Tucked away on Toronto’s Mercer Street, Victor Restaurant serves a chef-driven menu featuring modern takes on classic dishes, delicious cocktails, and a refined wine and beer list. With its chic yet approachable atmosphere, Victor is the perfect destination for a pre-theatre dinner, family dinner or a romantic nightcap.
The service was incredible and the food was beyond delicious. I had the burger and it was by far the best in Toronto. They were able to accommodate a large party last minute, which was amazing. The ambience is very cozy and the decor is beautiful. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want to go to dinner where you can hear the conversation at your table and eat scrumptious food!
Hi Marita, Thank you so much for the lovely words. I always think our burger is one of the best in the city, but i am (a little) biased. We look forward to having you again! All the Best, Kasia
Went for an early dinner after theatre matinee. Awesome service and food. Beautiful room.
We dined at 5:30 pm on a Friday prior to theatre. The restaurant was not busy which meant noise levels were low and service attentive. 1/2 price bottles of wine on Fridays is a very nice perk. We really enjoyed the food. We split a grilled shrimp with crab cake app. Our entrees were blackened rainbow trout and wild boar tenderloin. Both were very good. Desserts are not made on site but they were tasty. The restaurant is quite close to the theatres on King St, but being on a side street and in a hotel lobby (St Germain Mercer St) , it is a relaxing locale away from the bustle of King St. The decor of the restaurant was thoughtful and I really enjoyed having an easy conversation without the high noise levels present in a lot of restaurants.
Great cocktails and delicious food. I love the vibe of this place.
Incredibly good service and the food was delicious. It was like eating in France - fresh and few ingredients, allowing for wonderful flavours. I’ve if the few restaurants out that that doesn’t ruin the taste with unnecessary garlic.
Fantastic venue, great food and brilliant service
Loved it. We have been several times before and we are always pleased. The wine pairings were particuilarly delicious this time. Try the Oregan Syrah! Soft, smooth, yet full-bodied.
Food was excellent and not over priced. Very impressive!
We had all just arrived in Toronto and were tired. We didn't want to eat a lot, so we asked to share various dishes. the dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was very accommodating and kind. We stayed at Le Germain as well, so we had the breakfast buffet as well both days. All lovely. Thanks.
I always come to Victor when I am craving a burger - I think it is the best in the city! We had the most amazing experience when my friend and I came for dinner the other night. Bella was our waitress and she was beyond lovely. Her positivity made our entire experience that much better!
Server was outstanding!!!
Thanks so much for joining us. I will be sure to pass along your kind words to your server!
The four of us had another superb dinner at Victor. Everything about the experience was perfect: cuisine, presentation, wine choices, ambiance, and absolutely wonderful service. Two of us ordered the Wild Boar special and absolutely loved it. Highly recommended!
Food was really good and portions size too. The decor was lovely. However the ambiance was lacking a little bit. It was too quiet and you could hear everyone’s conversations.
Culinary skill was evident in our plates!
Service was attentive!
Portions were small.
Prices were high.
Thus, a four star rating!
One of the best kept secrets in the city for dining and private events!
Other than the fact the room was cold (had to keep my jacket on) and the lobby noise was distracting (TIFF event), we enjoyed our dinner consisting of the duck breast and the perch almandine. Both dishes were nicely presented, flavourful and perfectly prepared. Enjoyed the chocolate dessert by Nadege.
Service was attentive and helpful. The room decor is very nice and, were it not for the fact that it was fully open to the lobby, would have felt intimate. Perhaps a seat further away from the entrance would have been more comfortable.
Victor is a beautifully decorated and completely quiet restaurant which is such a departure from many Toronto restaurants which are usually so busy and crazy. The staff is so friendly, make you yummy cocktails and shepherd you through this food experience that makes you feel warm and fuzzy after you leave. This is a hidden gem in Toronto so please don’t tell anyone
Food and service was amazing. Only one other table which was unfortunate because it was a beautiful spot for a date night. Wasn’t busy because there isn’t really and foot traffic down that side street. Would highly recommend for a date or business/cooperate meeting.
Thank you so much for the kind words. We are certainly in our slow period during August; so its a great time to take advantage of a hidden gem! We look forward to having you come back soon.
We had a delicious dinner at Victor, before heading to the Second City improv show (which is right across the street).
The duck breast was cooked to perfection (so tender and flavorful), and the perch almondine was also really tasty.
Our server was friendly and attentive and the menu had many wonderful selections to choose from.
Thank you so much for joining us for dinner; hope you had a riot at Second City!
Great food in a sleek, and quiet setting. Great place for a refined night out with your loved one.
We came to Victor before seeing Second City and boy are we glad we did!! The restaurant was practically empty so we had exceptional service and the food was fantastic!! Four different entrees and all were superb!
What a lovely restaurant! Our waitress was fabulous! Her recommendation for dinner was perfect including the wine she suggested! Best meal we had in Toronto!
Always enjoy dining here when we come in town. Food is always good and great/friendly service.
I especially appreciate the manager who helps us learn more about Canadian wine each time we come.
She always recommends a great bottle for us to experience and much appreciated!
