Beautiful romantic atmosphere.. good foods, great service.. a must try
Had a really great experience. The food was delicious and the service was incredible. Highly recommend. Thank you for a great experience.
We had a remarkable evening at Victor; my checked list will indicate the relevant categories.
Food was incredible which is what made the experience and made up for the stutter steps in service. The manager is out of place and not the right fit for an upscale hotel restaurant. As an example all of the staff are well dressed in hotel / restaurant uniforms, yet the manager was dressed appropriate for managing a bowling alley or bingo hall. Our server made a simple mistake on our order which, in the grand scheme of things, wasn't that big of a deal. He apologized and then took steps to make it right. The manager then came to our table to also apologize but then made some inappropriate, unnecessary, and awkward jokes about firing the server. Then in a grand gesture at then end of our meal she had the staff deliver dessert and had the bartender pour us two glasses of champagne. The gesture was very much appreciated and understood as complimentary. The staff was doing their best to make us feel good about the overall experience and we did until the manager made some awkward comments about her staff screwing up and insisted the drinks were free - yep we gathered that when the bartender said "please enjoy some complimentary champagne". Subtlety and class, not her strong point. Once the pomp and circumstance was finished and we were left to enjoy the dessert and champagne we realized they had forgotten to bring cutlery but by that point the staff had all retreated to the back room. We looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh, "so close... they almost had it." Anyway, we still had a good time, the ambiance is great, food was delicious and well plated. But for the price and the location of being in the Le Germain hotel the service didn't live up to expectations. Now having met the manager I think we know why.
We always enjoy Victor Cafe. The service is impeccable. The food was delicious, except the lentils were weirdly undercooked and the kale was plain. The scallops were lucious, the bread soft, fluffy, and aromatic, the Seoul fries a melange of textures and flavours.
Really great dinner! Hidden gem!
We had Christmas dinner at Victor it was amazing alot of food !! my favorite was the stuffing !!
Our party of four went there for Christmas dinner. The food was delicious and the drinks were great.
Best waitress ever
1st time in Toronto and tried this place due to availability of a table for 5 on a Friday night and my lack of planning. Only 2 other tables were taken at 6.30 on a Friday, so I suspected I’d chosen a dud. Absolutely the opposite. Food, service and ambiance was excellent (though obviously if you like quieter). Don’t understand why this place was not booked solid, except for maybe the side street location. If you are looking for an intimate location with top notch food and service, look no further
We had a lovely experience. My sister and I treated my mum to a pre-theatre dinner at Victor. Yummy cocktails, fantastic food, and outstanding service. We all had the lamb shank with polenta - large serving and perfectly done! Shared a pecan square for dessert - perfect sweet finish to the meal. Not too busy or noisy. Walking distance to theatre. Highly recommend!
Service was impeccable! Seriously so much thought and care delivered...from excusing themselves for over reaching to get to dirty plates to giving us background on the decor! Hand written thank you on the bill 😀Food was tasty, warm olives, scallops, pecan dessert....yummy!!
Enjoyed the exoerience
Good food. Great service!
A great spot with appealing ambiance. The portions were generous but not over blown and the quality of the food was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Very, very good atmosphere managed well by lovely servers. Perfect before the theatre or Second City! Will return.... hoping to find the $1 per shuck oysters I’ve heard so much about!
Service was very attentive. Corner table very comfortable and great for conversation. Charcuterie board was delicious and great for sharing. Burger tasty. Lamb shank flavourable, but the sides were too watery and thin in consistency. Overall a very nice restaurant with personable staff.
Victor was very quiet, no nice music for the ambiance. I had looked up the menu and saw there were a couple steak options and when we got there, there was only one expensive option. I ordered the pasta with short rib which barely had any short rib in it. There were multiple burnt out lights on the ceiling... overall would not recommend compared to all the other more upscale restaurants there are in TO. Too bad because it could have potential! Service was good though.
