Wellington Court restaurant was a lovely spot to have dinner for my significant and I to celebrate our first anniversary! Right on the edge of downtown St. Catherine's, it is quite convenient to go from the station and have a nice stroll to the restaurant. It gives the feel of a quaint, quiet and cozy place to have dinner. There were very few tables for some couples and groups, but overall small - which was great for conversation as the volume was not very loud. Service was exceptional, which was fast, polite and helpful. However what was most delightful was the quality of the food which was absolutely delicious. It was easy to tell the ingredients were well prepared, and attention was given to preparing our food. Every bite along with the sauces it was served with was top notch. For five dollars I would definitely recommend the fingerlings, they were absolutely exceptional as a side dish. Overall would definitely recommend eating at this restaurant to a friend!
Has been one of our go-to places for decades, but menu was uninspired, service absolutely deplorable and food so-so. It was a Saturday night and almost no other diners. It would appear we aren’t the only ones to have noticed the decline.
Just tons of flies and gnats flying around screwing up the ambience.
This is one of our favorite restaurants on the Niagara Peninsula. Last night may have been the 4th time we've gone since May. Normally the food is delicious! Wasn't as exciting as usual last night, particularly the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate dessert. The noise level was also very loud last night. Adding something to absorb the noise level would be an excellent idea! But we'll still keep going as no place can be perfect every time and we've enjoyed Wellington Court very much for many years.
The staff were super and the good fantastic
Great Friday night out with friends. We sat in the lounge on the patio. The DJ was fantastic - the music set a fun and funky vibe. Food was delicious (the cauliflower tempura and zucchini parm are incredible) and our (many) cocktails were amazing (the Negroni 2.0 especially so). Service was excellent - prompt, professional and friendly! Will definitely return.
Outstanding from greet to bill!!!
First time visit. Was an anniversary dinner.
Wonderful secluded spot in the corner with soft music, delectible lighting and comfy decor.
No salt & pepper on the table!? None needed!!! The food served was Gordon Ramsey worthy! Highly, highly, highly recommend. Thank you for making our special day so memorable.
Spent several enjoyable hour visiting with friends. The food was excellent, the service friendly and appropriately timed. Will definitely be back.
Very nice lunch ... I had the perch sandwich ,very nice proportions ,well presented ,very nice service and very good value (in my opinion), recently redecorated.... giving the ambience a fresher feel ! I was very impressed and intend to come back more often , lunch menu was nicely balance as well ....giving a good number of options as well as catering to vegans, vegetarian's as well as those people that like the their meat
To celebrate our daughter's birthday...delicious food and outstanding, friendly service.
Outstanding food, friendly, prompt service, lovely dinner jazz in the background. Our fourth visit and by no means our last!
I have been around, traveled all over the world and still do, eaten at a number of fine restaurants, from NYC to Istanbul, Hong Kong and all points in between. This is a wonderful restaurant and you will not be disappointed.
Always a consistently excellent meal.
We have dined here many times and are always impressed.
Great food, NOISE RUINED OUR DINNER . 94 Decibels at max!!!! . An amplified speaker laying phat beats in the tiny central dining room. We had the misfortune to go on a damp Friday evening, so the young regular patio DJ set up his speaker ( larger than the tabletops for two) INSIDE in the centre room, and cranked it . At 8:00 pm. Retired academics at tables for four, a family with two small children, a romantic couple in their fifties.
We all agreed the noise was not enhancing our dining. Three times we asked the manager/owner to turn it down, and three times the DJ fiddled with the knobs and cranked it back up.I guess he wanted the tables in the front and back rooms to hear his brilliantly curated self-absorbed set, but I was in a small room with hard walls hearing nothing but reverb and the incomprehensible sounds of shouted conversations around me. I left before finishing my main dish and stood outside until my friends finished theirs and settled the check. We skipped the planned desserts and digestifs.
Stupid owner came out and apologized repeatedly, but refused to open the patio and let us take desserts out there--the storm had passed-- because then EVERYONE would want to go outside. Huh? And although I pointed out my decibel app with the 94 red zone reading, and that she was paying the man but losing the income, she wouldn't TELL him to STFU and go home.
PS. I'm 61 years old, excellent hearing, not ancient, and with a son who's a professional drummer . No amplification above conversation level should EVER be in a room that size. Even an acoustic guitar or piano would be iffy as people come to Wellington Court for great food and great service and the expectation of being able to have a conversation with their friends or family.
I have eaten here before and service and food were excellent but this trip was disappointing. They were out of two of the four white wines....no Sauvignon blanc and no Pinot Grigio. I ordered salmon and received a two by three inch end piece. Even by lunch standards, that was a very poor serving. The vegetables were excellent. We did not stay for dessert. My last experience was very good so this was a very disappointing visit, especially since I had really talked it up with my husband.
