Love Woodwork! Their food is fresh and yummy and I adore their cocktail menu. Woodwork is great for a date night or business dinner.
Great ambiance and vibe. Our waitress was fantastic. The cocktails were great! Food was bad. My pasta was inedible and my husband’s steak was so tough and not cooked correctly.
Our food eas very good....ordered some mains and some small plates....enjoyed everything. Especially the lamb belly! Server asked about our plans, and made sure we were able to get to the Citadel on time, which was nice. Had been before and would definitely go again.
My family and I had to wait an hour before we were served. We repeatedly tried asking for a server, and the server assigned to us even made eye contact but refused to attend to us until two large parties had paid their bill. After waiting almost another hour for our food, it arrived cold. Truly unfortunate considering how expensive the meal was. Will not be coming here again.
Nice, warm, comfortable atmosphere.
Everything was perfect, service was on point with a full house, cocktails were delicious, food was fresh, tasty, and beautifully plated. Thanks!
I brought my relatives out of town to Woodworks because the restaurant has a scotch wall, excellent food and a great scene. Woodwork is always one of my favorite locations to bring new people to and to partake in a delicious evening out with scotch, food and service.
Went to woodwork with reservation for our anniversary,
Cocktails were delicious and overpriced but 28 dollars is what you pay for a whiskey sour and a clover club downtown. So white flag on that one. The food was awful letdown.
We ordered 3 small plates; kannec fries 9, crispy lamb belly 12, bone marrow toast 16 and 2 steaks; steak and fries med 35 and butchers cut waygu rare 45.
Kannec fries was just fries with some parm on top. Not tossed, not baked w some herbs, just some parm on top and salty salty fries for 9 bucks.
Lamb belly was delicious and came with some nice greens but also really salty.
Bone marrow toast was drowned in vinegar which ruined the whole reason for ordering marrow. Maybe a little drizz would have been nice, but those hawks were swimming in ger. Pickled roast bones. We went on halloween but we didnt come dressed as trolls. Ya know. I dont want pickled bones. Fella ate most of it.
My steak and frits sported the same greens the lamb belly came with which made me sad... When I go to places like three boars or rng rd or sabor( restaurants in same price range and similar area) I get a variety of greens with my dishes and maybe I took it for granted that woodwork also knows what they are doing. The steak was well done and tasted like salt flavored beef and came pre cut. They cut my steak for me....
Granted what ever salt the kitchen is using is high quality, they are using way way way way too much of it on everything. Even the greens were inedible. I had to send my steak back because it was too salty and was over done and just a heart break after sub par dishes. The fella's waygu butchers cut was also pre cut and too salty, but there was a bit of honey in the mashed pottats that cut through some of the salt. It was hard to fork over close to 150 something w tip for a anniversary meal that sucked so much. I'm glad my man eats. He wasnt happy with the meal either but he didnt leave hungry.
We came in Saturday night for our 7 year anniversary. The cocktails were fantastic, oysters to start and then we shared the 60 oz bone in cut. Absolutely delicious! We were then treated to a complimentary sticky toffee pudding which was also amazing. The service was great and the staff were extremely friendly. We had a lovely experience, we would definitely come back! Thank you !
Amazing food, beautiful setting. Looking forward to going back again soon!
Second time at Woodwork; first time I was wowed with the steak tartare and a very decent Old Fashioned. This time I was with 3 colleagues. The Old Fashioneds continued to excel; thank you very much for those, Woodwork. However, the "Large Plates" were rather sad: the steak frites drowned a decent (and cooked to order) piece of meat with blandly flabby bernaise and astonishingly salty greens. This happened to both orders. The fish and pasta dishes, which competent, lacked the spark that was there before. It all tasted as if someone was new to the kitchen and to cooking, and moving too fast.
All that being said, I'll go back. The bar is stocked and served with care and confidence, the steak tartare we shared this time was well up to scratch, and our other sad dishes may be a temporary phenomena. Plus, the ambiance of the whole place is first class.
Great atmosphere, great service, they went above and beyond to make me happy. Thank you.
Woodwork seems to have lost its way a little. The thing I remember most about my previous visits was the smell of wood smoke. You could taste it in the food. It was the signature of most of the dishes.
Now, it presents as a middle of the road gastropub with an uninspired selection of mains.
It’s too bad. Going here was always an event.
Not so much the case anymore.
Woodwork was a cute place but it lacked certain tools such as, a sharp knife for the charcuterie board. It was difficult to cut the hard cheese with a butter knife.
If you like a good Old Fashion, this is a must. They offer 15 different versions but their house is spot on. Delicious oysters and great mussel.
This is the perfect spot pre-theatre as you can park nearby and walk to the theatre.
buzzy, beautiful restaurant with a fantastic cocktail list. The mussels and sauce were delicious!
Great location, food, and drinks. Liked the recommendations from the staff on what to get. Was a bit loud as the evening went on but nothing that you wouldn't expect for a place like that. Would definitely come again!
Nice ambience, enjoyed talking to one of the staff about his experiences in Lisbon. Warm and friendly! All very enjoyable
Good cocktails. Mai Thai wasn’t quite Hawaiian tradition but they were tasty. Mussels from PEI were super tiny but sauce was yummy. Waited long for food to come. Overall food was good.
The steaks were cold and a little tough but they tasted good. The server mad it right by serving a couple of free deserts.
Awesome atmosphere, food and drinks. Would totally go again. Thx!
