Food was great. Our server Paul was fantastic. He was polite, friendly, and had great recommendations. Drinks were just right.
Our dining experience was exceptional. The food, ambiance and service was incredible! Perfect evening for a birthday celebration.
Food is great but they seat you too close together.
WOW. Everything was absolutely incredible from service to food. This is a place you should only go if you really want to live large. I highly recommend their premium Omakase.
I came here for my boyfriends birthday. It took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine and my boyfriend never got the sake her ordered. It took another 20 minutes for him to get his sushi which wasn't an issue but it took 30-40 minutes for me to get my warm food. The section we sat in was PACKED, It was four tables so close if I would've gotten up my butt would've rubbed against the next table. During the time we were waiting FOREVER for food the server would walk past us and say nothing. No apology, no checking to see how we were doing, no update on the food, he would just walk by and peek over to see we still had no food and served his other tables. I will never come back.
Really enjoyed our evening. Excellent food and service. Highly reccomend.
Good food, great service. Good sushi for Atlanta. Not extravagantly expensive.
Amazing food, ambiance, and service. Umi was absolutely amazing. The vibe was so cool! Aweesome place to enjoy the best sushi the city has to offer!
Everything was fabulous!
Food was overall good. Dover sole was excellent. Sushi was good but Oku, in my opinion is better. Service was sub par. Not sure if the server was inexperienced or just didn’t care. Two of our orders which came out on the same plate was wrong. Server said the chef read the ticket wrong??? I guess mistakes happen but paying premium prices for good but not great food ........ Ambiance was excellent, food good but expected more based on restaurant’s reputation, and service was definitely sub par. I think with a different server the overall experience would have been drastically different.
If you’re from California or New York you’ll probably hate this place. The food is so overpriced and it’s too dark and loud in the restaurant. It’s some of the best sushi I’ve had in Atlanta but that is really not saying much. I’m anxious for the Nobu to open down the street.
Umi is consistently the best restaurant and dining experience in Atlanta. And kudos to the designers, there were no shortcuts taken here.
My wife and I went to UMI for our seventh wedding anniversary and loved it! The cocktails were amazing and everything we ordered was delicious! We're already planning a return visit!
Superb food and service
This was our fourth time to UMI and it's usually excellent. However, on this occasion, it took way to long for our waitress to come by and introduce herself. Our cocktail order took approximately 20 minutes before arriving at our table. Additionally, UMI was out of the first 2 bottles of wine we ordered and it took the wine manager at least 10 minutes on each try before having our waitress return to our table for our third attempt. By the time we received our wine, our dinner was close to over.
Best Sushi in Town!!!! Fresh sashimi from Japan almost everyday....
Exceptional service and food. Value matches the price.
Service was great until the restaurant slowed down, ironically. Plus, the table next to us got a birthday dessert and they never acknowledged ours though we had let them know when we booked - and mentioned it again to the server.
It was my first time here and everything was superb!
An amazing evening. Delicious food and drinks. Great staff, very friendly and informative. People watching for sure.
The only place to have sushi.
This was our second time trying the omakase, but we tried the Itami which was a more premium cut and we were not disappointed!
Phenomenal as always !
The hype was worth it. Our first visit to Umi after months of cancelled reservations!
food was fantastic. Service was amazing. Slightly disappointed with the wait staff - kept trying to fill
Up my water glass and proceeded to spill water all over our area.
Sad the signature dessert was sold out - will make sure we order if ahead of time
As recent transplants to Atlanta, we were told by just about everyone that we needed to try out UMI to get the best sushi in the city. It did not disappoint! The food was absolutely AMAZING. Besides all of the staples you’d expect on a sushi menu, they have some really creative dishes as well. The service was also incredible. We sat in Michelle’s section (on a recommendation), and she was so knowledgeable on everything from sushi to sashimi to sake. The only downside to UMI is that it’s loud. Even if they turned down the music just a notch, I think they’d still be able to keep the lively vibe and atmosphere that certainly contributes to the overall experience. Volume aside, we will definitely be back!
Great service and the food was fantastic. Lived up to the hype!
Never disappointed. One of best sushi restaurants in Atlanta. Cool scene but great food as well. We always have outstanding service. It’s only drawback is that it is pricey. But then it would attract a different crowd if that changed. Definitely a NY/LA/London equivalent.
My lower overall rating is due to two factors: This restaurant is IMPOSSIBLE to find from the main road, and had our Lyft driver circling for 15 minutes. Also, we were given a "time limit" by which to eat and vacate, which is not the best way to make a good first impression. Fortunately, the food was outstanding -- though this place is much more suited to "cool, snooty people" and not business types trying to have an enjoyable, lively meal.
We are a frequent visitors here at Umi. The food is elegantly delicious in its own way. Iris was our server and she did a good job with food timing and service.
Incredible service both from the kitchen and the wait staff, definitely recommend the Ito-Kase and sitting at the sushi bar to get the full experience.
Great food and service. Definitely will be back again!
Every dish here is innovative and consistent. It’s hard to be so consistently good like UMI is. And it’s hard for a sushi joint to nail more than just sushi, but Umi excels at hot dishes, Rolls and really shines with Nigiri.
The food and service are excellent. The problem is that it is so loud, so cramped, and so dark! Just take that in to consideration with the company that you take (ie my husband, yes, even my hip parents, no).
Not sure what the hype was about! Will not go back
Excellence is the best description for Umi. We have our favorite dishes but tried some new sushi recommended by the chefs. Everything was amazing.
Great service and food was outstanding. Noise level is very high but still a great place for a date.
Our first visit to Umi was August 2nd for my husbands birthday. We loved it so much that we visited again September 1st for my birthday! Best restaurant in Atlanta!
Went with my foodie family and a friend from high school to celebrate my 44th Birthday. Very good sushi! Not cheap, but worth the cost.
I want the sushi from Umi to be the last thing I eat before I die. Yes, it's that good. Order the avocado salad, all the specialty Nigiri and the spicy tuna crispy rice.
And a glass of Billecart Salmon Champagne.
Greafood and service
The fish was extremely fresh. The rolls and sushi were incredible. Very possibly second only to Blue Ribbon in SOHO. I highly recommend Umi in Buckhead.
Quality fish , just a bit overpriced. Do yourself a favor and try the real wasabi with your sushi. It’s so good!
