Vista 18 Westcoast Grill and Wine Bar
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Choose what time of day you feel is best to see all of Victoria and the surrounding area.
Enjoyed breakfast and dinner there. The breakfast toast and potatoes were excellent. My steak and chicken was great. My wife had halibut for dinner very good as was the rest of the plate. Vegetable were the only thing that lacked. Mostly not to my tase. The dessert of peanut butter brownie and cheese cake was just so so. Service was great and when my wife was asked about her dessert. The server had suggested it, my wife said she didn’t care for it . The server took the cost from our bill. Nice!!!. The view is amazing and you can see most parts of the city or the Harbour depending where you sit. Price was higher than we were use to here in the US. But most of Victoria is high for food. The exchange rate helped a lot. Recommend this place highly . Eat there again when in Victoria
We were recommended to eat here by a friend who lives in the area. Although they had not been there in over 10 years, they felt it would be a nice place to eat while there considering its views from the top floor restaurant. The decor was quite run down. However the view was nice, at best. There is an apartment complex which stands right in front of the sunset view so there was nothing to see except the roofs of buildings around us. Our waitress seemed not interested in our table. Every time we were approached, she would leave before we were done speaking. When the food arrived, the meals were mediocre at best. I ate two bites of my in house braised brisket....it was un-chewable. None of the four of us who were there finished more that half our meals. Very disappointed and my friend who referred was terribly embarrassed. Definitely can find more interesting restaurants if you look. It’s a great town!
It has such a beautiful view, well worth the price. The service staff was very thoughtful and polite and had planned our table ahead for us; it was to celebrate her birthday and I had mentioned that. The squid starter was enough for four instead of two; wish I had known that and we might not have ordered it. The duck breast was very tasty but a bit tough; it might have been better if it came sliced.
Great food and great service. Perfect!
Vista 18 was just ok. The view was mediocre as was the food and service
it was quiet and the view is really good. would recommend if you want something on the more medium price, around 50CAD for one meal.
It was our first time at Vista 18. The food was excellent and the views of Victoria were great.
Family visit, very good!
beautiful view but overpriced food which isn’t worth the money. paid $8 for 4 tiny prawns as a “side addition”
We went for the view but the inner harbour side was closed. The brunch buffet was cold. Great value on the food, but not delicious. So much potential with this restaurant but the view isn’t enough to make us want to go back.
Service was terrible. Waited 45 minutes for food. Server was rude when brought our concern to her attention. She spent time conversing with people at another table rather than following up on our request for a second cup of coffee after food was delivered. Half of the food order was warm rather than hot, probably had been sitting there for a while. Hostess seemed much more conscientious and attentive.
A favourite place to take guests or just go in late afternoon for a glass of wine and an appie .
We have been eating at Vista 18 since we moved to Victoria in 1989 when it was called the Parrot House. Have always loved the story of how it got named the Parrot House but Vista 18 is now far more appropriate considering the upgrades over the years and the spectacular view.
Food was not as I would have expected. We went for lunch and ordered Prawn Tostados you couldn’t bite through the Tostados.
There were Two prawns on each Tostados!
Called the waiter who said he would bring some other item that was on the menu.
The Creme brûlée was equally disappointing we left it after just a mouth full.
May be breakfast and dinner is a different story but lunch definitely not.
The menu looks very appetizing so we were excited to have dinner at Vista 18. The views were good from the 18th floor and the evening was clear so the viewing of surrounding Victoria was nice.
The service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and helpful.
The big disappointment was the food. I had the wagyu beef cheeks. I envisioned tender, juicy and flavorful beef cheeks, so I ordered a hearty wine to accompany it. Unfortunately the beef cheeks were chewy and not tender, but the wined helped wash it down.
My dinner companions felt much the same as I with their meals.
We went for the view - hoping to see the tugboat ballet in action. Was not quite as spectacular a view of the harbour as we thought we would get from the pictures provided. Sunday breakfast buffet itself was very ordinary so we ordered off menu - must say that the eggs Benedict with west coast crab was delicious and the potatoes that went with it were thinly cut and truly delicious. Overall it was good.
The view is amazing, but the menu choices were not that good.
We had a table with a city view, service was attentive but not overly so (thanks Molly), food was good, just the right size portions, cocktails we're tasty. Will definitely go back.
