   Used to love this restaurant. Was true Italian … you walked out of there full and satisfied. Now it’s just not the same. $45 for a small bowl of pasta with garlic and butter, 2 shrimp, two mussels, and two scallops, and it wasn’t good at all. $17 for 4 small pieces of bruschetta toast. I am hugely disappointed. We walked out of there with over a $200 bill and felt extremely ripped off! I used to recommend this place to people all the time. Never again!

   The desserts were the best thing out of everything we ordered. For the price we were expecting much better flavours for our entrees. Nothing overly special about this place, but the atmosphere was lovely, and the service was excellent.

   One of our favorite restaurants, whether we're looking for casual or romantic. Great atmosphere, even my kids commented that they "didn't feel like (they) were in Edmonton". The fettuccine is a must, dinner and a show all in one, whenever I order it, I'm sure it encourages at least a few tables around me to order it as well.

   First class dining experience! Charming property, beautifully maintained, with a stellar reputation for fine Italian cuisine. Menu offers a wide variety of choices all of which beckon the diner to chose Violino again and again. Servers are great and very helpful in accommodating dietary needs. Outstanding wine list. And the food was scrumptious and the presentation was lovely--capture it with your cellphone before digging in! Violino will meet your expectations for fine dining.

    Our second time, and just as delightful as the first, my only complaint (not really a complaint) was I wanted to switch out my potatoes for pasta which apparently you can’t do, so I had to pay an additional $14 dollars for a extra bowl which was far too big and still got the potatoes which went to waste. But overall delicious and we will be back!

    A lovely setting on the patio with my 92 year old mother in law. Handicap access was very good which I can't say for a lot of Edmonton restaurants. She really enjoyed the evening. The food was excellent and the meal was well paced. Nice to see people dressing up and making an occasion out of the evening. A bit pricey but a lovely evening overall.

    I got the chicken parmigiana entree, unfortunately tasted really old & the cheese on top tasted like plastic. I tried my best to add some flavour to up the taste but was not helping. My partner got the black & white pasta with tiger prawns, it turned out to be a sweet pasta which, was a bit odd flavour. Again, tried to add some flavour to it, not successful. The service was excellent and it is a really cute place for celebrations and such but not sure if I would return, scared to try something else & have to settle with $200 bill afterwards. Not sure if it’s worth it.

    We had a really lovely meal, in pleasant surroundings. It was busy but the noise level was good for conversation even with a hearing affected person. Delicious everything! Filets and Lamb cooked perfectly, yummy soup and beet salad Desserts were a nice size even after a nice dinner portion Tiramisu, Brule and affogato all excellent.

    My chicken parmesan was tough and tasteless And not served with pasta but roasted potatoes ordered a side dish of pasta did not seem fresh other than that the salmon we had was fantastic the vegetables were fantastic the terramazoo was lacking service out standing

    Nice setting with comfortable seating. The soup special and salad choices were delicious. Our entrees looked like they had been sitting under the heat lamps too long as my butternut squash ravioli had a skin in the cheese sauce. It was my birthday and they surprised me with a pice of cheesecake with berry compote- nice gesture. The cheese cake looked old and dry and the berry compote wasn’t enough to compensate for the lack of taste and quality. We did order crème brûlée which were adequately done and a generous serving. I don’t expect to return and would not recommend. Despite my experience the restaurant was busy enough, so maybe it was just our experience that was unsatisfactory

    Lovely Italian restaurant with perfect decor and table setting. The food was delicious - flavourful yet not too much, like the natural taste of the perfect combination of fresh herbs and spices combined with fresh food. servers were excellent - didn’t bother you yet always refilled my hot water with lemon before I needed to ask. They added special touches, including a surprise dessert with sparkler for my friend who was having a birthday. Will definitely be back.

    Violino’s has great ambiance. We started with calamari and Polpeti and they were unremarkable. Both dishes were luke warm. Caesar salad was our next course and again was not the best. Our halibut was very tasty but not hot enough.

    My typical fav restaurants are places like Sabor, RgeRoad, japonais… I hadn’t been to Violino for years and thought I would try it again with 3 friends. The server although pleasant seemed brusque at times, dumping half carafes of wine in glasses so quickly that when she pulled away her hand she would sprinkle us w droplets of wine.. she seemed in a rush always. Food was subpar, especially for cost. Feature soup- carrot and squash( I think) tasted like the base from a camp Ella soup chicken noodle mixed with like a carrot consommé- thinner than I expected but with either corn starch or something to emulsify on the tongue… peppery. It was ok but tasted like it wasn’t fully homemade and subsidized w store bought soup. Although in a fancier restaurant I’m a sucker for spaghetti bolognese and I figured for $35 the veal/ pork sauce should be excellent slam dunk for Italian restaurant. Verdict- I can do better at home. Tasted like ground beef, it was tough not tender and grouped in larger clumps w a tougher texture. Did not taste like a sauce made from simmering carrots, onion, celery with tomato and veal for hours ( as it’s supposed to be) but rather like day old ground beef I a a spicier tomato sauce ( could be subsidized w jarred sauce?) I thought it was two steps ahead of a BPs - yuck. Did not taste fully homemade and with rich, quality ingredients but again like a subpar version of the dish. The slivers of Parmesan as garnished was not good quality part, but had the gluey, processed texture and taste of like a Safeway compliments pre- sliced processed Parmesan. Not the dry, salty, umami quality of a high end parm… My girlfriends didn’t say anything negative but they didn’t have anything positive to add. My Chianti sangria was basically juice w simple syrup- no brandy as described. What’s w the added sugar! Dessert- I got a molten choc lava cake. Tasted like a very small, microwave choc mug cake with no lava center. I’m convinced it was a mug cake due to texture.

    I loved the food and staff. My only issue is that the dress code should be more enforced. If I'm at a nice restaurant and dressed as per the dress code, and most other patrons are as well. I'd rather not see people in a t-shirt and jeans. If I wanted to see that I'd go to Boston Pizza.

    The entrees of the day sounded delicious and my partner confirmed that the pasts special was in fact delicious. My meal of cajun spiced halibut was equally delicious.. Unfortunately, the chef’s special creme brulee turned out to be just plain old creme brulee!
