YEW seafood + bar - Four Seasons Hotel - Vancouver Ratings and Reviews
Food and service are always not bad, although the waiter didn't come back and check us out for a long time sometimes, so we had to wait. The desserts were a bit out of our expectation. I regretted not just having sorbet. Overall, it's a good choice of restaurant.
Yew is one of the best restaurants in town. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner it's always amazing food, service and ambience. I love making it a go to place for cocktails and food.
Great ambience wonderful service and delightful experience
The food is good but the environment is poor. We were seated in a booth with insufficient lighting to read the menu...small print and ink colour not comparable with lighting. Also a large down draft of cold air conditioned air chilled us to the bone and cooled our food very quickly and it was cold less than halfway through. The open kitchen causes the cold air downdraft. Poor design or poor understanding of how the air system should work. Perhaps an unintended consequence of needless energy conservation.
I expect more from 4-Seasons and while the food was good I would not go back as the restaurant is uncomfortable.
It was very nice. the service was great! we will go back.
Food and service were excellent, though expensive, wine list especially so. The room is elegant and expansive with high ceilings and generous spacing between tables. Most remarkable for a busy restaurant of this scale is that the noise is well managed—we were able to converse in normal tones, which made the evening really enjoyable.
Wonderful full vegan menu
I enjoyed diner with my wife.
Seafood was great taste!
I recommend this restaurant.
Exceptional food, service and atmosphere.
A disappointment. We chose this restaurant because it got good reviews but the food: portions were small for the price: lacked flavour; and, in the case of the lobster, was overcooked. My sandwich was so sloppy, even cut in half, it fell apart and I had to ate it as a salad
Excellent meal on the evening of Christmas Day. Outstanding service.
Pre booked here for Xmas dinner. Was annoying that a table was not ready when we got there at 6pm, and we were then squeezed in between two other groups at a shared table. Even though it was only 6pm they had already ran out of one of the three appetizer options on the limited Xmas dinner menu. The turkey main was nice. I liked the stuffing and cranberry sauce. The mashed potatoes were really dry. Dessert of an eclair was nice and light, but others at our table did not like the chocolate dessert, said it taste like burnt toffee. The set price menu of $112 seemed over priced for the quality of the food. And there was no Xmas ambience to the restaurant at all.
The variety of food presented for Christmas brunch at $96 pp is on the expensive side, as there is only turkey available on the carving board!
The desserts are excellent and the service is always great.
There is an a la carte menu for people with smaller appetite, misconception that if you ordered from this menu, the charge is different, but it is still at $96 for an appetizer dish!
Unlimited fresh king crab, tiger prawns & oysters! Beautiful selection of desserts. Highly attentive service. Can’t wait to come back next year!
Great servers! Great food! Great environment! Except the girls at the entrance, i guess they don't like their job.
Great food & service!!
This was a very disappointing evening. I had booked it weeks in advance for our work year end dinner for 4 people. I had requested a warm cozy area of the restaurant. It first took far too long to be acknowledged by the hostesses when we arrived, then we were seated at the very back of the restaurant with air conditioning beating down on us in the dead of winter and away from the buzz and warmth of the core space, service was slow with refills and taking orders. We requested to be moved, but they did not accommodate. Food was okay. It had the potential of being a great evening, but with zero atmosphere and being freezing the entire time, we were unable to relax and enjoy. We will not return.
We often go to Yew for special occasions. The food is excellent and the service impeccable. Wine is pricey and the place is noisy, but the cuisine, especially the fresh fish, is delectable. We were treated to dessert on the house because it was a special anniversary, and that was a lovely touch!
Great atmosphere, delicious food, love the vegan menu and the manager gave our baby daughter a four seasons bear that she loves!
Great spot for a special meal with excellent service and ambiance.
I appreciate that restaurants, such as YEW, have vegetarian options for customers, especially when they are a seafood restaurant. However, if they are going to offer vegetarian options, at least make them tasty. Both myself and another girl at our table had the vegetable curry and it was the most tasteless dish I have ever had. The presentation was also unappetizing and the portion was paltry (even though it was poor taste, if in future the chef sorts out the dish, the portion could be improved).