Great food. Extraordinary band. Awesome experience
We ordered the chicken and the duo of beef. Both were fantastic. Discovered a new wine that we enjoyed (Creekside Eatates Syrah Cab). Too many great dessert options to decide! However, above all, our host/ server was professional, friendly and unpretentious. We’ll definitely return if we are in st Catharines again!
wonderful evening ! was a reward from " ask Karl " - real estate agent. meal was superb!! I had the beef (melt in your mouth ) wife had the salmon ( brilliant ) and the pavlova desert ( to die for ). we will be back !!
Roast beef on a bun would be nice to have on menu again.
We found this little gem of a restaurant when searching for a place to eat before the theatre. It has a lovely ambience, wonderfully professional service and the food was outstanding. We would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting in St. Catharine’s.
Would be really perfect if they would bring back the shaved roast beef for lunch.
Lovely atmosphere with local art adorning walls. Very chic and clean styling and food was very good. Portions are a little small for price.
We’ve been to Wellington court twice this summer & had the best food that we’ve had on the Niagara Peninsula all summer. Really delicious!
Food and service were excellent. Inside was busy and very noisy, so we chose to sit out on the patio, where it was quiet and the evening was perfect for al fresco dining!
Another excellent meal and amazing service at Wellington Court. Never disappoints!
Hidden Jem! Food-focused on local ingredients. Loved sitting on the outdoor patio. A great medley of flavours. Food was divine, everything we had was quite tasty...chilled zucchini soup, calamari, pickerel, a duo of beef & sticky toffee pudding. A must try!
Had a wonderful dinner on Thursday July 5 before seeing Norm Foster play at the Performing Arts Centre. Cold soup of zucchini & ginger was delicious. Fresh pickerel with local green beans was perfect. Sticky toffee dessert was oh so sweet! Would definitely love to eat here again the next time I come to St. Catherines.
Enjoyed lunch the other day as Wellington Court is a favourite for my friend's birthday. Food was delicious ( Rigatoni, sticky toffee pudding) and service is always wonderful and one never seems rushed.
Celebrated a birthday here. The restaurant was not very crowded for a Saturday night. The food was good but portions were small. The strip lion steak was not well trimmed and very fatty. We had room for dessert but my husband was still hungry when we got home.
This was a wonderful find! We were in St. Catherine's on holiday and could not have been happier with our experience. Our meals were incredibly tasty, artfully presented, and full of local flavor. Our server was kind, competent, and friendly. The pate was fantastic as a starter and the sticky toffee pudding with hazelnut praline was scrumptious. Thank you for a wonderful meal on our last night in Canada!! I highly recommend!
As usual, the food and service were great! The pate and ribeye steak were simply delicious!
Great meal, great atmosphere and great service. Recommend this place highly.
I have been to this fine dining restaurant several times over the years and enjoyed their menu. This time however was mediocre as the ribeye was very fatty and a little tough. But very tasty! Approx half of my ribeye was grizzle and fat and had to be discarded making the value of my meal seem out of sync. Service and ambiance was exceptional as always.
Celebrated our wedding anniversary. Enjoyed the calamari, beet salad, beef, and salmon. Clean, quiet, and cosy. Attentive staff. Would return to celebrate another special occasion.
Have eaten here many times and it never dissapoints
We were there on Saturday evening
We both had the pate. Excellent
One diner had the salmon and the other the beef cheek. Both excellent.
Service was very professional.
Their wine list is completely local encouraging local producers
Prices were fine with the quality provided
We have been there before and will return
A cozy restaurant , pleasantly appointed. We were entertaining american relatives and although the food is excellent the servings are small and everything is a la carte which when added up was very pricey for simple but good entrees. The menu is limited
Had a lovely meal. Recommend the pate (mild and flavourful), and calamari (tender) appetizers. The salmon and duo of beef mains were very nice. Try a Caesar teaser made with aqavit! Seating is open and close to fellow diners - thus the 4/5 ambience. I would return.
Had a wonderful dinner here with my wife. Are outside, so I can’t comment on the sound level inside. Service was impeccable. Attentive, but not stifling. All of our food was excellent. The house made pate was a little bland, but was served with excellent toasted bread. The beef duo was very good. The contrasting flavors of the 2meats worked surprisingly well. My wife enjoyed her salmon as well. Finished with the chocolate pate which is a decadent take on a deconstructed snickers bar. Would definitely go here again.
Always enjoy a lunch with a special friend at Wellington court and have come on and off for years. Service always wonderful, never rushed and perfect for conversation. Would love to see return of a few old faves like the chicken, cashew mandarin salad and even a delicious Caesar.
Always lots of chAnce. So easy to reserve on Open table.
