Not sure how the confirmation was allowed to be sent to us. We showed up to find the restaurant has been shut down for a while now. Please fix this so no one else has this experience

We did not enjoy our time here. First, it took a while for a host to show up and acknowledge us. Then, although the restaurant was almost completely empty, we were taken to a tight little two-person table. I asked if we could sit at a four person booth instead. All booths except one in the whole space were empty. The host said the restaurant is fully booked and the other reservations will be here soon... Fair enough - we said that's fine and sat at the small table. We were planning for shareables, so it made things uncomfortable because there wasn't room on the table for what we ordered as the appetizer (a tea, charcuterie board, and a glass of sparkling wine). Over the next hour, two of the four person booths were seated with groups of two. The remaining booths were still empty. First off, I highly doubt those groups of two had specifically reserved tables for four. Second, even after an hour, there was a large number of empty four person booths. They clearly weren't fully booked. In fact, the majority of the restaurant was still empty after an hour. We decided to leave after the appetizer and have dinner somewhere else because we felt uncomfortable in the cramped space and also felt like we were refused the tables for some underlying reason. We are both young and though we're corporate professionals, we have somewhat alternative styles. It's odd to refuse us specific seats because "we're a group of two", and then seat other groups of two, who are middle-aged and perhaps a more traditional-type patrons in the same spot. Basically, we felt singled out and like we weren't treated with respect. We went to Casa Fuego a 5 min walk away instead and LOVED IT!

Good spot for lunch - Tundra is centrally located at Richmond and University - and not packed and noisy, so good for a business lunch or a social get together. The food was well prepared and portions were quite generous.

Very quiet at lunchtime, server made excellent recommendations and was very attentive. I thought the entree was just ok but the main and dessert blew my mind. Overall: I would definitely recommend

Tundra features food with a distinctive Canadian flavour. Good service with a quick pre-Opera menu when Puccini is waiting. Lots of choice from appetizer to dessert.

Before the COC, the service was efficient and friendly and the food was good. I had delicious trout. I did not particularly enjoy the berry tart, but it was well executed

The pre-opera dinner menu is good value with some nice choices; the onion bisque is very good, the trout looked pretty darn good, but the short rib was a good choice (and flavourful) but I always want another rib...sour cherry sundae was just right

See our son. Visiting from out of town.
Chicken was tough and dry. They deducted it.
Risotto was so so. Husband’s pizza not very good. Son and girlfriend had steak frite which was good. Service slow but polite.

Very good food. The black cod was incredibly delicious. The house salad was unusually good, and the calamari perfectly done - which is rarely encountered. The service was pleasant and competent. Way beyond typical big hotel restaurant expectations. We will be back.

Great post-theatre anniversary dinner. The staff was fantastic and even gave us a complimentary dessert and champagne for our anniversary celebration. (The plate even said Happy Anniversary in chocolate!) Food was very tasty and reasonably priced for the class of restaurant.

It's like a burger from Gabby's from the 90's. The front of house wasn't professional. The restaurant is the most underwhelming spot I've been to in Toronto. Go around the corner to the drake 150, or anywhere else honestly lol.

The prix fix before the Nutcracker was ridiculously overpriced for the portion size served. There was not “dessert table” rather six petit fours for five adults. We had to ask for a second one and it was reluctantly served.
Service was disorganized but friendly. Regardless I can’t see us returning next year.

Food was satisfactory but disappointing because we ordered from the Nutcracker menu. It was a special night for our kids. The choices may be acceptable for very small children but kids over 10 have little interest in what was offered. The rest of the menu was satisfactory but not great. Again - when a restaurant is taking advantage of a special arts event, it has to offer something special. The service was slow and indifferent. We weren’t even offered coffee.

Hugely problematic service. Our Waiter went on break and terrible rest of staff refused to serve claiming she will be right back.

Asian guy working there standing in the middle doing nothing and refusing to provide service. Hostess on her phone and avoiding doing work. Other waiters hanging out in back talking and refusing to help.

We were running late and no service. Manager promised our tip would be changed back from 18% to 0% after our extreme frustration and didn’t follow through. Called next day and assured they would change but didn’t follow through. Now going through Visa to fix.

Strongly avoid. Atrocious service. And to add insult to injury no follow through.

Service was basic they did thier job, food was alright but felt that when it says mushroom medley it would require more then one mushroom. Enjoyed last years nutcracker menu way more. Value and quality wasn't there for the money spent.

The food is excellent at Tundra. We had the spiced pork chop, the roasted quail, and the miso glazed salmon. All of us enjoyed their entrees. I had the ice wine panacotta for dessert which was amazing. The best dessert I have had a while. I highly recommend the restaurant and all of us are looking forward to coming back soon.

Great service and food, the restaurant was fairly empty so it’s a good environment if you want peace and quiet, but not so much if you’re looking for a more social atmosphere.

This is the third time I have dined at Tundra after an opera.
It has been a good experience on each occasion, and especially the third time when I booked in advance.
The food is good, the ambience pleasant, and the noise level much more manageable - more modest - than in most places convenient to the Opera.
Our waiter was especially pleasant and courteous.
I am quite sure we will return when next we go to the opera.

Convenient, pretty good food, handy to the Opera House
We went to Tundra after a show at the opera, across the street. Although our reservation was for 5 people, the server apparently thought the empty seat at our table meant we were waiting for someone, so I had to flag him down 20 minutes after we were seated, to place an order. The pork chop that my son had was what I should have ordered; my lamb ragout pasta not so great. My wife wanted a salad for dinner and asked for the salad to be doubled, but it was still way too small. We have been to Tundra many times, and it is usually quite reliable; I wouldn't hold this experience against them too much. We will be back.

Our waiter was attentive, responsive, and knew the menu intimately. He provided personal, unobtrusive service and ensured that the timing of our meal respected the timeline for the opera - despite the fact that 90% of the other patrons had the same time pressure. He is the best server we have had at Tundra - a gem!

The service was unacceptable. We were having dinner before the opera. No attempt was made to meet our timeline. We waited a long time for the waiter to arrive. We asked several times for the cheque. While the waiter was casually wiping off empty tables, we had to ask another waiter for the cheque. The cheque was wrong. One of the credit car machines did not work.

My wife and I have been going to Tundra for many years now as a pre opera experience, and generally have enjoyed it.
Our last visit two weeks ago did not measure up to our normal level of satisfaction, for me personally.
I ordered the lamb ratatouille; the waiter informed me it was a pasta dish, which is fine with me.
The disappointment was with the amount of lamb apportioned to the dish. I joked with my wife that our cat gets a bigger portion in her tine of Fancy Feast.
Even more disappointing was when the host came to our table and asked how things were--I explained my disappointment and I was abruptly ignored.
Not sure now how intent we will be for Tundra to be our regular pre-opera go-to place.

As always, Tundra provides prompt service and good food prior to the opera. We ate pork chops which were delicious and perfectly cooked. The room is nice, though not desperately romantic, but the lobby was pleasantly busy with just enough music to add to the ambience rather than drown out conversations.