We should have sent the dish back but we were pushed for time and it was very busy. I will definitely think long and hard abot returning to this restaurant.
the ambiance is great, really loved the whole atmosphere. the food was delicious BUT the portions are SMALL!!! my son ordered the lamb rack, and literally got 2 chops on his plate. i ordered the lobster and it was delicious too...but you get 2 pieces (not tails, but pieces). My other son ordered the salmon and it was a decent size. If you are not overly hungry and want a meal in a fun environment...this is not a bad place to check out.
Worst brunch experience ever! The staff was not attendant and my meal was mediocre. I ordered the lobster benny and it was barely lukewarm. I brought this to the attention of our server and my meal was replaced. You'd think they'd get it right the 2nd time around, right? Well.. no....hmmm... it wasn't much better but I unfortunately didn't bother to let them know. I just wanted to enjoy my company and forget about the food. 2 strikes and you're out!
A little disappointed with:
- Food was average in terms of quality and quantity given the price point
- service was slow when taking orders, clearing table, wanting additional items from the menu, providing credit card machine to pay
- was not given the little donuts prior to our meal
This was mitigated by:
- very warm and friendly server
Great. Simply great!
Taste of food could be better. Appetizer scallops slightly burnt, crab cakes too dry.The Main, Lingcod could be better, the 1/2 lobster enhancement was a total disappointment. The chicken breast was tender enough but plating could have been better, it was just 2 small pieces of chicken if without add-on, nothing else. Dessert was just mediocre. Service however was good, server was alert without being overly intrusive.
A group of friends meet here for lunch every quarter. It is convenient. This was my 5th visit. The restaurant is in the Four Seasons hotel and is a large trendy affair. The prices match: $25.00 for a burger, $40.00 for a lunch entrée. As you would expect the service and ambiance are fine. What is not fine is the food. My burger was dry and tasteless. Not even as good as a burger at McDonalds. The food was presented with flair and plated with style. If only they could do something about the flavor. Of the five meals I have had there the fare has never risen above the mediocre. In a city with great restaurants this one misses the mark.
Service was beyond expectation and the food was very tasty. Had a good time.
We made a reservation at Yew for my husband's birthday. We chose it specifically because we are seafood lovers and it was rated as one of the top 10 seafood restaurants in Vancouver. However, we did not find the food comparable to any of the other restaurants on that list. Our tuna tartare was oversalted. The sablefish was unseasoned. In the mixed seafood dish the salmon was overdone as were the prawns. Even my husband's dark and stormy was not done to his satisfaction. We were sorely disappointed and not expecting this level of food at all. We will not be visiting or reccomending Yew again.
Had a great night with our very attentive server "Joel'. He made the night with his happy profession service. The food and drinks were excellent. There was one thing that we were not happy with was when I called and asked if they served whole lobster the said yes but when we got the lobster it was not a whole lobster. The lobster was already de-shelled and placed on the plate with only the head and chunks of the lobster. My wife likes to see the whole lobster so this was a disappointment for her as it was her birthday and this was the reason we picked this restaurant.
Great service . Good atmosphere with light jazz music . Very thoughtful service by offering nice desert plate with greeting for our anniversary .
We enjoyed a delicious steak and egg breakfast and a 5-item seafood combination platter. Every single item was delicious with the exception of the lobster (we did not care for sauce). I'd return for brunch or dinner if in the area.
The food was absolutely outstanding! I highly recommend Yew seafood + bar.
It’s always a pleasure to see Armondo!
Burrara cheese salad did not have well distinguished flavours between the pear, walnut, broccoli and cheese. Signature sable fish dish was okay but not outstanding - ravioli was nice but sauce was overwhelming. Over attentive busboy was distracting. Ambience was otherwise good and staff offered to relocate us if adjacent party became too noisy. For the price the food could be better.
Great service, not a very interesting dinner, followed by a great dessert.
Seafood platter was not very interesting. Almost bland. Oysters and prawns were great. Mussels were mushy and tasteless as well as the crab salad thing.
We dined at YEW for a special event, and really enjoyed the seafood, the wine, the friendly and speedy services. The sablefish is absolutely excellent, and so is the ling-cod, as well as the seafood combination. We will definitely go back to YEW in the near future, and also recommend our friends and relatives to dine there. No excuses.
Pleasant experience as always. The ambiance was pretty good.
Good. Consistent quality and service. Price is a bit steep but expected given it’s a Four Seasons.
Great service! The food was delicious and the staff was very attentive. I enjoyed my dining experience very much.
