Amazing food and service. Game meat and a seasonal menu were fantastic. For the price it was definitely worth it. Wine list was a little on the pricey side but overall the service and everything was perfect.
I went to this restaurant with my family while they were on vacation in Toronto and we absolutely loved it! Great food, great service, great decor, we loved it so much that we had to go back for dinner the night before my family returned home. Their watermelon salad and roasted corn ravioli is to die for! If you drive there is a parking lot right in front of the restaurant
The food is excellent and the level of service is top notch.
The service was disorganized and food was average.
What a wonderful restaurant. Our food was superb and the service fantastic. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice evening out with a partner or friends.
Duck was impeccable. I love that this restaurant adds little chef treats in between your orders
The food was excellent. Homemade ravioli was a highlight; very, very well done. It was nice to have a amuse bouche - nice touch. We were a little let down on the sustainability of the food sources but were able to order around that. Service was good. Venue is cute on a side street; romantic.
Second time in a month and another memorable dinner. Thank you!
Service was fantastic! Loved the atmosphere and the whole vibe of the restaurant. Menu was very original and it was difficult to make a choice because everything looked good. Our waiter was so personable and knowledgeable. We will definately make sure to go again next time we are in Toronto.
Best restaurant I've been to! Pricey but definitely worth it for the unbelievable flavour combinations, tasty beverages and amazing service!
Firstly - difficult access as I have mobility issues.
The waiters were polite but the food didn’t live up to the previous reviews we had read.
The speciality bread was bland - 2 thin slices of cold bread.
The amuse bouche - very tasty
The first courses
- elk tartare - tasty
- fois gras - arrived as a seared whole liver - not what I expected ! but my husband found it tasty
- chicken cordon bleue - only lukewarm so not as delicious as it could have been
- duck - arrived hardly cooked - far more rare the ‘pink’ - it was returned to the kitchen but came back with hardly any improvement as is was just off cold
- crispy kale side dish - also just off cold!!
The waiter was very apologetic- offered extra wine & complementary desert + no charge for the dishes we couldn’t eat.
However overall a very disappointing meal in a well recommended restaurant - such a shame
Fantastic food! We even had a few complimentary extras, which were also delicious! Highly recommended.
The service we received was impeccable and the timing of drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert was excellent. The drinks were well-made and tasty. The food was perfectly cooked and fresh, with inventive ingredients and preparation. Delicious and good value.
salad portions were generous and reported to be very fresh and tasty. My duck was perfectly cooked and the bernaise was smooth and not overwhelming. asparagus side dish was nicely cooked. plain. The steak, yellowfin and halibut were all said to be cooked and seasoned well and the steak was as ordered. The frites side dish was actually simple potato wedges and rather underwhelming. Overall, we all enjoyed our dinners, and each was not only delicious, each was atteactively plated. desserts were lively to look at and very nice. small portions, but so rich and full of flavour, any more would have been too much. Our waiter was friendly, had a sense of humour and very helpful- great service. Said the place was a little.slow.in summer as they didnt have a patio, but we were happy to get out of the heat and humidity.
Worth a trip if you are already in the neighborhood. Nice eclectic atmosphere and good service.
Menu is small as is wine by the glass. Food is good though.
Restaurant recorded me as a no show. Corrected with help from OpenTable but first time this has happened.
Great food, perfectly cooked, nice atmosphere and welcoming staff. Wines reasonably priced. Would definitely return
Woods was outstanding. All of us enjoyed our food. The door looks like you are entering an abandoned warehouse, but the space inside is inviting. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The portion size is appropriate. And the restaurant is just a half a block away from the unique dog fountain... definitely worth seeing if you like dogs!
This was my second business lunch at Woods. On both occasions, the food and service have been very good. The restaurant is not too busy at lunch time, so it makes for a great spot with enough room between tables to have private conversations. The background music was just slightly louder than I would have liked when I first arrived as I could not hear the person beside me very well, but it seemed to have been turned down shortly after our arrival before we had to request the volume being lowered. I would I would definitely return again.
Excellent food and great service. Will definitely return.
Overall experience was excellent. We had the Fois Gras and Steak Tartar for appetizer. Both were delicious. My wife chose the bison short ribs. She was a little hesitant wondering if the meat would be gamey but the waiter assured her it would not be. It turned out to be amazing. She would order it again. I went with the steak. Yes, both appetizer and dinner was "steak". I was going to order the cod but I was glad I ordered the steak. It was excellent. We live around the corner from Woods (over 3 years) but never tried it until Friday. We should have tried it long time ago! We will definitely return.
