Came here for dinner recently and overall enjoyed our experience. We started with the mushroom soup and the plum salad. Both were very delicious except I am allergic to truffle oil and could not really try my husband’s soup. Next we had the chicken and pork chop which were outstanding dishes! Both very saucy if you like that and flavorful. The only knock on the pork chop is it also includes sausage which I think is overkill. The porkchop should be the star and doesn’t need a second meat. We also had a couple of glasses of wine and a cocktail. The wines were not great so might skip next time. Service is friendly but is slow. They definitely need at least one more server. They forgot our request for more bread and were slow to bring the cocktail. But food is great if you know you will be there for a couple of hours.

Wood Tavern is our favorite spot. I love sitting at the bar with a friend, or gathering around the table with other couples. Manhattans. The burger. The roast chicken on spinach. All perfect.

It was amazing!! I recommend if you want a delicious meal with beautiful ambiance go to Wood Tavern. You won’t be disappointed. Food was beyond par. Drinks were delicious. And the sorbet dessert was scrumptious. Enjoy!!

Excellent food! Service... meh. Humorless borderline pompous server. Way too loud. Painfully so. Windows and doors wide open, letting in all the toxic AQI air and extreme noise from the street. Perfume! The crowd seemed to bathe in it, and I know that can't be helped... but the waitstaff should NOT under any circumstances wear cologne or perfume or lotions that have a potent scent. If they do, they should be sent home. I could barely smell the food or wine over the intense cologne on one of the servers. All of this is a shame, as the food was truly outstanding.

A neighborhood gem with a warm vibe that is tavern-casual yet “special.” My husband and his sister enjoyed their perfectly prepared burgers (one Med rare, the other Med well; excellent fries on the side) while my BIL and I each had the superb calimari and garbanzo appetizer as an entree —spicy and full of tender loops and tendrils. The dessert choice wasn’t easy; they’re all house-made. Settled on the blueberry hand pies with lemon/coconut ice cream. Amazing! Server was very attentive & personable.

First time here and will definitely return. Fantastic sandwiches. Never had we had such simple sandwiches prepared so uniquely. The chef clearly puts his love of cooking into each dish. A fried rock cod for my wife and a porchetta sandwich for me. We skipped dinner we were so full. Service was great. A little noisy in the back areas but we were seated in the front so not a problem for us. Nice job team Wood tavern

I live in Sacramento and I first went to Wood Tavern over 10 years ago. I didn’t know where to dine yesterday but I knew I wanted hot pastrami sandwich for lunch. Reviews were great for the sandwich. Everyone at our table (4) ordered the pastrami and loved it! Our server was excellent—tall man with a beard. Offered me a cup size of the soup instead of the bowl since it had dairy and I’m dairy intolerant and wanted to try the soup—potato and leek. I’m looking forward to a return trip.

Great food here. Lunch was excellent. Charcuterie plate was well worth the price with house made pate, rillette, and terrine. Sandwich with house made pastrami on Acme bread with a tasty slaw and fresh pickled cucumber. Well curated wine list. Highly recommended.

Had dinner here as a combo birthday and Father's Day celebration. Everyone from the person who greeted us to our wait person to the people bussing the table were accommodating and helpful and kind. The food was amazing. We started with the pork belly which was cooked with the perfect crispiness. I had the burger and it came paired with the most gigantic pile of fries I have ever seen on one plate. And the burger was delicious. The hubby had the roast chicken which he couldn't finish and insisted on packing to take home. He very rarely wants to revisit a restaurant and he really wants to go back to Wood Tavern so they'll definitely see us again!

Food is consistently great here! Unfortunately our wait service was exceptionally terrible. Our waiter forgot our drinks, and the table next to ours; repeatedly came back and asked if we were doing ok, but walked away after we told him we were ready to place our orders; and dropped off our bottle of wine at the table without opening it (after another 10 min of waiting). We waited 25 min at the table until we we were able to place our order and had the wine opened.
