Vista 18 Westcoast Grill and Wine Bar
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Choose what time of day you feel is best to see all of Victoria and the surrounding area.
Quite pleasant. Unfortunately, the brisket was a bit tough and while the sauce was good, the flavour of the meat wasn't memorable. The service and ambiance were delightful, however. We were in a corner with a good view the ability to talk with friends was an excellent change from the usual cacophony of Victoria restaurants. In fact we were surprised that while we were eating, a jazz combo started playing in another part of the restaurant. They sounded good as we were leaving, so we might go back for that.
The food is a bit pricey and not wonderful - vegetables so undercooked that it was difficult to cut the carrots and cauliflower. I appreciated the low noise level that allowed for a quiet conversation. The outlook over the harbour is great.
For a nice restaurant, someone should be cleaning the bathrooms especially the womens was nasty. Unflushed toilet and poo on the floor and down the middle of the other toilet it looked worse than a truck stop diner!! Portions sizes lacking at brunch and small drinks!! wont be going again or recommending the view was not enough to want to go again or recommend this restaurant!!
Yes, recommended for the view. The food was adequate and, although a couple of guests thought the price was dear for what was ordered, the traditional eggs and toast breakfast seemed reasonable. I ordered a half blackstone benny which I enjoyed. I also quite liked the side of potatoes.
The hostess and wait staff were nice enough when interacting directly but their service was lacking through inattention and neglect.
Such a relaxing environment with outstanding views of the city and soft ambient lighting. The added touch of the candles made it very peaceful. The wine selection wasn't too large for making a decision and was priced fairly. The meal portion was fairly small for the price so not the best deal for your bucks. However; the food was rich in taste and the service was timed perfectly. Looking forward to our next visit.
Excellent ambiance. Good service. Very enjoyable meal.
We have been going to all the restaurants in Victoria for breakfast and found your to be one of the better ones. Your menu was excellent. The only complaint was my crab had not been heated but the rest said they enjoyed the meal. The view of course it excellent and the waitress let us sit after we had eaten to continue our conversation. Thank you for making it a pleasant morning.
The food was delicious, the view was amazing. The interior decor is quite dated and worn, but if you can see past that, it is well worth the visit.
Service was excellent as was the meal. Always love going to Vista 18. Nice to see the addition of the spinach salad to the menu. Would love to see a meat choice in the appetizer section as I don't eat shellfish. Thanks, BC
There were small children crying
Wine glasses and water glasses that were on the table when we sat down were full of dust and had finger smudges all over them. Other then that it was incredible. Best view in Victoria, great food, friendly staff. Just dirty glasses at a classy restaurant for my one year wedding anniversary isnt really what I had in mind.
The halibut was over cooked, but the blueberry chutney was tasty. The seafood hot pot was very tasty. For the price, though, not great value. The service was excellent, but the decor is frayed and dates. The upholstery is torn and desperately needs replacing.
Beautiful view and romantic vibe. Good place for the special occasion date night.
after arriving in Victoria, a local asked about our plans... I boasted of my dinner reservations as I was on my honeymoon. He said to go to the Vista 18 for the view, drinks and dessert but not the entree. He was spot on. The presentation of the meal was excellent. the taste was less desirable. I had fish, a local fish that did not taste fresh. My wife had pork ( I believe ) it is was fine.
Great menu with local fare. Food was excellent...kudos to the chef! Our server, Peter, was very professional, knowledgable and made our meal a wonderful experience. Thank you!!
This is usually one of my favourite restaurants in the city but disappointing this time. The squid appie was good, the main - rockfish and beef tenderloin were okay but we both wished we had ordered something else; the desserts - creme brulee and a domed cheesecake were awful. I love creme brulee but this was soooooo sweet; two bites and no more; the domed cheesecake was boring and too sweet; neither of us finished dessert.
Fabulous views, wonderful service, our server, Nicole was very knowledgeable and helpful around my diet limitations. And the food was WOW! We were all very impressed.
Lovely people working here made sure we had a fantastic experience. Food was outstanding. Thank you.
View is amazing. Food was delicious. We were the only people in the restaurant for lunch! It was amazing.
The best chicken I've ever had! Food was cooked to perfection and although the meal may appear somewhat small it's quite filling. Beautiful views as well!
A little hard to hear some servers but overall it wasn't loud, just a lot of people enjoying themselves. Highly recommend! Food is a bit pricey so be prepared
All food dishes were delectable. One suggestion would be to have more Mellow, relaxed music in the background At a lower level.
This is a top-drawer venue with excellent and attentive customer service. Our guests were thrilled with the views and the food. My only complaint is this is listed as a "$$" moderately-priced restaurant, when it should be "$$$".