The ambiance is mellow and peaceful. The service was excellent. The Ontario wines were fun and quite good. The bread was delicious. But the food, although fresh and cooked to the correct fineness was all incredibly bland.
We were 4 ladies here for a milestone birthday celebration. They started us off wonderfully with a glass of prosecco on the house. Great service, food and ambiance. Wasn’t loud, but also wasn’t awkwardly quiet. We also love vodka so naturally we went to the vodka bar next door affiliated with the restaurant. We had a fabulous time overall.
I was on business and found "Woods" on line ! Delish food !!! Service was fast and friendly !
Robin the owner welcomed us at the front door ! He is friendly and classy !
He asked what are we doing after dinner....and invited to take us to the Pravda Vodka House which is next door ......
We had a terrific fun time !!! Leaving Toronto with fantastic memories !!
Thank you Robin and your team for taking such good care of us !
Best of success as you continue to press forward !!
Beautiful space and delicious food. Our server was one of the best! It was our first visit. I am sorry we waited so long. Everything was exceptional from the moment we walked In. The chef makes everything right down to the ketchup! And reasonable prices for first rate food and cocktail.
Flawless service, delightful decor and delicious food.
The food was spectacular and offered some unique options as well as more traditional options with some interesting twists. The service was great as one would expect with a restaurant of this nature.
We had an incredible experience at Woods! We went for our anniversary and I cannot tell you how wonderful and accommodating the restaurant was! Comped us many things very surprisingly and our server Michael was just outstanding! the food was incredible!! lovely evening!!
Service and food was outstanding!
Went here for a late dinner for 4. Food and service were fabulous! Love the ambiance. Ordered 2 desserts and they gave us their famous donuts for free...so nice of them! “Wood” go back again ;P
The main problem we had was that the restaurant was unbelievably loud. They sat a large and very loud party a few feet from us, with the result that the ambiance became that of a sports bar rather than refined dining. As a result we couldn't actually talk at our table. The staff tried to make up for it by bringing extra food, but as I have dietary restrictions, none of the additional food was anything I could eat (the restaurant was aware of my dietary issues). As a result this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have had in years.
The dinner at Woods was very pleasant. For a Toronto restaurant it is reasonably quiet. The menu is interesting and did not disappoint. The tuna tartar lacked tuna, but when we mentioned this to the server, he bent over backwards to make up for the problem. The service was exceptional. I would return to Woods.
I was in Toronto and some plans fell through so I was left on my own for dinner. I searched the neighborhood I was in on OpenTable and checked out some of the better ranked restaurants. Woods caught my eye with its regional fare.
The food was really excellent -- wonderful preparation and presentation. Moreover, the staff was very good and made the sometimes awkward dinner-for-one into a really special meal. The restaurant also had a relaxed vibe that I appreciated.
Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back.
Service and ambience were fantastic but the food could have been a bit more exciting. Nothing wrong with it, just didn't knock my socks off
Went to Woods to celebrate a birthday. Wait staff were most attentive, never an empty wine glass or plate left on the table. Food was phenomenal! I had the tuna tartare, followed by the Muscovy duck. Both dishes were outstanding. My husband had the bison short ribs. Fall off the bone with tons of flavour. Will definitely return!
Our service was topnotch ! food was amazing and the restaurant is very cool with the Woods theme . Definitely recommend this restaurant.
Absolute gem. Immaculate service, delicious food, pleasant ambiance. Will definitely come back. One of the best restaurants experienced and we go out regularly.
First and foremost, Wood’s was delicious. My team went there for a business dinner. The food was everything it’s advertised to be: locally sourced, inventive, and delicious. Be sure to check out the carpaccio!
Unfortunately, there were some challenges in the service department. The table next to us arrived about ten minutes after we did—and got their drinks about twenty minutes before us. Given that the kitchen was firing on time, I’m going to chalk this one up to a new bartender. Great food, but be prepared to wait for it.
Impeccable service and food. Great ambiance. Highly recommend.
When we arrived for our 6:30 reservation, there were two other parties at their tables. Despite this, our appetizers took a long time ~20 minutes) to come out. We had also noticed that tables who were seated after us received their food before us. Possibly the kitchen’s fault, but still influenced this review.
Our server apologized for the delay with our food and said he’d check on us frequently, but didn’t. He was at the tables on either side of us and never even looked at us. Perhaps they were understaffed that night, but he made a point of telling us he’d be attentive so our expectations were unduly higher.
The food was pretty good, but didn’t cancel out the poor service.
