Very nice place, however some dishes were much better than others.
A bit expensive but excellent food and service. A great place for a special meal. The indoor patio (inside the atrium) is quieter and further from the crowd of people waiting to get in. It feels like an outside patio without the cold (or too hot, too sunny, too windy...) and without the noisy traffic. It was a wonderful evening.
Another fantastic dinner at Zambri's. Always first choice for date night!
My wife and I both had the filet mignon. It was awful. A very average cut of beef which was badly over cooked and flavourless. After the waitress dropped it off we didn't see her again until it was time for the bill.
Fantastic local place to eat with an innovative menu that is flexible enough to offer something for everyone. Can’t wait to go back!
Very nice restaurant. We tried a few antipasti items and shared some pasta. We both thought the antipasti were the hits and the pastas( didn’t like the orecchiette) the misses. Great wine list though.
Good Food..Nice Atmosphere..Felt Rushed
First time here, it was my daughters birthday. It was the best Caesar salad I have ever had! The pasta was fresh and tender and the meat sauce was very tasty. My daughter loves it all! We will definitely be back. Especially for the Caesar salad!
As always great food, excellent service. Thank you!!
Overall what an excellent place to dine out with friends or your date.
great service as always. very informed staff, know all the best wine pairings for the food. we are usually on a time line before the symphony and we really appreciate the attentive service to allow us to savour the great food and keep us on time.
Zambri's is usually excellent. I go there often. Don't let this review put you off. I will say, though, that we had bad service this time at lunch. We had to flag down a waiter who wasn't our waiter at each stage of the meal. The attention was lacking and the staff were very distracted. That being said, Zambri's remains one of the best higher-end lunch spots in turn. I'll be curious to see if the service is as inattentive next time.
Having been here many times before, we found our meal under-whelming this time. The 2 appetizers from the specials list had very little flavour, the crostini was very dry and crumbled when bit into.My pasta, tuna mint peas was nicely al dente but really lacked distinct flavour and was very low on sauce.
The lamb dish was ok but the pork shoulder seems very over cooked and again lacked any real distinction.
Not our best dining experience here.
This is our favourite restaurant in Victoria. My wife is Vegan and they always accommodate her special dietary requests and go out of way to make her special meals. The pastas are by far the best and we just love the home made bread. Pizza is also outstanding and in our opinion the best in Victoria.
always great... took a friend ftom out of town who loved it
We've walked by Zambri's many times on our way to see a movie, but have never entered this exquisite Italian eatery. However, we were more than pleased with our experience, from the ambiance to the quality of the food: all aspects of our experience met or exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be going back!
Great service with friendly staff. Ambiance was really nice but it was a bit noisy for a date night.
Zambri's is on the upswing for sure. The service was efficient and friendly, my plate was the same I always take (Spaghetti agli olio) but cooked and presented exceptionally well ;-)
Can you imagine an extra charge for bread and oil/vinegar. Ten dollars for a 5 oz. glass of non-descript wine. The only good thing about the meal was the pizza.
Was amazing, wife had the tenderloin, it is her favourite meal she has ever had. Anywhere.
It was quite busy as it was Valentine's day and it seemed like they overbooked their reservations. We had a 7 o'clock reservation and were seated around 7:30 pm. We got our foot about 1 hr after ordering. Server was very kind and helped us with any questions. Great job by our server. The food was decently priced for a higher end Italian restaurant. Overall it was a good experience except for the wait for the foot and the wait to get a table but this was likely due to it being one of the busiest days of the year.
We had great experience! Food was delicious, especially the pasta. Will be back soon !
We had big expectations for this place. We had previously looked at their menu and were excited. We were excited until we arrived.
The front area was busy and not well organized.
We were shown to our table. The area was cold. Debated on keeping our jackets on.
Served came and took our drink order. Wine is really over priced. 5oz glass.....
We ordered bread and olives which were fine.
