The pastrami reuben was AMAZING!!! Extremely tender with crispy edges, the absolute BEST from any SF deli I have tried, no joke. I was absolutely delighted and can't wait to return for another. And for any bialy lovers, they have 'em! and the real McCoy, what a treat! As for the latkes, matzo ball soup and chopped liver, not as much our to taste, (or would have said 5 stars on every front) but hey, with this reuben they outdid themselves - and the cinnamon rugalach shouldn't be missed, delicate and delicious! We will be back to enjoy this fantastic reuben!

Awesome Jewish deli! I Can’t seem to find a Jewish deli in the peninsula anymore. I would highly recommend this one. The crispy pastrami was great! Too bad there wasn’t any kinishes. Chopped liver was too die for with a bit of a spicy kick to it- loved it! Give Wise Sons a try you won’t regret it!

This was a poor excuse for a Jewish deli. I had never had matzo ball soup in a beef broth. It is always made in a chicken broth. The pastrami was dry and tasteless. There was no service. You had to order and pay at the counter then wait at a table. The fries were awful. It was an all-round bad experience:-(

We had a very bad experiencie, they didn't even knew they were on Open Table, so when we arrived they told us they were about to close, so when I told them we had a reservation they told us they don't make reservations (until I showed them they do). We ordered matzoh ball soup that was ok, and some pastrami and corn beef sandwiches that were uneatable, the sanwiches were only fat, almost none meat, we are not coming back.

I wanted some Hannukah food and some non-Hanukah Jewish food, last Saturday night. The matzoh ball was good. The soup was lukewarm. Soup has to be hot! The pastrami was too lean -no flavor, and what kind of a sandwich was that? A bunch of meat stuck between two pieces of bread. No character, and the potato salad was cold and not fresh, and too mushy.

We had pastrami sandwiches and onion rings, and bought a babka to go. The pastrami was excellent, as were the onion rings. The babka was decent. The homemade rye bread was kind of bland, the potato salad was decent, the pickles had a good flavor but weren’t very crunchy. I’d go back, but I wouldn’t make a special trip just for this. I also wish we’d gone a little earlier. The neighborhood seemed a little sketchy when we had to stand on the corner waiting for our Uber after Wise Sons closed. I will say that, being from NYC originally, my standards for a Jewish Deli May be unreasonably high for the West Coast.

I have heard only great things and have bought their bagels and stuff around town. Went to the 24th street location for the first time and had some of the worst service I've ever had. Nobody came to talk to us after we were seated for over 10 minutes. Then the server was grumpy and rude. When they brought out the appetizers, they did not bring plates. We waited several minutes and then had to get up and get someone's attention and ask for plates. It was an entirely unpleasant experience. Will not go back there for a sit down meal.

Food was great. Service was amateurish and underwhelming to say the least. As a chef myself nothing is more annoying than having great food ruined by horrendous service. There were only two wait staff on the floor when we were there and, despite the room being maybe one third full they seemed over whelmed, uninformed about the menu and missing many service points. I’ll eat there again, it’s around the corner from my house, but I’ll go for the food, not the service

Not bad for a San Francisco Deli. We had Matzo Ball soup and Pastrami Sandwiches. Parking in the area is really tough so park elsewhere and use Lyft or Uber. Certainly doesn't compare to an East coast deli but good for a casual snack or meal.

The egg cream is terrible! Completely misses the mark - lacks all the flavor enjoyments of a well done one; the potato latkes was really most like a mash of potato into a pancake; the cole slaw missed the mark as well, no zing to it at all. The jelly doughnut was bland and ready with an indiscernible filling. The only item we thought was nice, tasted good, was the vegetarian ruben.

While the location is a bit out of the way, it was worth the cab ride to/from. Simple, basic, open seating. Not sure why reservations recommended. It's pretty straight forward. Service was great, food was greater. Disappointed there wasn't more selection for dessert. When next in The City, would certainly return.

We ordered the potato latkes appetizer for 3. They were tasty, but felt they were premade and warmed up. Latkes are usually uneven in size and these were preshaped and identical. My Ruebens pastrami was delicious (had the sourkraut on the side. Smart decision as I did not like it when I tasted it. I usually love sourkrat. ). My other guests had the classic pastrami sandwich and they said they were very good. Pickles were excellent and a nice cole slaw. The Stout Egg Cream was horrible and the staff were good enough to switch it out after one sip to a regular Egg Cream which my guest enjoyed. The celery soda was just a sweet sparkling water with no flavor at all. Would never order again. Ambience was fair and would try the Wise Sons at the Jewish Museum for a better feel. The staff that served us were very nice. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood after dinner enjoying the many murals and life of the street. Go for the Rueben pastrami. It was fabulous.

I grew up on Jewish deli food and I've been to The Carnegie Deli, The Stage Deli, Rattner's, Wolf's, Cantor's, Jerry's, and Brent's. I don't get what all the fuss about Wise Sons is. It's good, it's fresh, but all three times i've eaten there their corned beef has been a little dry. Their rugelach was dry too. A Jewish deli sandwich should be big and juicy. The pickles were good and fresh, they had a nice snap to them, I just wish they were truly Jewish deli sour pickles. Perhaps I was hoping for something more old world and I got new world. After all, they put Swiss cheese on corned beef. Oy!
