Pleasant patio lunch. Very nice strawberry melon gazpacho, followed by a smoked salmon sandwich was just right on a hot day. Ideal location for a Shaw Festival outing. Attentive service.
Dinner was exceptional. Everything perfect including wonderful choices on the menu. We like to really be wowed when dining out and Zee’s did that again. We have been here a few times in the last 5 years always great. Dining on the porch is so nice at Zee’s
Our server was wonderful and gracious and made sure we were never waiting or wanting for anything! Bill came out to a far more reasonable amount than we were initially expecting and everything was delicious!
We’ve been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The food is consistent and service generally very good.
Fabulous, yummy and very reasonably priced! I'd go back there over and over...wonderful....
Excellent short rib special, salmon croquetts were delicious. Have always enjoyed our meals here. Service by John was impeccable. Location next door to Shaw Festival theatre a real plus. We will be back.
Highly recommended. Reservation strongly suggested.
The lamb shank was very good but the smoked tomato relish was very strong. The salmon with crispy smoked salmon and dill potato galette was good, except the smoked salmon was nowhere to be found.
Never been disappointed!
Perfect for pre theatre dining!
I have eaten dinner at Zee’s in the past so was expecting good things. Sadly, breakfast was disappointing, overpriced, actually served me cold toast, had to ask for cream for my coffee.
Considering breakfast for 2 people was $35, not impressed.
Should have gone to Sunset Grill.
Good not great. Service was exceptional but food just OK.
Our service was very professional and timely. Food is delicious
Zees always has great choices! The menu is well planned with great combinations. Wine choices are wonderful local with off local if you prefer. Have been to Zees many times over past 5 years and have never been disappointed. Staff is always cheerful, can't beat the location. Highly recommend this for dining delight!
Lamb shanks was tooooooo salty, had to drink lots of water.
We had a wonderful meal served by an amazing waiter named Weston! We will definitely arrange another dinner here on future trip to Niagara on the Lake.
The appetizers tuna tartar and salmon croquettes along with our alcoholic mixed drinks were so bland or too heavy that they were unenjoyable and we cancelled our dinner. It was so overpriced. We ate lunch at Cork and had delicious food for so much less.
The place had the potential to be very nice. It just seems poorly looked after and the dishes lacked imagination. For what you are paying I thing everything needs to be taken to the next level. I would not visit again unless there was a significant investment in all areas. That being say its placed in a very nice location and ideally situated.
Always a treat to go there
We really enjoyed it
Zee's is one of our favorite restaurants in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. In fact, it might be our favorite. Sit on the covered patio and watch the world go by. The staff is wonderful (ask for Kim, she's terrific). I had the surf and turf and my husband had the chicken dish. Both of us loved ours. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you ordered. And my drink! Kind of a Cosmo but better and made with Black Vodka. What a treat. A fabulous restaurant in one of the most beautiful and charming towns we've ever visited. The Shaw Festival just makes the experience better!
Great food and service and reasonably priced. One of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever eaten.
This is the perfect spot for theatre goers. Located directly across the street from the Festival Theatre, Zees offers a lovely variety of seasonal selections in a relaxed, yet exquisite outdoor patio and verandah. Our favourite selection is the vegetable wrap with salad. We also chose the Mexican burger. Everything was delicious and the serving left us feeling more than satisfied. Treat yourself to Shaw and Zees..... a perfect combination!
We had a lovely table, just inside the open windows to the patio. The food was quite good and the wait staff was attentive.
Great food, so so service. They need to pick it up a notch. If the food is coming slowly because it is busy, let the customer know. Not wait till asked. Common sense.
Located across the street from the Festival Theatre, we thought that 1.5 hrs would be sufficient to order and eat dinner before the play. We were warned when we were seated that it could be close and they made sure it was. The meal (a risotto) was good but not outstanding. After taking our order we didn't see the waiter until the food arrived, much later.
I hadn't been back to Zee's in years because my original visit was so-so (didn't care for the menu). I was definitely pleased with the menu upgrades and we had a lovely dinner on the porch prior to attending a show at the Shaw Festival. Our waiter was very good also.
The menu was so limited and the food was mediocre at best. The atmosphere is the only thing that would take me back.
Fabulous menu of interesting flavours and textures. Attentive staff, but never rushed. Lovely atmosphere and steps to the Shaw Festival Theatre.
Very good food and service. Great place to eat before seeing a play at the Shaw.
Well made food, inattentive and slow service
The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The porch was lovely.
My husband and I had dinner reservations at Zee’s after seeing a performance at the Festival Theatre. This is one of our favourite restaurants. The wait staff are excellent. We arrived early and were quickly seated and drinks very soon arrived. My husband had the Chicken Supreme with Scalloped Potatoes and Corn Succotash. He has had this before and he said it was just as delicious as ever. I had the Salmon Duo with Carrots. There was a fillet of salmon, cooked as requested along with a light galette of potatoes and salmon with lemon and dill. It was light and fluffy with a crispy outer crust and the lemon and dill added just the right amount of “zip” to the dish. An excellent dinner. The wine selection has a number of very good local wines.
Swordfish texture tasted frozen and it was overcooked.
Caesar salad was nice
Short ribs very tasty and a huge portion
Zees never disappoints. This is a wonderful spot to have lunch or dinner, right across the street from the Shaw Festival Theatre, and watch the people go by. Great food, great service, great ambience, especially on the porch.
Overall, our experience at Zee's was very good. Our only complain was our particular Server. He certainly wasn't the "warm. cozy" type....got the job done, nothing more, nothing less!!
Great meal. Great service. Sat on the porch and it was very nice on a warm evening.
Amazing food, ambiance, service and location. The short rib was perfection. My friend said the lamb was tender and well seasoned. The swordfish was light and fresh. Our server was personable and attentive.
Mother and I always enjoy going to Zee's before we go to the afternoon play. This year we took our neighbours as well and they were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed the sumptuous lunch choices they made. Will definitely keep it on our must do list when in NOTL.
Always dependable that Peggy Wills will oversee the safe menu we arranged as I have a fatal food allergy. Every year, myself + 2 friends attend a production at Shaw and have lunch before at Zees Grill. Every aspect of the meal, seating, service, food is perfect. My friends do NOT have an allergy and their meal is beautifully presented and tasty. We would never go elsewhere before the theatre. Thank you to an attentive staff and chefs....we all appreciate you!
We had just the perfect evening at Zees tonight. The menu isn't too extensive, but several dishes intrigued us and we had (a little) trouble deciding. Highlights were the crispy pork belly starter, the Moroccan lamb shank and the Wellington Street pork chop. Food was excellent and portions were generous. Absolutely no room for dessert, and desserts sounded really good. Good wine selection and a great post-meal martini (cappuccino, vodka, Kahlua and Baileys). We need to return so we can try some of the other dishes. Oh, the service was excellent too. Very helpful, never far away, but not at all intrusive.
Zee’s is my favorite restaurant in Niagara on the Lake. The service is always attentive without being fawning and the food is prepared and presented beautifully. I also like that so many local foods are offered and the entrees are not your run-of-the-mill meat and potatoes dishes. Try the lamb shank!
Overall the food was good and the service was excellent.I would not recommend to a friend for several reasons.
The establishment is in need of a thorough cleaning. This is the beginning of tourist season so everything should be spotless. The carpet on the stairs going to the washrooms was dirty and had bugs crawling around.
The food is unimaginative for the price paid
Not everyone wants to eat steak.
We will not be returning.
