Vista 18 Westcoast Grill and Wine Bar
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Choose what time of day you feel is best to see all of Victoria and the surrounding area.
We booked the NYE seating which was advertised to have live music. Once we arrived and asked, we were told they could only get a DJ. That makes a big difference to the atmosphere for an event.
Our server, Michelle, was EXCELLENT!
The menu had lots of great options but about 1/2 our group found their food too salty and/or overcooked.
We’ve been to Vista 18 several times over the last 10 years but were sadly disappointed this time.
I wasn’t aware that there was a set menu for New Years Eve. Unfortunately there was nothing offered that appealed to me. What I did order I had to sent back as it was far too salty. Very disappointed as I was at vista 18 last year and we absolutely loved it.
Wonderful ambiance & service. The food was terrific- I was wondering about it regarding the other reviews that were posted about the food being mediocre. I had the porchetta, my husband had steak and both dinners were fabulous! Full of flavor and the presentation was beautiful. Also recommend the coconut calamari for a starter. The view of the city is visible from any table. Great wine selection also. For the meal & wine it was very affordable. I would definitely visit again.
Fabulous view. Good food. Friendly service but a bit slow. The background "music was strident, and along with the general noise level made it difficult to have a conversation. Overall very good, though, and we will return.
We wanted our family to have anew tradition on Boxing Day so we chose Vista 18 to go for dinner
Brunch was a fantastic experience, with grand food and views of Victoria! Choices of food were very nice variety and service was done with care. Would return in a heartbeat!!
We had Christmas brunch. It was well worth the money spent. Service was good and views were great. The sushi was dry. But apart from that, the food was very good. Especially for a buffet. Just shy of remarkable. Will definitely go back and refer others.
A great way to spend an evening. A view over Victoria at night with all of the Christmas lights twinkling. Our server, Molly was very good and attentive. We noticed that all of the servers were just as attentive. Food was very good and, we think, well priced. good value for our dollars.
It's probable that this venue would also be well attended during the day for lunch.
This was our third visit to Vista 18 and we would, and have, highly recommended it to any who ask about dining in Victoria. As far as we are concerned, it is a "Must Visit" every time we visit Victoria.
Thank you to management and staff for maintaining a very high standard of service and food preparation.
The view was pretty good, the staff excellent, the food was just okay. And for a venue as nice as this, that's a shame. We were looking for memorable.
Very relaxing and enjoyable with great views and friendly attentive service.
was such a let down sadly...I had not been there in years and was excited to go back for a special brunch. The hostess look as though she was been absolutely put out when she seated us. we were met with an eye roll and sigh. the leather seats through out the restaurant were all ripped and torn as if a farrel cat was set loose after hours. we ordered our brunch ( eggs, bacon ,potatoes, and some mini pancakes..pretty simple and common) the restaurant was not busy at the time we ordered. we watch 3 groups come in after us and get served before us. when we got out meal parts of it were cold. the poached eggs where swimming in water in a side dish. the pancakes were so tuff to cut we just didnt bother. the fried potatoes were a variety of burt ,undercooked, and a crisp potatoe chip like "hasbrowns". overall just a terrible experience. it was a shame to see. I could have had a overall much more pleasant experience at the local Dennys. I have since learned new managment and Reno's are in the works. one can only hope they will be able to salvage business and regain customers with this change. although after what I experience I imagine that will be hard to do.
Our family brunch was a lovely experience. The food was very good, the service was excellent, and the view was incredible. I would definitely recommend Vista 18, and I will be returning!
Great food, great service and fantastic view. I would recommend to everyone
Went to Vista 18 to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Enjoyed tasty meals that were the day’s special roast - leg of lamb. The accompany Yorkshire pudding was an extra treat. Ice cream is my husband’s favourite dessert, so he was pleased that one of their dessert options was their home made ice cream. Our corner table on the 18th floor, provided a lovely view of the city below, especially buildings decorated with Christmas lighting. The service was friendly, prompt and well paced.
Amazing views, good service average food! Asked for soft poached eggs which came medium hard, breakfast potatoes were either very crispy or slightly uncooked, waffles were meh. The breakfast croissant looked the best.
Unfortunately our special occasion were not acknowledged as requested on the reservation, birthday and anniversary.
Although the waitress was nice enough and the view of Victoria‘s Christmas lighting including the beautiful Parliament Buildings was wonderful- the food was overall sub standard.
