Vero Bistro Moderne Ratings and Reviews
We were blown away by the food, our server, Jody and our comfort level at Vero! A special place for this food loving couple.
Small, but exceptional dining experience. The interior is small and trendy with an open design. This leads to a fairly noisy meal, but no louder than most.
The service was incredible, as was the food! Recommend the gnocchi appetizer and stuffed chicken main. Didn't go for dessert, but the options looked good and one option was served in a potted plant.
Definitely recommend to any foodies
It was a very pleasant atmosphere. An excellent menu and great staff. Overall couldn't get any better.
Awesome place went here for my birthday. Chef gave us complimentary food dish and dessert. Lovely experience overall.
Love this restaurant, Chef Jenny cooks amazing food. There is a different menu everyday. The food is so good there!!
While the food was excellent, we were a little disappointed not to have access to the main menu as we were quite looking forward to some fresh pasta. We seemed to be tag teamed between two servers who continuously came to the table asking the same questions as each other minutes after each other. This really took away from the overall experience! Furthermore, charging customers for "house water" is the first I have ever seen in a restaurant in North America… Lastly, putting a sparkler in a paid for dessert is not special. The credit card machine should certainly offer a 15% option with this kind of experience, again, the tips starting at 18% is a first. All in all I would come back but I certainly don't understand how this is the top restaurant in a Calgary on TripAdvisor...
Our server was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. Every dish that was ordered in our party was excellent. Very happy with this restaurant.
Went there for brunch on a Saturday before going to for a matinee show at the Jubilee. I had the eggs benny with salmon and prawns. It's pricey for an eggs benny, but when you see and taste it, you will agree that it is worth every penny. I enjoyed every bite of my meal. It's great place for a good food in the heart of Kensington. I'm looking forward to enjoying dinner there.
The decor, the service the food...all EXEMPLARY. Acoustics and noise level are not good!! HOWEVER...this is a small thing in the big scope of things!! Excellent job Vero Bistro!!
Overall experience is excellent. One of my go-to restaurant for the ambience and food. They always have a different menu from time to time therefore we can always go back and try different things.
My wife & I had lunch at Vero Bistro this week, while passing through Calgary. The menu is very interesting and the food was excellent. Highly recommended.
Vero Bistro does a wonderful job of packing flavour into food. I'd consider it one of my top restaurants. Servers have always been friendly and the atmosphere is both welcoming and cozy. I would definitely recommend this place.
A little slow getting us seated and initially served, but once they got rolling the service and food we're really good.
Fabulous food and service. We had a wonderful evening. One of our guests said it was the best meal they'd ever had in a restaurant.
We had a very enjoyable evening. The food was well prepared and the service was outstanding.
Very good service and food. We had the seafood platter and it was amazing. It's a lot of food for just two people, so come hungry.
All the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious. Would come back again when I visit Calgary again.
The lunch menu was great and we were taken care of from the start. Super easy booking on open table and the music was just the right volume. The music is always the same - which are my favourites so I don't mind. Jazz classic standards - Sinatra fly me to the moon, Coltrane solos, etc. I really enjoyed the salad over the calamari but the seafood Pangaea was totally worth it; just didn't love the sausage. Topped off with some great dessert - icecream and chocolate cake yum.
Paid a pretty penny for a good meal and great service and ambience. Thanks so much!
Outstanding on all levels... as always.
Don't take the table next to the curtain that separates maitre d' station. Service is a little slow--hate waiting for the cheque, while coffee, wine and water glassses are all empty.
As usual, Vero was great food, great service & nice ambience.
There were too many great selections on the menu which means we need to go back soon to try all of Jenny's creations!
I feel like the service could improve a bit. They forgot our coffees, and since I don't like prawns, I asked for no jumbo prawn on my salmon benedict. When the server asked me if I wanted 2 eggs I wasn't sure if that was the usual or if it was to replace the prawn - this ended up on the bill as an extra charge. It wasn't a big deal, but it would've been good to know that it would be an extra item/charge. We were really excited about finally checking this place out, but the service was a little lacklustre. The food was phenomenal.
Super meal. Very creative and well executed Jodi was a super server
Vero is one of my Calgary favorites to have any meal at. I haven't had a single I wouldn't recommend or go back and have again, in fact, its hard to try something new because you LOVE what you had last time.
I've been a few times now and Vero never disappoints! Warm, capable staff and beautifully crafted meals in a comfortable (and laid-back lux) atmosphere. Now an absolute favorite.
Excellent food and excellent service. Creative, interesting and well thought out menu. Nothing but good things to say except it was a bit noisy from a large group that was there.
Very nice food and noise level super low. Will come bqck for chef Jenny!!!
The food at Vero is so good and the service was great, thanks Jody. Definitely worth a return visit.
We came in after Phantom of the Opera for our anniversary dinner and weren't disappointed! A nice intimate setting, the waiter was very friendly and upon learning of our anniversary gave us two glasses of champagne on the house. We ordered the surf and turf special and every item on the platter was top notch; the steak, lobster, prawns and especially the halibut cheek were cooked perfectly and everything went well together. Very memorable!
We were both very impressed with the food and the service. Was our first time there and will certainly return.
Came here for dinner to celebrate my husband's birthday after seeing it's rated #1 for Calgary restaurants on TripAdvisor.
The seating area was cozy and nicely decorated. Overall, the restaurant is a bit pricey but definitely delicious and they have great presentation. We shared a bottle of Tempranillo and had the sweet potato gnocchi to start. My husband had the steak frites and I had the salmon special. The steak frites was fantastic and the salmon was cooked just right. We had the dark chocolate cake with caramel gelato for dessert, also a special, and it was absolutely delicious. Thanks for the exquisite food, Jenny!
We also had great service. Michael was an awesome server and very attentive. We will definitely be back.
The food, the service and the location made Sunday Brunch so wonderful, that we came back for dinner the same day. Highly recommend! A great place to spend time with family and friends. And if needed, one can easily impress the in-laws in this cozy place.
Delicious food. Extremely friendly staff. I highly recommend brunching here. The french toast is heavenly!
Awesome restaurant - best in Calgary by far! Great food cooked to perfection, fantastic wine list and staff to match. Thank you for making our evening special once again!
good but pricey food with excellent service. Small dark inside with some outside seating. music was very loud but my bad for not asking fro lower volume. I will definitely go back.
Wonder place! Highly recommended, certainly will come back.
This was the third time the company I work for had a business dinner at Vero Bistro Moderne and each time everything has been fabulous!
This was my first time to attend and I can honestly say there was nothing I would change. The food, service and ambiance was delightful.
We will all be back again, definitely.
The "No Menu Tuesday" for the three course dinner was great: lobster bisque with a toast slice topped with a flavourful tomato/peach topping, beef strips piled on mixed vegetable base, and a tasty cream puff with real passion-fruit sauce. Locally sourced sour cherries appeared in special drinks and with the dessert. A truly wonderful dining adventure!
Served by James and his fellow workers we got to know them better and will be returning guests.
(Responding to the "noise level" section above, we were on the patio. Although the after-work rush was on, we were surprised that there was little interference with conversation ---- we usually avoid a patio along a busy street, but found that it was no problem and would recommend that this area is great on a summer evening.)
Perfect. Every bite of food was delicious. We had the bolognese and scallops, burrata appetizer and profiteroles dessert which were both on special that evening. Chef and service were warm, generous and on point.
