We have previously dined at Wood’s but found this visit disappointing. The reservation was early so not busy. The gentleman seating people had his mask under his nose quite often. The food was uninspired with little taste. The beet salad was average and the scallop appetizer had a very small amount of scallops considering the price. The pumpkin ravioli was undercooked and bland and the chicken cordon blue was a very small portion and also bland. Service was fine. Overall a disappointing experience.
Food was excellent and service from our waiter was also excellent. Unfortunately the Matre D was not wearing his mask properly at all during the night, consistently in close contact with guests (speaking, serving food, coat check, showing guests to the table) with his mask below his chin. Completely unprofessional and unsafe.
Great atmosphere, very good food and plating. Will come back.
Service was slow and then frantic with multiple wait staff descending on our table at once. Food was bland. Scallop app only included 1 small scallop with civiche… The restaurant itself is beautiful… such a shame.
Derek was absolutely amazing as a waiter. Food was delicious. Takes a bit of time for it to arrive as everything is done to order and made from scratch, but extremely delicious. Restaurant itself seems very busy and a lot of people doing a lot of jobs, so you’re kinda left to your own devices for some time, but everyone is attentive to your needs. Extremely good food.
Need to improve on service time. Can understand that food might take some time and certainly some people prefer that. However, unacceptable that first order for drinks took almost 30 mins.... And second order about 15 mins... For beer and soft drink...
As always, the food ambiance and service were excellent!
The food was incredible and served promptly even though it was a busy night. The have an excellent wine list too.
Greta good and ambiance. Everything met my expectations!
Great food and even better service. Derek was an exceptional server.
Excellent food (got the steak) and the ambience is great! Perfect place to take out of towners/guests
The elk ragu was the best dish next to the scallops * single scallop *. The seared elk was unfortunately quite tough. The seared tuna was not tender. Croquettes along with it were spicy and tasty. Dessert was nothing to rave about with cold dry donuts and a chocolate mousse that they call a s’more. Sadly underwhelming. Nice atmosphere. Derek was friendly, but slow service.
I had to put 1 because we did not even get to dine there. on our honeymoon, we were happy to have found a spot for a saturday evening quite late , at 9:30pm. when we arrived, the restaurant was packed and very noisy. upon telling the first staff member that we had a reservation, he blantly said 'no you'll have to come back another day we are full'. We then repeated that we had a reservation and showed our phone to him and he just said 'thats not possoble, wait a sec'. he fetched a second staff member who then as nonchanlantly told us that they had an event that was booked months in advance. he then proceeded to blame us for booking with opentable, telling us that they have a monopoly and gesticulating towards the screen telling us that they had a technical problem. i was furious as this really gave a sour taste to the evening, even more so since absolutely no welcome, no warm words, no apology and no solution was offered. would def not recommend and go back.
I was so excited to come to this restaurant and it was good, but my pasta was cold, and the portions were really small. Our table wasn't ready, and we had to ask to be seated well after the 'few mins' they told us we would have to wait. Our waiter was kind, knowledgeable and very energetic, but could have worked on his timing. These few details are what's keeping me from giving this restaurant an outstanding. I think it could get there.
Only suggestion - food could be warmer at time of serving.
Otherwise, tremendous presentation, flavours and uniqueness.
We would return!
One of the best restaurants in Toronto with amazing food, service & ambiance!
The food and service were excellent. I quite enjoyed my time at Woods. The appetizers were a tad pricy, but not out of range of what one might reasonably expect at such a classy venue.
The ambiance, service and food was excellent. Owner and staff were incredible. We love this place!
My husband and I dined here recently and our experience was by far top notch!!
The service was incredibly attentive and the food was unbelievably well thought out, beautiful to the eye and delicious!
We would go back in a heartbeat
Incredible food, service and ambiance!
Disappointed by the lack of gluten-free options (ZERO) for dessert.
The atmosphere was great, our servers were very attentive , food was delicious and presentation was fantastic.
Great evening. Interesting food, fun, attentive service. Accommodating of special needs.
Would come again
Great attentive service. Food was first rate. Great evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal with delicious and interesting local foods that were paired perfectly. Even down to the complimentary wines with our starters. A great way to get back to 'normal' Everything was delicious! We almost felt we were the only people in the restaurant (we weren't) as the service was on point.
Dinner with my best friend was superb! The service was impeccable - making us feel very welcomed and attended; the cocktail menu was inventive; the wine list adequate; and the food - outstanding! My meal began with a lovely beet salad, followed by an exquisite Rack of Wild Boar after which I left but a bare bone on the plate! BF had the Pumpkin Ravioli, which she loved. Dessert was unlike anything we'd ever had - like eating a delicious cloud! This was our first visit and was recommended by the folks at Le Germain Hotel Maple Leaf Square. I'm so glad they did, Woods is now on my list of must-go's whenever I'm in Toronto! I suggest you put it on yours.
So delicious. Menu and service were impeccable. So many things We wanted to try on the menu, so we will definitely go back!
Attended Woods Restaurant for a friends birthday celebration. There were 6 of us.
From the moment we walked in we were treated with kindness and were provided amazing service. Our waiter was fantastic! Suggested plates and drinks to try (which were all outstanding)
Highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Considerate, energetic, and in general a joy to be served by the staff. Not to mention eating some of the most amazing drinks from the bar and food coming out of the kitchen I've had in a good while.
Excellent restaurant for "adventurous" diners. Lovely decor and ambience.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Wood's. Derek gave us exceptional service and the prices were reasonable for the selection and quality of product.
I had the Rack of Bison and found it slightly over-seasoned but well prepared other than that. My wife had the elk and thought it was slightly dry but the smokiness was good. So minor concerns but I'd still recommend it for a special dinner.
Great food with locally sourced ingredients. Good service.
A woman was yelling in the restaurant and the waiters did nothing. She was way over served
Our waiter was outstanding! Frankly that’s the only reason why I left any tip at all. We had a 9pm reservation and didn’t get seated until 9:30pm. Our order was taken at nearly 10pm. Waiting was not the annoying part…chasing for updates was annoying and the manager was very rude and aloof about the situation.
Way too noisy
Was looking forward to dinner last night. Well, service fell apart very quickly. The table seated after us was served before us. Our appetizers came to us about an hour or more after we ordered. Appetizers were to mixed reviews. Tartar was warm, the foie gras was more room temperature, the ceviche wasn’t as cold as it should be. Main courses arrived to mixed reviews as well. The duck was okay. The wild boar was definitely the winner. We were baffled as to why we were served bottled water while other tables we served from their jugs. We didn’t ask for bottled water. We didn’t order dessert as we were asked at almost 10pm if we wanted any (we were seated at about 7:15pm).
Social distancing with tables wasn’t a thing either. The restaurant was jammed. When asked if they were short staffed, the said there were only 3 cooks and 4 people serving/working the bar and that people without reservations kept showing up. Well- they probably should have turned some of those people away. It was also very noisy with all the tables.
Will we be back? Nope.
Good food and wines. Service is excellent. Would definitely recommend.
Fabulous meal in lovely ambience
Staff was friendly, but perhaps short staffed in the kitchen. The food and drinks took a while, but understandable during Covid times.
All food and drinks were outstanding.
