Excellent food, unique atmosphere. We will definitely return.
I always liked going to the Workshop and have had much better dining experiences in the past. The menu seems to be getting smaller and had limited appetizer and entree options. Would like to see the menu expanded and the price of the entrees reduced for me to come back or recommend it to friends.
Great Experience, creative food well executed, loved the lunch special mini menu. Loved the noise level, you can really talk to the people at your table. Big plus for me. Staff very friendly
The lunch was excellent. I always choose the fish option of the Lougheed lunch and this time it was pickerel - melt in your mouth wonderful with all the usual unique accompaniments. Everything was prepared to perfection - no overcooked veggies here!
We were very disappointed that the Braise feature for lunch was sold out when we arrived at 12:30, the restaurant is open until 2:00 for lunch.
A unique dining experience... I tried the 3 course option and was delighted with what was offered. The catered to my "nothing raw" request. The appies included a "scallop" benedict-so unexpected. The desert was fresh and not too heavy after a very generous main course portion.
The server was spot on with his level of attention-never intrusive.
The food was unbelievable and the service was fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant. It’s a lot of fun doing the tasting courses because the food is outstanding but most of all for the surprise compared to picking your usual foods.
Always delicious food, creative options. Not noisy so you can discuss business as needed.
Great place if you're attending an event at the Grand. The menu has good variety but it's on the pricier side for what you get.
Great inventive food with good service in an interesting setting.
We are a party of 3 for lunch, ordered 2 of the 3 course specials and one ordered a sliced sous vide chicken breast on ciabatta bread. Food/vegetables was plentiful for the 3 courses and prepared with care/attention to detail...good value for $25.
I have to mention our server Dave who offered ALL diners exceptional service---unobtrusive yet professional. He walks around to refill our water glasses and wipe tables/straighten chairs constantly unlike some fine dining restaurants that the waiters keep asking if u need more water or anything( so to remind u for more TIPS) Dave is like a "breath of fresh air' definitely an asset to the establishment.
Wonderful place for dinner. Quality of the food was very high. Had their "surprise" 3 course, every plate was very tasty and perfectly cooked.
First time there, definitely going back.
I had the Coriander BBQ chicken sandwich with fries as side and shared the fried cauliflower and Salad. Great taste and I would love to go back and try some other items on their menu.
Amazing food (GF Polenta Lasagna) and great service! Will be back for sure.
The food is decent but not very special for the price of the improv menu.
Restaurant is outstanding. Food is next level and clearly put together with quality and care. Menu offers lots of selection and the Lougheed lunch is outstanding value for the quality of food you receive.
Love the atmosphere.
An absolutely unbelievable evening! In the words of my wife, "of course the bread is house made!", "Would Kenny (the owner), settle for anything less than steamed milk with after dinner coffee instead of the regular creamer?", "Everything that we had tonight was totally unexpected!" Unique flavors, incredibly knowledgeable server, great ambience, a 10 minute conversation with the owner! 10 stars out of 5! We will definitely be back!!!
Food and service were amazing. Beautiful venue with rustic decor
Everything was great, but service and food were a bit slow. For getting a lunch special you wouldn't expect the entire meal to take almost 2 hours.
Spectacular experience to celebrate two 80th birthdays. Food and service were exceptional!
It was my second time there and I have been really satisfied both times. In fact - the only problem is I cannot decide which express to take - both have looked so good.
Food was excellent as always. We dined on Improv Monday and restaurant was very kind to modify their menu items for one of our party's allergies. Will come back here again soon.
Excellent service, food, customers service. A must place to visit.
Workshop Kitchen + Culture was an experience in dining. We decided to be blind to what our dinner would be. So, there was a daily 3 course selection that we did not know what the server would bring. All 3 courses were great! I would change the hazelnut brittle to toasted hazelnuts in the dessert. The brittle was too sticky and unnecessary for my tastes. I never would have selected the elk in the elk tartare but enjoyed it very much. I will try it in the near future as an entrée when available. Service by Bobby was Superior. All in all a great dinner. Also had the blind libation. 3 rums + 3 bitters, hats off to the mixologist. Certainly produced a pucker but who doesn’t enjoy a pucker now and then?
Perfect for a very enjoyable lunch with great tasting food, excellent and promp service and an atmosphere and noise level that was great for conversation. Not many places in downtown Calgary where you can hear your table mates and not feel like you are yelling to be heard. But more important, the food tasted amazing, there were very adequate portions and the price was very reasonable. I will be back!!!!
I was seated promptly, the waiter was very attentive throughout, and the food was excellent. (Try the Workshop Cubano)
We celebrated my birthday at the Workshop on Saturday evening of the August long weekend. You wouldn’t know this restaurant was there unless you knew it was there! I always like to try somewhere new and had done a bit of research beforehand. The food and service were excellent! Our waitress was experienced, knowledgeable and great fun! The food was delicious. I opted for the 3 course tasting menu along with the drinks pairing and I wasn’t disappointed! My family selected from the menu and were thrilled with their choices. It was great to see the chefs at work!
We would all recommend The Workshop and will definitely visit again!
We enjoyed our evening very much. The service was great and an element of adventure when choosing the 3 and or 5 course meal with pairings ( presented as improv). The menu was enjoyed by all.
My friend and I chose the 5 course tasting menu, with wine pairings, and it was wonderful. Delicious, imaginative and perfectly presented; we loved everything! Definitely recommended for a very special treat.
I had an extremely upset stomach shortly after eating st Workshop. The beef was succulent but a very peculiar spice and oil was prevalent which I didn’t enjoy. The noise level was so high that my luncheon guest and I couldn’t hear each other. The space is so small that when the sever was dealing with the table beside us, it was like his backside was sitting on our table.
We were vacationing in Calgary and found this place. Improv dining! Fun!
The food and service were fantastic as usual. We love coming here. You will not be disappointed.
Great food, service and space. Will come back. Had a nice dinner.
Lougheed Lunch is great value and soooo delicious!
Tucked away on First is a small restaurant with big ideas. The food was excellent, and there was a lot of it. Would love to see some smaller places so one person could try more of the appetizers. What I had was very good. The Salmon is excellent! Enjoyed my meal.
Really enjoyed the overall experience
Very cool setting
Nice romantic table
Friendly and knowledgeable staff
Great food and presentation
Glad we found it
Definitely a place to go when in Calgsry
Its been a while since I've had service this good. We shared the smoked lamb ribs (mild sweetness and tang, some were fall off the bone, others had a little bit of chew, would order again), the cod in coconut curry (mild flavours, not spicy, good-but will try the salmon next time), and the triple cooked potatoes (can see myself ordering these every time).
Phenomenal food, service and ambience. One of Calgary’s not so best kept secrets!
Fantastic food and service. 3 course tasting menu was the right move
Fantastic service. Excellent food. Funky ambience.
