We had a great waiter who helped us select an excellent rose wine (gave us a taste of several different wines) we shared a large salad and a main meal, both of which were split at the kitchen. Overall good food and good service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion, since it is rather pricey.
I was there with my family for my birthday celebration . The overall service and food was good. However, I told the server at the start that I want my food VERY temp hot , not warm.
I ordered the lamb med rare and it was less than warm.
He took it back and the cook basically cooked it again. It came back as hot BUT the lamb was well done !
I was shocked that the YEW , which has a reputation of good food and service , would RE COOK the same two pieces of lamb and serve it back to the customer.
After again having to track down the server , he took my plate away again. this time I waited @ 20 min for my two pieces of lamb ribs and it was cooked nicely.
However, by that time, the other 5 people at my table were already finished their dinner etc. So I took my food home. I was no longer hungry . Disappointing indeed
I took a friend out for Thanksgiving Dinner, and was very impressed with the selection of dishes offered.. We had a remarquable server (Alan), who was very attentive and also very informative. In all, we had a wonderful meal. Kudos
This year our dinner was extremely over salted. Turkey was nice but the potatoes and veggies were like licking a salt pot.
The service was ok......even though we told our server 4 times that we had a pecan allergy he still brought the pecan dessert. And our bill was incorrect. Good thing we were paying attention.
A nice spot for happy hour but not sure we will go back for dinner.
Matthew was exceptional. Being a busy Thanksgiving night, he provided extremely great service and as a Four Seasons employee myself, it was amazing to be on the receiving end of such a great dining experience!
Right from when we arrived till when we left it was an outstanding experience. The hostess was friendly and courteous and we were seated promptly after we arrived. The ambience was very romantic and intimate for our dinner date. Our server, David, was excellent! He made great suggestions from the wine to the dessert. The service was excellent and very prompt. The tuna tartare was exquisite, fresh and melted in your mouth. My sablefish entre was delicious and the dessert was to die for!! Highly recommend this restaurant to everyone for a wonderful dining experience and great food! Les K
A massive birthday party with crying kids killed the romance for date night. Guess we should have gone for the 9pm opening vs 7:30pm. Food was great!
$45 for 2 scallops, 2 prawns, a small piece of sable fish and a small dry piece of salmon? Definitely not sockeye.
$34 for 2 pieces of very dry salmon pieces with a scoop of sushi rice.
Their version of Sablefish was good but not outstanding- I expected buttery but the taste was similar to salmon. The dessert I ordered had a lot of elements that clashed with one another, I would definitely not repeat.
Sat in the bar area and our server was excellent
Food excellent ambience perfect
Everything was done very well, nothing was excellent. Just a bit off the mark in everything except excellent ingredients. Preparations also good, but some hot things were room temperature by the time we got them, and pacing was very uneven. Server was good; I presume the pacing problem was the kitchen, not the server. Value fair for a high end hotel restaurant. Decor is excellent and interesting.
Quality has gone downhill wn over the years. Would not go back. Food disappointing with new chef and meal was incredibly rushed.
Service was excellent, our waiter spent quality time chatting and answering questions, very entertaining. The food was delicious, highly recommend the lobster mash potatoes!
Very nice restaurant with great ambiance. The server was amazing and she truly made the dinner a great one. A bit pricey but it was a quality meal. Great place for a first dinner date.
Yew was pleasant as usual. It would help to list all ingredients in each entree.
Crab Chowder was so good. Oysters were so fresh. Service was so good. Value for money.
we had course meal asked for a bigger table but rejected. except overall nice experience as always
Great friendly service combined with a seafood oriented menu was a great experience for us. Nice concise wine list, with a few local BC wines and beers. We enjoyed our meal here. A good casual ambience. Staff very helpful.
Excellent, friendly service. Food excellent for the most part. Lobster over cooked which was very disappointing.
We chose this restaurant as it offered a separate vegan menu, which 2 out of 4 guests needed. While the seafood + meat lovers enjoyed their meals quite well, we (vegans) were disappointed at the options and value of the vegan meals received. I chose the vegetable skewers on a tomato salad. Poor value as I received 3 small skewers of veggies on tomatoes (and olives which I dislike and they were not mentioned on the menu). Not a satisfying meal at all. Very little flavour.
Because YEW is offering a separate vegan menu, I would highly recommend offering bowls (or similar) that cover all food groups so you are offering a meal that will satiate your guests (ex. a choice of grain (a healthy choice, ex. brown rice), legumes (beans or chick peas, etc...) and an assortment of leafy, cruciferous and root vegetables made with some flavour and taste.
After our meal, the waitress gave us 4 regular dessert menus instead of remembering 2 of our were vegan. Lack of attention to detail was noted. Does not make us feel like valued guests. None of us ordered desserts.
Warning: the lobster Ceasar salad has actually whole anchovies in it, even though it’s not mentioned on the menu. I’m not an anchovy person and sent it back - it was hidden underneath the lobster and I just lost my appetite. If you’re including something as polarizing as anchovies, I think it would be included on the menu. Never going back.
Our favourite restaurant in Vancouver! Yew is an upscale restaurant that is also family friendly. The seafood is fresh and creatively prepared.
The perfect venue for a memorable dining experience. Outstanding service, great tasting seafood selections. Dessert was exceptional. Will definitely tell all my friends (who have not already been to Yew). Exceptional value!
Wonderful bday dinner 💕Thank you for making it memorable!
Located in four season hotel, just little old, but food looks nice
Waffles were very basic with little flavour & poor presentation for a restaurant of this caliber wouldn’t want to take a business guest there. Have had much better meals at Yew in past so very disappointed in this experience which was very mediocre. Service was good however
The food was great with great selection for vegetarians.
Great food, excellent service
An absolute must for visitors in Vancouver wanting a good seafood restaurant
The seafood not fresh and has no taste. The worse seafood ever. I will never go back again.
Great Service! Great with kids ! Staff are wonderful. Made my special night rememberable! Thanks again to the staffs of Yew.
Terrible service. Took over 15 mins for the waitress to get to us once we were seated
Food was average, and not warm enough. Very limited vegetarian options. Service was excellent.
It was for our silver anniversary, the food is excellent and we had a great waiter. Very enjoyable evening.
This restaurant has decent food for the value. The ambiance was pleasant. Our waiter was wonderful. However, when we checked jn to our Open Table reservation, we were intitially seated in the lounge despite that there was more than ample space in the dining room. I found is very rude that given we had a dining “reservation” we would be placed at a high top table in the lounge, where we clearly could have walked in off the street and sat ourselves with no reservation. Pretty unexpectedly. When we inquired about availability for a table in the dining room we were begrudgingly moved. Not sure what that was all about but the rest of our of dining experience was pleasant.
we had a wonderful meal at the YEW. The service was excellent. will definitely come again
Excellent experience dining at Yew last night. Andy our server did an excellent job. The menu is very balanced and the sea food is outstanding.
First time there and won’t be the last. The food and service were great.
Nice. Good food and nice environment
Server Joel was outstanding!! Professional polite and fun. We enjoyed our seafood feast and his lively conversation and great service
