Food very underwhelming. We ate here in the past and had a great experience but this time was not so great. Service felt rushed, food was average and very limited choice for vegetarians. Don’t think we will return.
Service and food very good and would recommend to others. Major drawback was the noise level and our guests could not hear what we were saying and they set up another time to meet to chat as they had difficulty with this due to noise level.
Such a beautiful restaurant with the loveliest staff members. THE BEST pasta, oh my goodness.
We had a very enjoyable meal with family. Each of our entree selections were well prepared. There was a wide menu selection which accommodated our preferences and intolerances.
Great share plates. Love the open kitchen. But it gets way too noisy for conversation.
Great service and great food as per usual - no disappoints
The food was so delicious - I highly recommend the platters as they give you the opportunity to try a nice variety of foods. Quite loud, but we did go on a Friday night so that was to be expected.
Food was sub-par at best.
Excellent staff. Had the special, very good. Love wine Wednesday’s.
Terrible food. Was going to eat dinner and only managed to order one appetizer it was that bad. The server asked while bringing the bill if the food was okay. I said it was okay, he went to manager and came back with “my manager says, pay what is fair”. What is that? Haha I’ve worked in the industry for years and have never heard of a restaurant ran that way. It was odd and made me uncomfortable. I paid the entire bill and left awkward... won’t be going back.
All our pasta meals were delicious and the beef carpaccio was out if this world delicious
Everything was fantastic. Burrata & prosciutto appetizer followed by linguini carbonara, so good. Service was friendly and attentive. Will be back again
Food and service were excellent.
Tables were close together and we could hear the conversation beside us clearly.
Food was very good. Wild mushroom ravioli with truffle cream sauce & pine nuts was perfectly cooked and utterly delicious. The warm zeppole donuts stuffed with gianduje chocolate was great way to end the meal! Only negative was smoke & smells from the open kitchen lingered in my clothes, coat & hair. Yuck. Other than that, food was very good. Maybe, sit on the other side of the dining room. Highly recommend.
Great dining experience! Try the pasta platter for two. So delicious.
Absolutely!!!!....The Caprese Salad and pasta and meatballs were EXCELLENT!
Didn’t give me a free cake
We went for Valentine’s Day and the staff was very friendly. The food however was disappointing. For appetizer we had the bruschetta which was quite tasty. I ordered the tomato sauce pasta with olives and shrimp. My pasta tasted like a canned sauce and my partner’s lamb shank was very under seasoned and his risotto tasted burnt.
The ambiance and staff was so friendly so it was a nice date but for the price I would not come back.

It was Valentines Day and very busy. Special meal was a platter including lobster tail, veal chop, prawns, pasta. Veal chop was tough, whole platter was Luke warm at best. We have been to Trattoria many time and will go again many times because it is a favourite of our. This was the only poor experience we have there.

Our server was very nice and friendly!
We were four people— we had reservations. Arrived a couple of minutes early and our table was ready within a minute. We ordered appetizers, mains and desserts and everything was delicious. The ambiance was pleasant. The noise level at the beginning felt a big loud but not uncomfortable and seemed better by the time we started eating. Our seating was at 9:30pm so it may have had to do with the fact the restaurant was a bit less busy by then. Overall very good experience as we have come to expect from all our previous times at Trattoria.
Our dinner was excellent. We shared a very good Caesar salad. My husband had veal saltimbocca and said it was one of the best. I had cannelloni. It was good but too much noodle around it. It was a lively neighborhood restaurant, a bit noisy but had a fun feel to it.
The food is always great there. The Dineout menu was $25, the food was so-so but great value for money !!
Fairly reasonably priced Italian restaurant, don't be expecting top quality with extra frills though
Service was great. The food was so so. There were four of us, the mains were just ok but the desserts were not done well at all.
Music too loud for venue type. Otherwise wonderful food, great price.
We've been to this restaurant before and this time tried their 'Dine Out' menu.
Very disappointing. Salty soup and badly overcooked gnocchi.
Service as always was wonderful.
Delicious and amazing value.
Waited for a long time and had to flag the server after a long absence to get drink refills...
And the one thing that will probably keep us away though, was the head chef yelling constantly at the top of his lungs announcing whatever dish was ready for pick up or at his kitchen staff. Extremely annoying, so loud we often couldn’t each other’s conversation with each other, and just constant disruption and interference with our experience to the point that we discussed how we should get on yelp about this. Really destroyed the ambiance, and what otherwise could have been a lovely evening.
Hi Anonymous, Thank you kindly for your review and our sincere apologies for the less than ideal ambience and service you experienced. I will be following up with our Chef and service team to ensure this is corrected. Thank you once again for taking the time to review Trattoria Kitsilano. Our team always appreciates honest feedback. It motivates us to strive a little higher to provide the great food our brand is known for. Sincerely, Racquel DeVos General Manager
I would recommend this restaurant but NOT for or during Dine Out Vancouver. The food is mass produced so it lacks the personal touch that I am used to in this restaurant.
It is very loud and the open style kitchen contributes largely to the sound pollution.
Staff friendly and service good.
Don’t even come for Dine Out here. Portion was so tiny (chicken).
Went during dine out Vancouver. The service was quick, good portion sizes and great tasting food!
Good place, but bad night. The Dine Out gnocchi was overcooked to the point of being mush, but the appetizer and dessert were okay. I also got a horribly painful stomachache shortly after eating, preventing me from enjoying the experience. Overall very disappointing, as I have been to Trattoria several times and always loved it. I hope this was just a fluke and not indicative of their future quality.
We attended Trattoria for Dine Out Vancouver, and while the menu was only $25pp, it definitely wasn't worth it.
The service we received was fine -our server was polite and welcoming at the beginning, but rarely checked in on us. However, the food was extremely sub-par. I had the gnocchi and my partner had the veal t-bone. My gnocchi was cooked to mush, with the pasta barely holding its shape (it was more like eating mashed potatoes than pasta). On the other hand, the veal t-bone was chewy and cooked inconsistently. Unfortunately, we were not able to bring these problems to the attention of our server as he did not check in on us until we were ready for the bill.
All in all, I would not recommend Trattoria -for Dine Out at least.
Great value Dine Out. Food was delicious and great service.
Another excellent experience at this restaurant. Friendly front of house, super chefs and good food make this a place we will continue to come back to.
Hi Phil, Thank you for your kind review. I am happy to hear you enjoyed your visit with us. I will be sure to let the team know. We will see you again soon :) Grazie!, Racquel DeVos General Manager
This was a birthday celebration and we informed the restaurant. No acknowledgement, no greeting the birthday person. Food was mediocre at best.
Birthday lunch with friend
We went for Dineout Vancouver. My partner and I both had the french onion soup, and she had the chicken entree while I had the veal so we could both taste them, and the fruit smash for dessert. The french onion soup was rich, and one of the better ones I've had. We both agreed that the chicken tasted a bit off, with a very poor portion size. There was more breading than there was chicken. The veal t-bone was absolutely amazing! It was tender, flavourful, and a pretty generous portion size. The dessert was very fun, with cream, meringue, and an assortment of fruits and purees to mix and try together. A bit on the noisier side, but our service was always friendly but not overbearing. Overall we were definitely happy with our experience, and will be back. Maybe we'll skip the chicken though.