Lovely view - a must see. Waiter was very knowledgeable with the menu and wine list..all good choices suggested. I don't know a lot of resterants in Victoria but this one was recommended to us and it was lovely.
We had a tasty breakfast while enjoying a nice view of Victoria and the harbor. The service was very good. However, just as the four of us arrived a couple was given a window table for four instead of the empty window table that seated two. So when we were seated there were no window tables left that could accommodate us. Of course I didn’t want to ask the seated party to move. It was approximately 11:30 and the beginning of the lunch hour so the host must have known more parties would soon arrive. I mentioned this to a sympathetic restaurant employee who agreed and said he would mention the error to the manager. Other than that seating mistake we had a very nice meal and would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The service was fabulous but the breakfast very ordinary for the price and quality of the restaurant. Perhaps other meals are better.
Ladies Annual Brunch - great good and great company’
I’d give a perfect review but my fish was slightly over cooked
Great food, great service, unbeatable view.
Absolutely stunning views, and our server Peter was at the top of his game. Very interesting entrees were offered such as elk, rabbit, steelhead, and ahi tuna. I went with the lamb wild mushroom pie, and my wife ordered a more traditional tenderloin cooked to her preferred temperature.
Beautiful view of Victoria from the entire room. Our dinner was excellent, the tuna special was outstanding and the pork tenderloin melted in my mouth. We loved the retro fine dining feel.
The view is very good from anywhere in the restaurant. Our server (Peter) was sincerely accommodating. All the main courses were excellent, chicken, beef pie and steelhead. We shared 2 desserts, lemon tart with sorbet and strawberry cheese cake. The latter was disappointing. Other than that, we were very happy.
Our server was wonderful and the food was amazing! Thank you!
Good live music and views.
My favourite restaurant in Victoria continues to impress; many people go for the view, which is unbeatable, but the food is also an incredible value. The service is usually excellent, consisting of regular long-term staff, and even when full the noise level is quite comfortable.
The location was lovely and the food very good.
Service by Michelle extremely good. Food midiocre. Ambience: well could use some work. Loud music, tattered upholstery. I think this place has had its day. Good view.
Enjoyed the relaxed evening dinner; wonderful service. Well presented and tastefully prepared dishes.
If you want the best view of Victoria from above while having a great meal the Vista 18 is a great place to go. On some evenings there is music from a couple of great guitarists.
Order the chips and crab cakes for appetizers. Very good. Could use a zesty dip.
Had the sea food soup. Very tasty. Spinach salad was fresh but bland. Needs something more.
The service was very good. Not overly friendly but it was very busy with a wait staff that had too many tables. I spite of that they all made a great effort and it worked out well.
Our table was a little higher instead of at the window and this ended up being a real plus. Had a much better view all around.
Go here for a specia; occasion.
We had a fabulous meal and the service was wonderful. Also a great view and lively music.
I’m so happy that I picked Vista 18 to celebrate my 60 Birthday! We all had a wonderful meal and enjoyed the service and of course the beautiful views. We will be back!
What a great spot for brunch! Amazing views and good food.
Very reasonable prices too!
We had a reservation, and although the restaurant was 1/2 empty they initially tried to seat us in the back next to a loud, boisterous table with very active toddlers. When we explained we were celebrating my parents anniversary the host rolled his eyes and explained he had many reservations. Only after pressing him that we had a reservation did he move us to a better table with a great view. The food was expensive and the sirloins we had tough, the market special was anything but special. My advice, great place for a drink and/or dessert. Would not recommend for dining though the view can be spectacular
I doubt that the pesto on my pasta was made in house. In addition they put far to much of it on the dish. It lacked a subtle, deft touch.
Came for Father’s Day brunch great place good food and nice view of Victoria
From the start, when I went into the hotel to get a parking pass - was helped by a very courteous young lady. We were 15 mins early, but were able to sit right away at our table. Our waiter was very courteous, patient & attentive. The view was incredible - this will now be our go-to restaurant for brunch. It's so nice to be able to make a reservation, have paid parking downtown and very reasonable prices for a meal. My only comment was that the bennys - the English muffin should have been toasted more & my medium poached egg was a little over-done. Otherwise, the potatoes were the best we've had for a breakfast & the endless coffee and filling our water glasses was much appreciated. We did not feel rushed out & were able to enjoy our friends company and beautiful ambience. We would definitely recommend to others, although, we would like to keep it our own secret or it will become too crowded!
