Amazing experience. People dining next to us so happy! Food was next level. If you go get Danny as a server you are very lucky! Made our special night just a memorable night.
It’s an amazing place
Intimate and tasty
I’d like to recognize our server, Anne, and the other staff for their excellent service. We advised ahead of time that we were Deaf, and they welcomed us prepared to communicate with text. Significantly, they also did not attempt to speak or make us lipread - this really was critical for creating a truly inclusive environment and letting us be our full selves. Unfortunately this necessary behaviour is very rare in the service and hospitality industries, so it is all the more appreciated for making our evening even more special. Thank you!
While the individual plates are expensive, meals here are amazing. The restaurant itself is quaint and the service is generally attentive.
Certainly a place to go for a special occasion.
Was great, got a free desert for our anniversary. Was unexpected and appreciated! Very personable and classy establishment.
We went for a lunch time date and had a wonderful meal. I would recommend this hidden gem to anyone who has an appreciation of Italian cuisine. Service and food were both exceptional
Amazing. Nothing more to say
Very disappointed in the food. The sea bas was nothing like what I would have expected. very few vegetables on the plate.
Lunch wasnt expensive for a good quality ...mido is amazing and not rushing...
Food was good seafood pasta with calamata sundried tomato sauce is a must try dish... service is amazing....ill come back for sure...
This is the second time we’ve been here as we are from Sask. each visit to Edmonton will include this restaurant. Jessor served us this year as he did last year and truly remembered who we were and knew even where we had sat. He is so attentive and knowledgeable and his service is outstanding. The food is prepared with care and the wine list is very reasonably priced with lots of mid-point pricing. A higher end feel and great value. Thank you!
The service was personal from the moment we entered. The staff was incredibly professional, friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious with a perfectly sized portion. The ambiance was perfect for the occasion, ( a third date and of course I’m trying to impress!) Thanks to the kitchen staff, servers, and hosts who made our evening one we will remember for a very long time. 😀
Over priced menu...server was wearing a dirty shirt and was distracted! Small portions of food for the price! Felt rushed!
Very accommodating regarding seating on the patio. Very hot and sunny and they made a table with more shade available. Best Birthday desert ever 👍
I've been there once before. Both times the service has been wonderful, food is outstanding, and I absolutely love the atmosphere. Great time and food. Thank you for the birthday dessert as well.
A lovely comfortable place to dine but unfortunately quite expensive!! Glass of wine $12.00
The service was great. Very friendly. Food was good but not outstanding. Bland in the flavoring. Overall good but not great.
Excellent food and service. Will go again and bring more friends!
Went with out of town visitors. I had taken them there 2 years ago during a visit and they specifically requested a return visit to this restaurant. We were not disappointed. Actually I've never had a bad experience and the food is always incredible. It's my go to restaurant for taking guests or when I'm craving Italian. I'm constantly introducing people to this gem!
A very special night out was made more memorable by this dining experience. While the initial waitstaff was disappointing, she was replaced by staff who were incredible, attentive, and so very warm and welcoming. Food was incredible. Truly outstanding. An absolutely perfect evening.
This is my favourite restaurant. The staff are wonderful and the food is absolutely fantastic.
Always a great choice for a special occasion. We enjoyed fantastic supper with our two girls while celebrating my wife’s birthday. The service was great and we didn’t feel rushed to clear the table.
We will be back!
Quiet dining experience with generous portions of high quality food. Great service too!
Our evening dining was most enjoyable! We have been to this restaurant a number of times not feeling satisfied, and thinking about the time what we might order.
Very accommodating establishment, especially for those with food sensitivities and mobility limitations. Very tasty meals and attentive service. The creme brulee was excellent and the birthday treat was lovely.
Went here for our anniversary. Service, food, ambiance... all fantastic.
The tiger prawns with black and white linguini with fennel in a cream sauce was delicious. My spouse didn't like that the chicken breast was diced up and tomato sauce with penne pasta wasn't that tasty. Pricey meals, but a nice atmosphere and the server was polite.
