victor restaurant was by far one of the best restaurants ive had yet in toronto, the food is outstanding and so is the service. the servers were very kind and made sure to attend to anything you need if that wasnt enough the presentation to the food and taste was beyond amazing, id recommend this restaurant to anyone especially on a date night or night with friends looking for a far better experience than casual dining.
The food was better than advertised and the staff was exceptional
Food was severely under cooked and in edible. Service was slow and awful (we were literally the only table in the restaraunt). And there was no gesture even made to try and correct things until after the bill was paid ... No, we don't want another raw burger ... To many good restaraunts in the area to ever go back here
Everything was top notch.
A great dining experience.
I’ll be back!
My girlfriends and I were attending an event at Roy Thomson Hall and I selected Victor because of its proximity to the theatre and the good reviews on the food that I had read. Our server was extremely friendly, professional and eager to please. The restaurant is small, off the lobby and quite nicely decorated. I shared the crab cake appetizer which was recommended and it was one good sized cake. Nice presentation and a lovely sauce but the flavour was fine but not outstanding. My main was the scallops that were a generous portion, absolutely cooked perfectly and served on a delicious bed of lentils. Our only complaint was that it took forever to receive our main and we were getting concerned about our timing (although we did not tell the server we were going to the theatre). There was only one other table in the entire restaurant so it was not that the kitchen was being slammed. At one point I went in search of our server to find out where our mains were. He offered a complimentary dessert but we declined and told him at that time that we were going to the theatre. He offered dessert again as we were paying the bill which we though was odd since it was obvious that we did not have the time to stay. The delay was not a reason to not go back as the food was very good but it did reflect negatively on our experience there
The reviews for this restaurant were all great and now I know why. Everything was really exceptional. The food and service were fantastic. The ambience was pleasant and relaxing. This is an unknown gem of a place. I highly recommend.
A night out with family. The experience at Cictor was wonderful - we’ll be back!
Cool vibe, nice interior. Small dining room, good service. Food was good and they had a good selection of cocktails. Happy hour every week night and half price bottles of wine Friday night.
My only negative comment would be the beef short rib portion was more like an appetizer than a main course.
We really like the people who work at Victor. They are friendly and competent. The food is good, if not exceptional, and the menu isn't overwhelmingly huge, though there's a pretty amazing choice of cocktails.
We arranged an early dinner reservation, following a matinee performance at the theatre. The on-line booking process was easy (although to modify the # of guests required a phone call).
When we initially arrived at Victor it was still daylight; I was surprised that the restaurant looked like a cafeteria setting (a little disappointing at first). No one in our group had ever been to this restaurant before. But as the light dimmed the ambiance changed for the better.
The decor contrast of contemporary structure & antique kitsch around the perimeter of the rooms made it feel fresh, comfy & fun.
The background music was enjoyable.
Surprisingly, as the dining room filled in & became busy, conversation background noise was never a problem.
Our server, Yanara, was outstanding!
Each of our meals was delicious and served hot & at the same time. Great kitchen co-ordination!
The purpose of the event was to celebrate our Mom’s 85th birthday; it was her first birthday since our Dad passed away last month. The day was delightfully memorable for all of us (despite the horrible weather conditions), in part due to our excellent experience at Victor!
Food was very good. Ambience very average .
We had a lovely dinner on a Monday night before the theatre. The service was great and food very tasty! The bread with olive oil was outstanding. The decor is also outstanding.
Quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Great food and good value. Enjoyable date night out. Right across the street from Second City.
I thought the environment was very good. The was really good and the staff was friendly. I would go back there again.
The setting was fantastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was amazing! Loved the location for the theatre as well!
Really delicious food and friendly service
Pre Second City Dinner.
Located in the Germain Hotel.
Food was excellent, but pricey given the decor and wait staff attire.
Service was very good until the bar area got crowded with hotel guests. This made it hard to get the bill since we were one of two tables in the restaurant and the other couple left.
Excellent service, great food, lovely ambiance - what more can you ask for?
Amazing food and service!
We had a great time here for New Years Eve. The restaurant was pretty much empty, but we were there quite early.
Food was great, service was lovely. Will definitely return.
Had a great Xmas dinner here! Family style! Portions were big and all the food was amazing. Thanks again to Susi, our server, she was great!
We spend Christmas Day in Toronto every year to have dinner with my daughter. We stay in a hotel and there are very few places to have a great Christmas dinner. We have eaten in several hotel restaurants on Christmas and meals have been good but Victor was excellent! The meal was delicious, the turkey was not over cooked. The staff was great. The price of the meal was very good value. Overall the price with wine was ver reasonable
Staff gave up their Christmas Day to serve our family and we're very accommodating and happy! Thank you.
My husband and I dined at Victor for the first time on Christmas Eve. I understand that holidays are more hectic for restaurants which explains longer waits and slower service. However, it appeared Victor was well understaffed with perhaps only 2 visible waiters for the entire restaurant. Since the restaurant was booked with reservations, they should be able to better manage staffing requirements. Consequently, our drinks we ordered (one cocktail and one glass of wine) took nearly ten minutes to arrive and by then we were enjoying our appetizer. The service remained slow for the rest of the night, so I do not suggest attending if you don't have a lot of time.
