Had a lovely dinner - shared everything. Caveletti particularly yum. Nice quiet sound level so you can actually speak to each other. Wines pretty pricey but everything tasty .

A funky place with an intimate, casual atmosphere - who doesn't want to have dinner in a shipping container. The food was great - unique dishes that were very flavourful! The service was welcoming and not overbearing. A great experience!

Horrible and slow service. The waiter did not communicate with us except to take the order. Our glasses were empty for quite a long time and the waiter brought food but dropped the plates and left quickly without asking if we needed anything for both the apps and entre. We were missing a fork after the apps and we had to take on from another empty table as we could not get the waiters attention to bring one over. We had to flag the waiter down to order a drink. There was no checking in to see how the food was. It took just under two hours for us to receive our entre. When ordering a bottle of wine i asked for a full bodied wine and the bottle that was recommended was lighter than what i would have considered full bodied. I looked up the wine after the fact and found it on a couple of sites that i trust and it was classified as medium bodied. The food was ok but the slow and poor service distracted from the food. After dinner service I went to the washroom and saw a large hard shelled bug in the washroom.

It was such a good decision to go during the week, as it was super quite and not too busy. The Hen of the woods + wild rice starter and steak were beyond amazing!

The food at Woodlot never disappoints. The portions seem to have increased in size lately but the quality has not suffered. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed but the noise levels can be a bit loud when all the tables are full. It still remains my favourite neighbourhood restaurant.

Salt, waaaay too much! Totally compromised the dishes we ordered. If it wasn't a Bday dinner with my gf I would have sent it back and complained, but didn't want to spoil the evening that way.

Absolutely would return to Woodlot. The food was amazing, and the service was very attentive. I made a special birthday request pertaining to dessert when I booked via OpenTable, and Woodlot accommodated me without question and without a hitch when we were at dinner. It takes a little bit to adjust to the dim lighting when reading the menu, but I wish they had better soft light overhead as well so it'd be easier to see the delicious and beautifully plated food they serve us! I also ordered one of their Game of Thrones cocktails, Daenerys's Hot Bath, and it was so tasty, warming, and actually SMELLED like a bath. So fun, creative, AND yummy. Very cozy, romantic, and intimate restaurant with friendly and efficient service. Perfect for a date.

Woodlot is small and very dimly lit. Two of us ordered the steak and one the pasta. When I asked if the server if the salad appetizer was large enough to share he said yes. The bread arrived and it was delicious then the small salad was presented and was barely enough for one but tasty.
My steak (bavette cut) which was ordered medium was inedible. It was so tough and sinewy that I could not swallow a bite. The server did apologize and did not charge us for it. The pasta was dry and salty. I left hungry and ended up getting a bite to eat down the street.

Everything was quite good, but not outstanding.

Cost performance was a little low, but given how everything is made from scratch it’s understandable.

The word here is rustic. Very unpretentious, which is mostly good. Personally I like a bit more polish for the money, but your mileage may vary.

The cocktail I had was underwhelming though. I would hesitate to order from their list of signature cocktails if I visited again.

I might prefer this place for lunch, which is what I will try if I decide to give it another go.

Waitress wasn’t the most organized or professional. Needs attention, please. She dropped a bunch of stuff and was slow on checking us out. When we sat down first thing she said was that table was booked in 90 mins and we felt rushed as a result, skipped deserts, but then couldn’t find her to pay. Had to chase down a different waiter for that. Food was terrific, but would probably not recommend this spot to others based on really very poor quality of service.

We have eaten at Woodlot several times now, and we have always come away happy and well sated. What a genuine treat it is to find a restaurant where vegetarians do not have to settle for making a meal out of a few appetizers and side dishes. At Woodlot, there is an entire vegetarian menu as well as a meat eater's menu, and the vegetarian dishes have obviously been given as much thought and careful attention as any of the meat selections. Hooray for that! At this visit, I had the Grilled Endive and Celeriac Salad (which was a delicious and warming winter salad) followed by the Wood-Fired Root Vegetable Tart Tatin (which was just insanely flavourful and so, so good). I very much like the relaxed pace of this restaurant where everything gets cooked to order, and no one hustles and hurries you through your meal to make room for a second seating. We arrived at 7:30, and it was clear that the table was ours for the night. How nice it was to be in a restaurant where we felt welcome to linger and chat for as long as we liked before, during and after our meal. Everything about this place is gracious, unpretentious and comfortable. The service is friendly, there is a really interesting list of cocktails, beers and wines, and the food is satisfying and beautiful. It was definitely worth coming out in a February snowstorm for this lovely experience!

It was my birthday celebration with siblings. We ordered a wide range of menu items, both vegetarian and meat, and shared. Appreciated that the dishes all arrived at once. Loved the sourdough bread! Desserts were amazing, especially the pumpkin parfait!!! Ambiance was quiet and darkish (warm), lit with candles - maybe a little too dark as we had to use cellphone light to read menu and would have liked to see our food in more light - just a little more light. Service was excellent. Will definitely return!

Staff were just the right amount of attentive! The noise level was well-adjusted for myself and my partner: there was background music, but it was *background*, low enough to allow comfortable conversation. Lastly, the sourdough tagliatelle was amazing.
