Tramonto at River Rock Casino Resort
Modern, upscale, Fresh, Local Cuisine. Menu by Design.
The service was good the food was terrible. Ribs tasted like they cooked them three days ago and then heated them up for the third night in a row. Menu is not appealing and wine is over priced. Not what a major hotel wants for there top restaurant. The place needs a major overhaul.
too small portion for the main course, lack of meal selection
The service was excellent. The food was high quality. It's not for the person on a budget, it's meant for the person looking to spoil themselves with a bit of extravagance. Will be going back soon!
Where to begin. The food was very poor and did not taste fresh and tasted like it came from a jar. We started with an antipasto plate that had hardly any items on it. The salami was sliced so thin you could see through it. The Itaian bacon was one slice cut into 8 tiny pieces. It tasted stale. The calamari was greasy, the Kennebeck fries overdone being hard and chewy. The mains were very disappointing. The ribs tasted warmed over and the BBQ sauce tasted out of a bottle and uninspiring. The sausage pasta had at best three pieces of sausage and the sauce tasted like something out of a school lunch program. The Wagyu beef was tender, but came sliced open instead of a steak and the juices ran out. You have to order vegetables a la cart which is ok in a fancy restaurant but in this place it was a gouge. The roasted cauliflower was cold and had no flavour. The salad looked like it came from a bag, and the beet dish had very few roasted beets. Bread was a separate charge - $1.00 per slice. We ordered the sourdough and it was not freshly baked in house but from the grocery store. Dessert was a disaster. The chocolate ganache was advertised to come with a poached pear. We expected more than two thin slices of pear. The butter tart’s crust was inedible and no wonder they gave me a streak knife to cut it (to no avail). There is no draft beer but just stuff in a can. For the six of us the grand total was just over $300.00 before tip. I didn’t complain as we had guests in from out of town and wanted to be polite in front of them. Turns out later they said that was one of the poorest meals they had had and felt bad I was stuck with the bill. They were staying at the resort hotel so that is why we went there. Never again. I hope management reads this and contacts me for some constructive feedback. You have my email.
Tramonto bills itself as a nice Italian style restaurant. It’s not. Save your time and money and go anywhere else.
We had dinner here recently and it is nothing like it used to be. We were excited to bring out of town guests but they have totally changed their menu. It used to be a great Italian west coast type restaurant with great servers and yummy food. Our group struggled to find something we wanted to eat and the portions were small so the guys of our group were still hungry when we left. It is very much geared towards the traditional Chinese eater now with a meal that even says "tongue" and "extra parts" of the duck on it. gross.
The server seemed inexperienced, didn't come around often enough and was not smooth like a higher end restaurant should have. Overall we won't be back and was disappointing. The view was great. that's all they have going for it now.
We had a nice time. but the issue was the prices and the limited menu items. We ended up going downstairs to Curve. We had lettuce wraps and the Bombay curry dish and two more drinks each.
The prices were reasonable and the menu was varied.
Food and Chris always fabulous! Love all of the staff!
Fraser Valley Duck was a bit salty, but the texture was good, very tender. 24oz porter steak was great, flavorful and juicy. Service was great too, very tentative.
We have always had great meals and service in past ,the New direction of restaurant with the new menu , the downscale of room just does not work ...service still great !!
Food quality and taste were surprisingly good from the unadorned plate presentation, attentive wait-person who lacks hi-end experience. Cafeteria ambience with white tablecloth menu!
We went for a nice dinner was only 2 other tables in Resturant at the time. One of the other tables was 6 people who were loud, and seemed to get a lot of service, at one point all 3 servers working were waiting on their table. The waiter we had was very nice and gave us adequate service. We ordered "White" asparagus off the menu and got "Green" when we questioned a server about that, see had a oh well to bad for you attitude. "White" was clearly on the Menu and also posted in the lobby. Otherwise the food was good but did not live up to the price;I had a Sausage pasta dish, sorry forgot the name ; and it was way more pasta than sausage and the it was sliced up in the pasta and again the seemed to indicate that it was whole sausage but maybe I was wrong. We will not go out of our way to eat there again.
Good service, very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately while the food itself was good, the portions were very small and the Ling Cod didn’t even come with a side for $20. You had to buy a side of veg for $11+. The pieces of fish were small and overall we felt it was very good value for money.
Worse experience of my life.
Our party was looking for a venue where we could listen to each other, enjoy the view and appreciate the new menu. The dishes were explained in detail and the service was as expected.
I loved the view and the service - but, the food was disappointing. It was a special occasion and after discussion, if we could change our plans - we would have eaten somewhere else. We found the portion size small, the food itself didn't taste that great (over salted fried, unseasoned cauliflower, tasteless cod), and there wasn't much variety in terms of "sides" to choose from. It would have been nice to have more variety on the menu and have the food taste standard higher. We all got hungry an hour or two later and had to eat somewhere else after our dining experience. Thank you for your booking accommodations though - much appreciated.
We Had high expectations for this restaurant as the River rock has excellent food and service generally. We wanted to go to one of the restaurants we haven’t been to and wanted to have the view as I knew at faced the marina. The food choices are very limited and we had a tough time picking out what to eat. After a couple of disappointing share dishes three of us got the pasta dish but unfortunately had no flavour and the noodles did not feel cooked. I was hoping to say that this was a great experience but unfortunately we all left disappointed and with a very large bill.
Would like to see more on the menu. Portion sizes are small and not all dishes were good. Some were. Waiter was annoying!! View was great. Was not busy so food arrived quickly.
I do not like the new menu. The old menu had better selection and better food. And better prices on the other menu our server was awesome the view was awesome.
We love visiting Tramonto's for our special occasion dinners!
The food is always expertly prepared and presented. My only criticism, I feel that the portions could be larger for the prices. I have to admit however, this will not stop us from returning!
