    Delicious, decadent and the most amazing recommendation we could have asked for! Bread service, red wine, heirloom tomato with chèvre and eggplant sofrito with a 20 oz NY strip bone-in with brandy, peppercorn cream sauce- I am still thinking of this meal. The ambience is romantic, cellar-like and quiet. Only thing that would have made this even more perfect was light jazz music. It was a delicious experience. Thank yo.u

    This is for sure a place that you’d want to visit if you’re looking for great service, amazing food, and an ambience like a hidden wine cellar. If you have a spare dollar to spend, it’s worth the money.

    We celebrated our 50th anniversary at V. Mertz. It couldn’t have been mor perfect. The atmosphere, food, wine and dessert were exceptional. The service was spot on. It is our “Special” restaurant. I couldn’t recommend it more.

    The food was good, but we took a chance on a French bottle of wine based on our server's suggestion. The wine tasted like someone had stirred it with a dirty sock. Our waiter was not concerned about our polite, but honest opinion of the wine. We did not return or refuse the bottle, rather ordered a different wine by the glass, hoping that with time to breath, it would be tolerable. That barely made a difference. I was disappointed in the meal as a whole as result. The ambiance is terrific, albeit a bit noisy. The staff was okay, not great. The food was very good, but a limited menu. The wine - take a chance! Seems to me they would improve the chance by limiting the selection to fewer, but well-known great wines. Price was not worth it.

    Over all, we had a grand time. The wine pairings were nice for the fare and server had glimmers of seeming personable and appeared anxious about something unrelated to the dinner. The steak with sauce was excellent and I was enraptured; however, everything else I found to be either underwhelming, mediocre, or disappointing. The heading of "Happy Birthday Emily!" on the menu was well received and an unexpected touch. If I were to return, it would be for the steak and sauce and in spite of the rest. Just the steak and sauce.

    Our server Kendra was fantastic. Drinks and food were fresh and full of flavor. Ambiance was great and being we shared we were celebrating my wife's birthday. Her name and Happy Birthday was printed on the menu. Highly recommend this experience!

    My wife and I come here every year for our wedding anniversary and enjoy ordering the tasting menu. The variety of flavor combinations never disappoints and neither does the knowledgeable staff (especially David) when it comes to wine pairings.     Ran out of appetizer that was available but informed only prior to ordering. Overall food service took occasional delay, (delay between getting water, something to drink, and extended period to get dishes for an 8 pm dinner reservation). Food is spectacular so if you have > 2 hrs to spare would recommend.

    We save our trips to V. Mertz for super special occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries, because we know that we’re going to have a perfect experience every time. Last night was no exception! The staff is amazing and we always feel so taken care of. The food is always incredible. The restaurant is romantic and quiet, but doesn’t feel stuffy. We’ll absolutely continue to come back to V. Mertz for special occasion dining.

    What a lovely place to eat. Excellent place for that special night to enjoy excellent cuisine. We had the tomahawk and risotto Our server Georgie was a delight! We will be back. The steaks are absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection. The sauce served with the steak was something unique and worthy the trip.
