The wine was overpriced, I felt. The food and service was outstanding.
We had an amazing experience for our wedding anniversary!! Bobby was an awesome server and the food was fantastic!! What we found even more exceptional was that the staff filled out a card for our anniversary; we would highly recommend friends, family, strangers ;) to visit for an incredible night out!
Unfortunately the kitchen was out of 3 of 6 of their main dishes including the two I’d been eying. So that was disappointing. The food we did get was creatively combined ingredients and delicious. Our waiter often didn’t stay at the table long enough for me to ask for what I wanted and wasn’t very personable. The wine wasn’t great but my cocktail was awesome. Great atmosphere. I’d try it again and hope they actually have everything on their menu.
My moms 70th birthday! Everything fabulous and they even had a card for her!!
Food was good. Maybe I should have been more adventurous I went with a sandwich. Lol
It was alright,
The most notable thing was the service. The Hostess was so nice, as was the server. Great bubbly fun personalities and made light conversation which seems to be often falling to the wayside these days. I’d definitely go back and try something more exciting off the menu
The 3-course chef's choice meal was so tasty & flavourful. My sister had the kale salad & quail entree. Everything was top notch!!
My duck breast entree is pictured.
Quick service on a lunch hour. Loved the menu options - the Lougheed Lunch is a great way to simplify the ordering process.
LOVE this place. Service is excellent. Food is so creative. They manage to make even food I normally dislike into something I can't eat enough of. Menu is always changing, and gets better with every visit. Also they are very accommodating (and not judgemental) about dietary requests. The daily braise at lunch is outstanding for us carnivores. Must try.
Fantastic food. You must order the gnocchi!
As usual food was fantastic we had the 5 course tasting menu and service was awesome best in calgary
As good as the food was, and it was delicious, the service provided by our server Jennifer was even better. We found the Workshop online & are glad we listened to the reviews. If you have a chance to check it out we definitely recommend it.
Such a good meal! We went on a little culinary adventure and tried the 3 course chefs choice menu. It was fantastic, every course. It changed regularly, so there isn’t too much point in telling you about it. I can mention that none of the items were on the menu. Wonderful service and great cocktails. A really lovely evening!
The quality and flavour of the food at The Workshop will simply blow you away. Everyone in our group commented on how amazing everything tasted. The décor is good and the floor space is somewhat open. Parking is really the only issue. A valet service might help to that end. Highly recommended.
Amazing experience! It’s pricy but we’d recommend the 3 or 5 course as a once in a lifetime experience! Loved, loved loved the wine pairings.
Nice and relaxed place with great food. The tasting menu was reasonably priced too.
great good, great ambiance, lady we had servicing us was outstanding, provided just enough interaction and information... only small comment was that it was a bit pricey.
A pleasant suprise! The afternoon ‘braise’ is a rotating cut of meat that is said to be fall off the bone. They aren’t exaggerating! Deconstructed fine dining at a reasonable cost. Will be back for future business lunches.
The daily lunch special is great and reasonably priced. We took a client here for lunch and it was the perfect setting. Great atmosphere and great food!
It was one of the toughest steaks I’ve had, potato was fine but did feel like it was prepared the day before.
Great service, great food.
Cocktails were outstanding as well
Food is awesome. Usually service is excellent but this last time, it took a really long time to get served. When we finished with one dish the waitress simply took the serving utensils from that dish and placed it in a new dish. Not a classy move. This was a one off as usually the service matches the great food.
The food was great but the service was outstanding!
This meal was probably the best I’ve had, for sure in a very long time.
Make sure to try the improv menu, takes all the pressure off, and the chef really does know best anyways.
A friend and I decided to try WORKSHOP one night as we had heard some good things about the food. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu. The menu provides for an array of foods from the menu. We tried a smoked oyster, lamb, beef dish and finishing off with a unique take on grilled cheese and brûlée. The food presentation was great and the food was unique and tasty. My friend had the wine pairing with her food and she noted that the wines were ones she would never have thought of but were perfect for each dish. We left very full and satisfied. I will be back to try the other items in their menu.
Had a nice table for date night, cozy and quiet.
Food was great!