Being able to enjoy a wonderful meal and watch a sunset over our gorgeous Vancouver mountains is priceless.
Service was very good. Our server was very knowledgeable and he would explain everything how the chef made the food that’s why it was a fun experience. Food was really good!
Average food, average venue, slightly worn. Nothing outstanding here with the exception of the server who was enjoyable and professional and the hostess who was delightful and very helpful. Nevertheless we had a good evening largely due to the company.
new menu concept dosn't work for me.Choosing a (protein) rather than a meal is not the direction I would choose.Choice is o.k.but paying extra if you want more than a piece of protein, no way. There is no sizzle in protein.A weird form of buffet without variety which is already offered across the hall.I would come come back for a meal.In spite of the rant the service and atmosphere (we could talk) were very enjoyable.Short food choice menu, really, really huge beverage menu. Will check menu next time.
For the price point, the food was not great. Bland dry fish with a bland soup that had two small pieces of seafood...disappointing.
Food good as usual but way less choices than before.
Service always good.
Wide selection of wine but price very high, even higher than those nice restaurant in DT area.
Suggest order half litre than open a bottle.
The staff is always professional and fabulous. The cuisine is exquisite. We have never had a bad meal, bad server or bad experience. We usually eat at Tramonto 6 to 8 times a year. We would highly recommend Tramonto to anyone.
Selection from the menu is limited as a hotel restaurant. Service is great
Food was tasty overall, however not a 'wow'. The prawn soup was slightly on the watery side, not thick enough even though it was flavourful. Excellent and attentive service made up for the less than standout food. Also felt Italian and menu offerings were light...
Before I booked reservation online for my group of 4, I of course looked at all the online reviews for restaurants in the area. This place has great reviews online and the front desk clerk of the River Rock Hotel described Tramonto as an authentic Italian restaurant. I'm not sure if he has ever been to an authentic Italian restaurant before, but this is definitely not it.
Although the food did taste great, the portion size left a lot to be desired. The ambiance of the restaurant was a little off too. Not as elegant as described on OpenTable.
My 3 guests made sure to poke fun at me for picking this place, as they left feeling as disappointed as I did.
I would give the event menu 3.5 /5 as the food portion is soooo small. It did not mention how small the main dish is. I will rate the restaurant 5 /5 very good food and service, plus music. I can see that the regular menu food is very expensive and with more food in each dish. Recommend they make the event worth more. I won't really join the event next time for this restaurant.
GREAT FOOD , PROFESSIONAL SERVICE,GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF WINE LIST,
OUR FAVORITE PLACE TO DINE AND ENTERTAIN OUR GUESTS.
Convenient... in the RiverRock Casino. Went there with friends for New Year's Eve dinner. Prices are on par with downtown Vancouver restaurants, but the food was only fair to good. Some of the chef's food combinations were odd, for example bits of undercooked cauliflower served with wild boar with fig sauce. This probably would be a better place for lunch or brunch... nice view over the river.
Food was outstanding, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Great atmosphere. Overall experience was fantastic. Highly recommend.
We had the best server! He is an older man and he was really patient with our questions about the wines and the food. He checked on us with the right amount, and he also shared with us some of his life stories.
The food was also really tasty. We ordered two appetizers: scallop with risotto, and local oysters with champagne pearls. The risotto was served with a soft boiled egg; while the yolk mixing with the risotto made it more creamy, we think a quail egg would be a better size than a chicken egg given the amount of risotto. The scallops were cooked to perfection with a really nice smokiness. The oysters tasted quite fresh, but we are not sure if the champagne pearls added anything other than the texture (which we didn’t quite like).
I have ordered the wild boar chop as my main course, and I really liked it. The server recommended medium cooked. To be honest, I was skeptical about it because we all have heard pork needs to cook to well done. But I am so glad I went with his recommendation on the level of doneness. The meat was tender but a bit under seasoned on its own, but with the sauce, the amount of seasoning tasted just right.
My sister ordered the duck breast and that was probably the best duck breast we have ever had. There was a bit of an Asian favour; if you have had the Cantonese roast duck, that is the favour I am talking about, but just a hint, enough for us to detect but not too much to cover the other favours.
My mum ordered the fish dish. We wanted the sable fish but their menu changed to ling cod that night. Fish was cooked well, but my mum said the flavour was not that good. She thinks it would be way better with sable fish.
Dessert is a must in our household. The creme brûlée was okay, but we didn’t like the citrus flavour and the runny texture that much. The frozen chestnut panna cotta was way better in our opinion. Not only we could taste the chestnut, but it also had the texture of the chestnut.
All in all, highly recommended.
Very nice. My salmon was great. Vegetables were not warm. Chocolate ganache was minimal. Service was outstanding!
Dinner for 5 was excellent and service was exceptional. Meals were all served hot all at the same time and quality of cuisine was fresh, innovative and beautifully presented. We all enjoyed our Christmas celebration there and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant for special occasions.
The staff is exceptionally courteous and professional.
Terrible experience. The food and service was awful. The restaurant was empty, the waiter was rude and we had to send our food back - cold food - 4 different dishes. Unacceptable. Go somewhere else!
The table cloths are gone, the sable fish is no longer roasted, but the waiter is still the perfect example of a 5* server.
If I was opening a restaurant in Vancouver I would poach him.
But back to the meal, we had the oysters and superb scallop dishes followed by the sable fish as mentioned, as well as a fantastic chicken dish.
The parking is not good.
Our waiter was very attentive but the food was brought out in 10 minutes after the order was taken. You can make your own conclusions. We ordered salmon which was cold on the inside (perhaps it had been microwaved. The sable fish was very salty and the portions were extremely small for the high price we paid. Hope this is helpful.
