For those keen to observe ‘behind the scenes’ action and experience West from a unique perspective, the two ‘chef's tables’ can be found directly adjacent to the presentation kitchen. One of the highlights of the dining room is a temperature-controlled wall of wine, and under it, the long cherry wood bar that gracefully anchors the conversation—where martinis and cocktails are composed of fresh herbs, juices and creative infusions.

The food and service are always at the upper end at West.
Consistently one of the best restaurants in Vancouver over a long number of years. Original delicious food.
Celebrating a friends birthday. Lovely ambience, great exclusive wine, delicious food and of course courteous and attentive servers and staff.
Never disappointed at West, food and service always outstanding.
Artistic presentation, attention to detail, impeccable service.
Absolutely flawless from start to finish. Even at the best restaurants there's usually one or two small things that could be improved. None here.
West is one of Vancouver's best. Had dinner tonight which was one of the best we have had in Vancouver.
15 min late seating us
Excellent Bar tenders (conversational)
Food expensive for what it was
Was ok experience for 3 star
I took my mother and my two nieces to this place and tried their tasting menu. We were very happy with the creativity of the chef and very happy with the food. The only thing we felt a bit dissatisfied was the crowded tables. As our table was in the middle of the restaurant, people were constantly walking around and I got knocked on my head by the waiter as he was collecting dishes from the table next to us. He didn't even realize he knocked the plates on my head!
Food was well done, but greeting staff lacked etiquette and finesse. Arrived with dinner partner in wheelchair after recent surgery. Had notified them and was pleased they set up table with easy access. However had to manipulate chair through massive entry door and hostess only ran up afterwards saying she could have helped. Hard to believe because on the way out the same thing happened. Actually walked by her and she said goodnight, but did not follow the 40 ft to help with the door, again only running up at the end when we were jammed up half way out the door (oddly diners waiting at door stood out of way but also did not offer to hold door - sad to see that today and reminded of past surveys saying Vancouver is Canada’s most unfriendly city ).
Similar experience last year - lovely dinner, but hostess looked confused when a group of 3 of us asked about hanging up big wet winter coats during a rare snow day. Although she said she would be back to take them, she never did and we spent dinner with a pile of coats in the 4th chair at the table. After dinner realized I had not seen a coat rack. Do they have one? Given the price of this place and that they present themselves as a fine dining establishment, both these incidents have me wondering if I would go back.
I have eaten at West on various occasions and each time the meals were excellent. The staff is very attentive and service oriented. Recently I have hosted a business dinner for someone from Milan. We wanted to take her to a restaurant with local options. She loved it.
Would highly recommend. Food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. Manager floor presence was evident, he greeted us when we first walked in, showed us to our table and later on even made wine recommendations with our meals.
Exquisite menu. Excellent service! Very attentive staff.
Absolutely brilliant meal. Love dining here!!
We had the price fixe 3 course dinner which was outstanding!! A great value!! Service was excellent.
I love this restaurant. I have NEVER had a bad meal, whether it was brunch, lunch or dinner - they have all been exceptional The service is superb and they accommodate the little extras you request. At the end of dinner, their homemade truffles are to die for. Go and enjoy!
One of the best meals I've ever had. Vegetarian tasting menu was superb, and pacing was great. And the price was reasonable for the number of courses and the quality of the food. My partner had the non-vegetarian tasting menu, and he thought it was one of the top 5 dinners he's had. Cocktails are inventive, and there are many wines by the glass. Service was friendly and efficient.
Food and service are excellent. Good value for lunch special.
Always a great spot for a nice dinner
Beautiful setting, modern and classic; intimate; wonderful staff/service; creative local cuisine; fine dinning.
Enjoyed a wonderfully flavourful lunch at West. The occasion was a friend's 70 birthday. My friend and I both loved our soups - pea for one and onion (unique preparation with intense broth) for the other. My friend ordered the halibut cakes with salad and I absolutely loved the duck salad. Service was excellent. My first time at your restaurant, will not be the last.
West continues its usual high standard! Thanks for a great meal.
Had a very nice, enjoyable meal at West. We ordered one of the set menu and the special which was a steak. Other than the steak being rather salty, the food was good. I didn't find it to be anything outstanding though. They have some really great cocktails and I'd probably come back just to try some more of those!
The food was excellent, but took a little longer than expected to serve.
West has been our go-to restaurant when we have theatre tickets at The Stanley, unfortunately the last three times we've eaten here the food has been so salty it had to be sent back or we just didn't eat it. For this price point the meals should be exceptional, sadly they're not. For us it's three strikes and they're out, need to find a new date night go-to.
While the servers seemed somewhat distracted, it was not enough for us to not have a lovely meal.
Still an excellent restaurant. Warm contemporary environment featuring a very high ceiling, a huge wall behind the bar with plenty of wine, a glass enclosed kitchen and spacious seating with very comfortable leather seats. The menu has lots of delectable options heavily focused on local seafood, meats and fresh vegetables. A great bar selections and lots of reasonably priced wine. The staff was attentive with just the right amount of visits from the Maitre'D. Will check West out for a Friday evening drink!
Although the food was excellent, the service was very snobby. We were asked 3 times to leave our bags; they were not in the way and one of our party had valuable camera equipment. Also, one of our party was asked, none too politely, to put her bottle of water back in her bag. We asked to receive separate bills and this was quite a problem...all in all, excellent food but unpleasant experience !
The lobster gnocchi appetizer was among the best dishes ever. The gnocchi was fluffy, the lobster was sweet and the broth was perfectly seasoned. The halibut was also perfectly cooked.
The petit fours were perfect.
Had the special fixed price Spring menu . As I am gluten free by necessity, my choices were limited. However, I enjoyed my asparagus salad, mushroom risotto Main & a rhubarb based dessert. I would have liked the salmon but the gnocchi were not gf. Chef did not suggest that any substitutions could be made. I would have welcomed more of a choice in my Main course. I didn’t have one. Service was very nice, although with many of the diners theatre bound it must be challenging for staff. We appreciated the timeliness of our courses.
2nd time at West for their 2 course lunch. Excellent value for quality and great service
Noise level is lower at lunch time
We had dinner pre theatre and had the pre set menu option, very delicious food. Be aware though that they tend to cook their beef on the underdone side. A medium flat iron steak was served rare and a medium rare was served very rare. Service was attentive and professional.
Delicious food. Expensive but excellent. Fantastic service. Tasteful ambience. Too expensive for my budget as a frequent place to dine but wonderful for a special occasion. Took my father there for his birthday and Father's Day and it was perfect. He loved it.
Enjoyed spring special. The main was a bit too salty for me this time, but overall was great.
The food and service as always are amazing- great menu for drinks and dinner. The fires are to die for!
What a joy to eat at a restaurant that is focused on food and the customer. That seems self evident, but so few places pull it off consistently. We had brunch on a Saturday and were very pleased with both the service and the food. The fresh squeezed orange juice was the best I have had in a long time, and the eggs Benedict were done perfectly. Happy experience.
I think this is one of my new favourite restaurants. I don't go very often but if I really wanted to treat myself, I would come out here with a friend or family member. I think the meal portions should be a bit more but they are delicious, beautiful and mastered really well. I love the service and the fact that servers are so well dressed. Very classy atmosphere and creative cuisine, I love this place.
Pre dinner cocktail was excellent. Enjoyed the show of watching it be made. Service was very attentive and the Spring 3 course meal special was appreciated.
