We visited For lunch before a play at the Shaw. This was the best part of the visit as it is located just across the street from the theatre.
We had reviewed the menu on line. The menu given to us was the same. Obviously they keep their web site current, a good thing (too many don’t).
After finalizing our selection we ordered glasses of wine. The Cab Franc was quite tasty but the sparkling was vey flat which detracted from the taste. The portion size was more than acceptable and lasted through a leisurely paced lunch.
We had 2 appetizers, calimari and soup. As with the wine, the portions were good. The soup was very hot and tasty. Unfortunately the calimari, while quite tasty, was on the chewy side.
For an entree we split the cheese board. Everything was very enjoyable. The only comment I have is that there were a lot of crackers. Reducing the quantity of these and perhaps adding a third cheese or additional meat would have greatLy enhanced our enjoyment.
The restaurant was cold, so cold overcoats we required. Otherwise the experience was acceptable and quick fitting in with our theatre experience well.
Zee's is our go to before shows at the Shaw Festival. It never disappoints, and has some of the best servers we find anywhere, always friendly and prompt. The food is varied and tasty, and a great wine selection.
Good food, good service as always. Would have liked to sit on the terrace but was full. Décor inside is ok but not great. Noise level was very good
Meals were great nice presentation lots of flavour. Would definitely go again
Second time having dinner there, and both times were fantastic.
Great location for a pre-theatre lunch. Good service and menu. Our fourth visit to Zees this summer & fall. Enjoy the verandah and patio setting, and parking at the Shaw Club.
Great food and excellent service but the price was a bit steep.
Came to Zees over the long weekend on a recommendation from a colleague and I was extremely impressed. Our server was outstanding and attentive (nicki) and the food was delicious. I had the short rib and it was massive, melt in your mouth. My partner had the chicken and he loved it, especially the sweet potato purée. We had a Caesar salad to start, which was also very nice, perfect to share. We will be back next time we visit niagara on the lake.
Zees has never let me down when it comes to good food and good service. It is one of my favorite restaurants.
Terrific place for dining before show at the Shaw Festival.
The main course was great. The salmon was cooked to perfection. The southern chicken dinner was great. So glad we picked this restaurant.
The only thing I would have done is skipped the Zees Perfect Cheese Board 26. Although it was a lot of food I felt the quality of the cheese and crackers were lacking. Next time we will try salads.
Dessert was good and our waiter was very friendly.
The food is very good. The servers are competent but not particularly friendly. The beef short rib is very tasty but WAY too much meat for a single person to consume. Suggestions might be to either reduce the size, indicate how many ounces of meat you get so people know they are getting a huge meal, or make it for two people. I saw other people also leaving more than half of the meat on their plate. It’s a shame to waste it. The ambience is nice and the location is very handy, just across the road from the main festival theatre.
Enjoyed a pre-theatre dinner. Service was excellent and prompt. Noise level was moderate despite several large groups in a rather full dining room. Convenient location, right across the street from the Shaw Festival Theatre. We used their parking lot and just walked over to the theatre. Enjoyed a filet, cooked perfectly, and the braised short ribs.
Yummy! Beer could have been colder but the cranberry chiller was good! Pulled pork, Caeser salad, Parmesan truffle fries, salmon burger all very good👌🏼
We made reservations. Sat inside with the most awkward seating. The bench seating inside is not conducive to intimate dining when the couple next to you are inches away. The bench is lower than the other seat so very awkward to talk to one another. The patio seems more intimate and romantic but was not given an option. The appetizers were just boring. Too big and just not interesting for a restaurant that is trying to be upscale according to their prices. My main dish of short ribs was really delicious and huge. My husband ordered the salmon and it was a tiny serving of salmon, the smoked salmon was invisible in the side dish and scant vegetables for the price. So opposite? Luckily he ate half of mine.
Just disappointing. Would have liked to have seen something seasonal and unique on the menu.
Lovely experience, great & delicious cuisine, topped off being served by our excellent and friendly server Joe!