It took an exceptionally long time for the server to take our order.
The price of the food makes you think you are in for an exceptional meal. This wasn’t the case. Food was fine. But nothing extraordinary. Definitely priced way too high.
Staff were friendly.
Haida and the front of the house provide great service ask around! And the food consistently is excellent. Ask for Naomi or Georgia if you can!
Good food, good service. It was cold inside and we could have used an extra sweater!
My favourite place to go for a special occasion, an awesome meal or just for an excellent lunch!!
Good authentic Italian food; relaxed surroundings with very comfortable noise level; good varied wine list; the house wines are good Italian reasonably priced; the service was excellent, friendly and efficient; the only negative is that I would like a more varied menu.
The service was good and the restaurant is in a great setting and very modern. The problem is, our food was mediocre at best. The penne w/ peas and Gorgonzola looked and tasted as if it was a Michelina’s frozen dinner and very overpriced for what it is. The Aplina pizza was slightly better, but still nothing to be excited about. Lots of other places I would rather go for pizza and pasta just thought we would try Zambris, but now we know we don’t need to go back.
It was after lunch rush, DJ not many people. Great food and Jenn serving us was fantastic. Would surly recommend!!
Dinner was lovely. Bathrooms were frigid and one could see one's breath. Not lovely.
Zambri's is always a good experience, the food is excellent, the staff are capable and gracious.
He food and service were great. The noise level and the freezing cold washrooms not so good.
We went for dine around week and the menu was good enough that each of our four diners could find something on that menu. The hit was the lamb shank. Least favorite was the squash pappardelle. The starter broccoli caesar was good but the soup was quite spicy. Both desserts were good and the polenta and apple dessert was an interesting way to take a savoury and make it a dessert. Could have used a shot of Amaretto with the pastry.
We enjoyed our food very much. One criticism: swine on the win list was not actually available.
Mom’s birthday dinner. Great experience! Table was a little snug for 7 people but we made it work. Great time.
We enjoyed our dinner, very tasty. Our server was very good. Attentive, but not overly so, and friendly. We will be back!
We dined early on a Saturday night and were surprised to see how busy it was. But we were seated quickly and service was prompt and friendly. We ordered wine by the glass. The portions were very small...probably 4oz pours and we were not offered larger portions. Since we had read a lot about the “Dine around” program in effect in Victoria at this time, I decided on the $40 menu (3 courses).
My husband ordered a la carte.
My husband was “underwhelmed” by his Caesar salad but enjoyed his meat sauce pasta dish.
The featured menu I chose was very disappointing....all three courses seemed like they were contrived from whatever was leftover in the kitchen....the first course of “crispy broccoli” was good but I expected “crispy”. And instead a plate of steamed cold broccoli was served with what tasted like the dressing from the Caesar salad....in defence of the “crispy” description, the broccoli was not over cooked.
The next course was described as “gnocchi with A sauce flavoured with lamb shank.....what was presented was a whopping big lamb shank on a tomatoey sauce(which was tasty) and two little squares of firm polenta....when I asked the server if this was the chef’s idea of gnocchi, I was told this was his “take” on it....very misleading.
After I dug my way through the lamb shank, I ordered the third course....which I still cannot figure out...it was like they had taken a bunch of stale cake/pastry and topped it with some custardy cream..it was lumpy and hard and flavourless.
We were very surprised to see Zambri listed in YAM magazine as one of the top3 restaurants in Victoria.
We will see how the other 2 compare.
As always, Zambri's provided us with another excellent meal, great service and the perfect ' date night' ambiance.
I love Zambri’s. it is the perfect balance of professionalism and welcoming, comfortable and local friendliness. The food is impeccable and innovative. I loved it. Can’t wait to go back!
Our server was exemplary and the food was fantastic. Everyone at the table of six raved about their meal. I especially enjoyed the spaghetti pepperoncino and fried broccoli as a side which I put on top of the spaghetti. Perfecto.
