Excellent services and food, a great place for date night.
The whole table enjoyed trying the many tasty shared plates. The wine was probably too too good! Great selection and service.
Great service and food!! Relaxed atmosphere and our server took care of us by suggesting wine, food, etc.
Great service and food. The wine selection is fantastic
When Phoebe, the owner, is around she always takes the time to visit and make sure everything is going well. We love those lucky evenings when she's there.
The waitress was fantastic, very attentive and quick to help , in addition the fur-baby take home care was such a great touch , really made the evening a success
Had a really nice relaxing time with friends at an early seating on the bar side. We had a larger charcuterie plate (valentine's special) which had a delicious variety of quality cheeses and meats to compliment our wine by the glass. What I appreciate here is the cozy space and attentive service of course, but high quality wine by the glass is an exceptional experience, and perfectly suited us as we all like different wine profiles, plus we tried a few that we wouldn't necessarily buy by the bottle. I'd highly recommend this place for a flavourful and quality experience at a decent price.
We had an amazing time on our date night at Vin Room! The food was outstanding, wine was delicious, and the service was incredible! The ambiance was so romantic and I can't recommend Vin Room enough! Thank-you for such a wonderful experience, we will most certainly be back!
Good food. Good service. “Every breath you take” was repeated every 3-4 songs.
Sitting at the window provided entertainment by everything on the street
The Vin Room is always a special treat. We love the ambiance and the food. The value for money is sometimes questionable but we enjoyed our visit nonetheless.
We have been to the Vin Room a few times. I. The past the food used to be unique and delicious. Serving sizes are very small now and except for 1 of our 5 starters none of our choices had amazing flavour. We weren’t informed of the price for our special flight of wine tasting. We were a table of 4 and had a wine tasting flight, a low-moderate priced bottle of wine and the 5 starters (1 - 1 1/2 meatball each for the meatball dishes). For this we paid $290 including $40 gratuity. We enjoy high end restaurants and could have each had an appetizer, main course, dessert and wine for the same money at other restaurants. We went home feeling ripped off, gratefully a feeling we haven’t had in a long time. We like to support restaurants and have been fortunate to give 5 star ratings to those we’ve tried
Also we booked 2 weeks ahead for a night that was “jeans and jazz” but were seated upstairs. The jazz is on the lower level, so we missed out on that.
On the bright side the servers were nice!
Great place for a quiet romantic dinner! We will return!
Great location, lovely ambience, sincere service and fabulous wine selection, in fact brilliant wine selection. The food however, was horrendously bland. The chicken meatballs were tasteless, the lamb meatballs were spongy and also just completely tasteless, the calamari and the brussel sprouts were actually okay, but the charcuterie plate could have been bought from your local super market. This place has such potential, however the food is seriously bad, go for the wine, but don't bother eating there.
Was a nice evening! Charcuterie/cheese board was amazing! We ordered the steak and did ask for them to cook it to more of a medium vs the medium rare the server stated it came. When it arrived it was more rare to medium rare, bit disappointing. He said they could throw it back on the grill, but it came sliced already which probably would have been a bit messy so we just ate around the extremely rare parts. But all in all everything else was great.
Vin Room never disappoints. It was quiet, lovely fireplace, live music, great wine, service and eggplant chips! Some of the menu items arent as good as they used to be but still good.
Definitely going back!
Great evening! Fabulous server. Delish food and wines.
One of my favourite spots in Calgary for both business and casual get togethers. The staff is terrific, they are knowledgeable about their wines and food choices. Always a pleasant experience. The Vin Room Mission has a great vibe. Highly recommend this venue !
Great food and knowledgeable staff to pair wine. Enjoyed our evening.
Great food and wine, discreet yet attentive service, delightful live jazz guitarist, ambient volume level perfect: lively but not too loud at all.
I took the 3 course meals and was desappointed by the appetizer that had no flavor (the brie).
The main course was better, with the meat but again, the potatoes were ok.
The desert was ok too, not much flavor. It was missing veggies or fruit.
Next time, I will order a la carte, some tapas.
Service was very good and ambiance very nice.
Vin Room in Mission was a great experience! We were able to choose where we wanted to sit (out of the few open tables) and the staff made fabulous Wine and food suggestions. We would go back in a heartbeat!
This was our first time to Vin Room Mission. The service was very friendly and attentive. The music was just the right volume. We went for happy hour, to have a few drinks and appetizers. Although the flavor was fine on most of the 4 or 5 dishes we ordered, there was not enough food to enjoy. I find it hard to believe that they couldn't add more food to each of the appetizers. The spaghetti was tasty but hardly 2 fork fulls. A handful more noodles would have cost another 20 cents. The homous tasty but not enough pita, and I was charged another $2 for a couple more pieces. The charcuterrie was nicely presented but there were too many pickled things and not enough meat and cheese. Overall, after spending $30 on food, we were not impressed. Not going back.
Consistently great food....
Good food especially the steak bites and the steak frites. We had a wine sampler which was very interesting.
It was cold upstairs. We asked the waiter if he could turn on the heat and he just said that the fireplace is on and that it will be warm soon. It never got warm. The people on the lucky table next to the fireplace took turns to sit on the bench next to the fire to warm up.
Cozy atmosphere for catching up with friends over shared plates in a non rushed environment
Pre flames fame biz meal :-) yum yum
Upon arrival at 5:00 pm on a Wednesday I mentioned we had a reservation for the rooftop patio and we were pointedly told by the gentleman greeting us that there were never any guarantees but we were lucky that day and he could seat us on the rooftop patio. (It was less than 1/4 full.) I do appreciate their efforts to scatter the tables so no one was seated right next to another party. We were seated in a less than desirable table on the inside corner across from a scissor lift next door which was moving up and down with drilling and spray painting. Our server was with us quite quickly. He was nice and professional but smelled strongly of cigarettes. We ordered a couple of items from the happy hour menu which were reasonable priced and very tasty. It was getting busier and we wanted to order again but the server informed us he was working alone and apologized for the wait when he returned to take our order. The party next to us may as well have been seated with us because they were jammed in that closely. There was space to leave a buffer but they did not unfortunately. Happy hour specials are always nice but it’s unfortunate when the place is understaffed and people are crammed in. It takes away from the ambiance and we felt a bit unwelcome. I wonder if it’s the same when it’s not happy hour? It’s a shame about the loud beeping scissor lift next door and our table being right next to it. For these reasons we probably will not be returning.
Horrible slow service
Great food, service and atmosphere!! I will recommend the Vin room and go back soon.
Great place to get together and chat. I like that there are lots of different size options for wine so that you can sip and taste without committing to ...large quantities. Would like some suggestions for food and wine pairings - maybe this is offered and I didn't see it.
We just had oysters and a bottle of wine; both were delicious. The service was outstanding!
One of the very best tapas restaurants in Calgary. The food quality is excellent, and the service is top notch. We will be back.
The Vin Room has a lovely patio and we were there on a perfect summer evening but it was our knowledgeable server who really elevated the experience.
Had a great glass of wine with my friend in the rooftop patio. Our server was great and really attentive.
Vin room is one of my go to places for a fantastic wine and great food. I love that their wine menu is constantly updated and has such great variety. Fantastic venue!
Great service and help with picking plates for a large group to share. An improvised flight was a hit! Food was delicious as always!
As usual, the food was very good, with attentive, expert service.
Vin Room, what can I say, it has become a great little go to with outstanding selection of wine and the serving staff make excellent recommendations!!
The foods are great and serving size is perfect, especially when you want to share a bunch of them...must try the Lobster Nachos! And to
finish off, their Creme Brûlée’s are amongst the best I’ve had!!
