View Private Dining DetailsLovely brunch. Delicious food and friendly staff! Will go again.
It has been the only place in Vancouver that has a unique vibe with a soul. Food and service is also exceptional.
Beautifully designed and incredibly creative cocktails. We sat in the back underneath a roof of dried hydrangeas and flowers....gorgeous.
Food average. Dishes as a whole were under
seasoned. On the Sweetbreads, the Olive tapenade was too heavy handed and overpowered the dish. Scallops and Pork Belly, the pork was tough and almost inedible. Every drink came out late. Dessert (bread pudding) had cold creme anglaise that cooled the warm dessert.
We had brunch here on a Sunday morning. Great atmosphere, awesome backbar and good food. Service was good and friendly.
Looking for a tasty and entertaining dinner while downtown on my own for business. Narrowed my choice to Wildebeest for the selection on the menu. They allowed me to order Omakase and I was not disappointed. Great use of acids to balance the savory flavors. Love and technique demonstrated on each plate. The bartender was knowledgeable and answered my queries with ease. Same for the kitchen. The meal was paced nicely without feeling rushed which is easily done when dining alone. Thanks!
Amazing food at wildebeest ! One of the best meals I’ve had in Vancouver. Loved how our server came over and explained each of our dishes. We went for the early bird set menu which was great value at $35, my only criticism is that the early bird dishes were quite small, think they were half portions. As I said, meal was amazing, just didn’t leave full.
Wildebeest is amazing! The food and service were fantastic, really enjoyed our experience.
Ordered the bison and scallops with pork belly, both the bison and the pork belly were very tough.
Great food, Service, drinks and ambience. Return visit already planned. Bringing friends along :)
Had an awesome brunch. Food was awesome!
Good experience. Service was excellent. Environment was warm, low-key trendy but very comfortable. Food was different but good. I love to eat but I’m not much of a foodie so I don’t have a refined palette for dining. You will need to try it out and find out for yourself, like all things in life.
Awesome food and drink. More than just everyday dining, an experience. Love it.
Great food. Awesome ambience
Wildebeest has become one of my go-to spots for good eats in downtown Vancouver. The food is always delicious and the service exceptional!
This place was highly recommended by another good restaurant's server, so we decided to visit it. It did not disappoint: the food, wine and service were all excellent. If you think you know what spare rib is, you will change your mind here. Order the Buffalo spare rib. Unlike "normal" ribs, it had more than an inch high lean buffalo meat on small rib bones: 90% meat vs. 10% rib. And the ribs fell out by just poking with the fork. Best ever spare ribs!
The wine list is also extensive and there are many great wines that are not expensive.
We are glad that we took the recommendation and went to Wildebeest.
I very much enjoyed our weird meal. Definitely recommended.
Greeted promptly and was seated immediately. We received the request for a quieter booth so they gave us a corner at the back which was great. Excellent food and portion sizes perfect. It would be better to go even earlier than our 11:00 booking time as it was already loud and crowded then. Best to be there at 10:00 if we wanted a quiet experience. Even though we mentioned it was a birthday celebration, however, there was nothing mentioned nor anything special done for us. It would have been nice to have a special treat or comment.
My wife and I went to Wildebeest pre Canucks game and I would recommend Wildebeest pre-game for its proximity, the type of food and the vibe. It all works very well together. My only real criticism is the food. While the food is good, it seems as the food is reverse engineered, starting with what they want the finished plate to look like and less concerned about how the flavours interact together. This was true of our main, the pork belly and scallops, and the deserts.
When the main arrived, it looked amazing, the scallops had a perfect sear, although only on one side, and the pork belly was a bit too tough - not horribly so, and slightly bland. However, a red cabbage puree with caramelized green cabbage I believe it was, was used to pull it together. The result was a dish that was overwhelmingly sweet that killed the subtlety of the scallops, and buried the flavour of the pork belly.
We would go again however, I would recommend analyzing the items of a given dish and not just trusting that it works.
Surpassed expectations! Even though it was extra busy because of St Patrick's day, the kitchen and staff were well organized, the food came out timely and was delicious
Really nice menu
Food was awesome and the servers were very friendly
Great dinner before a show. The lasagne was fabulous! Only complaint is a it would be great to have more than one vegetarian option. I know the focus is on game and we love the food, but we tend to choose another restaurant when there is a vegetarian in the group.
Very nice restaurant, but they need to get rid of those stools as seating. They are really uncomfortable, which took away from the dining experience.
Great meal and attentive staff. Would eat here again.
Nice brunch meal and the cocktails were fun. I would definitely go back. Could use a few more fun things on the menu though for the brunch-goers. Maybe some beef tartare?
Food & service was great but so loud, our table of 5 could hardly hear over the music
Always amazing food and always REALLY happy with the service at Wildebeest. Always take my friends when they are in town :)
Overall great experience. There were 4 of us, 2 were extremely satisfied, 2 had feedback. The crab Benny was a little cold but still tasted great. The back bacon that came with the classic breakfast was delicious, but surprised to find only two small pieces - should have had more for the price.
Phenomenal food and even better service!
We had delicious cocktails to start our meal and good advice about wine and food choices. Food was from good to excellent, depending on the dish, although some what small portions for the price. Surprisingly for a meat-based restaurant, I thought the sesame green beans were superb, and the brussel sprouts ceasar a knockout. The bison steak with fois gras was delicious. We also had pork belly with scallops, my least favourite dish - the pork belly was more like pork hock, smoky and chewy rather than melty. Service was competent and friendly but a bit rushed. I would have liked to linger, but food came very quickly , dishes were whisked away instantly, and suddenly we were out of there. All in all we had a good time and good food and drink. I would go back.
A very nice meal. Attentive but not pushy service.
The chair i had was not that comfortable.
The service was amazing. She was very friendly. The good however wasn't too good. My salad was quite salty I feel that the chef definitely oversalted. My friends dishes were the same. It was nice when my friend asked them to add more hash so it wouldn't be so so salty and they went above and beyond to make a new dish which tasted great after.
Best birthday brunch ever!
The food was incredible q
Very nice staff, with warmth and knowledge.
I think I was the last reservation of the night at 1030pm. The dining room was still extremely noisy and the noise from the bar downstairs was over the top. Ok, so I'm the oldest person in the entire restaurant and I sound like my parents! Other than the noise volume, a wonderful place.
Great happy hour...the Brussels Caesar is fantastic!
Fresh ingredients put into interesting combinations. The flavours could be more balanced. My favourite dishes were the elk loin and burrata The service was outstanding.
A little disappointing. Everything just seemed a bit off.
We loved our experience at Wildebeest! We luckily scored a table with a view of the kitchen so we got dinner and a show! The menu is well thought out with options for all appetites (one of our number is a vegetarian). We were impressed with the food, wine and beverage recommendations from the staff as well as their care and attention to our dining experience. I highly recommend Wildebeest for a dining experience you won't forget.
Will definitely return! A wonderful dining experience: food, service and ambience were all excellent.
Food was great. Great wine, great server, named PM
