. One entree was not very hot. Server was friendly and took a side dish we didn't like off the bill. Key lime tart dessert was excellent and had a very tasty Manhattan from the bar. Overall, need more menu choices. Was a birthday celebration for my wife and was a little disappointing.
My bread was burnt and server seemed to forget my drink and food, but told me that she didn't forget (but it then came out 15 seconds after). Lunch ends at 2 but this was not explained at all until server told us that we had to order in two mins or move into the bar for happy hour. Overall not the best experience I've had there but would go back.
They’ve changed their menu for the worse recently - missing all out favorites! Also not nearly as kid friendly.
Very disappointing. Took forever to get our food during lunch. Then when it came, one of the sandwiches was just chicken on bread. No sauce, no toppings, nothing. They should have been embarrassed but they weren't. I've had good experiences here in the past but it's gone downhill. Will not go back.
The food was pretty good overall. Just like others have said, slightly bland flavors and overpriced. Probably wouldn’t go back when there are other better options nearby that get you more bang for your buck. The gnocchi and carrot soup were the favorites because they were very flavorful, had uncommon ingredients, and beautifully presented.
I took my friends out to celebrate their engagement. The staff was very accommodating and really took their time with us. The food was fantastic and the beverages were unique yet tasty. Toasted Oak is always an outstanding experience and I can rely on them for any occasion.
Holiday family celebration
Very kind server and he prepared us free sparkling wine for toast!
The cheese and meat sampler was good for start, and the stake was just right taste and the size.
So glad to see the cornbread is back!!
Enjoyed our meal as usual. Service was outstanding along with the new brunch menu!
Amazing ! ! !
The Italian salad was terrible, the 3 of us chose it as the menu was very limited. The meat was chunks of fat that at first I spit out into my napkin then my friend said how terrible the meat was and that it was just fat and gristle, then my cousin said the same thing, finished the salad picking out the fat globs. I chose to replace it with a sandwich which was just mediocre. No apology from the waitress and no reduction in price.
We have been to Toasted Oak several times and would not return after our last visit. The food quality went downhill significantly and the value for what you get is absolutely not worth it. They no longer serve their infamous cornbread but now make you pay about $7 for bread and butter as an “appetizer”. We ordered a half meat and half cheese charcuterie tray for $30 to literally be served one bite sized slice of summer sausage and some bacon shavings along with three pieces of cheese - two of which were bite sized pieces. It was a complete disappointment. I can only assume they are under new management.
We have been to the Toasted Oak Grill several times and have never been disappointed in the service or the food. Keep up the good work!
Great experience with the girls for brunch. Miranda was our server and she was very prompt and knowledgeable.
We love going to Toasted Oak! Always fantastic service and the food is excellent! Chef Ken came out to say hello to us at our table!
This was my fourth experience eating here, and I am not quite sure what happened on this trip, but it was far below the typical excellent experience. Aside from two/four in our party being served their food 15 minutes after the others (food was lost according to server) my meal was not good, sadly. I ordered their signature dish of short ribs and there was more fat than ribs. I had actually asked the server if they were fatty prior to ordering and he assured me they were not. For $40, I would have expected more. Others thought their meals were just ok. This was a disappointing experience overall, but am willing to try again based on the excellent experiences in the past.
The food was exceptional. I never knew beet salad would be that delicious!!
Very limited menu. Just ok. Not impressed
A go-to place for charcuterie in the metro Detroit area. They make much of it themselves and it is nicely presented.
The wine prices are retail plus a $7 corkage fee per person.
Disappointing! You have the price of the bottles of wine on the menu but when comes the check you have to pay more and a dinning fee of 7 dollars for the bottle! We took the pasta plates and the gnocchi, nothing inside the plate for the price! I would not recommend this restaurant anymore!
Really good breakfast! Lemon Ricotta Pancakes are some of the best I've ever had.
No turkey sausage, though :-(
