The food was so bad. Caesar salad was chopped up into little pieces and was served warm with some type of Italian meat garnish that was rock hard, the worst caesar salad I have had. My wife's lasagna was in a bowl of soup. My Veal Parmigiana was so tough you could barely chew it. Their complimentary bread was like a rock. We could hear other guests ask for softer bread. I would never go back and never recommend anyone to their restaurant. The table cloth was covered in paper so they wouldn't have to change the table cloths for new guests. We like to try different restaurants, but this one was so bad.
Really good service and the food was great and big portions. Bring a friend and have a really good meal.
Amazing food and service. Price was a little high. Overall was good.
This was our first time here and we enjoyed it. I need to remember that when I go to an Italian restaurant that they are not really known for their steaks. So I need to choose better. It definitely is a place to go as a treat as it is quite expensive and the creme brulle and the Tiramisu looked to be the best desserts to have when I looked around our table.
Our family went for our daughter's university graduation. The service was wonderful and the food all arrived in a nice timely manner. We had soup, salad and various entrees. Everyone really enjoyed their choices including the non pasta eater.. We choose the red house wine which went nicely with our meal choices. Of course we had to finish the special occasion with desert :) It was not a cheap date but worth every penny !!
As always Violinos did NOT disappoint. Love love love our server and Adrian is forever a gracious host
Heard great things a out this restaurant and was excited to try it and left disappointed. We sat for about 10 minutes before receiving water or a drink order taken. Arancini was delicious, Halibut came out over cooked and missing the sides, Butternut Squash Ravioli was great, the side Penne was undercooked. Server seemed confused all the time and brought out the wrong dishes twice.
Our dining experience was a combined birthday gift from my mother and spouse as a lovely romantic dinner. The ambience is absolutely beautiful and I am always blown away how delicious each morsel tastes as my husband and I share our plates with each other. The Creme Brûlée is top-notch and the complimentary bread pudding, ice cream, berries and plated “Happy Birthday” message was a wonderful personal touch. I highly recommend Violina Gastronomia Italiana - thank you to the Chef, assistants and servers - we will definitely be back again!
The location is lovely and the food went above our expectations. We went with 2 small children and the staff were very accommodating. We hope to go back soon.
Such wonderful food and the service was amazing!
We were looking for a "fine dining" spot to celebrate our 45th anniversary and decided to try Violino. It turned out to be the perfect choice. We were warmly welcomed and treated royally throughout our special evening. The food was fabulous, and we were treated to a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. The many choices of dinners on the menu are a great temptation to return and experience more of the fine Italian food selections.
It was a wonder experience as always!
Paper covering the table cloth detracts from the ambiance
Birthday for my niece
Calamari was rubbery and not that appealing.
Ribeye had a lot of fat and gristle.
Scallops were the size of a small marble
Lobster was over cooked
Wonderful evening. Incredible food and each table is treated as if they are the only ones in the restaurant. Thank you for the special evening.
This used to be one of our favourite restaurants. We were disappointed with the food we had on the weekend and we have been going to this restaurant for approximately 18/years. The bread served prior to the meal was not fresh. I had the lamb and it was definitely not up to their standards. Also the potatoes were luke warm. I doubt that we will ever be back to this restaurant. Such a shame !!
Great place for celebrating a special occasion.
Extraordinary time! We went for a quiet family birthday celebration. All was delicious and a wonderful time.
Always a treat dining at this restaurant. Adrian and the staff always make you feel welcome and are very accommodating with special dinner requests. Fabulous patio if weather permits. Great spot for important date or celebration. Cheers.
We chose to visit this restaurant after a recommendation came from a friend. We wanted somewhere romantic and new for our 1 year wedding anniversary and this place did not disappoint. We made a 6pm reservation for Saturday evening and the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived but did get busier. We were sat in a corner so noise level remained fairly quiet. I’m a huge seafood fan so we started with the seafood platter and everything was delicious. The scallops and shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The mussels were LOADED with clam sauce and the calamari was wonderfully delicious and crispy but not greasy and heavy. Chefs pasta special was a seafood fusilli in saffron cream sauce, came loaded with big shrimp and mussels, unfortunately only 2 scallops but otherwise the dish was incredible. My husband had the half rack of lamb which came with 5 bones!! It was cooked exactly as he had asked and it was delicious. We each ordered a dessert: creme brûlée and tiramisu and we were also given a lava cake complimentary for our anniversary. It was a lot of dessert and it might’ve been nice to just have one of our ordered desserts gifted but we were grateful for the gesture. The wine and cocktail list was immense. My husband had an ounce of scotch and I certainly would’ve loved to try one of the house wines by the glass but I’m pregnant. So this means we will have to go back! We loved our meal and look forward to our next visit.
Amazing food and service! This is our new favourite place for a romantic dinner. Can’t wait to go back.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Awesome service.
We went for our daughters birthday. The food was amazing and large portions. Service was wonderful. The setting is very quaint...we loved it. Will definitely be going back.
Staff were friendly, a perfect location for my daughters birthday.
Food was exceptional, the service was was exceptional . Love the ambience .Went out with some with some girlfriends and and had an exceptional time . really felt catered too. Looking forward to the next time I will go back.
Great food and service
What a gem! This restaurant in an old house is tucked away and it is a treasure! Food is delicious! Definitely try the house feature - fettuccine alfredo flambed in an asiago cheese!
Food was excellent! Service good. Nice to sit outside on the patio, however the patio does not feel as "high end" as the inside. Would go back again.
The food and service here was excellent. We will return for sure.
Out dated but good service and delicious food. It's small but that just means the servers are more attentive. Wine list is pretty good and good should of pasta, the stuffed chicken was really good and same with the violino special.
Delicious Italian Food! Possibly one of the best in the City.
This was a day to celebrate my friends birthday
We had an exceptional evening at Violinos - fantastic food, great service, all around excellent. HIGHLY recommend!
It was very good food and service but request the main floor. As to me it will complete the positive!
Outstanding, all around, definitely come back again
Everything was very enjoyable. The service was amazing.
Reserved for inside but was sat outside instead by the hostess; it would have been fine but we both ordered the fettuccine for a second time and wasn’t aware we wouldn’t be getting the whole presentation of the dish so that was a little disappointing as I wanted my daughter to experience it as well. Good was still amazing!
It was our 40th wedding anniversary. Was a perfect evening. Our waitress was outstanding. A night to remember. We dined on the two house specials. Lobster and steak for me. My wife had ravioli with seafood. Thank you so much. Best romantic dining spot in Edmonton.
