Trio Ristorante & Pizzeria Ratings and Reviews
This is a good restaurant. However --- we were seated with our friends and had heard the specials and were choosing our wine. There was an argument at the entrance between a man (who turned out to be the owner) and the staff person who had seated us. They eventually told us that we had to move, because "people who come in three times a week want this table". We were not impressed at being treated so shabbily. There was no offer of a glass of wine or a huge apology. The owner needs lessons in how to finesse such a request. We spent almost $300 on dinner and wine. they did comp one dessert and one coffee in the end. too little too late.
great neighborhood restaurant, food was excellent, good service
Have been here many times and the food is always exceptional. Portions are nice and staff are always incredibly professional. They always have a great list of "specials" to choose from.
Always reliable and delicious. Accommodating and friendly but I would so appreciate a package or two of gluten free pasta in the kitchen. So easy to keep for those who need it.
A great favourite of ours. Wonderful food and service. We are regulars.
Food and service are always great
Fabulous as always. Love this place. Whoever I have suggested it too says the same thing. Nice casual dining with excellent food.
The food was good. Service was slow.
Overpriced, poorly prepared food. Perhaps the pizza is great, but they should stick to what they know.
Our server Suzanna was outstanding. Great sense of humour. Recommended wine and knew her menu. The only complaint was the noise level. Woukd not want to be sitting in the back.
It was our second visit in a month. We enjoyed it very much both times.
Been to Trio many times. it's all about the amazing core Italian dishes. Nice quiet atmosphere when you are more in for a great meal vs action
My wife and I find it almost impossible to go anywhere else in the neighborhood because we know that we will always enjoy Trio.
On this occasion, I requested (via Open Table) tiramisu with a single candle to celebrate my wife's upcoming birthday. It was delivered to our table flawlessly. Perfectly timed. No big production. Little tears of joy. Couldn't be happier.
We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, creamy taste of the Burrata and tomato appetizer, served with more fresh basil would put it over the top. (A definite must-try!)
The calamari was not enjoyable as it tasted like the squid was frozen and had been dunked in a plain, store-bought batter and deep fried. (Avoid it.)
The salmon (special) was deliciously crusted in a breadcrumb-herb mixture and cooked to absolute perfection. It was served on a bed of quinoa and vegetables that was also very tasty and fresh.
The shrimp and pasta (special) was extremely overpriced. Unfortunately we didn't find out the price until the bill arrived. It was $39 - yikes! Perhaps that is the reason why the waitress didn't mention the price when she announced the list of chefs specials. Three jumbo (though not very flavourful) shrimp were served alongside pasta with a tomato-based sauce.
The Trio scallopini consisted of delicate veal served with a cream-based sauce flavoured with three types of mustards rosemary and cognac. (Highly recommended.)
The grouper was tasty but the serving was meager (approximately 70 grams of fish).
Tiramiso had only 1 layer of mascarpone custard, and was lacking in flavour. Perhaps more coffee or liqueur in the crust would give it a bit more punch.
Neighbourhood gem. Refreshing mix of casual and elegant. Food and service terrific. Price moderate to expensive but options are available.
I love love love this local gem! Never once have we had a meal that was anything less than delicious plus the service is always impeccable. The orecchiette pasta and the beet carpaccio are two of my fav's. The bread they serve with a mouth watering topping has my mouth salivating at the thought. Haven't been you don't know what you are missing!
The owner is also amazing at picking the best wines at a reasonable price point too!
Best dirty martini ever!!
Tons of specials
I have lived near the neighborhood for 20 years and have never tried the restaurant. What a hidden gem. The food was delicious. I will definitely be back. We shared a pasta and a shrimp dish. We will be back to try the pizza.
Always delicious. The specials are really fantastic! Our kids adore the pizza and pasta. Edwardo and his team are always welcoming and it's our favourite special dinner night spot in the neighborhood.
Best meal in Toronto!!
Will def return
Very good Italian food but in a very noisy environment where tables are tightly packed.
Barely heard our server tells us about the specials and conversation among the 4 of us was tough. Family tells her experience has been different.
Having said this, the food was tasty, wine options were great, but found the dessert options not very innovative. Had a pasta dish with huge and generous amount of shrimps which could have used a bit more flavour to punch up the tomato sauce. The mushroom/spinach salad was delish. Would go back, perhaps not on a Saturday night when it doesn't seem so hectic.
Excellent traditional Italian menu with a good selection of wines. Inexperienced and rather confused wait staff.
Excellent as usual, look forward to returning for another delightful evening.
Trio is a great place for exceptional food and service.
The staff is attentive and friendly without being pushy.
The fish special was hands down the best meal I have ever had there. Epic. Please keep it on the menu. Pleeeeeeeeease?
A lovely place to dine
What a fantastic restaurant.... food and service !!
Great food, service and very knowledgeable staff and management.
Delicious! Great service!
Our favourite restaurant. Eduardo took care of us always. Great owner, great service, great food. Try the Scallopine Trio, you won't be disappointed.
Have been to your restaurant twice and both time the food was very good, many daily specials to choose from and the service exceptional. Would recommend to my friends and I will be back.
Food was amazing. I had the caprese salad with burrata as an app, which was so light and perfect, and the orecchiette as my main. The pasta was al dente and the sausage was well cooked. The server was attentive without hovering throughout the evening. Overall, a great meal and enjoyable restaurant experience.
Food and service are consistently good!
The penne à la vodka was not my favourite. The sauce was too heavy and took over too much of the pasta.
Awesome food, very polite staff. Well done.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner here once again. Sat upstairs (quieter). Staff terrific and food good as usual.
Excellent as always. Food selection and daily specials are very good and extensive. Local for us so a neighbourhood gem.
The website indicates reasonable pricing. Nope. It is a nice neighborhood place, but is NOT that reasonably priced. Dinner for 2: only 1 app salad, 2 entrees, 1/2 litre of wine and 2 cappucinos (no dessert) = $142 including tax and tip. And you don't even get Open Table points when booking through Open Table?? It was excellent service and a lovely little place, but if I'm looking for more reasonably priced Italian...I'll look elsewhere in the 'hood.
Food was spectacular, nice wine suggestions, owner was very gracious and welcoming. Looking forward to going back!
Food-wise, it was a mixed experience on Saturday night. There were 6 of us dining. Two had the past and shrimp , one had the lamb chops and both dishes were good. The lamb shank proved disappointing since the diner (who orders this dish wherever he goes) felt it was quite bland, and a real disappointment. The diner who had the salmon trout with pasta felt the fish was dry and over cooked. The wait staff were advised about the lamb shank (after the dish was consumed). Prices are in the mid to high thirties therefore would seem to be overpriced.