I liked it...it has a nice wine list, and the food is superb, we had the greatest service, the waitress would actually played along with our nonsense of using a french handkerchief - my date and I were having a french-inspired night
Everything was very tasty and atmosphere is stunning with very attentive service. Well done
Excellent staff, good food and interesting menu. Book a table for after the theatres start and it will be a lovely experience
A very nice dinner before the theatre. Great food, pleasant ambiance, good service and short walk to King St theatres.
This was one of the the best dining experiences my husband and I have had this year! Delicious good, fantastic cocktails, lovely atmosphere and great service!
Hi Camille, Thank you so much for your review; I'm so happy to hear that you had a lovely time! I'll be sure to pass on your kind words to the team. We look forward to having you dine with us again. All the best, Kasia Food & Beverage Manager
Was a great dining experience. Food was wonderful, service great.
We decided on Victor for our dinner before the theater on a Saturday night. We were not disappointed! The decor and ambiance are gorgeous: a little retro, vintage but modern. The menu is small but there is something for everyone. The food was delicious and the service was so amazing. And as we like to meet for dinner with friends to have actual conversations, it was even more perfect: so quiet! No blaring music, and good acoustic controls to keep voice and dish noise to a whisper. My only wish is that they had more gluten free options for celaics like myself. All in all, a 5 star experience!
Our evening at Victor was once again a delight; the only disappointment was the lemon tart. The crust was very hard, and the lemon curd was dry. Otherwise, excellent.
Hi Shiba, Thanks so much for the review and I'm sorry to hear about the lemon tart. We will definitely check with the team to see what happened and ensure your next lemon tart is zesty and moist. In case you didn't, always feel free to let your server know, as they'll be sure to fix it right away. All the best, Kasia
We had an excellent meal before heading to the theatre. Service was perfect. Our experience exceeded our expectations and we will definitely return when we are back in town.
We’ve come here three times - each time because we were attending something close by not because it was our destination dinner. But it’s a really lovely hidden gem. The space is beautiful, servers attentive and friendly. They don’t come and fold your napkin when you leave the table and did deliver the food while one of us was away from the table but those are minor items and the food service itself is really good. Excellent imaginative cocktails, half price wine on Fridays! Food has always been excellent with a small menu that doesn’t overwhelm you with choices but enough diversity there’s something for everyone. Off menu bread pudding for dessert was awesome! We will be back. The only suggestion I’d make is the room can feel *cool* due to those big windows and just dimming the lights makes a big difference - so staff should stay attentive to that.
Hi Dinnerdinner, Thanks so much for your review and your sincere feedback. It's genuinely appreciated and your suggestions are right on the nose and easy to implement. We look forward to having you back with us soon. All the best, Kasia Food & Beverage Manager
Thank you Victor for a wonderful evening! our table ordered a variety from the menu, including top notch cocktails and wine offerings.
I personally enjoyed the Big Vic (burger), but heard great feedback about the Veggie Casserole, Lamb Shanks, and the Fish option.
Laura, our server, was super friendly, attentive and professional in understanding our needs at the table.
I would certainly recommend to any couples looking for a date night or to invite a group of friends out to celebrate a Friday night (bonus: half price bottles of wine on Fridays!).
Beautiful menu, attentive servers, great atmosphere. Loved the entire evening.
First time visiting this place. The decor is awesome. It's a very cool and classy place, with a great menu and a really good vibe. The service was outstanding, and they made a special evening feel that way. Highly highly recommend.
Beautiful romantic atmosphere.. good foods, great service.. a must try
Had a really great experience. The food was delicious and the service was incredible. Highly recommend. Thank you for a great experience.
We had a remarkable evening at Victor; my checked list will indicate the relevant categories.
Food was incredible which is what made the experience and made up for the stutter steps in service. The manager is out of place and not the right fit for an upscale hotel restaurant. As an example all of the staff are well dressed in hotel / restaurant uniforms, yet the manager was dressed appropriate for managing a bowling alley or bingo hall. Our server made a simple mistake on our order which, in the grand scheme of things, wasn't that big of a deal. He apologized and then took steps to make it right. The manager then came to our table to also apologize but then made some inappropriate, unnecessary, and awkward jokes about firing the server. Then in a grand gesture at then end of our meal she had the staff deliver dessert and had the bartender pour us two glasses of champagne. The gesture was very much appreciated and understood as complimentary. The staff was doing their best to make us feel good about the overall experience and we did until the manager made some awkward comments about her staff screwing up and insisted the drinks were free - yep we gathered that when the bartender said "please enjoy some complimentary champagne". Subtlety and class, not her strong point. Once the pomp and circumstance was finished and we were left to enjoy the dessert and champagne we realized they had forgotten to bring cutlery but by that point the staff had all retreated to the back room. We looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh, "so close... they almost had it." Anyway, we still had a good time, the ambiance is great, food was delicious and well plated. But for the price and the location of being in the Le Germain hotel the service didn't live up to expectations. Now having met the manager I think we know why.
Thank you for your review and I appreciate your feedback. I was the manager on duty that evening. You seemed very upset (rightfully for the mistake) and I tried to lighten the mood with a silly joke. I knew immediately that the joke fell flat and tried to move on. I will take your feedback on both my interaction with you, and my dress to heart. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the meal, and that you appreciated the teams efforts. I'm sorry that my efforts fell short. Kind Regards, Kasia