As for food, the pierogi appetizer was delicious: perhaps better than my Polish grandmother's homemade ones. The meals were good but nothing spectacular; if you are coming to Victor for the one of a kind meal, you may not get it here. We finished with chocolate cake which was very good.
The ambiance was romantic: French flare with low lights. You are somewhat close to surrounding tables, so you may overhear conversations but overall the noise level was not terrible.
I would recommend this restaurant but you may be disappointed in the bang for your buck and do anticipate a slower, but kind, service.
I made the reservation to be close to Glen Gould Studio as we were taking guest to Sinfonia Toronto. The meal was wonderful staff could not have been more attentive. The bread was housemade hot and delicious we had a 2nd helping 3 started with the mushroom soup of the day and the other had lobster bisque they all came together hot flavorful all satisfied. I had steak tartar for dinner and raved about it best she ever had. I had the scallops with carrot puree and sweet potato crisps everything cooked to perfection and the trout was amazing too. They have great wine by the glass. They know how to serve hot tea in the tea pot and have decaf cappuccino. We shared an amazing lemon tarte so flavorful. We were able to talk and socialize they had the music at a nice level so we could talk. If you are looking for a wonderful restaurant that provides a good ambiance fantastic food and service I would highly recommend you will not be disappointed this was my 2nd time at the Victor. They got us out in time so we did not need to rush to the concert too.
My friends, husband and I were looking to try out a new restaurant with good ambiance and food. We were totally thrilled with this restaurant, great service, food and drinks that was delicious and very healthy and awesome ambiance. We even saw/met stars from the television series Expansion. Yes star struck with the whole experience! 😉 We would totally go back and highly recommend it!
Great food! We had the lamb shank and pasta with brisket. Both were delicious. Huge plates made the portions look small but we left feeling full. We let the waitress know we had a show to attend and she had us out the door in an hour!
Both the server and sommelier were personable and genuine in their suggestions. This only added to a delicious meal with a very tasty bottle of wine.
The menu selection was terrific and the food was delicious. We were in and out with plenty of time to go to the theatre.
Very nice atmosphere with great service, very knowledgeable staff.
Quiet little gem in the Theatre District ...
Food was amazing and service was exceptional.
Absolutely love this place. Staff is amazing and attentive. Food is delicious. It is by far on of the best hidden gems in Toronto.
Have dined at Victor's on and off since it opened - love the size and ambiance of the restaurant - feels very European to me. Have tried many items on the menu....all of them very good! Love the new reno!
Very much enjoyed my dinner here. Started with a cocktail in the bar... I had the Rosemary Made me Do It (Ha! Great name) and my friend had the Carpano Manhattan. Both delish. Moved to the dining room for dinner and I really like the reno. Our server was pretty funny and friendly, I think his name was Cesar. Attentive but no over bearing. Started with the seafood tower. The crab claws were hard to get into, I wish they were shelled... bu the scallop ceviche was sooooo good. They also make their own strawberry sriracha which was tasty. My friend had the burger which he said was really juicy. I had a bunch of sides and the Charcuterie... I can't get enough. So that with the Mac n Cheese, Broccoli and kale... I was so full. Didn't have dessert, but ended with a espresso.
Oh yeah... tried a few different wines that they had by the glass - good range of selection. Had the Spanish sparkling with the seafood tower, then a glass of the Rose and finished with the Kew Soldiers Grant. A bit harsh initially, but the wine opened up and a few sips in was so smooth. Love that they're repping Ontario wine!
Chic urban experience. Open air concept.
Creative fusion dishes.
Our first time at the Victor. We were celebrating an anniversary and looking for low carb meal options. We found the menu worked very well for us and provided very good value. It was a little more in the open, actually next to the hotel lobby, than we thought. But the location is excellent, the service friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. It was very quiet which allowed for easy conversation.
Beautiful restaurant, but the bar was kinda crowded. Good food and friendly waiters. I had the scallops, very good. Wine was a bit warm, but overall great experience. I would definitely come back.
While the food was good, the service was terrible. The waitress was unprofessional and likely untrained. She failed to replenish cutlery, forgot orders, and made flippant remarks.
My wife and I had a late dinner here yesterday evening, and it was perfect! The food was delicious and the service was amazing and friendly. We started off with cocktails, I had the cheekily named "Orange Dictator"and my wife had the Le Germain( am homage to the hotel in which Victor resides). Both were delicious and balanced with the right amount of booziness.
We shared an appetizer of lobster sliders, which were delicate but decadent with just the right amount of lemon to freshen them up. For mains, I had a perfectly cooked NY Steak with crispy, well seasoned fries and my wife had the Rainbow Trout with Sweet Potato and greens. Both were amazing! And to top it all off, the Baked Alaska for dessert was a show stopper! We will definitely return, especially since we were told the chef was changing the menu next week to expand the offerings!
