Treadwell Farm-to-Table Cuisine- Niagara on the lake
We came for Sunday brunch. The level of service and quality of the food was good, but not at the level we expected for the amount of hype and the price. Nothing was "wrong" per se, but it was not a notable dining experience with regard to service or food.
Celebrated our first anniversary. Sat at the counter - so happy we did! So interesting to see the speed and efficiency with which such delicious food is prepared. They greeted us with on the house sparkling due to our occasion. Server was very helpful with both food and wine ideas, sommelier to pour was great! Learned a lot about the wine (they have a very thoughtfully put together list). Food was really exceptional - we loved every dish. Split the gnocchi to start (they plated separately which is a nice touch), husband had the pork and I had the halibut. Ended with crème brûlée. Thank you to everyone at Treadwell’s for making our evening so memorable!
You will not be disappointed!! Wonderful mix of local ingredients that come together to make simply amazing food!!!
Best meal we’ve had this year. Fun and relaxed. Didn’t feel rushed. Great waiter, sommelier to help with wine choices. Whenever we head back to Niagara on the Lake we will be sure to eat at Treadwell.
We visited Treadwell for our 6th wedding anniversary and were treated w/ exceptional service by the sommelier and our server. They knew when to visit our table and when to leave us alone to enjoy our delectable meal. The food was cooked to perfection and the staff were very generous in helping us celebrate our special occasion. Thank you. We will return and recommend you to friends/family.
We have been to Treadwell probably 20 times. Always a great experience, great food, never any issues. Went June 21st for lunch, immediately caught attitude from the hostess. This restaurant is full of professionals, from wait staff, to kitchen staff. The staff is helpful in every way, but this hostess was not, rude from the very beginning. If this is the face of the restaurant, why would you employ the person?
Sat at the bar to watch the chefs cook. We had an amazing dinner with exceptional service. We had a food allergy in our party and the waiter was so knowledgeable on the menu ingredients which made a big difference.
Gnocchi was gorgeous as was the Riesling. Service was warm and friendly too
Love the ambience and friendly knowledgeable waitress. The food was fresh and prepared perfectly~ Not drenched in butter and spices. I felt like I was eating healthy food prepared by a chef that knows how to flavor a dish by putting together the right items and just the right amount of seasoning.
Stay away from the vegetarian/vegan menu! What a disappointment. One item offered was a medley of sunflower seeds, roasted vegetables, sunchokes and mushrooms. I thought it would be mainly vegetables with some sunflower seeds... it was literally about 1 cup of sunflower seeds with two asparagus, 5 little SunChokes and about 3 mushrooms. It was literally like eating a bowl of sunflower seeds! The flavour was nice but it was a joke - a 22$ joke!
Very disappointed as I’ve eaten here a handful of times and this is not on par with the other food items. I’ve eaten at a vegetarian restaurant before that was delicious - so really theres no excuse.
Also, the atmosphere inside the restaurant area that doesn’t contain the bar, feels a little cafeteria like. The outside patio is lovely however and the main dining are inside is nice too.
Outstanding. We could not get in a couple of vinyards that morning for a Fathers Day brunch. However, we did get in at Treadwell and I think it was the best choice. Food and service was fabulous !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great service, friendly staff and amazing food. All round great place to go.
Food and wine excellent
This our second time at Treadwell. The food, servers and ambience were 5 star both times. This trip however, while the servers and somaliers were excellent again the food service took too long with a huge gap between appetizers and main courses. I am ok with a long enjoyable dinner, but this started to bother my guests and me. This will not stop me from returning or recommending Treadwell because of the quality of their food.
The food and atmosphere were outstanding. My husband had the duck special and I had the halibut. The sommelier brought over a delicious sparkling Riesling to toast our 1st anniversary. Unfortunately, we indulged too much on pre-dinner snack and drinks prior to the meal so we were full far too prematurely! I believe our waiter thought that we did not enjoy our meal but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. We promise to return with completely empty stomachs :)
The food was incredible- we greatly enjoyed dining here and highly recommend it. The only problem was the noise level was high which made it difficult for someone with hearing problems. Other than that, we had a wonderful time here and would love to return.
This was by far the best meal we had during our visit to Canada. Well done Treadwell!
We came to celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary and had an amazing time... food was delicious and service was to perfection!!
Sat at the bar area where all the cooking takes place. It was a great experience, equivalent to dinner and a show! It was wonderful watching different courses being prepared and helped us make our own dinner choices. The chefs were great entertainment too. And the food was fantastic
Everything was so good and seafood and fish well prepared. It is a very special dining experience!
Food was very good but service was very slow. Unfortunately there was construction nearby and the noise made it unpleasant to eat on the terrace.
Glad we ate there but wouldn’t rush back.
One of the best restaurant experiences we have ever had. We travel (extensively) with our pets and we were overwhelmed by their hospitality and quality . We would visit Niagara-on-the-Lake just to dine at this lovely restaurant again.
Fantastic experience, both good and service.
