Well made food, inattentive and slow service
The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The porch was lovely.
My husband and I had dinner reservations at Zee’s after seeing a performance at the Festival Theatre. This is one of our favourite restaurants. The wait staff are excellent. We arrived early and were quickly seated and drinks very soon arrived. My husband had the Chicken Supreme with Scalloped Potatoes and Corn Succotash. He has had this before and he said it was just as delicious as ever. I had the Salmon Duo with Carrots. There was a fillet of salmon, cooked as requested along with a light galette of potatoes and salmon with lemon and dill. It was light and fluffy with a crispy outer crust and the lemon and dill added just the right amount of “zip” to the dish. An excellent dinner. The wine selection has a number of very good local wines.
Swordfish texture tasted frozen and it was overcooked.
Caesar salad was nice
Short ribs very tasty and a huge portion
Zees never disappoints. This is a wonderful spot to have lunch or dinner, right across the street from the Shaw Festival Theatre, and watch the people go by. Great food, great service, great ambience, especially on the porch.
Overall, our experience at Zee's was very good. Our only complain was our particular Server. He certainly wasn't the "warm. cozy" type....got the job done, nothing more, nothing less!!
Great meal. Great service. Sat on the porch and it was very nice on a warm evening.
Amazing food, ambiance, service and location. The short rib was perfection. My friend said the lamb was tender and well seasoned. The swordfish was light and fresh. Our server was personable and attentive.
Mother and I always enjoy going to Zee's before we go to the afternoon play. This year we took our neighbours as well and they were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed the sumptuous lunch choices they made. Will definitely keep it on our must do list when in NOTL.
Always dependable that Peggy Wills will oversee the safe menu we arranged as I have a fatal food allergy. Every year, myself + 2 friends attend a production at Shaw and have lunch before at Zees Grill. Every aspect of the meal, seating, service, food is perfect. My friends do NOT have an allergy and their meal is beautifully presented and tasty. We would never go elsewhere before the theatre. Thank you to an attentive staff and chefs....we all appreciate you!
We had just the perfect evening at Zees tonight. The menu isn't too extensive, but several dishes intrigued us and we had (a little) trouble deciding. Highlights were the crispy pork belly starter, the Moroccan lamb shank and the Wellington Street pork chop. Food was excellent and portions were generous. Absolutely no room for dessert, and desserts sounded really good. Good wine selection and a great post-meal martini (cappuccino, vodka, Kahlua and Baileys). We need to return so we can try some of the other dishes. Oh, the service was excellent too. Very helpful, never far away, but not at all intrusive.
Zee’s is my favorite restaurant in Niagara on the Lake. The service is always attentive without being fawning and the food is prepared and presented beautifully. I also like that so many local foods are offered and the entrees are not your run-of-the-mill meat and potatoes dishes. Try the lamb shank!
Overall the food was good and the service was excellent.I would not recommend to a friend for several reasons.
The establishment is in need of a thorough cleaning. This is the beginning of tourist season so everything should be spotless. The carpet on the stairs going to the washrooms was dirty and had bugs crawling around.
The food is unimaginative for the price paid
Not everyone wants to eat steak.
We will not be returning.
We booked this restaurant online after reading about it on their web page. The atmosphere was friendly and dress was casual. The menu is varied and original. There are options for vegetarians.
We were seated quickly and the waiter arrived soon after to take drink orders. He gave recommendations from the menu that were perfect. The bill folder made me laugh. It was titled "The Damage". If you are planning to see a play at The Shaw Festival Theatre, you can't eat any closer.
It is directly across the street!
Great food with huge portions. Our second time here in 2 visits
Food and service were excellent. The seating was less than comfortable.
Good service and food. Nice setting in the screened off porch. Pork belly appetizer was excellent. Pork chop was extremely tender and moist, but beef short-rib was a bit dry and tough.
Patio dining available in this lovely restaurant looking out over the charming Main Street if Niagara-on-the-lake. Yummy food, great eggs Benedict, strong coffee. Hope to visit for dinner sometime.
Beautiful setting for lunch. Super accommodating staff. Good food-a lot!!
Outstanding service, perfectly prepared and flavored selections
Food was cold. Service was scattered.
I was expecting the lobster poutine, which to my surprise has been removed from the menu. Food was decent. Truffle fries was below expectation. Location was the best.
Our server was terrific, very attentive, but not overly-so. Our food was tremendous, hats off to the chef!
What a great menu. I had the lamb shank with couscous and my hubby the swordfish. Both were excellent. The lamb shank had a bit of a bite which I really liked. The flavours were very interesting. The swordfish, which my hubby had never had, was to die for. Excellent flavours and the fish and veggies done to perfection. Dessert and coffee were also very good.
Our server was attentive but not in your face.
We’ll certainly be back again soon.
Fantastic food with great service. We were a group of 10 and we all enjoyed our experience.
Absolutely perfect from start to finish! Great table in sunroom/covered patio, great waiter, great food! Nothing could be more perfect. Will be our new go-to in NOTL!
Fantastic experience!! Our dinner was outstanding, our server (Trevor) was lovely. The restaurant was beautifully appointed. We loved it all!!!!!
Great food in a good location. Staff was very nice and attentive.
Our third visit. All have been excellent. The short rib is very good.
Food, service and atmosphere are excellent. Proximity to the Shaw festival theatre as well.
Good wholesome food in a nice restaurant, Trevor the waiter was great, friendly and helpful.
Zee's is never a disappointment. The food is always great and service is very attentive. Great dining experience every time.
Atmosphere and Service were excellent. The Carrot and Ginger Soup was watery and flavourless. The menu is almost entirely sandwiches and very limited. Prices are too high for the value received.
My first time having diner here. Food, service everything was great but if I really had to complain about something I'd say the chairs could have been more comfortable and the way my feet sat under the table around the base made it a little awkward. Regardless I would still go back
Love Zee's Grill for its proximity to the Shaw Festival Theatre and its great food, service and ambience. We have been here for both lunch and dinner often and have never had a bad meal or experience.
My vegan, gluten-intolerant daughter often has trouble finding things she can eat on a menu, but Zee's had delicious choices for her. Service was very good, and we made the play in plenty of time.
The only way to describe the meal was meh. We’ve been here several times before and the food quality has gone downhill. My Caesar salad pretty much could have come from a kit. The mains were decent enough and the dessert was awful - it was clearly old and super dry.
I don’t know what happened whether it was off season but it’ll be a while before I try again.
Excellent food and service. Our waiter was very attentive and took care of a snafu with the reservation. The ambiance was great as well.
There two times for dinner. Joe and James are phenomenal! Thank you.
Enjoyable experience... and directly across from the Festival Theatre!