Restaurant was nice. I ordered the surf & turf, the steak was delicious, the crab that came with it was not great. Tiny little breaded pieces that were very fishy.
I can’t imagine better food. Delicious. Presented well. Amazing.
Will never go again
We enjoyed dinner after a matinee at the Shaw Festival. Great lamb and swordfish, very helpful server, a very pleasant 50th anniversary celebration.
Great food and lovely servers!! A very pleasant place to eat.
Great view of the trees the Shaw Festival property and all the flowers. If the weather is nice sit outside and enjoy the great service and excellent food. I had the short ribs and it was the best I ever had. Niagara on the Lake is my every other year 5 day get away go to and Zees is my place for at least two dinners.
Dinner on the veranda by candle light is perfection.
Excellent service, beautifully presented food, and wonderful outdoor patio. Our "go-to" place in Niagara on the Lake.
Food was amazing. We have been to Zees for a few special occasions and have always been so pleased with the food and service. Such a wonderful restaurant! Would recommend it to anyone!
Food was fantastic. Great service fast to get food. James the bartender was fun to talk to. I enjoyed my visit.
We all had a lovely relaxing dinner and the food was excellent. Would definitely recommend it.
Superb location (5 minutes from Festival Theatre). Pleasing to the eye plus great ambiance and food/drink.
Pricey, but you''ll enjoy the experience very much.
This was another birthday lunch and theatre. Our server, Jay was excellent with just the right amount of humour and the ability to be attentive without being interruptive. The staff at this restaurant is very aware of special diets and able to recommend items that are safe. I recommend making a reservation, particularly on matinee performance days as this popular spot can be very busy. Zees is our go-to restaurant whenever we visit Shaw Festival Theatre.
Caesar salad great. Medetrainnian risoto great. Ahi tuna poor (way too thick ). Very limited wine list by glass. Only dessert was raspberry sorbet. Overall just so so
We are from Florida and have eaten here a few times over the last several years for lunch. Now we were here with a bicycle tour and immediately made reservations for a group,of us for dinner. It didn’t disappoint. We had tuna, swordfish, salads, pork belly, steak and it all was excellent. Save rooms for dessert. The death by chocolate and red velvet cake are to die for! Will be back next trip to Canada.
We were very disappointed with the Fielding Pinot Grigio wine that we ordered. I was fizzy!
We had our first date here and the food and ambiance was amazing. I would highly recommend coming here for dinner. I know we will be returning soon
We enjoyed the food at Zee's, however it was my wife's birthday and the restaurant had been given a heads up. Indeed my wife chose Zee's to celebrate her birthday. Despite this, there was no response to the special occasion. The restaurant was not overly busy and I chose not to complain, but it makes me wonder why I would state whether there is a special occasion when I book a reservation.
Very enjoyable lunch. Food is good quality although a little pricey.
Whenever we go to Niagara-on-the-Lake (usually once a year), we plan in advance to have dinner at Zee's and over the past 8 years we have always enjoyed fine food, great service & a relaxing atmosphere - our most recent visit was a memorable evening and did not disappoint.
Located across from the Shaw Festival Theater, Zees is perfect for a meal before attending an evening event at the theater. Although the dinner entree selection was not extensive, it was more than inviting with fair pricing. The quality of the food (salad, entree, dessert), the quantity, and the presentation was awesome. Server (Sean) was very attentive but not obtrusive. Wine selection was extensive. Highly recommend without any reservation or hesitation. Suggest the beef or salmon for an entree.
First time at Zees. Went there because it was close to the theatre, hence avoiding the hassle of parking. Would have wanted to be inside rather than out but were told there was a function for which inside seating was reserved. Nothing fancy about food but did enjoy the salmon burger and the parmesan fries.
Food was disappointing. Caesar salad was dry and bland. I had their swordfish “signature dish” which was nothing special.
Jay, our waiter was terrific.
We had a nice table outside.
The weather held up and it was quiet enjoyable .
The food wAs very good and everyone e njoyed what they had.
We would definitely go back again.
