Waitress wasn’t the most organized or professional. Needs attention, please. She dropped a bunch of stuff and was slow on checking us out. When we sat down first thing she said was that table was booked in 90 mins and we felt rushed as a result, skipped deserts, but then couldn’t find her to pay. Had to chase down a different waiter for that. Food was terrific, but would probably not recommend this spot to others based on really very poor quality of service.

We have eaten at Woodlot several times now, and we have always come away happy and well sated. What a genuine treat it is to find a restaurant where vegetarians do not have to settle for making a meal out of a few appetizers and side dishes. At Woodlot, there is an entire vegetarian menu as well as a meat eater's menu, and the vegetarian dishes have obviously been given as much thought and careful attention as any of the meat selections. Hooray for that! At this visit, I had the Grilled Endive and Celeriac Salad (which was a delicious and warming winter salad) followed by the Wood-Fired Root Vegetable Tart Tatin (which was just insanely flavourful and so, so good). I very much like the relaxed pace of this restaurant where everything gets cooked to order, and no one hustles and hurries you through your meal to make room for a second seating. We arrived at 7:30, and it was clear that the table was ours for the night. How nice it was to be in a restaurant where we felt welcome to linger and chat for as long as we liked before, during and after our meal. Everything about this place is gracious, unpretentious and comfortable. The service is friendly, there is a really interesting list of cocktails, beers and wines, and the food is satisfying and beautiful. It was definitely worth coming out in a February snowstorm for this lovely experience!

My boyfriend and I celebrated his birthday at Woodlot and everything was perfect. The ambience, the food, our server — so glad we finally were able to check out this restaurant! The orecchiette was my favourite dish but everything we had was amazing. I would definitely recommend!

It was my birthday celebration with siblings. We ordered a wide range of menu items, both vegetarian and meat, and shared. Appreciated that the dishes all arrived at once. Loved the sourdough bread! Desserts were amazing, especially the pumpkin parfait!!! Ambiance was quiet and darkish (warm), lit with candles - maybe a little too dark as we had to use cellphone light to read menu and would have liked to see our food in more light - just a little more light. Service was excellent. Will definitely return!

Staff were just the right amount of attentive! The noise level was well-adjusted for myself and my partner: there was background music, but it was *background*, low enough to allow comfortable conversation. Lastly, the sourdough tagliatelle was amazing.

Thanks for the lovely dinner at your restaurant. The service was friendly and decent. The location is cozy and very romantic. Especially the open kitchen makes it more exciting. The food was excellent, eventhough it was way too little food.

Lovely place with excellent food. Service is cordial but a little cool. One of those places that can feel like you're bothering the staff if you ask for something. Overall, very nice if not a bit over-rated, as so many Toronto hip spots can be.

Everything was delicious, although I found the butternut squash pasta to be a bit under seasoned and the pasta itself was too thick. Great wine and cocktails. The plum tart was one of the most memorable desserts I’ve ever had! My only real complaint is that it was way too dark! I have 20/20 vision and had to use the candle to read my menu. Other people at my table even found the candlelight insufficient and had to use their cellphones. Turn up the lights a bit!

We were an eclectic group with meat eaters, a vegetarian, pasta lovers, etc. Everyone found something on the menu to please their taste and we were all very pleased with our choices. For the seafood lovers, the bouillabaisse was a great choice. Don't miss the cocktails - we had three different ones and each was well prepared and beautifully presented. Nice wine list as well. Service was efficient, professional and friendly. The place has a great atmosphere and although the chatter level is moderate to high at times, it did not interfere excessively with being able to carry on a spirited conversation. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely food as usual but the very small portion size for the relative price continues to be a deterrent to coming more often. In fact this time we had to feed our out of town guests a few snacks at home afterwards as every one was still hungry. Wonderful atmosphere but this time the staff all seemed pretty disinterested in us (restaurant was only 50% full)...had to ask for the appropriate utensil, only one brief stop at our table, and was ignored at the front door for a weirdly prolonged period as the hostess did something on the computer. No smiles from any staff....just a downer night I guess.

The place seem clean and very cozy, people were friendly. However, what I was looking for which was a wow factor (food) was a total fail. My wife was not happy with the taste or the fact that pasta was undercooked! It was a but disappointing since I really thought that I had finally found a new place I can recommend to all my friends since they all asked about my experience. Also, prices are too expensive for the sizes of servings and the choices are too little.

Really excellent seasonal menu with well curated vegetarian and vegan options (including dessert that isn't just sorbet!). The wine and beverage offerings are also great with a focus on "natural" wines.

We had a lovely night at Woodlot for our tenth anniversary. We were after an excellent and low-key night, and the wonderful team at the restaurant delivered precisely what we were looking for. The onion soup was fantastic, as were the pork chop and chicken/ham hock pot pie we ordered. Lots of great bottles to choose from on the wine list as well. We’ll definitely be back.
Only one negative and people should be aware before they dine in order to dress appropriately as it’s easily mitigated if you know about it... it was really warm in the restaurant due to the wood oven they have. If you take that into consideration you’ll love it.

From the day Woodlot opened it has been one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. I tend to go for early dinners and that means I can often get a table with a short notice reservation. The patio in summer is excellent people-watching. The food is always 100%. The staff are highly engaged in the ins and outs of the restaurant adding to the first rate service and feeling that you are somewhere where everyone really cares about food and dining. Can't say enough good things about Woodlot.

This is my third visit to Woodlot, and it was even better this time. The warm ambiance is unmatched in the city. Our server was attentive and made us feel special. Great signature cocktails and excellent food. I absolutely love the whole design of this place with the huge wood oven that the dining area overlooks. And my favourite thing I haven’t seen anywhere else is that there is an entirely separate vegetarian menu they give vegetarians. Not just a few choices on a single meat-focused menu. Hurray for everything that makes Woodlot so special!!

We were visiting Toronto and after reading the reviews we decided to try Woodlot. Overall it was good, they had inventive dishes, had plenty of vegetarian options and the service was great. I have to say as far as value goes I wasn't impressed, the food was good but portions were rather small and not the culinary experience I was looking forward to. For the price we will probably try something else next time we visit the wonderful city of Toronto.

I've eaten here before a number of years ago and loved it then and I loved it again. The first thing that strikes you is the smell of the restaurant when you enter. A mix of good cooking and wood stove. It makes you want to tuck in and enjoy a cozy delicious meal. My friend had the pork which was gorgeous and she ate every bite right down to the wood platter! I had the Rye, little ear pasta with Ragu. Delicious. Interesting cocktails and wines by the glass which I asked the server to choose for me. Our server was excellent, attentive and we had a lovely chat as we were preparing to leave. I'll go again.

Great restaurant - we are from Northern Ontario and walking into Woodlot transported us back to the north with its wood, rustic interior; the smell of firewood and cozy atmosphere. The service was very good ( Edward is amazing) and the food was an explosion of flavours in your mouth. Although the menu is limited, you know immediately (when eating) that the meals are made with natural ingredients and you don't feel stuffed and tired after eating- its obvious there's no preservatives in their food.
The only compliant we would have ( and only because we are all guilty of over eating!) is the portions were a little small for the price.
Will definitely go back - this is a neighbourhood gem.
Must try the smoked onion soup - the best I've ever tasted.
