Very accommodating establishment, especially for those with food sensitivities and mobility limitations. Very tasty meals and attentive service. The creme brulee was excellent and the birthday treat was lovely.
Went here for our anniversary. Service, food, ambiance... all fantastic.
The tiger prawns with black and white linguini with fennel in a cream sauce was delicious. My spouse didn't like that the chicken breast was diced up and tomato sauce with penne pasta wasn't that tasty. Pricey meals, but a nice atmosphere and the server was polite.
If you don’t eat steaks at Italian restaurants, this is not the place to start. Steak was definitely cooked in a way that I’m not too big on. Recommend sticking to their pasta - it was delicious!
What a delicious meal we sat outside on a beautiful summer evening . The food was just perfect and the setting in an old house made the evening most enjoyable. The staff were just the right amount of attentive. We will go back.
We loved everything about this restaurant! It was a great place to have our anniversary supper. The food was so good and the service was wonderful. We will definitely be back!
The service was very good; our server was personable and professional. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. I ordered pasta with pancetta and chicken breast in a tomato pepper sauce. It was served hot, but the chicken had been cubed and the morsels were dry, chewy, flavourless things. The sauce was similarly bland. My companion had the seafood special, sea bass. She reported that the fish was firm, but again without much flavour. Her meal was served on a decorative plastic tray, which certainly detracted from the mostly high-end decor of the place. Hoping to produce one positive memory from the meal, I ordered the bread pudding dessert. It was unremarkable. All in all, there are better Italian restaurants in town. I will not return to Violino and I would not recommend it.
Always great. Thx again and look forward to our next visit.
Food was better when I was there last, my fish was a bit over cook and I the service a little too fast for me. I enjoy dining slowly and not feel pushed,
Some restaurants write insanely good sounding menus but cannot live up to these descriptions. Violino lives up to their menus! The restaurant has an upstairs area, a main floor (where we were seated) and a great outdoor patio. We want to take advantage of that this summer! We started our evening with two antipasto: Asparagi Fritti (delightfully crunchy) and Arancini (delightfully creamy) – great contrast in textures. I had the Salmone Organico, which was done perfectly with two sides of Potato Pave and Asparagus. One friend had Filetto di Manzo – beef tenderloin that was very juicy and came with amazing “Italian cheese enriched potatoes.” My other friend chose the daily special, Lobster Ravioli. It was very rich and had a great cream sauce. There was a reduction or sauce with both the salmon and beef that we forgot to ask about – it was so tasty, we could have eaten a bowl of it. Dessert was Tiramisu (classic recipe with fresh berries) and Budino (described as butterscotch pudding with salted caramel sauce). The Budino was nice, but next time I’ll go for Crème Brulee! And there will be a next time. Well done, Violino. Your recipes and your staff are excellent!
I love this place! Been a couple of times. It's a very nice place for a special occasion. My favorite dish is their chicken alfredo pasta. It's their specialty. They flambe it in a giant cheese wheel. They only do it indoors tho, we went this past weekend and didn't know we couldn't see it out on the patio so that was a bit disappointing but it is really a great place! Great food and atmosphere!
Food was very good- only service was extremely "rushed" which was rather disappointing given the restaurant was not busy at all... Would've enjoyed a leisurely dinner experience on the patio, but servers were packing up tables and chairs as we ate so felt we were holding them up from wanting to close up for the night...
While service was great, "rush" was also evident in how fast our food came between servings, with the main course being only luke warm,....
This restaurant could have a lot going for it- re: friendly servers, nice location/setting & patio, but really need to work on creating a relaxed dining experience- customers look forward to being pampered when dining out... and with everything else going for this restaurant, should be easy to achieve... hopefully they take note of this and work to enhance the overall experience...
Violino is exceptional in every way. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. Our guests always enjoy their dinners, no matter what they tidier from the menu. The staff is very pleasant and have a knack for good timing. No rush, no wait. The venue is charming. Overall, number one!
I went here for a date and I’m sad to say we were very disappointed. For the amount of money the bill came to, the food/experience was very underwhelming. Now I will say that the steak I ordered was probably the most tinder steak I’ve ever had, however it was smothered in a FAKE gravy that you could probably buy from Safeway... completely destroyed the steak. For the service it was okay but I was hoping he would have explained the menu a bit better. Overall I will not be going back. And from one foodie to another I would not recommend.