Was my first time at Workshop and had an amazing experience! They had a special table reserved for us when we arrived, as I had included in the reservation that it was for a birthday. The staff was friendly and personable from our host to our server, and the food was absolutely divine - the brussel sprouts tasted like candy. They also gave my sister a birthday card at the end signed by all the staff, which was a really cute touch. Thanks!
Had the 3 course prix fixe; my friend cannot eat pork so they graciously did a substitution. all 3 courses were fantastic, and we loved the drink pairing for $30. Great value and loved everything we had
First time at Workshop and very impressed. The space is very cool, with the open kitchen and lively atmosphere. We tried the tasting menus (both 3 and 5 course) and the food was very good. Wine pairings were spot on too, with a very eclectic selection. Only downside was that the bison in one of our courses was very tough to get through. Lots of connective tissue...couldn't finish. We did mention to our server.
I like the atmosphere and ambiance of Workshop. I have eaten here several times and always had good meals with good, friendly service.
I and a few co-workers have lunch here regularly. The meals are consistently excellent and great value for the money. My personal favorite is the $25 lunch because there is always a feature fish option (not all restaurants do this). I usually choose the fish option and I have never been disappointed. The sides that are presented with the meat or fish are always unique, fresh and flavorful. This is my absolute favorite restaurant.
Excellent experience. Nothing to complain. Staff awesome and food excellent as well. 100% recommended
Had the Lougheed Lunch special at Workshop. It's a great deal - $25 for 3 courses. All 3 courses were good! Service is quick, so we finished in less than an hour.
It's the third time I've been here for lunch and would highly recommend it.
The Workshop never disappoints, the food is always really good and isn't your typical burgers and salads. I have had a few business lunches with colleagues and we have always enjoyed our experience.
This is a top 5 restaurant. Absolutely love the tasting menu paired with wine. This is the perfect date night restaurant
One of the best meals I've had in Calgary in a long time. So many dishes blew my mind. Service was outstanding. I can't say enough great things.
Absolutely unparalleled. Best restaurant in Calgary.
Love the decor and overall feeling. I’ve dined here a couple times and most menu items are great however the steak quality wasn’t to my expectation for a rib eye... honestly it must of been a sirloin. The restaurant service was great and replaced it with the fish and it was lovely. Fun place to dine in the heart Calgary.
When we arrived , I loved the old theatre building and the ambiance but we were not seated well although we had reserved. We were right in front of the open kitchen which was very noisy. The restaurant was maybe half full (or less) at 7 pm. If it had been full, I would have had no problem with this but there was tons of room elsewhere. The female waiter was extremely nice and accommodating and moved us to a new table. She was great! Before she moved us, she said she had to check all her reservations but I never saw that the restaurant filled up that much the entire evening.
We then got another waiter who was not rude but he wasn't pleasant either. He needs to learn to deal with more vegetarian types as well as meat lovers. I'm sorry I don't eat lamb or pork but deal with it. Customer service means meeting the customer on their own ground not judging them for their perceived lack of foodie cred or whatever his problem was.
My partner loved the whole experience and the food (3 course dinner). To me, the appetizers were ...well cauliflower or brussel sprouts? Overall, I just felt like the waiter disliked us although he did take the time to help me choose a wine. He pushed booze relentlessly. My chicken was undercooked. Call me a philistine but the whole food description was pretentious .
I really liked the restaurant atmosphere...this is a great space. I also liked the fact that the staff looked diverse, male and female, and if female not just all skinny 25 year olds in short black dresses. But having said that, the waiter never smiled once and considering what we spent, I would not be leaping to go back. I could have had worse food but a nicer waiter (which is pretty much the James Joyce) and loved the evening. Maybe your waiter should go spend an evening in a bar like Buchannan's where they know how to make everyone feel welcomed and , dare I speak this heresy, it's not just about the food but the whole experience.
Each dish we chose was fresh, unique and memorable. We sat at the community table and met interesting people which added to this special meal. Thanks Workshop Kitchen. You rock.
We had a wonderful experience here last week, our server was knowledgeable and helped up to choose a wonderful meal along with drink pairings. The FOH / BOH staff spoke with us directly, and were extremely hospitable from beginning to end. Would highly recommend for a variety of events and celebrations!
Thank you Workshop!