Our second time at Treadwells..we come to NOTL once a year and are always looking to try a new restaurant. We had to ask our waitress to please describe in more detail exactly what some dishes had in them, which she did knowledgeably. The 4 of us tried the chicken dish, beef sirloin and beef short rib dishes ( the feature of the day) and all were equally delicious. The chicken with the crispy skin was juicy and flavorful, the short ribs had an Oriental flair with a delicious sauce and sesame seeds and the beef sirloin was done to perfection medium rare. The waitstaff were wonderful, atmosphere both inside and out was cozy and not loud..all in all we left thinking, “we’ll be back next year..for sure”!
Excellent food. The roasted red pepper soup was intense with a lovely balance of richness and citrus edge complemented by the sheep mild yoghurt. My husband's sea scallops with pork belly was melt in the mouth delicious with a great combination of the light but very tasty scallops and rich melting pork with the cauliflower a crunchy complement to the other textures. We stayed with the sea for mains: the halibut was perfectly cooked and the fresh peas (my favourite) was delightful, topped off with smoked bacon and a poached egg which somehow accentuated the flavour of the halibut. The other main was arctic char, perfectly cooked and scented with lobster. the wine selection was very good, a glass of local Kew vineyards sparkling wine was light but paired well with the soup while an aromatic Cave Spring Riesling was perfect with the scallops. with the fish we had a Tawse Chardonnay, complex and fruity and a Reif Drea Sauvignon Blanc, quite different from the average SB with more layers of flavour. So the food and wine were great, service was reasonably efficient (one definite longeur while waiting to order) but .... our waiter was trying too too hard to please to the level of fawning gratitude every time we ordered anything. It was a weird mixture of formality and familiarity which totally jarred. The other staff were relaxed and lovely.
Lovely evening - we ate outside. Service, food was excellent. Gnocchi was the table fav, but not without a discussion about how good everything was.
Excellent food and service. Pricing was fair for high quality of food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back!
Great food. Good service. The food took a long time to come out. We were seated at 8:30pm and our main did not come out until 10pm.
Was everything we could have hoped for on a special evening out. Service from Sarah was both professional and personal. Food was as advertised; outstanding. Wine list extensive but pricey. We will be back to eat at the Chef Counter over looking the kitchen next time.
THIS WAS OUR 2ND YEAR RETURNING TO YOUR RESTAURANT AND SO LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR FAVORITE MEALS WHICH TURN OUT TO BE DISAPPOINTING.
YOU DID NOT HAVE THE LOBSTER OFFERING AND MY HUSBAND ORDERED THE STEAK SANDWICH WITH ROSEMARY FRITES. THE STEAK WAS SO TOUGH HE COULD NOT CHEW ( HE HAS ALL HIS TEETH) AND FRITES ARRIVED 5 MINUTES AFTER LUNCH WAS SERVED.
WILL WE RETURN, PROBABLY NOT, TOO MANY OTHER OPTIONS FOR AND EXPENSIVE AND DISAPPOINTING MEAL.
ALSO, I OVERHEARD THE SERVERS REMARKING TO EACH OTHER, THE CANADIANS DO NOT WANT TO DINE WITH AMERICANS, THEY HAVE THEIR OWN SECTION. ANOTHER REASON NOT TO RETURN!
Great to have continued availability of the lobster club sandwich for lunch!
Had a very enjoyable meal at Treadwell. Food was delicious, and service was excellent.
Awesome food and fantastic service. The sommelier recommendations for our entree were perfect! We sat on patio which was perfect. A little noisy inside but cool energy 😊
I took my wife here for her 40th birthday. From start to end it was one of the best experiences we have had at a restaurant. We have eaten at some of the best reviewed, high end, pricey restaurants in Toronto and other major cities in North America. I would say this ranks with the best of them.
The service was great as our waiter was very attentive, never pushy, and always making sure we were ok.
We ordered the scallops as our appetizer. It was cooked perfectly! For our main, my wife ordered the beef striploin while I has the beef rib. Both were seasoned perfectly. The beef rib was so tender and fell off the bone.
In addition to the great food, we had the fortune to sit at the chefs bar and watch the staff at work. It was quite an experience watching a live kitchen. What made it fun to watch was the constant banter between all the chefs in the kitchen. They all had great personalities and interacted with the many guests that were sitting at chef bar.
If you are ever in NOTL, I would highly recommend coming here for dinner and sitting at the chef bar.
One of the best meals, best experiences my partner and I have had in years. The waiter was attentive, funny, and just the right amount of chatty, the sommelier was interactive, animated, charming and extremely knowledgeable (Thank you Greg and Nathan). The burrata salad, scallops and arctic char were superb, the chicken dish put all other chicken dishes to shame!
We had to reschedule our reservation twice, April was so accommodating and helped rescue a day that certainly did not go to plan.
Top to bottom, worth every second of the 3+ hours we spent there!
The food was outstanding. I would recommend sitting at the counter if you have any interest in how food is prepared. The chef and sous chefs worked together like a finely oiled machine. We live in northern Ontario so we are too far to be able to make many return trips but for anyone visiting or living nearby, treat yourself to an amazing meal.
Not everything on the website was available on the same day you visited which was a disappointment. I had the beef instead which was over cooked.
Ambience quite noisy and windows have frosting. Unfortunately this means you cannot see our, a shame especially as this is on the Main Street in the village.
A thoroughly wonderful meal and evening with a scrumptious wine pairing - a perfect way to celebrate our anniversary. The short ribs were to DIE for!
One of the best meals we have ever had. We can’t wait to go again.