If you don’t eat steaks at Italian restaurants, this is not the place to start. Steak was definitely cooked in a way that I’m not too big on. Recommend sticking to their pasta - it was delicious!
What a delicious meal we sat outside on a beautiful summer evening . The food was just perfect and the setting in an old house made the evening most enjoyable. The staff were just the right amount of attentive. We will go back.
We loved everything about this restaurant! It was a great place to have our anniversary supper. The food was so good and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be back!
The service was very good; our server was personable and professional. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered pasta with pancetta and chicken breast in a tomato pepper sauce. It was served hot, but the chicken had been cubed and the morsels were dry, chewy, flavourless things. The sauce was similarly bland. My companion had the seafood special, sea bass. She reported that the fish was firm, but again without much flavour. Her meal was served on a decorative plastic tray, which certainly detracted from the mostly high-end decor of the place. Hoping to produce one positive memory from the meal, I ordered the bread pudding dessert. It was unremarkable. All in all, there are better Italian restaurants in town. I will not return to Violino and I would not recommend it.
Always great. Thx again and look forward to our next visit.
Food was better when I was there last, my fish was a bit over cook and I the service a little too fast for me. I enjoy dining slowly and not feel pushed,
Some restaurants write insanely good sounding menus but cannot live up to these descriptions. Violino lives up to their menus! The restaurant has an upstairs area, a main floor (where we were seated) and a great outdoor patio. We want to take advantage of that this summer! We started our evening with two antipasto: Asparagi Fritti (delightfully crunchy) and Arancini (delightfully creamy) – great contrast in textures. I had the Salmone Organico, which was done perfectly with two sides of Potato Pave and Asparagus. One friend had Filetto di Manzo – beef tenderloin that was very juicy and came with amazing “Italian cheese enriched potatoes.” My other friend chose the daily special, Lobster Ravioli. It was very rich and had a great cream sauce. There was a reduction or sauce with both the salmon and beef that we forgot to ask about – it was so tasty, we could have eaten a bowl of it. Dessert was Tiramisu (classic recipe with fresh berries) and Budino (described as butterscotch pudding with salted caramel sauce). The Budino was nice, but next time I’ll go for Crème Brulee! And there will be a next time. Well done, Violino. Your recipes and your staff are excellent!
I love this place! Been a couple of times. It's a very nice place for a special occasion. My favorite dish is their chicken alfredo pasta. It's their specialty. They flambe it in a giant cheese wheel. They only do it indoors tho, we went this past weekend and didn't know we couldn't see it out on the patio so that was a bit disappointing but it is really a great place! Great food and atmosphere!
Food was very good- only service was extremely "rushed" which was rather disappointing given the restaurant was not busy at all... Would've enjoyed a leisurely dinner experience on the patio, but servers were packing up tables and chairs as we ate so felt we were holding them up from wanting to close up for the night...
While service was great, "rush" was also evident in how fast our food came between servings, with the main course being only luke warm,....
This restaurant could have a lot going for it- re: friendly servers, nice location/setting & patio, but really need to work on creating a relaxed dining experience- customers look forward to being pampered when dining out... and with everything else going for this restaurant, should be easy to achieve... hopefully they take note of this and work to enhance the overall experience...
Violino is exceptional in every way. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Our guests always enjoy their dinners, no matter what they tidier from the menu. The staff is very pleasant and have a knack for good timing. No rush, no wait. The venue is charming. Overall, number one!
I went here for a date and I’m sad to say we were very disappointed. For the amount of money the bill came to, the food/experience was very underwhelming. Now I will say that the steak I ordered was probably the most tinder steak I’ve ever had, however it was smothered in a FAKE gravy that you could probably buy from Safeway... completely destroyed the steak. For the service it was okay but I was hoping he would have explained the menu a bit better. Overall I will not be going back. And from one foodie to another I would not recommend.
Always great service, atmosphere and of course food! Very romantic setting indoors and a beautiful patio in the summertime. Highly recommend!