Victor is an absolute hidden gem in the entertainment district. The ambiance is upscale and refined. The service is phenomenal as the staff are so friendly and attentive. The restaurant is tucked away on Mercer just south of King St West and is the perfect spot if you’re looking to have a quiet dinner in the middle of downtown. Highly recommend for a last minute booking on a Friday as it’s often easy to get a table without much notice. Thank you for a wonderful, easy dinner!
Great service, meal and cocktails! Thank you Victor restaurant
If you go- ask for the bread pudding for dessert it is not on the menu but one of the reasons I keep going back. Service is also great :)
My fiancé and I were in town for a couple days and had dinner here before seeing a comedy show at second city. The food was delightful and I loved the ambiance. Definitely would recommend this for a nice dinner/special occasion! Great spot! Also, the Victor gin and tonic was pure deliciousness! Thanks again! Great staff as well
We were staying at the hotel and ate here because it was convenient. So glad we did. We ate outside because it was a beautiful August evening. Even though it was a little inconvenient having us outside the service was excellent and the food great.
Very good food and presentation. Excellent burger big and amazing cooked the way u want it fresh ground meat. Quality
Service was excellent.
This was a birthday dinner just wished they would have put a candle on dessert.
Service and food quality was good. Limited menu and wine list.
Wonderful experience, quiet environment, delicious food and great services .
The most delicious burger I've ever eaten, hand down. It was very pretty inside, but super quiet and empty (730 on a Friday night) Our server was great, food was delicious.. just wish it had been a little livelier!
Great atmosphere, service:) our service Moe was amazing
Everything was lovely! The server made us feel right at home and her recommendations were excellent!
Excellent meal, fabulous service bravo!
We often come to Before a show, not only because it is close but because the food is so good. Our server Laura was really friendly had great wine advice and made sure that the timing of the meal had us out in plenty of time for the show! Also, best burger in town!
Le service était bien, mais nous étions seuls dans le resto. Pas de « rush » à gérer.
Casear was a real gentleman made us feel right at home.
Extremely knowledgeable and welcoming
It's a very lovely restaurant. The staff were so very attentive. Food was simple, fresh and delicious.
We moved into the library bar after. Although it looks cool the seating was very uncomfortable. They need cushions!
I also found the bar to be seriously overpriced.$25 for a vodka martini is just crazy.
We brought our kids (7, 4 & 7mos) with us to have a lovely dinner at Victor Restaurant. The meal was excellent, they accommodate our dietary restrictions (Halal) and the service was a great and friendly. Definitely will be back for more.
Second time there. Staff was excellent-no complaints in that department. And I like the ambience. But...this time had the hanger - steak frites. The meat was done perfectly but come on guys do something about the presentation and take it easy on the herb butter!
Last time I had the fish and friends had the burger and the masala. No complaints.
Just my two cents.
Excellent food, flavours, and presentation. Service was slow and it wasn't busy, but server was friendly.
My husband was staying at the hotel, already enjoying the convenience and quality of the meals. He decided to have a business associate join him for dinner. I requested and was given a corner table by a window, which we were very pleased about. Everything about the meal went well, and we will definitely consider planning in this way again.
Jeff, our server, was very pleasant and professional. Unfortunately my companion had to return their entree as it was cold - but was replaced with a plate of steaming pasta in short order. Luckily we had time to wait.
Personally I was surprised and disappointed at the amount of mayo on my ceviche!
Although dessert was excellent I felt the serving was a bit small - not really appropriate for sharing.
I tried for the first time Victor restaurant to celebrate a special Birthday with my husband and friends. From the minute we came in the hotel we were welcomed with a friendly doorman, then the server at the restaurant - the great experience continued the entire evening. From the decor to the service, ambience, food, value- everything was above my expectations. I would and I will make Victor my new destination and definitely put on top of my recommended restaurant list. Thank you for the great evening.