One word describes it all - AMAZING!! Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing cocktails.
I was running a bit late, so out of courtesy to the restaurant, I phoned saying I would be about 5-10 minutes late. I was told on the phone that that was fine, but that I only had the table until 7. My reservation was originally for 5PM, so I would assume that was still lots of time. The other person in my party was also late, and when she showed up at about 5:10 she was also told that we only have the table until 7. I arrived around 5:15, and as we were being seated, we were told, yet again, that we only had the table until 7. I think that was pretty clear to us at this point, but apparently we needed to be reminded again. We were a table of 2, by the way. Not a large group that took up a whole section of the restaurant. At this point, we really did not feel very welcome, and we sat down and ordered everything right away, since we the staff was clearly very concerned that we would be there too long. We had dinner, and I will say that the food and drinks were absolutely phenomenal. We decided not to have dessert and we got our bill as soon as we were done, so as not to inconvenience anyone any further. We were out by 6:30. I would say we had really great food and service as soon as we sat down, but the staff could use a little extra care when speaking with guests, and they could do a better job making people feel welcome.
The steak tartar was amazing! So many of the dishes we got were beyond expectations including also the chicketta, mushroom pasta, lamb belly. Would definitely be back
Our food was mostly great as was our experience. We questioned how many of the mussels were empty but were dismissed. Asked for help on size of charcuterie board but were not given any helpful info. Cocktails were delish but getting assistance with them was painful. Our server was quite condescending which perhaps was disguising a lack of knowledge. And it’s pretty loud; don’t go with more than four people. All that being said, I do think it’s a little gem in our city and hopefully they will work on their weak areas.
Thank you to the whole Woodwork team for making my birthday celebration a nice one. Special thanks to Nick and Dylan in the kitchen for going the extra mile <3
This was my first experience at Woodwork, but, it will not be the last. The service was excellent, and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu items.
Another one! Bangin’ new menu, crispy lamb belly, devil salad, fried green tomato w lobster, mussels, service, vibes, everything off the chain. Will be back again soon.
Workwork is always a great choice. The menu changes seasonally and it’s always delicious. I’ve never been disappointed.
When i travel to Edmonton its one of my favorite places
Made our reservation online and expressed in ‘special requests’ that this was our wedding anniversary. We arrived and were seated at a small table sandwiched between other tables and patrons. We were looking forward to a romantic dinner, but being seated so close to other people made for zero privacy and conversation. Felt like we were apart of the other tables which took away from the romantic aspect. Upon arrival, we did ask for an alternative option for seating, which was quickly denied.
Service was fine, although, not exceptionally warm. Food was inconsistent- two dishes were fantastic, however the pasta was really bland and lacked flavour. We went to Woodwork for our previous anniversary and walked away more than happy - food was outstanding, along with the service and location we were seated. It was disheartening to walk away disappointed the second time round.
Hi Robin, Thanks for the review. I apologize that we weren't able to put you at a large table, but the restaurant was completely full at that time. I believe you did move to a more secluded table when it opened up, but as our dining room is one large open room, there aren't a lot of private spaces to begin with. We appreciate the feedback about the service and the food, and will pass it along. Thanks again, WW
Had a wonderful time at Woodwork. Great food made fresh. Wonderful cocktails and whiskey selection. Will be back!!
Thanks for the kind words Robert! - WW
It was my second time dining here. The food is pretty high quality and they add a unique flair. Some of the portions are decent, while others seem to be small for the price charged. I do wish their drinks selection had a few more “affordable” drinks as the cheapest bottle of red wine was $60 (and there was only one bottle at that price. They ranged quite high above that). I had returned more bc of their food than their drinks as I had been impressed by their food the first time. Again, the food was delicious! The mussels had a spicy thai taste and were delicious but for a big bowl of mussels in lots of sauce, please provide more than 2 slices of bread (literally 2 slices for 5 people.) I preferred my steak tartare on my first visit as it has changed but did not taste as good with the dill. (Upon my first visit, I described it to friends as the best tartare in Edmonton). May return for appies again in the future bc the food is good, but the few wine options (even by the glass) may deter me from doing so since many of our friends prefer wine over cocktails (but their cocktails menu is extensive if that is your thing!)
We've been going to Woodwork for years, as usual the food is fantastic. I do have an iss
Amazing ambiance and I loved the appetizer menu.
I was skeptical when I saw the menu and heard that they just got a new chef - the menu looked more traditional, which sometimes translates to unimaginative (especially with 'mushroom pasta' as the vegetarian plate choice). However, I was very happy to admit to have been wrong, completely so - the food was absolutely delicious, and, honestly, better than ever. And, it still has the best cocktails in the city!
Who knew that a “Bar” could serve such creative and delicious dishes! Totally worth a visit.
Very nice atmosphere, service wasn't up to par by our server. Food when it came was ice cold. Will think twice on returning
Unfortunately, WoodWork let us down. It was our first time there and we were excited. The drinks were great but both steaks were horrible. After an hour and 15 mins wait we finally got the steaks and they were suppose to be medium rare but my butchers cut was well done and the other steak was rare. The lady who helped us asked if we wanted anything else but we didn't want to try anything else or wait any longer. We ended up leaving and not eating the food but thankfully she didn't charge us for those meals. She did say she had a new kitchen team so perhaps we will try the place again at a later time.
We had an amazing pre Citadel dinner here. The menu is unique and interesting. The service and the food were outstanding. Great Edmonton experience.