Celebrated my 30th birthday here on Saturday the 24th of August, with my boyfriend and friends. Everything was amazing from the service to the drinks and food! Will be back for sure😃
We stayed at Chateau Victoria and were thrilled to find out Vista 18 was in our hotel. The food did not disappoint. Two of us had the sturgeon (first-timers and it was amazing!), and 4 had the Holstein steak. They said it was the most tender and delicious steaks they had ever eaten (and one guy was from Texas!) Our waitress was lovely and very helpful pointing us to the correct appetizers and entrees. We also had assorted martini's. All in all, a spectacular view, excellent cuisine, and very friendly and accommodating staff.
Beautiful sunset view, quiet, and romantic. Got free dessert because it was my boyfriend's birthday! Overall, it was a wonderful night out.
Enjoyed breakfast and dinner there. The breakfast toast and potatoes were excellent. My steak and chicken was great. My wife had halibut for dinner very good as was the rest of the plate. Vegetable were the only thing that lacked. Mostly not to my tase. The dessert of peanut butter brownie and cheese cake was just so so. Service was great and when my wife was asked about her dessert. The server had suggested it, my wife said she didn’t care for it . The server took the cost from our bill. Nice!!!. The view is amazing and you can see most parts of the city or the Harbour depending where you sit. Price was higher than we were use to here in the US. But most of Victoria is high for food. The exchange rate helped a lot. Recommend this place highly . Eat there again when in Victoria
We were recommended to eat here by a friend who lives in the area. Although they had not been there in over 10 years, they felt it would be a nice place to eat while there considering its views from the top floor restaurant. The decor was quite run down. However the view was nice, at best. There is an apartment complex which stands right in front of the sunset view so there was nothing to see except the roofs of buildings around us. Our waitress seemed not interested in our table. Every time we were approached, she would leave before we were done speaking. When the food arrived, the meals were mediocre at best. I ate two bites of my in house braised brisket....it was un-chewable. None of the four of us who were there finished more that half our meals. Very disappointed and my friend who referred was terribly embarrassed. Definitely can find more interesting restaurants if you look. It’s a great town!
It has such a beautiful view, well worth the price. The service staff was very thoughtful and polite and had planned our table ahead for us; it was to celebrate her birthday and I had mentioned that. The squid starter was enough for four instead of two; wish I had known that and we might not have ordered it. The duck breast was very tasty but a bit tough; it might have been better if it came sliced.
Great food and great service. Perfect!
Vista 18 was just ok. The view was mediocre as was the food and service
it was quiet and the view is really good. would recommend if you want something on the more medium price, around 50CAD for one meal.
It was our first time at Vista 18. The food was excellent and the views of Victoria were great.
Family visit, very good!
beautiful view but overpriced food which isn’t worth the money. paid $8 for 4 tiny prawns as a “side addition”
We went for the view but the inner harbour side was closed. The brunch buffet was cold. Great value on the food, but not delicious. So much potential with this restaurant but the view isn’t enough to make us want to go back.
Service was terrible. Waited 45 minutes for food. Server was rude when brought our concern to her attention. She spent time conversing with people at another table rather than following up on our request for a second cup of coffee after food was delivered. Half of the food order was warm rather than hot, probably had been sitting there for a while. Hostess seemed much more conscientious and attentive.
A favourite place to take guests or just go in late afternoon for a glass of wine and an appie .
We have been eating at Vista 18 since we moved to Victoria in 1989 when it was called the Parrot House. Have always loved the story of how it got named the Parrot House but Vista 18 is now far more appropriate considering the upgrades over the years and the spectacular view.
Food was not as I would have expected. We went for lunch and ordered Prawn Tostados you couldn’t bite through the Tostados.
There were Two prawns on each Tostados!
Called the waiter who said he would bring some other item that was on the menu.
The Creme brûlée was equally disappointing we left it after just a mouth full.
May be breakfast and dinner is a different story but lunch definitely not.
The menu looks very appetizing so we were excited to have dinner at Vista 18. The views were good from the 18th floor and the evening was clear so the viewing of surrounding Victoria was nice.
The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful.
The big disappointment was the food. I had the wagyu beef cheeks. I envisioned tender, juicy and flavorful beef cheeks, so I ordered a hearty wine to accompany it. Unfortunately the beef cheeks were chewy and not tender, but the wined helped wash it down.
My dinner companions felt much the same as I with their meals.
We went for the view - hoping to see the tugboat ballet in action. Was not quite as spectacular a view of the harbour as we thought we would get from the pictures provided. Sunday breakfast buffet itself was very ordinary so we ordered off menu - must say that the eggs Benedict with west coast crab was delicious and the potatoes that went with it were thinly cut and truly delicious. Overall it was good.
