The food was definitely sub standard- and the service about the same - they were unable to make a latte with soy/almond milk - this is Kitsilano! I’ve been there twice and both times - not at all impressed-
We chose Trattoria for brunch because of a special promotion we received and we had never been. The deal of the promotion was excellent value. The food was excellent and we appreciated the option to exclude meat from our brunch platter.
A few notes of improvement:
- For a restaurant on W4th and in Kits Trattoria needs to have non dairy options such as Soy or Almond milk when I asked they said no just regular milk AND I heard other guests make the request as well
- Included with our promotion was dessert which the server said she would bring and she ended up forgetting and we left without it - that left a bit of a disappointment for us
Overall as mentioned it was excellent value for brunch for two and the food was great.
Brian was great a great host
yum - food was delicious and I had to be rolled out of the restaurant because I ate so much. Totally worth it.
We had a mix up with our dinner order, so one entree had to be redone, and therefore we didn't get to eat together, which was disappointing. The wine we ordered was not in stock, so we had to upgrade to a more expensive one. But the food was delicious, and the server was apologetic, so we were ok.
We came for a quick dinner before the Theatre and were impressed. I enjoyed the Beef Carpaccio, the Gamberi Genoese Pizza and best of all the Crab and Lobster Ravioli.
I could have eaten it all again. I would totally recommend coming for a visit.
Very good food, a lot of choices between typical Italian dishes, pizza pasta milanese scallop... and an nice wine list, that we enjoyed especially with the 50% off on Wednesday.
Our waiter Greg, was very nice, speaking french with us when he heard our strong accent !!!
I recommend this place.
Good food. Friendly service. Always good.
Usually a good spot for for, but today the service was lackluster. Gin Martini arrived somewhat cool and not chilled,
the Caesar Salad was swimming in dressing and the salmon was undercooked even though we waited for quite a long time for food to be served.
The server would interrupt our conversation for food quality check barely a bite in, and it seemed like standard operating procedure rather than genuine interest and care.
Tiramisu was pretty delicious otherwise...but the whole food experience seemed rushed even though the place was half full on a Sunday early evening.
I'll be back, but I'll wager other choices before I come back here. Maybe it was just a bad night.
My server was not good. Food was a very greasy.it was not very kids friendly no air con I wouldn’t recommend this location on 4th
The food was excellent! Great choices, great taste! The service was great too!
We had a great fun evening and our server was Nicholas who was awesome. He allowed us our space yet was very attentive, engaging and funny.
We sat there for a good 20 mins before anyone came to our table to take our order. Tables that were seated after us got served before we were. I also saw the manager point to our table to a couple of waitresses/waiters but he was the one who ended up taking our orders. Seemed as if the waitresses/waiters were avoiding our table.
Spaghetti and meatballs was nothing special. Chicken cutlet was good.
Waffle was dry. Eggs for egg benefit feels like a hard boiled egg. Otherwise the rest of the food is okay.
My friend and I came here for brunch last Saturday. The food was good and our server was outstanding - he was above and beyond our expectations for outstanding service. I will come back again soon.
Always great energy with excellent wait staff (thanks Zoe). Consistently good
We loved our night dining here. The service and food was excellent. I would recommend for a group of friends.
I ordered the gluten free vegetarian pasta, because last time I had it it was delicious. This time even though I was starving I couldn’t eat it. Pasta was over cooked and I have no idea what they did with the sauce but nothing stuck to the noodles so a spoon would have helped to at least get sauce, (which wasn’t tasty at all) and pasta in the same mouthful.
My friend wanted a sweeter wine and the one they brought she didn’t like and they wouldn’t open another bottle of a different wine for her to be able to at least have a taste and order the preference of the 2.
I will NOT go back to Trattoria again.
We have been to the place many times. Recently they changed the menu and removed the bruschetta sampler. Very disappointing. Anyway we ordered the tomato bruschetta instead. Don't do it! 3 tiny pieces of bread with some tomato bits drizzled with oil. $13.95. Absolutely obscene to charge that for that. Other menu prices have gone up as well. It's not even a fancy restaurant but part of a chain... Owned by a very rich Vancouver couple who have clearly become very greedy.
Although the walls and decor seem nice enough, somehow it felt like a cafeteria a bit—the ambience is somehow lacking. Food was great and while our server was great - clearly a manager or someone a bit more in charge - we could sense that people around us were often looking for staff and not finding. Lots of tables had kids for 8:45 on a Friday so it must be known as kid friendly. The same food for the same price at global or another trattoria might make for a more special evening.
The food and the service was outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend.
Sunday evening fairly busy but our order tool an awfully long time to arrive and when it did arrive not all arrived at the same time. Excuse was a large party. I'm just not sure that other patrons should suffer because of a large party ahead of us. They new they were having a large party ergo get enough front and back line staff so that everyone receives greay service. Our server was a very good and it was not his fault. Make sure to ask if there is a large party the night you go
Sat on Patio andit was an enjoyable Mel. I had veal parmagen with side of pasta my wife had salmon on and gluten free Pasta. Glen was an excellent served
We went for brunch. My meal (hash) was quite good. The rest of the meals were just ok. Service was ok.
The food was fresh and well prepared, and came very quickly. We also appreciated the excellent service. It was crowded, so best to book ahead or get there early.
A pleasant dinner
I went with friends on Saturday and everything was amazing. The lights were low, the service was excellent. My friends greatly enjoyed the food and o especially enjoyed the wine.
I returned with my son on Sunday as he took me out for Father’s Day.
Sunday was a bit of a disappointment:
The lights were up brightly like they were ready to close and our server was not very personal, friendly or helpful.
Food and wine were great on both nights.
I will definitely go back even if I have to take my chances on service and too much light.
Our server was fantastic and attentive, food was quick, fabulous and a great value, and the ambiance is perfect! Trattoria Kitsilano always meets our expectations!
Decent food fair price not going to win any awards but we enjoy it as a good neighbourhood Italian dining
Food was average, Waiter seemed rushed/ was rushing us, Setting is getting a bit old
We brought our mom
For Mother’s Day brunch. Food was great fast and friendly service.
We had another great dinner! Zoe was terrific and very attentive as our server. Looking forward to our return!
Very nice casual venue. The mussels very delicious but my carbonara was on the salty side.
Overall a good place to meet friend for a fun dinner.
I was trying to order their pizza and the server told me they were out of procutto, then I tried to order steak, the server said they were out of steak. And I tried or order Lamb and he said they were out of lamb, WTF?! Pasta was good but seriously. What kind of restaurant is out of everything a customer is trying to order out of their menu......
Will definitely be back!
Expected better food for the price. As it’s Italian restaurant expectation of tastiness was not met.
Wait staff is very attentive yet very patient. The food is reasonably priced & cooked to satisfaction. I would say Trattoria is a place that is suitable for a mid-range budget, while showing your guest or date that effort to make them feel special was implemented.
Fantastic restaurant with delicious food. So many options to choose from regarding food, and also a wonderful wine and local beer selection.