Always great service, atmosphere and of course food! Very romantic setting indoors and a beautiful patio in the summertime. Highly recommend!
Excellent meal and atmosphere as always.
I took my boyfriend to Violino for his birthday. I knew it was going to be a fancier dining experience than we normally do. The fact that they turned an old house into a restaurant made this place have lots of character but also gave a very romantic feel. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. It is definitely a place I would recommend for anyone looking for the perfect date night or to celebrate a special occasion such as an Anniversary. I was very happy with the food, staff and atmosphere.
It was perfect for our group and our occasion. Thank you.
The service was too good, the food came out too quickly. Felt a little bit rushed.
Fantastic evening. Thanks to Adrian and Ann for their excellent service. Complements to the chef!
What can I tell you is one of Edmonton best kept secret ,from the waiter to the manager all give top quality service in a very professional way… We felt at home the low deemed the Jazz playing all night he makes you feel very relaxed and ready to enjoy your meal… But what I like the most about this restaurant is that the manager bent over to please autistic son and that to me says a lot How about this restaurant and the people they hire… A true gourmet experience highly recommend it.
Service was attentive and ambiance was great. The food was alright, but didn't wow, particularly for the price point. I prefer Corso 32 or Cibo Bistro to ensure a balanced and adequately flavoured (or at least just adequately salted) dish! The waiter didn't note it was half price wine night until after the bottle had been selected, which was odd.
I totally expect to pay more at nicer establishments, such as this one, but would appreciate it if they were more communicative when adding ~$7 per person for water.

The service was friendly, they were prompt serving us our courses. The ambiance is very, very desirable. Both my wife and I remarked that we didn’t feel like we were in Edmonton. A very enjoyable evening.
It was my first time at violino and I really enjoyed it with my wife for our anniversary. The dessert plate with happy anniversary written on it in red icing was a very nice touch.
We booked this restaurant for a 60th anniversary dinner with our family. The food was fabulous and the atmosphere elegant. It was well worth it! Highly recommend!
Again Viloino delivered an exceptional dining experience for our special occasion. The meals were delicious and plentiful in portion size. This restaurant remains one of our favourite places to attend for its ambiance, friendly attentive staff and wonderful menu.
This is one of my mom’s favourite restaurants, so we went there to celebrate Mother’s Day and our dad’s 90th birthday! The food was very good and they decorated a plate with ‘Happy Birthday’ for our dad. It is a great restaurant for visiting with each other. We especially like the old house that it is in.
Not worth writing about
Dinner was absolutely excellent. The service was amazing. A little pricey but certainly worth it.
Came for Mother's Day brunch. The 5 course meal was phenomenal. Everyone in my family loved every single course - including my one year old who couldn't get enough of the creamy lobster bisque! We've been to this restaurant several times and have always loved the food, as well as the personal and attentive (without being too intrusive) service. Mother's Day was no exception. It was one of our favourite meals there thus far. Amazing food and amazing service made this special occasion over the top.
We went for lunch and we stayed for dinner too.Great patio, nice and cozy .Probably the best patio in Edmonton.
The only negative comment I would make was their tacky plastic plates/dinnerware on which our entree was served . Due to the plastic, the plate was not hot and thus the meal cooled off quickly.
The service was awesome. They were also very good with my partner's dietary restrictions. The starter and soup were delicious, as well as the dessert. My partner had the short ribs which they were able to make gluten and dairy free. I had the fish dish of the day, which was okay. The sides and the prawns & scallops were wonderful but I wasn't too fond of the fish itself. Not exactly an issue, just personal tastes. Would definitely recommend and likely go again for a special occasion as the price isn't exactly low.
One of the best Patio experience ever, pizzas and pastas are the best.Manager Adrian gave us a great service and very friendly.Overall a great experience.
Went with my wife and our young daughter. Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had as a family in years. Beautiful restaurant, spectacular food, great staff, romantic atmosphere. We will be back soon.
Wonderful service and wonderful food! Friendly, quiet and lovely place for a relaxing dinner. One of my all time favorites!
Service is always very attentive but not overbearing. Ambience and décor are perfect for a romantic date. Owner, Adrian, is always very accommodating and attentive. Great food and presentation. Love this restaurant. We worth it
Second visit here for a special occasion and I was not disappointed. Staff were friendly and informative, food was fantastic and atmosphere was welcoming. Great spot for a special date where good food, drink and conversation all go together. A little pricey but worth it if you take your time and enjoy.