Three of the four sirloin steaks were tough with grizzle through them. ( the purchaser must have been buying cheap meat ). The fourth pork dish could only be half eaten due to the over abundance of spices in it. There weren’t supposed to be any spices in it.
Last summer I recommended Vista 18 to some American acquaintances who complained about the food; I thought it must have been a one off bad experience since Vista 18 used to be excellent but apparently no longer,
As along time Victora resident, I will never visits Vista 18 again and will actively dissuade others from eating there. I have also included my review on Trip Adviser.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our server, Christy, great customer service, hope we are lucky to have her again.
Was a good breakfast, good service, will come back
Our Server Michelle was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped with our decision when my husband wanted information about the salmon appetizer. It was FABULOUS. The entire meal was delicious but the service made the whole experience even better
I avoid having to write bad reviews but last night was just so disappointing. We have been to restaurant two or three times before so were looking forward to an enjoyable meal. The chowder was awful, we both had fish, one mussels and one seafood hot pot for main but broth/sauces were disappointing. Server was good and view up to normal, but standard of food was just bad compared to previously.
Service was impeccable, food was delicious. The view is outstanding.
Vista 18 is my favorite restaurant and we’ve been dining here for over a decade. Something has clearly changed because today’s experience was abysmal. We waited 15 minutes for our food order to be taken, and another 30 before our food arrived. The ham was rubber. The cinnamon bun was someone’s hard/dry joke. Even the grapefruit slice was only half the usual size! Our server, who is usually aloof on a good day but we’re used to her, was practically non-existent. If we come back, it will be after a long break. Don’t know what happened!
Everything was super = the food, our waiter, the view. And I appreciate the "Ballet Menu"
Great view and ambience! Was a great venue to catch up with friends o we drinks and appetizers.
Our criticism is that the appetizer oysters were not as fresh as they should be. As well, the main meal was overly rich for our taste. Service was great. Ambience would have been better had we had a harbour view.
The food was terrible. The view might be good but the food left everything to be desired. The service was on par with the food.
Fantastic dinner experience! Great food and great value for the dinner showtime special. My boyfriend and I went out to celebrate his birthday and our server graciously comped our dessert. Fantastic food, we had the sirloin and salmon - both incredible. Awesome service, great ambiance and experience.
Wonderful views, great service and excellent food!
Nice dinner. Quiet environment. Nice view
Excellent food and service for my birthday night out! Staff were accomadating! Views were amazing like the top of the world! What a blessing! Good job Vista 18!
Amazing food and great service by Kevin. Made the evening enjoyable and relaxing; he knew exactly when to attend the table and when to respect it. It was truly a wondering evening out.
It's a great place to look out on the city while having a drink and dinner. To be honest, the dinner was average and the pinot noir was not very good at all. Overall, we enjoyed our time, made so much the better by waiter Kevin.
Came for thanksgiving. Wanted stuffing vs wild rice quinoa. Should have had pumpkin pie for dessert. Small turkey portion but tasty. Server was great.
Quite pleasant. Unfortunately, the brisket was a bit tough and while the sauce was good, the flavour of the meat wasn't memorable. The service and ambiance were delightful, however. We were in a corner with a good view the ability to talk with friends was an excellent change from the usual cacophony of Victoria restaurants. In fact we were surprised that while we were eating, a jazz combo started playing in another part of the restaurant. They sounded good as we were leaving, so we might go back for that.
The food is a bit pricey and not wonderful - vegetables so undercooked that it was difficult to cut the carrots and cauliflower. I appreciated the low noise level that allowed for a quiet conversation. The outlook over the harbour is great.
For a nice restaurant, someone should be cleaning the bathrooms especially the womens was nasty. Unflushed toilet and poo on the floor and down the middle of the other toilet it looked worse than a truck stop diner!! Portions sizes lacking at brunch and small drinks!! wont be going again or recommending the view was not enough to want to go again or recommend this restaurant!!
Yes, recommended for the view. The food was adequate and, although a couple of guests thought the price was dear for what was ordered, the traditional eggs and toast breakfast seemed reasonable. I ordered a half blackstone benny which I enjoyed. I also quite liked the side of potatoes.
The hostess and wait staff were nice enough when interacting directly but their service was lacking through inattention and neglect.
Such a relaxing environment with outstanding views of the city and soft ambient lighting. The added touch of the candles made it very peaceful. The wine selection wasn't too large for making a decision and was priced fairly. The meal portion was fairly small for the price so not the best deal for your bucks. However; the food was rich in taste and the service was timed perfectly. Looking forward to our next visit.
